Ah Satoshi was smarter than the average bear but when it comes to predicting the future its difficult, I think Satoshi did what he could to make sure Bitcoin was set on the course he envisioned.
Given the fact that Bitcoin is deflationary and decentralised with superior security it is kind of predictable that it would be volatile.
Knowing if it would be adopted further into the future after he left the space is another thing.
I think Satoshi was satisfied by the end of 2010 that enough people were involved and active to carry it into the future. I think while being able to create a useable product in Bitcoin, bring it into the public domain and nurture it for a year at that stage confidence was high that it could be left to grow into the future.

What's interesting about the WTA 1000 Guadalajara, Italian women's tennis player Martina Trivesan almost won against Caroline Dolehide but failed after her opponent managed to make a comeback in the second set when she was 4-2 behind. Trevisan was quite impressive when yesterday she beat Ons Jabeur but this time she made quite a lot of mistakes when she almost secured a place in the semifinals.
Yes, it happens very frequently when an underdog kicks out one of the top seeds, he/she runs out of steam and gets eliminated in the next round. Trevisan couldn't find motivation to win in a match against Dolehide after epic win versus Jabeur. Happens all the time. In every sporting event there are always surprises that are created and often the surprises are given to players who are not highly favored and this is a form of one of the big surprises. In the first set Martina Trivesan played quite well and even made it difficult for Caroline Dolehide to catch up on points but when the second set started Caroline Dolehide actually looked more enthusiastic and showed the skills she had to be able to create point after point until the end she won the 2nd set and when the 3rd set started Martina Trivesan looked gloomy or lost her confidence in winning the match and Caroline Dolehide managed to come out on top. Now Caroline Dolehide has made it to the final which will be held in one days against Maria Sakkari and let see who will win the final. I think sometimes this can also happen because the underdog thinks that he has achieved a good enough result in that tournament already. So it is not going to matter too much if that certain player goes further into the tournament or not. It feels like they somehow lose the drive to actually achieve more. That's why I think a lot of underdogs who end up defeating an opponent which is much more better compared to them, end up losing the next match. In the final, Caroline is going to face Sakkari. This match is definitely expected to be competitive. But I think Sakkari has a better chance of winning this match. But of course, when it comes to predicting women's tennis, it is definitely hard because women can be very unpredictable and inconsistent. With no offence to Dolehide after reaching the final I think Sakkari is deserved favourite, 4.47 v 1.19 with their odds. I have never heard of Dolehide before and she did really well to beat Kenin in the semi final. She is currently ranked no.111. Anyone going to bet on Dolehide to win this one against the power of Sakkari?

Another HORRIBLE game made from Argentina, all idiot decisions a lot of non sense plays. We need to level up the game really soon if we think we can do something in this world cup.
The ammount of lose ball we do.... i know it was wet but come on man....
I was looking forward to this game but it was an "early" start here and I only go to see the last 13 minutes. I couldnt believe the score 16-3. I thought the scores would be higher. I had a feeling the game would be close but for Samoa to only score once in over 75 minutes is poor. Main thing is Argentina got their win. All of a sudden Group D has turned into a race between 3 teams for the second qualifying spot. Next week Argentina could have a tough one against Chile next week.

Fernandez beat Navarro yesterday in 2 sets and lines uo a quarter final clash with Kenin. The odds are Fernandez 2.0 - 1.8 Kenin, I think Fernandez is good value at 2.0. Kenin can sometimes get in her own way mentally when things get tough but lately she seems to snap out of it sooner - going to be tough.
Kenin did well against Ostapenko, exceptional tennis by the American. I'm following a young Colombian Emiliana Arango. She managed to eliminated Townsend in 3 sets: 7:5, 1:6, 6:4 and will be meeting Maria Sakkari in the next round. Sakkari is not showing her best tennis atm so it will be an exciting encounter. Sakkari was too much for her! As was Kenin for Fernandez, there was some really great tennis played by both. I opted to watch this rather than France v Namibia in the Rugby World Cup. Fernandez had 14 aces and Kenin had something like 12 double faults but still managed to win in 3 sets. She now faces someone I have never heard of Caroline Dolehide? Sakkari has a seemingly tougher draw against Garcia.

