901  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do traders spend crypto when they can? on: January 06, 2020, 04:49:35 PM
Well it's been some interesting results and opinions. I am glad to read that almost no one here was in favor of a complete lock down of their trading profits. I'm in no way against people building up their capital and continuing to grow their financial circumstances - I did the same to grow my mining farm. Like I said I still also believe it is fundamental with any currency to have savings.
Whether you spend consistently or only on luxury/wants that's fine, I'm just glad to hear people still discuss spending their coins.

My problem has been the narrative that Vloggers and Bloggers that push to never sell or spend coins. It seems a dangerous line to promote turning it into a purely speculative asset when it's clearly capable of so much more. I get that I and no one else has a right to tell people the right way to do things, because what's right for me may not be for others. I also feel it would be reckless to not bring up these discussions from time to time to see the arguments for and against to either change my views or provide others with a narrative they may not be seeing anymore depending on how they enter the space.
I am curious about what and when people who chase that next high will think it's hit high enough. What's the plan at that point? Do you try and spend directly or just a straight Fiat conversion? I have no issue with people selling for Fiat, I do it quite frequently. I can pay bills directly using this method, it also allows me to get currencies such as USD that would cost me 3-5% minimum on exchange. You do what you can when trying to spend or use coins and if a Fiat conversion is all you have available there is no shame in that.

Edit: Just a note - please read through the thread.  Some replies are beginning to become redundant. If your reply is similar to another I appreciate you taking the time to read through but only reply if you have something new to add. I didn't Self-Mod the thread but will begin to report redundant and repetitive posts, to keep it clean and the discussion moving forward.
902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: January 06, 2020, 03:43:21 PM
that's why bet sizing is so important. i see a lot of guys in late position overbetting---like 3.5-4x into an empty pot, no antes---to steal blinds. it's a high risk/low reward situation. in that situation, i much prefer to bet small because weak players will still fold a similar amount of the time. they are also more likely to call a weak bet then shove all-in, because an overbet from late position makes for good pot odds for them to re-steal. i don't like to give the blinds favorable pot odds like that.
That's a great point. I have a fairly standard RFI, and if not first I do use a larger multiplier for 3-bet pre, if they come in light, or my hand calls for it. Min raising in first especially from early position is a pretty big flag for me that screams attack. The biggest thing there is stack sizes, as I've seen it played like a limp trap before; so it's one of those spots I try to balance with flatting. Hard to explain... for me anyways but even online you get a feel for who is just scared to get stacked.
Speaking of late position raises giving favorable pot odds - I love it when people Jam the button or cut-off (RFI pre), it reeks of desperation; this is usually how I get a good base for a tourney early on when I'm lucky enough to have even a half decent hand to defend my blind. The odd time it's someone with AA and there's not much you can do there, except suck out on them lol

great, i'm on ACR as well. i'd love to play on pokerstars or full tilt but alas, i'm in the states.
i'm pretty sure most of us would be happy to keep this low stakes. tourneys are always more fun than ring games IMO. ACR has private tournaments. we could set up a password-protected game. $5 or $10 buy-in etc? maybe we could make it a monthly or weekly affair. Smiley
Yeah that's a weird situation for you guys in the US, being state dependent where you can play from what I can tell. I was watching a Vlogger jump state lines so they could play a newly launched state-run online poker room. I had it pretty easy as far as being able to play anywhere pretty much; drawback is my bank and credit card won't allow a direct deposit to any site from what I could tell - All the more reason for BTC. More than happy with ACR so far - Withdrawals are a bit slow, and am still waiting to see what rate they use for my BTC equivalent as it has fluctuated quite a bit.
Black Friday must have been a bitch, I've talked with a couple people over the years who were either PRO or Semi, sounds like a fuk'n tough decision. Some relocated and just kept on trucking, but I can understand not uprooting entirely.

