Been buying some on Cryptsy over the last couple of days, but more is always good.

5kRM6P9s2dKTGdhkz8nYGYUsn9TxrZnBsM

Like the name, like the rarity, this is a coin with some real potential.
Not too happy about the price right now, but I'm pretty sure it'll rise.

Edit 13/01/2014: Just received 0.1 CGB, thank u very much!

Until those issues are resolved, though, I believe that all the marketing savvy NXT folks should start making a BIG STINK out of the fact that NOBODY has been able to find a flaw yet in the other topic!  Who knows? ...such marketing stunt could continue all the way till April 3!!!  Grin

You know, I've been reading that thread with NO knowledge of code whatsoever with the intention of being able to write about it.

So far the only angle that presents itself to me is "people are doing  Huh, about  Huh, but apparantly all is still  Grin. There is some  Roll Eyes going on, but CfB has went  Tongue and  Wink, so all is probably well"

I'm so out of my league there that I feel like I'm a toddler that's been admitted to university.

Yep, I'm with u there. Any code more advanced that a 3 line .bat file makes my brain go into Homer S. mode.

But I did read the bug threads, and it seems like a case of "no news is good news".
Lots of smart people, some of them very anti-NXT, have taken the code to pieces and can't find any show-stopping problems. Yay  Grin

I'm thinking a bit at the moment about marketing, and it seems to me that we need to take a "big bang" approach at a certain moment in the near future, just drop a massive, co-ordinated marketing bomb on the world.

The first 2 things we need are:

1) A truly stable and idiot proof client for Windows and Mac.
2) Simple, reliable exchanges capable of handling serious trade volume.

Once we have those 2 things up and running to everyones satisfaction, then we drop the marketing bomb and watch the world run to NXT......

The bomb needs to consist of:

Press releases, both to the web and to old-school news sources (TV, print, radio....)

A publicity stunt (like the idea from 400 pages ago of giving 1 mega-NXT to Max Keiser)

Giveaways, guides and promotions for the new NXT users.

Publicity materials and giveaways, such as stickers, T-shirts and other swag

I'm gaing to be having a chat with some marketing guys in the next few days, see if I can turn my vague ideas into some sort of real plan. Might open a topic on nxtcrypto for this later in the evening, got to go AFK for a while.

Tell me what ya think, anyhow.

@Damelon.....the mimes are coming.

NWO: just out of curiousity, what is your number 2 most scammy coin, after NXT ?
2184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm dumping Nxt and here's why you should too on: January 08, 2014, 10:19:03 AM
Something to do with dwarves, yeah?

My, we are getting grumpy.

Sorry I must have missed that time in history when all of Americas wealth was distributed amongst a handful of lucky donors and the rest of America had to buy their way in for a 10000% premium. Usually people work for money being USD (jobs, inheretence etc), BTC (mining), etc.

Idiot.

So I can conclude that u also have a problem with people buying into Bitcoins potential wealth at an insane premium.
Maybe I should ask some early BTC adopters to release their reserves at a reasonable price, say $1 per BTC, so the rest of us can catch up. Sounds fair to me......
2186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm dumping Nxt and here's why you should too on: January 08, 2014, 09:24:22 AM
You guys are going to so much effort to shoot NXT down that it's almost impossible not to conclude that you have a hidden agenda.

Are u simply aesthetically outraged by the sight of a messy Java clent being patched up on the fly?

Or are you simply trolling for the FUD of it?

I checked out NXT (and a big pile of other alt-coins) before I invested.
My conclusion is that NXT is a promising crypto with a very motivated community and a lot of potentially game changing features.
Sure, its got problems, distribution sucks for one. I should get much more.....
But I do not think NXT is a deliberate scam.

There are a lot of truly obvious scam coins on the market, why single out NXT for all this attention?

Because if you read the thread instead of going straight to 'reply' you would have a grasp on why people do not like Nxt. I'm not going to spoon feed you AGAIN (it has been mentioned multiple times by many users) why Nxt is a bad investment. Do what you like with your BTC and keep thinking people have hidden agendas instead of actually trying to warn the community.

I've got no problem with acknowledging that NXT is a long way from perfect. It might work out brilliantly, or it may crash and burn.
Almost all of your objections to NXT could have been applied to BItcoin 5 years ago.

But I dont see you putting quite so much effort into warning the community about other coins that may have problems. Visacoin, for example?
2187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 08, 2014, 01:11:21 AM
It's not just confusing, it's total bullshit. Graviton made for the community more than most of us. If someone doesn't like fees, then remember how much money did you make on Dgex or outside it but because there was such thing as Dgex. If there was no Dgex and nextcoin.org we'd still have Nxt around 0.000001 Btc and one thread here on bitcointalk.

