721  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Medvedev's twitter account has been hacked on: August 14, 2014, 04:44:19 PM
It is not that difficult to hack a twitter account. But I am surprised that it went unnoticed for quite some time. The tweet was removed after a considerable delay. What happened?
I think it was not hacked, but an attempt by the gov to damage the reputation. After all, they can login to any twitter account

Sorry NSA, privacy is dead  Grin

Snowden has not revealed anything, he send the documents to American journalists working for American companies. If anyone went to far, it's the journalists.

This shit is crazy, scary how militarised the US police have become. Maybe the UN will send in some peace-keepers  Grin

Ask Russia. I'm pretty sure they would be happy to give a hand with peace-keeping... Smiley
Peace keeping with bullets and tanks  Cheesy The world is becoming increasingly militarised, even the internet cannot escape from it.
724  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia is getting ready to bomb the USA :( on: August 14, 2014, 12:49:06 PM
Countries like Israel should also be encouraged to to disclose their number of nuclear weapons, aswell as signing up for the NPT. No doubt most countries overestimate their number of nukes, partly because its become a global dick waving contest.

Israel will not allow any outsider to inspect their nuke stockpile. Not even the Americans will be permitted anywhere near the nukes (although they had bought these weapons from the US). But at the same time, they have no issues in asking DPRK and Iran to get their nukes inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
This is a strategic and financial decision. There are a lot of double standards in foreign policies, for example, "Weapons of mass destruction" case in Iraq.
725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep your bitcoins secure if you suddenly disappear (jail or prison) on: August 14, 2014, 12:45:13 PM
They are all very easy methods I think, but not without danger of loss.
Summary of methods so far:

  • multi sig paper wallet
  • plain paper wallet/cold storage
  • encrypted paper wallet
  • cloud based storage service
  • Private keys encrypted in the cloud, with a password you won't forget by a few years,
  • memorize 64 hexadecimal chars, keep the private key in your brain.
  • QR tattoo
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Latest investigation about coins stolen on: August 14, 2014, 12:30:27 PM
Thats why you should use a separate virtual system for each altcoin client you run
This is much better in terms of security. You can use vmware or a similar program and multiple images - or use an offline wallet. Many alt coins are scam or virus.
727  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm Broke! Plese help me:( on: August 14, 2014, 12:23:07 PM
Hi guys.
Sorry for English.
In past 9 month i invest about 100000$ in crypto.
I bought GPUs and ASICs about 40,000$. in this time my devices worth less than 15000$. and after bitcoin crash i lost my incomes.
Preorder scrypt asics for 20000$ which i don't know thats will deliver to me or just an scam.
And i tried trade the rest of my money in markets and i lost huge money.
In this time i have only 12btc and my rigs and a preorder device! my daily income from rigs is about 0.04 btc!!
Can someone give me rules and advice? i need my money back Embarrassed

Your 12btc is worth just $6100 now, and you estimate your devices worth about $15000 now.
So in the optimal situation, for getting refund for your pre-order and selling your devices now at market price, you will still have a loss of about 60%. Sad
Ouch, that is a really bad loss. I am very sorry to hear that.

I'd keep some BTC for long term. To sell at loss is maybe not the best idea, just if there is no other way.  Also join a signature campaign, you can earn some more  Smiley
728  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We do not have a gun culture problem, we have a culture problem. on: August 14, 2014, 12:18:54 PM
Anything the government cannot control is a problem for them. I tend to agree, it's a cultural problem - our culture is a big promoter of violence we find it everywhere tv, movies, games, music etc - but always in a positive sense. The gun violence also happens in the government (police) level, so we cannot simply separate them and say "the people owning guns are the problem".
729  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-14] How Bitcoins Could Put Your Finances at Risk on: August 14, 2014, 12:13:30 PM
Just a scare story. Bitcoin actually offers more protection, as you are in control of your money.
Banking is a big risk, they should write an article about that. Some people who put money in Cyprus bank lost up to 800.000 USD
730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: income share your daily bitcoin on: August 14, 2014, 12:08:17 PM
Payments monthly, not daily, so I'd have to say 0.0
If one would divide the monthly earnings, then maybe 0.001
731  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Bitcoin Hunt] Launch of a new Bitcoin game ! (riddles and enigmas to get BTC) on: August 14, 2014, 12:03:56 PM

732  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-14] Bitcoin for dummies on: August 14, 2014, 10:09:30 AM
Thanks, I added it to the "Bitcoin for dummies" folder and also under Press and Government.  Grin

Those people are clueless, when it comes to BTC and most of them, thumb suck their information and then comments negatively on it, due to a lack of true facts.