I love the idea of a private tourney. We should definitely talk on it some more maybe I'll start a thread about it to garner interest. I agree I'm much more a fan of a tournament than just a ring game, used to be purely for the amount of hands I could expect to play for experience. Even a small group would make it worth while. I'm not sure of a date yet, I work shift work and might be starting a new job in the next month or so. Once I know a day that works for sure I'll set something concrete up with you for sure. I'm pretty pumped for this.

I think the best strategy is to play safe and follow what the cards are. Also being extremely patient is a virtue only a few have and it adds up to your skills well.As for bluffing I would only use it as a last resource for example after I see all 5 cards and knew that I can’t win but I think the opponents are bluffing too.Trust me rarely use it and most of the time you will come up as a winner.
I used to think very similar to this. Unfortunately it's not always the case, sometimes the good hand isn't coming and when it does you can still be edged out. If you keep your bluffs balanced and disguised similar to bets with good holdings it's a very effective tool. I don't play much in the way of cash games; I do imagine I would be bluffing with a lower frequency if I did but would still find spots to try.
So true, poker is a patience game, we need to wait for the good hand but if the good hand never comes them bluffing is the way to stay alive until the good hand comes.
For the bluff I like to rise from the start and then all in after the 3 cards come to the table, that's a nice bluff.
I've used this as a strategy before, both with a strong hand and pure bluffs. It's generally done from Out of Position - I do only Jam the stack if I'm short other than that it's a standard C-bet size 3/4 or pot size. I do take in account the player positions and what I believe their range should be, if the flop appears to miss this then it's my time to take  a shot.
For my strategy i will play with patience and waiting until i have good cards and if i already have it then i will pretend have bad cards but i will call the bets to those who very liked to bluffing while playing and if everything's open in the table then at the end of game i will go to all in from my bets so usually those who have no good cards will fold and i won the money but this strategy needed extra patience to ensure our cards really good
Not bad to disguise you hand strength. Just keep in mind that you hand strength can weaken significantly if you just call along, sometime they bet using their fold equity expecting to put you off a decent hand. If you never let go their draws can get there, and if you Jam they are smiling. You might want to consider working in some re-raises on the turn to push them off their draws.
The only problem with poker is that it takes a lot of time.
That's the truth, I was up until 4:30 Am on Friday, started the tourney at about 10 ish. Now that only happened as I went deep, final table was a slow moving beast. Though these are the times it's definitely worth it. Unless I feel gambly and jump into a late reg, I make sure I have a minimum of 5 hours available and no hard plans afterwards in case.
Based on my experience, it's easy to win if you know the person you are playing with, and if you don't, stay low on the first half of the game and read them one by one. Poker will always be a bluff game, so don't establish a betting pattern, the more your bet is unpredictable, the more it is okay.
Very good points, a pattern easily gets picked up by good players. Having a strategy is what's needed and you have to work it around a lot of different factors. Getting a read on people is good, but definitely don't forget that you still want to get in at the right spots for your hand strength and stack size.

Sorry for not coming back with some hands. I need to download some software, I should have grabbed long ago. My old site had hand history and replay available right there on the table so it was easier to review, ACR can be clunkier in that way. I will get that done tonight and when I hit the tables on Wednesday and Thursday I'll bring some hands back to the thread.
Side note on my play. I moved up in stakes on Friday, the night started with me playing my usual games of 1-3$ and luck was not with me, as I got stacked a few times; let's say against questionable hands that were likely played by individuals who could care less about the money... or the game. I hate seeing people say things like "chill, it's a 2$ tourney" to justify playing hands like 94 off suit. Not all of them, but enough that it mixed in to essentially ruin the experience that evening. So I jumped up to a 10$ game - Not advice to "chase the loss" as some would say, but this is well within my budget for playing. So far I've noticed the frequency has declined of let's call'em "Donks", and I can feel the increased level strategy and gameplay. I've decided to stay at this level, doesn't hurt I took that Friday night tournament down.  Wink
903  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] 25$ PP [W] BTC on: January 06, 2020, 02:09:25 PM
Hey I can do this for you if it's still available. I will be online for the next couple hours and can send the BTC whenever. I'm assuming USD as that's what I need at the moment. Feel free to PM me for a PP address.
904  Other / Meta / Re: [Updated January 4] LoyceV's Trust list viewer - Create your own Trust list! on: January 05, 2020, 09:26:58 PM
Sorry for the late jump in. When using chrome i can't access anything beyond what loads on the initial page. If i scroll or click a link nothing loads. If i use explorer then it works fine. I'm on mobile and can't check for sure - I know it doesn't work on my phones chrome either. It will load using the samsung internet browser.

