Need to see some info from older clients, I've got 5.10, like most of us, anyone on 5.9 or older?

So are we forking badly or not?
noob question but what happens when it forks??? Everyone engages "headless chicken mode" and runs around shouting. We should have only one blockchain, that every node agrees on. In a fork, some nodes seperate from the group and head off on an independent blockchain for some reason. It could be that all of the older clients (ie 5.9) are on a side chain Or that the newest clients (5.10) are. Conclusion? NEX is bullshit. The only "feature" separating it from Nxt is VERY fataly flawed. Is fictioncoin knowingly pushing broken garbage to take 1 mil Nxt out of the pocket of Nxt investors and put it in his? Maybe, maybe not. Can you trust the person's thinking that brought you a system this flawed? That's for you to decide. My personal opinion is NO. This whole "IPO" is pretty stinky, along with the other "projects" I've seen him involved in. I'd be cautious, skeptical and highly suspicious.
Thank you for analysis. The proof of burn feature will not be with the Nxt clone. : the only original(ish) feature of NEX gets thrown out of the window at the very first sign of criticism. Do you actually have any faith in your own promises (and their achieveability) or are u simply prepared to say anything to get investors in? BTW: Love the FC/solracx posting pattern on the iXCoin todo list. The Reddit takeover post is very weird (and sod all to do with me, btw, if u were being suspicious) Looks like u have a mole in yr group....this will bear watching. Fun and frolics for all.... |

Softened version of the above with a touch of glow: Still looking for directions. Red or gold?   Pushing the red any darker makes it hard to read at smaller sizes; e.g.  Maybe a vote of some kind? In total non-troll mode: I really like the gold version, the red version comes across as a bit aggressive/shouty. Gold is good @FC/solra/etc.

These won't work. They are easily defeated by splitting your wealth over several accounts. I'm in favor of one vote per NXT. That maximizes the value of each NXT rather than the value of having multiple accounts, or paying people to scam the system for you in some other way. Any time you try to decentralized system that makes it difficult to game the system, you restrict the people who game the system to people who are willing to go against the implied moral contract of the platform (that you'll play by the rules). In that way, I suggest it is better to allow everybody to "cheat" so that "cheating" is performed by good actors AND bad actors instead of just by actors willing to be bad. NXT has a major concentration of wealth right now, but that's changing pretty quickly and if it gets popular I've got to imagine the temptation to sell part of their stakes will be too great for most. It's really interesting watching this community - you guys are the only "headless" metalayer, lacking a founder or team and yet delivering with real working software. Energy efficiency over Bitcoin is a valid point. Saying switching to NXT is going to Save The World is a stretch. We should not go there.
Ricky, unique.....If we are going to debate personal politics, here is so not the right place. I think you guys and I are probably in the same camp on these issues, but GW is simply too damn emotive an issue to allow into this thread. Head for off-topic section if we must have a NXT + GW debate. Or religion, or politics.... NXT is a currency (and it's associated eco-system) Like it or not, everyone (left/right/whatever) can use it for their own purposes. One of the coolest aspects of the NXT community is how a wide variety of people are working together on a collective project. If there is one issue big government loves more than global warming it is difficult to tell. And if there is one group who hates big government more than Libertarians it is equally difficult to tell.
Stop it already with the "green" emphasis. Please.
Let's so not get into a debate about Global Warming. Not even slightly. We will waste way too much time, got better things to do. Energy consumption and energy conservation is important, offsetting emmissions is very PR friendly and can be a great USP for NXT if played right. Thats it. I know its tricky, but lets leave some of our personal opinions/beliefs at the door. |