When one do not charge you to get in and later do not allow you to get out for free than it is called a scam. Very simple.
Should I mention it takes as long as 2+ days to get NXT out, with a 0.9 PERCENT fee?

On a funny note, check nxt:rawdog  Grin

Peace!

I think we need less DGEX hating round here. It can't have been exactly easy keeping DGEX (mostly) up and running over the last few weeks.
May I remind u guys of the heady times of the alias rush and DDoS attacks 2 weeks ago?
DGEX was the only game in town, and without it NXT wuld be a lot worse off now.

I stll don't like the withdrawal fee, but 0.17% trade fee isn't exactly theft. Anyone wanna tell me what Cryptsy charges for trades?

At the end of it all, DGEX is a business. Graviton and company will have had to throw a lot of real money at it, they will need to see some back, otherwise no more DGEX. Which won't help NXT one bit.

"Buy on red, sell on green"

--Confucius (i think)

It sounds counter-intuitive at first, but it does make sense.
For short-term profit: buy when prices are dropping, sell when they're rising.

For long term....just buy and forget. Come back in a year or two.
Don't spend any time at all monitoring the markets, unless you like to be stressed every time Bitcoin catches a cold.
2190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 07, 2014, 08:56:57 PM
prices pretty stable on ripple and I think also stable on nxtchg

Yeah, we stabilized around 0.05, nice to see decent support in NXT.

There was one guy today who just came, dumped 25 K NXT on auto then withdrew and left.
That's when the price hit 0.02 and it started to look gloomy.

Yeah I know I was lucky to catch some from him  Grin

.02...ben jaloers.

and DGEX is back up to 0.00005010.

Got me 1 kNXT @ 4000, so I'm a bit happier.....
2192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 07, 2014, 12:43:13 PM
I wonder, how low we will go today... It's 0.000036 even on DGEX...

That is really-really ugly.
I am managing Nxt investments from 3 friends. It was their first crypto-investment. They got in at 0.00006. All 3 called me today already what to do now and if we should sell.. I told the mnot to panic. I hope I will be right...

As I've said before:  Don't Panic !

If the price drops, buy more, and tell yr friends to do the same.

Unless u are a founder, there really is no good time to buy into a crypto. There will nearly always be a lower buy-in price or a higher sell price somewhere down the line.

These are still very early days for NXT, so a lot of market up and down is going to happen. Dont sweat it.

(Just for a laugh: I helped a friend of mine buy into BTC at the top of the last peak, precisely before the China news broke and BTC dropped 50%. He wasn't happy then, but he's a lot more cheerful about it now.)

Debuggers:
Ricot, ImmortAlex, FrictionlessCoin

That is a DISGRACE!?!?!   Angry

FC might well be one of the most annoying trolls ever, but I seem to recall (somewhere in the source bug threads) that he did make a useful contribution or two.

Its still a scam !!

Nice try, guys, gotta admire your persistence

This has nothing to do with NXT:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.0

If u give these guys any money, u will never see it again.

exnomm is now definitely a sock puppet, or really, really stupid.
2198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 06, 2014, 06:35:30 PM

yeah, but in fiat-world the top 10% don't need to cash out (into fiat) if they need money. In NXT-world if lets say the top 5 stakeholders decide to cash out everything, NXT will die because price will drop to zero.

and even if distribution is similar in many western countries (i don't think that it's this extreme as it's with NXT at the moment), that doesn't mean that this is good Wink

i don't want to be to pessimistic, i just want NXT to succeed! Smiley

I wonder how can people say these bullshits when they have no proof... Guess what. Millions had been sold, a few times quite fast. And price of Nxt?? Stabile. Period

Mybe it IS bullshit, i really have no proof. But it would just make sense to me if some people want to sell 200m NXT in one day and there are not enough bidders, then the price will drop. Don't you think?

If they sell it over a longer period of time, then yes, i think that has happened a few times. And that IS GOOD for NXT. I like it that way. But as long as there are few who have much it's still possible to drop the price to zero, that's just what i think, if it's bullshit or not.

Problem with your pessimistic thinking here is that if a big stakeholder decides to go for an all-out sale, he or she can drive the price to zero, maybe kill NXT and then will be left with a big stake of ....... nothing.

So it is the interests of the initial stakeholders to let the NXT out in a fairly linear fashion, bit by bit, so that they can maintain a reasonable level of wealth. Same goes for Bitcoin early adopters and any other crypto, see Doge for example.

(And I like darkNXT, lets make it official)