So at least on my end it's a chrome issue - imagine that lol
905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: January 04, 2020, 09:02:43 PM
~snip~Good luck on the tables.  Wink
Thanks that's good advice I'll play around with what I've found so I can try and bring something polished in here for discussion. Wish
up against nitty players, it's tough not to get a bit loose-aggressive. on the button or in the cutoff position against weak nits, i'll raise any two cards. every once in a while, they catch a hand---that's the game.
~snip~
that'd be cool. it's been a few months, but i've been getting the hankering to fire up ACR and get a few tables going. MTTs are an old pastime of mine. maybe i can join you in some hand analysis. Smiley
maybe we could even get a bitcointalk private game going sometime. where do you play?
That's exactly what it felt like... that or they were sick of losing blinds either way hand was definitely caught in the cookie jar there. Like you said part of the game.
I definitely welcome anyone wanting to take part in analysis and just general chat. I'll try and take some time to get set up and put something together. I've played on and off for a few years usually call it quits when I drain the small bankroll. This time I took a different approach and decided to be a bit more focused. It's paid off. Currently I'm only playing on ACR, they drew me in with the BTC deposits. A Bitcointalk crew game would be pretty epic - might be tough finding enough players that fit the same stakes but definitely would be a good time I think. If you think we could get something like that going I'd be down for sure.

Don't have time to respond to everyone, but just to clarify for some. You need to bluff in poker - it just has to be a balanced part of your game. It's no different an aspect than raising, betting or checking; if you aren't trying it you will not win - unless you have a very well placed horseshoe  Wink

Last night I had the opportunity to try something new in a final table and it was pretty sweet. Made final 2 and just steamrolled my opponent for the win. I'm still not trying to be results oriented and this past month or so is a small sample but I think I've been doing a decent job of plugin leaks and not letting a bad beat or sucking out wins sway me from my overall gameplan.
906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: January 03, 2020, 01:30:34 PM
I was originally just planning on talking about how whatever your strategy is, no matter how much you plan there is still a weak link - and it's the player. I got on this thought as I was playing the other day, and got into that mind set of my bets and bluffs just couldn't miss. Had a pretty good run on taking blinds and chipping up after a good hand where I was just behind. Then I went loose on my range and just pushed a pure bluff, pre-flop and got caught. Had to fold the hand as they had me covered and jammed, this left me nearly crippled and I just couldn't recover.

It was in doing a bit of hand analysis - this one didn't take long - that I thought about sharing poker stories here. I've been playing a lot lately, mostly tournaments. So I figured I would gauge interest in sharing some more interesting hands, like key double ups, or beats both bad and deserved. Finally the hands that get me eliminated, often these won't be anything of interest as they will be an all-in from short stack, but I've had some beauties over the years that I didn't see coming.

It would depend on the week but I generally play 3 or 4 nights a week depending on my work schedule, and would maybe make a post or 2. I know it's not the general gambling discussion that goes on, but figured there's gotta be a few people who may take an interest.