Yes, this week there will be more closely matched teams. Having said that however, in just eight hours time France will obliterate Namibia (languishing at $67) before a much more restrained game between Argentina ($1.17) and Samoa ($5) I think it'll be a fairly close game, but Argentina will no doubt win.
Following on, Georgia ($1.12) and Portugal ($6.20) will be a one sided match up.
France v Namibia is up in a few minutes, its going to end up with a France win, I actually not going to watch it, going to watch Fernandez v Kenin at the Guadalajara open instead. Tomorrows game should indeed be a good one and a tough one for both sides really. On world rankings they are 10 and 11 and both teams need to win - moreso Argentina. I have said this before but I have a soft spot for the Jaguars so I would like to see them going through this one. Odds suggest Argentina will win, 1.18 v 5.80 League NRL
This time tomorrow, it will be the end of the season for either the Panthers ($1.12) or the Storm ($4.80) with nobody going for point spread bets (i.e. everyone thinks it'll be a very tight game).
The day after, the Broncos ($1.26) are expected to win their encounter with the Warriors ($3.20) which would give us a top two grand final.
The Warriors were second from the bottom at the end of last year IIRC so even if this weekend is their departure for the season, it's a remarkable turn around for them.
Panthers v Broncos for me in the final!

Anyone following the WTA1000 event in Guadalajara? Layla Fernandez is doing really well and is into the last 16 and now plays Emma Navarro. Fernandez is slight favourite @1.83 v 2.00 for Navarro. If she progresses she could be in the company of Ostapenko, Sakkari and Kenin. At the ATP 1000 Shanghai Masters we will not see Djokovic competing for this title after Djokovic confirmed his withdrawal from the tournament which will be held in October, and maybe he will only play at the Paris Masters at the end of October Djokovic Withdraws From ShanghaiMeanwhile, Alcaraz is certain to play in the tournament after taking a long break because he also did not play for Spain in the Davis Cup, and his decision not to play in the Davis Cup caused criticism and Spain failed to reach the final 8 in Malaga at the end of November. I actually havent followed the Davis Cup this year. I can imagine it didnt go down well that the home nation didnt have its star player playing. Alcaraz now playing at the Shanghai masters and Djokovic not will almost certainly result in Alcaraz taking the title

Rugby World Cup Italy v Uruguay Before this game Italy were unbackable at 1.001, at half time the score line was: Italy 7 - 17 Uruguay, IDK what the odds were like at half time but I would imagine the odds were healthier. Right after half time Uruguay picked up a Yellow card, with a man over Italy took full advantage and scored two converted trys resulting in a score of 21 - 17. The scoring didnt end there for Italy and finished up as the odds suggested before the game

If and when a Bitcoin spot ETF gets approved for Blackrock for example the markets will react to this, there will probably be a drop in price in the short term because of >>> "buy the hype, sell the news" (....)
For sure yes, but after that everything will start to cool off. I believe it will start to pump. Just check out what happened with Gold when ETF started, the price of gold just started to pump. ETF is extremely big thing for Bitcoin right now, it is most awaited event right now and a lot of people are expecting it. Yes there is quite a big buzz around this but I think its primarily because of Blackrock being involved and the recent court case won by Grayscale against the SEC also increases the excitement around this. There are a lot of predictions and lots of speculation around this but the general feeling certainly among Bitcoiners is that its going to be big especially as we get nearer the halving, if there is no decision this year and it gets approved early next year, those two events aligning together will be massive. $100k for sure

It's time to share your experience. (choose one question and share your thoughts)
4. Did you also have the "get rich quick" mindset. I bet it slowed down your learning process.
Never had the "get rich mindset" I was aware from the start of my journey that patience was going to be a trait I would have to exercise, now 6 years later I am still patient. I did dabble with altcoins and learned soon after that it was a mistake, it didnt slow down my learning process because " every day is a school day" and we learn from all events