Look deeper and find the gems in BTC then comment on it and look like a genius, not a fool.
I think it will change over time, in the same way people asked "Why do I need e-mail?  Huh " in the past.
Meanwhile the crypto economy is growing and there will be a time when it can't be ignored anymore.
733  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the reason for the current bitcoin value crash? on: August 13, 2014, 10:06:29 PM
What is the reason for the current bitcoin value Crash? Is something happened?  Sad
Look up the long term chart - the 1 year trend, nothing happened. Just the usual roller coaster, don't worry about it too much for now.
If you think bitcoin has potential it's better to hold.. panic sells is how whales get money  Wink
734  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Around the World on 80 Bitcoins on: August 13, 2014, 09:42:42 PM
I would crowdfund this project too https://bitcoinstarter.com/projects/947 if i only had more than 2 bitcoins which i hold desperately Tongue

Yes, seems everyone is holding on to their coins even with the drop in BTC price!
The drop in BTC price has not been enormous, we're not talking about a drop of 100%.. besides on the long term bitcoin price is going up, no reason to sell.
735  Economy / Speculation / Re: PANIC PANIC! (just get it over with, will you?) on: August 13, 2014, 02:17:05 PM
yes. i only care for a yearly chart. one year ago at this time, we were at $100. so we're still 5000% up, doing great. I'd start really worrying at $200. which won't happen, so just yawn and enjoy the cheap coins on a dip Smiley

Yes, the year charts it the only thing to focus on. This 'panic' is just some noise.. I think many noobs will sell now. On the long term, I think bitcoin will go up more than 100%. bump this thread in Aug 2016  Smiley
736  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: August 13, 2014, 02:04:34 PM
If? The adoption is still really low and it can hit big numbers in the next years, the question is when.

The question is If, not when.  There is no proof that it will not crash and it is nothing much different than the stock market.  If we all knew it would take off we would all be millionaires...right?
We could very well be in the future. It's still the most used crypto out there, so probably the best bet is on bitcoin. It depends on the adoption rate of course. But.. I cannot make any prediction what the price will be in 2016.. or 2020.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto in Academia on: August 13, 2014, 01:11:33 PM
I didn't know that bitcoin would have been studied in the universities, I think that it is great for btc future because in this way more young people will be involved.
There are some master-level courses in crypto since this or last year. I think you can learn much more from hacking around with the codes though - everything you want to know is online.

739  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Message to Barak Obama from Russian dude. on: August 13, 2014, 12:15:51 PM
He will not more travel to US, use US food and products.
I'm doing the same thing since PRISM came out.
Many people avoid the US - but PRISM is international, it spans all of the five eyes countries. Do you avoid Australia and UK too?
740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fallling is a troll, but expect $500-$470 in a few weeks anyway on: August 13, 2014, 12:11:55 PM
so is this a short term trend or are we never going to see $10K etc?
Ignore fallling, he is just trolling  Grin

fallling is doing a valuable service... we all want this bear market to end, so anything that shakes out weak hands and quicken it up is welcome. I don't think he's trolling to get cheap coins, he's just putting the effort in to speed things along that few others can be bothered to do. He's a hero in my eyes.

sorry but the bear market will only end with bitcoin, everyone is selling and no one is buying bitcoin,
you may be able to buy all bitcoins at $0.0000000xx after the final capitulation but they would be useless at that time
no, on the contrary, people are buying and holding bitcoin.
if you don't need them anymore, you can send them to me.