I would also totally welcome others to post their tales. By the way I'm not pro, I play micro-low stakes, and just really enjoy playing (ignore those 20 seconds after some hands) and trying to improve.
907  Economy / Speculation / Re: New year and forecasts on: January 03, 2020, 11:57:43 AM
I'm not going to lie. I've given up on caring what channels and "news" are predicting for the price. I really only believe that that the long term it is going to rise. I did make a prediction guess in Micgoosens latest giveaway, which is definitely on the highside for this quarter, but it's more of what I would expect a high of this year to reach, and that's 14 950 or so - real close to you.

In the end I've funnily moved towards the 1BTC = 1BTC, it will just depend how much of it I have to use to buy what I need or sell for what I need that will change. Probably not what you are looking for  Grin
It's just the mindset I've found myself left with after pulling at threads the last few months.
908  Economy / Trading Discussion / Do traders spend crypto when they can? on: January 03, 2020, 11:45:28 AM
This isn't a trading thread per say. I've just been doing a lot of thinking lately about the state of BTC or crypto in general, and have found myself drifting into negativity regarding certain groups. Damn generalizations creeping in and harshly judging people without digging deeper - today it's the trading side of crypto.

So diving in, I am in the Pro "spend what you can when you can camp" ( No different than anything I still feel one needs to have some portion of savings) I think if we aren't spending crypto to encourage businesses to adopt it where is the endgame. I also feel like a lot of the crypto rich have abandoned creating a market environment for one that really only benefits "gains". There are so many trading platforms out there when you compare against say online marketplaces; or even attempts at marketplaces. My only issue really comes down to how does trading benefit the overall BTC and crypto ecosystem if trading is the only activity users are performing with their coins.

I'm not saying it's entirely bad. Trading has helped bring a lot of people seeking profits into the space, but are they doing anything else? So I'd like to know what you do with your trading gains, does it just roll into a larger bag,  do you sell and cash out in Fiat, or are you trying to also spend coins when the opportunity presents itself. I'm open to all opinions, as I'm sure many people here see things differently. I've just had thoughts that this aspect of the overall economy has developed disproportionately to the marketplace portion, and feel it has a net negative effect.

Does the machine start-up and run normal for any period of time? If so then it could be an issue like below. If not then it sounds like a hardware issue.

Can you tell us more about how the miners are placed? Is this happening to more than 1 of your miners? Does the problem happen more when the temperature is closer to 30 or is it sporadic? What sort of board temperatures are you seeing on the miners themselves.

Your space may be cool enough in general but you could also be facing an issue with short-circuiting airflow - warm exhaust making it's way to the intake. I haven't had an antminer in a long time so I'm not familiar with that error.

911  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Thought I got scammed but now what? on: January 03, 2020, 04:27:37 AM
You don't even know what you're talking about.
You will find this a lot around here so take it with a grain of salt. First sorry you most likely got scammed, it happens, I know from experience. This sounds like it may have been some form of a ponzi. Now on the off chance the company is legit the address they are looking for is  a public receiving address for your wallet.

Not sure about coinbase but it should honestly be as easy as hitting "receive" or "fund" and then sending the company that address. This is also really easy through blockchain.com... I think now haven't used them in a long time. I am glad to her you say that you will not send them any funds, as this is a common scam tactic to get more of your funds. They will claim it's needed to verify it's you.

There isn't really much else to be said but I did find this for coinbase. Hope that helps. https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1027432-where-is-my-wallet-address-

Use this lesson in the future, and do more research in a project. Best of luck.
912  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up my first bitcoin mine in garage on: January 03, 2020, 02:15:43 AM
Thanks for getting  back to me guys.
What do you all think of the Dragonmint 16T?
Avoid like the plague they are. They were a terrible product and have no support available for them at all. You are much better off finding used S9's. Apart from that I always reference a new miner here - First time/Small miner reference for getting started.