Frankly, seems pretty logical to me to legalize doping in some sports. Everybody knows that top athletes are doing it so why pretend they're fighting it? Times change, they have replaced linesmen with cameras, "hawk eye" etc in tennis, video judges in football so why not allow doping in cycling for example as everyone is obviously doing it anyway? Ever heard of slippery slope? How would you allow it? Like, open all doors and say go for it? Because implementing limits is as ineffective as prohibiting or allowing it. There is no solution to that problem. There is only one thing for sure: if doping is allowed entirely, we will see athletes dying like flies because the pressure, greed and addiction for personal records and so on will be so intense that athletes will see themselves being forced into insane abuse. Many athletes know that if they stop their doping tomorrow, they will lose their sponsorships the day after and all the fans and admiration/support from the public as well. This is such a huge topic and I believe there really is no solution to that because whenever there is a set limit, a doctor or chemist is already trying in a laboratory how to circumvent it without getting caught. But allowing it entirely would open the floodgates to death. And seriously, I am not interested in seeing how far or high someone can jump or how fast they can run when they are pumped up with drugs. I am interested in seeing what is humanly possible. Some will say that doping could be considered an element of human existence. Good point, but why would I care what people are able to do on drugs? It is a different discipline and it can indeed be interesting just for the sake of informing people like me. But in a competition I would like to see people compete on the same level, whatever that means. My first reaction is to say legalise it, no restrictions but make everyone aware of the dangers of it. If someone dies then others weill be held responsible then on the other hand this could result in kids taking drugs trying to make it into professionalism.

If and when a Bitcoin spot ETF gets approved for Blackrock for example the markets will react to this, there will probably be a drop in price in the short term because of >>> "buy the hype, sell the news"
but medium term the price will increase. A spot ETF means that any of Blackrocks clients who want to buy the Bitcoin ETF then Blackrock have to actually hold that amount. This could result in a supply v's demand issue.
Also just to remind all, Blackrock is the worlds largest investment company.

Yes I think Banks are slowly softening their views towards Bitcoin, I'm not sure if "Adopt" is a relevant description - yet.
Also I think when more institutional investments become the norm there will be more acceptance from the banks. For example if and when Blackrocks ETF gets approved it will be a game changer, not only for investors but also for the perception of Bitcoin by other individuals and other institutions.
The thinking might be "if Blackrock can get a Bitcoin spot ETF it has to be something to get into"

Well this coming Sunday Australia have a massive challenge against Wales who also had a tough time against Fiji themselves. This is going to be a very close affair, and I think I will back Wales TBH.
The last game from last weekend turned out as expected really England 34 - 12 Japan. TBH the scoreboard kind of flatters England, they struggled with Japan for a lot of the game.
Next round of games kick off tomorrow with Italy v Uruguay.
Further on at the weekend there are 2 very important games:
Argentina v Samoa - The Jaguars NEED to win this game
Ireland v South Africa - Arguably the most important game of the tournament, World no.1 v World Cup Champions.

Today makes it two years since El Salvador made bitcoin a legal tender in the country. Since the adoption of bitcoin in that country. The president of the country Nayib Bukele has accumulated about 2381BTC which he has spent $101 million for the purchase with an average purchase price of $43,357. The price is down by 40% which the BTC price now worths $61 million today. Even as this is happening, the president is not compelled or pressured to sell them off, but still optimistic about the future of bitcoin and will likely love to add more to the bitcoin savings until a target 100,000 BTC by 2024 is met. Will this approach, confidence and doggedness by the president of El Salvador make other countries to follow his footsteps. No one has loved and gave much confidence in bitcoin as a government like him, and I admire and respect him for that a lot. We hope other countries leaders will follow and trail on his path. https://bitkan.com/learn/how-much-bitcoin-does-el-salvador-own-in-2023-the-risks-16511Thank you iBaba for reminding us. No country has shown so much commitment like El Salvador and no president has ever believed in Bitcoin like Nayib Bukele. Central African Republic became the second country to adopt Bitcoin but the nation couldn't withstand the pressure from institutional anti-Bitcoin forces so they repelled the law that made it a legal tender. Selling it now is needless since it will lead to losses rather they should hodl and even add more now that the price is down. Many countries are becoming more Bitcoin-friendly and we can assume that through friendly policies we are seeing. But they are not bold enough like Nayib Bukele's El Salvador. or brave enough! As we move ever closer to the possible pre-halving bullrun profits will be realised and the post-halving bullrun will prove Bukele's decision to embrace Bitcoin was a brave move and will prove beneficial to those we also believed in his move.

