1881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Nxt now on Cryptmarket! [articles bounties] on: February 01, 2014, 11:20:13 PM
I found URL that lists charities that accept bitcoin https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Donation-accepting_organizations_and_projects

Most seem to be pretty techie and not the greenpeace type of places. Using the energy saving angle, we could get some of the non-profits to actively support NXT. It might be a bit of a hot potato, but maybe it is worth doing?

James

P.S. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4869853#msg4869853 has a post about swarming trade shows with solar raspis. Working on shaking loose funding from unclaimed funds to pay for ~30 raspis that we can send to people who attend trade shows. Not sure if it is too crazy of an idea, but I thought worth throwing out there.

I'm gonna try to concentrate on the energy-saving/green angle of NXT over the next few weeks, more on that later, I hope.

On the RaspPiSolars.....I'm a big fan of ebereon and davethetrousers work here. Its fooking brilliant, lads.
We definitely need some RPSes at any show/conference we attend. Have you guys got in touch with each other?
And have u got some funding/promises of funding ?
If I was even slightly NXT-rich, i'd throw lots in your direction.

BUT: I don't like the swarming idea very much. As originally proposed, it was 30-50 guys swarming a BTC conference in the name of NXT.
It could work at an event for the general public, but I think that it will only succeed in annoying people at a more techie/professional conference.

We need quality people at the BTC conferences (as Miami showed, I think) who can actually engage with serious crypto-business types, not just a lot of people with no/little in-depth knowledge shouting that NXT is da best.

Carlos, you don't look unfriendly! Frankly I imagined you look more like Gollum.

Why so mad, you could be a nice and sane guy after all, perhaps think about it for a while.

I wish you all the best

Hell, I thought FC was ~15 y.o. taking into account his level of mentality. But that guy in the photo is 30+ y.o. Looks like only a psychoanalist is able to help him. Now it's not even funny...

That pic looks very unhappy.....it's a real possibilty that the FCs do have some actual issues.
We've all seen how he/it/whatever flips between almost sane and obviously intellligent(ish) to complete lunatic idiot.
I'd almost feel sorry for him, if he wasn't so much trouble for everyone.

EDIT:
carlos quote: Venture - Covers ideas and principles of how to make a buck in an increasingly deflationary world.

I am real!! this is so funny.

Who would waste such a great name

CRYPTOKNIGHTT on a sock puppet!!

You guys just dont get it.

You are so out of control

Actually can you list the coins I should stay away from?

That's the list I want to know. Ether and NEX. what else LOL

If u do invest in NEX, make sure u ask the FCs for their corporate info, as they claim to be a Delaware corporation, it would be nice to see some info about their corporate activities.........

And there is a very long history of the FCs investor threads being full of very recently created accounts with almost no activity that somehow find their way to the FC and offer him lots of money for no real reason.
Sock puppets, or are the FCs a new Messiah?

I like to use poetry as a turing test: so throw down an original limerick/haiku/sonnet or whatever and I'll declare u human.
1884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] ***********EMUNIE - CAUTION ADVISED************* on: February 01, 2014, 10:33:33 PM
This makes me to worry. Someone attacks all launched cryptos. We would better unite against common enemy, instead of insulting each other...

For once we agree 100%

But humans have been trying to get along for centuries now, so idealistic wishes of that nature just wont happen, which is very sad!

We don't need to have all humans on the same side, just the guys who are trying to build something genuine vs the assholes who can only criticise and/or rip people off.

TBH; I've got no definite idea which side of the fence eMunie (and Dan etc) fall on, but I got the impression that eMunie is a genuine effort.

I'm a fairly rabid NXT supporter (putting it mildly), we are a direct(ish) competitor to eMunie in the 2nd generation crypto space and we have had more than our fair share of attacks over the last 2 months, ranging from common trolling, FUD, and lies all the way up to DDos attacks on our infrastucture and directed hacking attempts against everything even slightly NXT related.  Not to mention the great sock puppet army......

So I can have some sympathy for eMunie right now. Good luck....

Have u guys got a TL:DR version of the story so far? Too lazy to read full thread.
1885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 01, 2014, 09:00:05 PM
I am trying to run my start.bat file in the command prompt window, but it kept shutting down instantly. So i added 'pause' into the file and I see that it doesn't recognize my path as an internal or external command...but im pretty sure its the right path?  Huh

Not being funny, but have u installed/updated Java?

If u have then:

java -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar start.jar

or

java -jar start.jar

will do the trick

There is sometimes a problem with Java not being recognised by later Win versions, even after installation:

https://forums.bukkit.org/threads/how-to-fix-java-is-not-recognized-as-an-internal-command-or-external-command.139263/

so try the above , reboot and try to start NRS again.

Bounty announcement

1st one who implements a working (during 7 days at least) SMS-to-NXT gateway will get a bounty. Amount of the bounty will be considered by the community.

Deadline: 28th of February, 2014.

This could be very important for adoption of Nxt in the developing world where SmartPhones and/or computers are a rare luxury. This should be very high priority, with an accordingly high bounty.

Great point...for lots of not-so-rich folks, smartphone is the only internet access they can get to on a regular basis.
1888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 01, 2014, 12:35:40 AM
Solar powered NXT node for conferences!
Berlin conference first!  Wink

well, booth for Berlin costs $3.000 (= cca 60.000 Nxt)
conference fund for year 2014 has got: 200 Nxt

We need to rattle a whale a little bit.....I get the feeling from Miami that NXT got some really effective exposure there, and the direct connection to the wider crypto-business community is gonna be invaluable over the long term. I think that we should make conferences one of the first marketing priorities for right now.