Biggest thing for you will be just making sure you are exhausting the air directly outside of your mining space. Here is a thread of my garage this past summer, not a large mine by any means and your average temp is proabably closer to my highest. I used the concrete slab of my garage for the added heat dispersal, and aimed the tunnel directly outside. Dust is also a concern but cheap filters are more than enough generally.  Summer Mining - Home miner

Best of luck. I do suggest however weighing your options of what you are going to spend on gear against outright purchasing coins. Not to discourage you, but I continue to push forward because I move almost all of my hardware inside for the winter to heat my house. Canada problems lol.
913  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When was your last "Oh, shit!" moment - How did it turn out? on: January 03, 2020, 02:08:07 AM
Yeah I'll be sure to have a copy of my current Firmware or at least confirm with Yang there is something else available. If the 49TH is quiet enough it goes inside if not then I go back to the original and leave it out in the garage. I should actually check it's power draw out there, as I'm pretty sure I have it running in it's coldest possible environment. Thanks again.
914  Economy / Reputation / Re: Plagiarism apologist #92110 “cryptohunter” rationalized dishonesty in principle on: January 02, 2020, 03:04:43 AM
Welcome back.
Though I must imagine you have been keeping up with the forum just not logging in or posting. I'm just going to disagree with you on your left feedback. While your opinions are your to have and use to shape how you interact with others. The trust system as a tool, like all others, a right and wrong way to be put to use. I'm sure I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but it has to be said. This is at best a neutral, there is no grounds for a negative feedback in this case. Your reference should in fact be pointing to a case of them scamming or trying to scam an individual. The course of action that you should be taking is ~ them from your trust list as you don't trust their judgement. Beyond that you can say anything you like about their character and poor judgement in defending those that you find indefensible in a neutral comment on their feedback wall.

I'm sure the discussion here will go over my head at points, I can admit it especially when some of it become tl;dr in regards to having to reason why we are doing something. There is a clear intent behind this new system and I don't understand why intelligent individuals are blatantly choosing to ignore the intent behind it. Actions such as this are honestly only emboldening the individuals who feel on the outs, or that having opinions are why they are targeted. They then use these instances as a lightning rod to others, and they aren't wrong when they get handed these gifts that "prove" their opinions on the system to be right.

I feel you have likely read this, if not I recommend it. LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system
915  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When was your last "Oh, shit!" moment - How did it turn out? on: January 02, 2020, 02:37:57 AM
My last and biggest "Oh, shitttt" was just a while ago when my main circuit breaker went on fire , i wrote the whole story right after it happened, it was really scary and tragic, I think I am very lucky that it ended like that, could have been much worse.
Right I remember reading up on that. Met yourself a good friend when in need out of that situation. Glad that's been the worst of it.

