961  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any chance Hillary Clinton could be gay? on: July 04, 2014, 07:25:46 PM
...even if she were gay, she would never announce (now of all times) right before her presidential run.

Are you kidding?  Hillary's approval rating would skyrocket if she announced she was gay.  People love gays.

Hillary is not gay.  She's a pragmatist.  She will have sex with or kill whomever she pleases if the action is pragmatic at the time.

Hillary is uniquely qualified to supervise the collapse of the Empire.

Vote Hillary 2016!  Let's get this done!

yeah, that's why gay people are not allowed to marry in more states than they are.. and that's why we've had so many gay presidents.
962  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BetMoose.com - Bet on Real World Events | Create your Own Contracts | P2P on: July 04, 2014, 08:04:02 AM
cool site.. but like predictious, there doesn't seem to be enough volume or activity. since you guys recently launched, hopefully that will change soon.
963  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any chance Hillary Clinton could be gay? on: July 04, 2014, 07:20:00 AM
^ yeah i've been looking at their site for the past 30 mins.. i'm definitely sold on them. predictious doesn't seem to have much volume either.

im looking at the leaderboard and it doesn't seem like many people are betting all that much. the guy with the most winnings is .48 btc so far.
964  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any chance Hillary Clinton could be gay? on: July 04, 2014, 06:55:37 AM
they shouldn't be posting those kinds of bets/events. even if she were gay, she would never announce (now of all times) right before her presidential run.

Anyone can host anything at betmoose - up to the bettors to decide what to bet on Tongue. You're right it's kinda silly but still good for a laugh sometimes, I've seen a lot of funny bets get buried created that I would never bet on but are interesting to consider

I made a random one the other day as well:

https://www.betmoose.com/bet/which-will-happen-first-354

i've been looking at some sites.. which do you like the best? i know of betmoose and preditious.. the gap between the sell ask and buy ask is too much though. it wouldn't be worth cashing out until the event occurs.
965  Other / Off-topic / Re: FACEBOOK IS DEAD on: July 04, 2014, 06:18:00 AM
i would prefer twitter than to use crappy facebook

twitter has no use for me.. no use but to watch famous people tweet shit. facebook, on the other hand, is a good way of getting in contact o your friends. that's all i use it for.. it's basically a glorified AIM for me.

967  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you could move to any country, which would you choose? on: July 03, 2014, 09:03:59 PM
I love being from the United States and wouldn;t want ot live anywhere else but if I had to choose a new spot to live i'd pick Brazil, Costa Rica, Canada, or Australia.

Just wondering, what are your justifications for Canada?
I understand you want to stay in the US, but I currently live in Canada, and am interested what in your opinion are the benefits.

from my anecdotal experience, i'd say canadians are generally more educated than americans (europeans are more educated than we are too).. and not they are nice people. weather sucks though.
968  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should the government "erase" the student debt? on: July 03, 2014, 08:06:06 PM
How about a trade? Perhaps a program that forgives some of your debt in exchange for volunteering. You could chose Americorp, military service, peace corp, or other federal service organizations. You would not only get a break on your debt, but a resume line.

problem is that no one wants to pay for increased funding in education. instead, they rather us spend billions on "defense," so we can exploiter other poorer countries that we treat like colonies.

our government is comfortable with sending our guys abroad to die, but they're not willing to foot the bill if someone comes back handicapped. and the thing is, all of this is done not for our safety, but just for hegemonial dominance. it actually creates more america haters and terrorists than anything.
969  Economy / Gambling / Re: Predictious.com | The Premier Bitcoin Prediction Market | Trade & Win Bitcoins! on: July 03, 2014, 08:02:59 PM
I think the spreads will get tighter as we get closer to the election.  As you said, the election is still over 2 years away and there will be more interest in it as time goes on.  You could put up a bid or offer for an amount in between what is available and it might get filled.  For example:  Buy Rand Paul at 0.99.

the 2014 election shares are up, and there's still a big disparity between buy and sell. i too am thinking that with more volume, the gap between buy and sell will close. but as it stands, there is no point in buying and not letting your shares expire.
970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC!? on: July 03, 2014, 08:00:50 PM
You're ignoring a huge difference between real money and BTC.  A business cannot risk actually touching BTC, as their banks would likely stop doing business with them.  They also risk becoming a target of launderers, and thus risk criminal investigation.  Besides the wild fluctuations in value that make BTC as a currency very dumb, the rampant criminal activity in this community assures that no business will touch BTC except through shady VC-funded ops like Bitpay.

You're getting pretty desperate to justify your outdated viewpoint, keep the blinders on, the world will move on without you Wink.