Advertising to a wider audience can wait for a month or even 6, when we have an absolutely rock solid client(s) that Joe Public can use and a range of advanced features in addition to the "use as money" feature of every other alt-coin.

So, I say, conferences, Yay!

And I say yay to Ebereons solar RaspPi as well. If we have a booth, we need one of those running on it. Eb came up with a prototype price of €215 per fully set-up unit.
If Eb can commit to making some more, can we give him some cash for them?
Maybe he can start a RaspPiSolar factory......
Ideas: Custom engraved RS enclosure, NXT logo....maybe a "forging in progress" LED  Grin

I'm going to put up a Berlin conference thread on nextcoin.org, maybe we eurotrash can use that as a place to post(or repost) all Euro conference info as we run up to the Berlin event?
And then over to Amsterdam.....

I've asked for a speaker slot or at least panel slots for NXT at Amsterdam, haven't heard back yet.
Who would be willing to deliver a talk or participate on panels for either A'dam or Berlin?

And don't look at me....I'm good at arguing, not so hot on the precise technical details.

I like the more industrial feel of these 2 non-precious metals. And everyone has gold or silver....

What about Palladium? It's heavily used in modern industry and more expensive than Platinum.

and shiny.........i like it, going to search for more.

Yep, in at nr 2 spot...time for some Frictionless fun...

Oh, wait, I'm on his iggy list......EvilDave is sad.
He wants to play, but his friend FC can not hear him......oh ,well.

FC calls it putting me on his ignore list, I call it winning the argument.

Can you please go discuss with FC in his own NEX thread.

It's locked.

Well, could you kindly ask your 'Nxt Posse'  to unlock the thread?

FC can't hear me (me ignored by FC), but I have no bloody idea why his thread is locked, and I want to know why myself...i was having fun there.

NXT - 3D graphics: Update #04

Golden age is here. Grin

I know that new design is suggested, I will look at it too.

All 3d renderings are here:
forums.nxtcrypto.org
nextcoin.org

Nice! Would love to see it with a green logo in the middle for Green campaigns.

Also, just an idea, but how about copper in the inner circle and border, and everything else gold? It would really make the gold logo and gold ring stand out.

I'd definitely like to see a titanium:

or maybe stainless steel version:

I opened a new account for the first two times with 5.10 a few hours ago.  I just upgraded to 5.11 and reopened it just now to try and get the alias after James sent it some NXT.  It is showing zero balance with block 55052 as the last block with a 1 hr plus gap between 55052 and 55051.  Suggestions?

Post 55052 and 55051 blocks data. And pm me with the account number.

PLEASE, can we stop entertaining this worthless troll? All he does is derail the thread over and over and over again.

This thread is just a pub. Let us to have some fun here, plz.

Yeah, troll kicking rules. Pity I can't play anymore......

@The guys who want to get some proper work done: it really is time to open some more manageable threads on the other forums for specific issues to be discussed in detail, such as promotion, conferences, promo material etc.
This looks like a good moment.....I'll be afk for an hour or two, then I'll be wanting to push a bit forward on the above 3 topics.

Later, have fun with the FCs....don't let it/they/thing annoy u, treat it more as a comedy advertisement for NXT.

Did u delete the old blocks.nxt  and transactions.nxt files ? If not, do so (and the backups), restart, wait for the 5.11 to rebuild blockchain from scatch.

Looks like u've forked, old chap, I'm seeing 30 seconds between 55051 and 55052
1898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 31, 2014, 08:13:40 PM
I dont think nxt could get sued. Theres no one to sue? No official body? And all were doin is making lego nxt more viewers

The conye guys got sued.  So they can sue any exchange that holds Nxt.

Theres a big difference between coincidentally choosing the same name as a product in an entirely seperate market (Lego NXT, for the slow thinkers among us...hi, FC!) and choosing to use the parodic image of a legally savvy celebrity.  Guess which one will get u the most trouble ?

Since I appear to be on the FCs ignore list, maybe we could subtly suggest to him that he renames nex to.......PrinceCoin.
1899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 31, 2014, 07:50:51 PM
is it too late to buy nxt for 100x profit ?  Undecided

Not too late for a 100x profit with NEX.

Carlos, how you have never realised that anything you touch turns out to be a fail is beyond me... or maybe you do and the result is your bursting jealousy?

How can you be so delusional to even think that you could copy NXT and make it a success? But that ain't enough for the Friction, let's put the cherry on top: IXCoin exceeding Bitcoin on its way to world domination? You're truly a special one-of-a-kind nutcase. Grin

Said it before:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

and I'll say it again:

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than is accurate. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their ineptitude

The D-K effect explains so much......

And emule gets an answer he cant come back to. Loser him and fc are probs siamese twins or summat.
Nexern definatley said march for an estimated fully working client.
I dont know where emule the homosexual donkey gets his false facts from?

March?  Can we get it earlier?  Is the source code out there?

you dont need him there are two other clients just use them! till the time hé is finished we have moved on to eterum and Emunie and many other.
you sound like a sleazy crypto pimp going around ripping other peoples ideas off/Slating the comunity you are curently attempting to suck the life out of. Jeeze

Yeah, the FCs are starting to sound both really sad and kinda desperate.
I do wonder why his main nex thread has been shut down. Did someone set the mods on him, or is there something else going on?