~snip~
My miner is worm, moves it, shelf mate torches them both. Fuck that is a damn lucky scenario that you had been around. It's bad enough when it's your gear but to have it pull hosted gear and the farm infrastructure into the mini disaster is just getting kicked while down. I'm glad to hear the second story was minimal especially after the first, I guess you might have seen a report or gotten a phone call if it had been the whole farm up in flames. I probably won't ever use those jam in connectors again now lol. Tried them on a few plugs but wasn't a fan anyways.
~snip~
Nice score finding those guys and the firmware. I should get around to playing with my m20s this week sometime.
916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Online] Misclicks - Let's hear the stories good, bad, funny on: January 02, 2020, 02:24:29 AM
Sucks to be you bro, but it happens to the best of us.
Now, onto the important issue, where are you playing PvP Poker for crypto? I have been looking for a trustworthy site like this for a long time, and still haven't found one to this day.
I've been looking for some turbo games since that helps to filter out all the HUDs people use.
In any case, I've also had some fat finger moments playing poker... Accidentally going all-in against an obvious house and even went all in pre-flop only to get smashed by quads another time. Fortunately these were only low stake games so I didn't have a huge stack, but it just goes to show these mistakes are easy to make.
Yeah it's worse when the mistake happens and you already clearly know you are beat. I had a glimmer of hope for a minute at least. I'm actually not playing for crypto straight up. I'm using Americas Card Room, they allow deposits and withdrawals in BTC. I actually prefer it this way myself. They do have a turbo sort of format that I played with a little for micro cash game. It was interesting enough I may play with it some more in the future.
The worse part is, I did it TWICE. IN A ROW.
Yeah I'd call it a misclick. Damn but twice is rough especially when that is 90X your intended bet.
My was not even blur vision or mis-look. But instead, a hang phone.
My phone froze
I stopped using my phone for poker a while ago for this reason. The App for my previous site hasn't been updated in years from what I can tell. There where plenty of times when my network seemed to drop for a second, then it would lock you out of the hand, even if you logged out and back in with time to spare in the bank. More than one hand lost to this for sure. It just wasn't worth it, especially when it was just the app crashing and you were just left there looking at you AA time out. lol
I myself had a story with a distribution of $ 500 in Texas Hold'em. I put the whole stack with a small card with a very weak card, the opposite leveled my bet with a pair of aces.
However, I was lucky to catch on the flop two pairs that subsequently stood on the river, I won. Amazing luck.
I feel like I played you last night. It's the nature of cards that there are so many flip opportunities. I've been playing a lot more recently and am trying not to let these beats stick with me to often. It's much worse when they bet/call and only get there on the river. You just have to wonder what they were thinking.

917  Economy / Exchanges / Re: New Exit Scamming Exchange? on: December 30, 2019, 12:31:42 AM
I'd say the usual recipe still allows deposits but has "temporary" withdrawal issues. I've never used them and have no idea what they have been like as an exchange. Regardless this is just another good reminder to not keep any coins on an exchange long term.

918  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 253 blocks solved! on: December 29, 2019, 08:21:02 PM
I love your communal pirate spirit, but if it were to hit you are just splitting up your reward for risking all this solo mining time. 1 machine finds every block, so you are better positioned to continue to solo that yourself and allow your gamble to pay off, for you guys if the pooled coins hit a block.

Best of luck on this gamble. Nice for you guys to start getting it in before the ~5% possible Diff jump were looking at.
919  Other / Meta / Re: IS GIVING RED-TRUST THAT NON-EXPLANATORY ? on: December 29, 2019, 08:17:16 PM
Lauda should be blacklisted from being on anyone’s trust list unless they explicitly add him to their trust list, and ditto for any of his alts. The same should be done for any other person who similarly gives trust.
I disagree. The second we go all blacklisty on things it's no longer a community controlled system. People just need to continue to show how the system should be used, and point out when it is clearly being used outside of what is acceptable. Then informed of their options. ~ should be used as opposed to blacklisting. I also don't think we should be deciding who people can and can't add to their list, it's their choice if that's the sort of rating system they think has value.
920  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🐺WOLF.BET - Provably fair dice game 🎲 $1,000 Daily Race💰7-day streak bonus🔥 on: December 29, 2019, 07:58:32 PM
I wanted to bring this here as I'm out of my depth with this and can't be sure whether this user has notified or tried to notify wolf.bet about their concern. It seems like something that should be looked into by the company and/or people that can verify and close the potential security risk.
I'm here to warn everyone that WOLF.Bet's security is NOT GOOD.

When logging in the site connects to this url
https://wolf.bet/api/v1/login
it sends this json payload {"login":"User","password":"Pass"}

As you can see, they have no tokens, no password encryption.
You can crack accounts very easy using Openbullet or programs alike.
I made a working account cracker < 3 minutes.

However, their API is private which is somewhat good I suppose and when I tried making my program withdraw I got unauthorized but I am sure if I spent more than 5 minutes I could automatically make it withdraw to my BTC address.

To wolf.bet:
- Add Recaptcha to your site
- Encrypt passwords before they get sent to your server
- use CSRF tokens, etc. (these are quite useless but they help somewhat)