~snip~ It amazes me that so many people still think $hitcoins are an actual viable option.
I'm not surprised at all, people are greedy or desperate and you can sell them whatever you want, and what's even better for all those scammers is that people are not only naive, but you can take advantage of them several times until they finally realize that they've been scammed. Bitcoin is of course something much different, but I still cannot be indifferent when I see that people are absolutely convinced that only by investing in Bitcoin they can count on a better future. I already recently wrote in another topic that there are various risks that should be taken into account. Here we can always refer to the old advice that says "don't invest more than you are prepared to lose".or pure gamblers, risking more than they can/should on a purely made up project aimed at lightening peoples wallets. We all know at this stage or at leats I hope everyone does of the saying "don't invest more than you are prepared to lose". but I have taken some risks in order to get more Bitcoin...which have worked out. Not all Altcoins are automatically shitcoins. Shitcoins are the ones created for the single purpose like "getting rich quick". Some alts have better properties than Bitcoin, they lack value though. What becomes christal clear is that most crypto enthusiasts are in for FIAT, and not for crypto.
Maybe you should have at least given us an example of one altcoin that is better than Bitcoin. As far as I'm concerned, there are lots of altcoins or rather shitcoins out there that claims to provide same features with Bitcoin but they can never be Bitcoin. Altcoins, creators uses this pump and dump schemes solely to attract investors and make quick profits for them selfs. Bitcoin, being the best and most established cryptocurrency, is in a league of its own with a solid track record and a unique value proposition as digital gold.there's no coin like Bitcoin mate, you should have that in your mind. They never stated "are better than Bitcoin" but have better properties like Monero which is a specialist project in Privacy which Bitcoin is not. There are Altcoins which are still viable and which are "old" projects like Monero and Litecoin.

Ah I have been there too, got involved with them thinking they were going to become big, I checked them a few months ago and they are gone outside the top 100 on coinmarketcap.
I count myself fortunate to have been able to get some of my Bitcoin back by trading them before they went to absolute zero.
It amazes me that so many people still think $hitcoins are an actual viable option.
I am 100% Bitcoin

Yea it was a tough one and its not a regular occurrence that play extends past 40 minutes in the first half by that much. The comments after the match from some of the Irish players shows they were not happy with some of their play.
As I suspected with the second game yesterday Australia were beaten by Fiji, I kind of saw that coming after the Wales game (they were hard done by in that game by the ref!)

If I transfer BTC into my Coinbase account from a personal wallet, and then sell my BTC for Fiat/USD... am I subject to tax obligation?
If yes, how much? In other words, what type of taxation am I subject to?
Intuition says there is no tax, for this is not income, is this true?
You dont say where you are based, what country? because every country has their own system and some have similar ones to others. In my country profits from Crypto are classified as "Capital Gains" and fall into that tax bracket of 33%.
In other words, I can sell more than EUR 5000 worth of cryptocurrencies every day, completely legally without KYC, and buy, for example, a house after a month - the problem arises if someone reports me (which can be anonymous), and then I have the problem of proving where the money came from. If the amounts transferred are only small will you ever be asked to prove where they came from? I suspect not and only if the amounts get into the multiple 1000's will they seek proof...