Sorry for feeding the troll, I'll stop.

i'm not quite sure if he's a troll, but he's definitely wrong. overstock has hoarded some bitcoins, and im sure banks are still working with them.

972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Bitcoin Auction Winner Tim Draper Won't Say How Much He Paid on: July 03, 2014, 06:55:37 PM
I highly doubt that one person or organization will be able to buy the 144k coins that will be available after DPR's trial. Then again, bitcoin could be worth a lot less, so  its hard to speculate, but my btc is on it being much higher.

i doubt it'll happen, but 144k coins is only $94 million at $650 per bitcoin. a whale who has big plans could afford that, but it's probably too risky.
973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC!? on: July 03, 2014, 06:45:58 PM
I have never shopped at newegg, but from what i have seen about the company, it looks really good for BTC. I checked out the website, I like how they announce BTC adoption right on the homepage. A lot of the larger corporations that started accepting BTC (like Dish Network), did not do that...

man, you're from CA but never shopped at newegg? what is with that? outside of amazon, newegg is probably the biggest internet retailer in america. maybe you don't want to pay the 9% sales tax though.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Bitcoin Auction Winner Tim Draper Won't Say How Much He Paid on: July 03, 2014, 06:39:39 PM
The price is kind of irrelevant. Auction prices do not set market prices in any economy.

wrong. bitcoin still has a relatively small market cap, so one whale who's willing to spend on 30k coins is going to largely sway the price of bitcoin. if everyone knows a whale with that kind of money is willing to back it, people will feel more secure in investing.
975  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 03, 2014, 06:38:55 PM
all this good news and bitcoin doesn't quite seem bullish.. i guess it's a little bit impervious. at this point, news on adoption rate probably isn't enough.. we're gonna need that ETF and wallstreet to see some big gains. or maybe people are just not in the spending mood right now.

Looks bullish enough to me, nice horizontal bull flag forming right now and this could go on for a couple more days before the way up is clear of resistance. Price can't go up continuously in a bull market, it can go sideways for several weeks or retrace back a bit before moving up again.

it's been teetering and tottering between $570 and $670 for the past month. $200 gains in about 2 months is not bad at all, but not what we are used to seeing.
976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kuwait finance firm suggests trading oil in bitcoins on: July 03, 2014, 06:37:31 PM
kuwaiti finance firm.. i really doubt they are good guys. they just want the US to keep their paws off of influencing everything in the mideast.
977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Bitcoin Auction Winner Tim Draper Won't Say How Much He Paid on: July 03, 2014, 06:35:36 PM
^ it's the same with satoshi's privacy. i find it quite funny that satoshi is quite the legend here, and how everyone loves him (probably because he made them wealthy). yet, if you revere him so much, why are you so interested in going AGAINST his wishes.. and try to dox/expose him? that's obviously not what he wants.

people only want privacy when it benefits them. and transparency when it benefits them.
978  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should the government "erase" the student debt? on: July 03, 2014, 06:22:33 PM
it should be easier to get an education.. the more educated people are, the less shit government can pull. problem is, government doesn't want educated people.
It is easier to get an education.  We have computers now. We have internet. We have YouTube. We have so many new tools thanks to technology that requires us to change our way of action.

I learned how to design and code (front and back end) early in highschool thanks to video lectures I was able to gain access to and stream online.  This was outside of the useless shit I was learning in school.  I was passionate and still am about technology. Then I entered college with a sharp skillet and so much experience and I was surrounded by kids obsessed with video games and cat video games and they thought they were hardcore.  Epic failures.

just because you learned code online on your own doesn't mean everyone else is capable of doing that. most people are just simply not able to learn a useful skill by browsing the web. education also involves other skills where you need to be directly trained for a vocation.
979  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you could move to any country, which would you choose? on: July 03, 2014, 06:20:55 PM
Not sure I've traveled enough to be quite sure. I could see Germany, Holland, maybe Belgium. I also love East Asia, and Hong Kong especially, but I'm not sure I could cut it there living full time... Smiley

My heritage is German, and I would love to live there. Only issue is their citizenship laws not supporting dual citizenship.
Germany has a lot of debt, and it has Euro (which is a shitty coin and will probably fail along with the rest of EU).
Also Germany has a real problem with immigrants.

didn't they bail out greece and spain? i'd imagine they would monetize that.. probably have those guys by the balls now.

another country that might be worthwhile: thailand. cost of living is cheap, yet it's not quite a 3rd world country. a lot of westerners live there.

Not only that, but people don't want educated people.  The general public seems to hate smart people.

general public? i don't think so. i think the general public is okay with that. a lot of it is republicans who shame you for having an education. there are many examples, but one was from rick santorum in the 2012 primaries where he used airquotes to talk about people who go to "college." he even said something like "those educated people are not like us at all."
