1261  Other / Meta / Re: Is having an alt account a crime ? Why red trust for having one ? on: September 04, 2018, 07:07:17 PM
I hadn't even considered the certain campaigns that require at least 1 merit, and look at that, Eroiy is one of them... You've convinced me, even if you weren't intending to, that OP had the intentions to abuse. Sending 1-merit to your alt and then enrolling that alt in a campaign that requires at least 1-merit, and you had not received any merit previously.. This screams abuse and I agree that is significant, even though it was only a single merit. I just wouldn't be willing to say that sending 1-merit to an alt is always abuse or should be treated as such. The evidence for this particular case though, definitely isn't in OPs favor. Seems malicious, and with the specific intent of wiggling into a campaign.

1 merit each to 200 accounts seems exactly the same as what OP did. What makes it more significant?

I wouldn't say exactly the same, since they sent 1 merit each to 1 account and not 1 merit each to 200 accounts. The extra 199 accounts would just solidify that it was done abusively. I can imagine sending some merit between alts during the early days of merit implementation for testing purposes or prior to reading the guidelines/rules. I remember sending some poor random user -500 merit as a test and it worked, that poor fellow required a manual fix from Theymos. Obviously that's different, but sending 1 merit to 1 account could reasonably be used for testing purposes. Though, once you add the Jr. Member requirement to 1 merit, the fact that the user has never received merit besides that and then they send themselves a single merit just before applying for the aforementioned campaign.. It adds up to likely abuse.

Now if you excuse me I'm gonna go register 200 accounts. Please don't rat me out to The Pharmacist.

I thought this was all a ploy for you and The Pharmacist to keep the shitposting cash for yourselves. Carry on.

This thread has taught me one thing: You've gotta know when to realize "I'm not a funny person."

The important thing is that I make myself laugh.

When the nominations close (I believe they have), does the poll begin?
1263  Other / Meta / Re: Is having an alt account a crime ? Why red trust for having one ? on: September 04, 2018, 05:39:41 PM
That's where we're going to disagree; as I said earlier "significant" is highly-debatable and subjective. I would deem sending merit to 200 alt accounts as significant enough to call it abuse, personally. I would also deem sending 50 merits to 4 alt accounts as significant enough to warrant abuse. 5,000,000 Merits would put you at the top of the most merited list for many years to come, which is also significant. Each scenario you describe, I would disagree that they are insignificant. I also see the rank of the accounts to be mostly insignificant when determining how abusive the situation is; although, maybe I am wrong for this criteria.

It is fine to agree with The Pharmacist and stand on a principal. I have no issue with this, and ultimately it is your choice what to do with your trust feedback anyways.

OP is being misleading about their situation though, because suggesting that you were tagged for simply having an alt account is incorrect. You were tagged for abusing the merit system, per the judgement of a DT member that has made their principals on the matter clear. Additionally you were tagged for cheating a signature campaign by the campaign manager, who also happens to be a DT member. You would be better served by contacting Yahoo directly to resolve and discuss the situation regarding the duplicate PMs. As for The Pharmacist, again you would have your best chance at redemption by simply carrying on towards a better path. Everything is negotiable, and I personally believe that The Pharmacist would reconsider their trust down the line once you are a stand-up citizen of the forum.
1264  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 100 satoshi for follow me on Twitter on: September 04, 2018, 05:30:31 PM
I think less than $0.01 for a follow on twitter is honestly not even worth the time it takes to make those couple clicks. If you were to buy fake bots as followers they would cost more than what you are offering these users, which are real people that genuinely use their twitter accounts (presumably). I would either raise the amount, or expect very little turn-out for this "game" of yours.

Would you help me with reputation loan until tomorrow. I need someone to build my reputation. Small one

This is off-topic, and not the place for you to be asking for loans. Reputation loans do not help your reputation, rather they do the opposite and directly negatively effect your reputation. Especially considering your current negative reputation is caused due to begging for loans outside of the proper format. Please stop begging other people for their money and thinking it will help your reputation.
1265  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Raffle] Fassett's Shot Cotton In Stepping Stones 93'x113' on: September 04, 2018, 10:33:41 AM
It still might be fun for you to roll anyways. I like to see if my slot would've won, especially in raffles that I would've joined.
I've been waiting for a raffle on one of your quilts and GP comes through to steal my thunder. I'll be on the lookout for another, hopefully in the near(ish) future.

Probably made that quilters day, thumbs up GP.
1266  Other / Meta / Re: Is having an alt account a crime ? Why red trust for having one ? on: September 04, 2018, 10:12:28 AM
What's the threshold for abuse?

In terms of merit, that's a very tough call, which is why it is understandable for certain users to take a stand on principal rather than an amount. I guess this puts me in a similar camp to Loyce, in that, it depends on the circumstance and action(s). I suppose, for me, the threshold for abuse is something along to the lines of "Has there been significant damage done, progress made or advantage acquired through the proclaimed abuse?" Obviously "significant" can be debated and I haven't figured out a solid way to determine "significant damage". We can consider things like progress towards next rank or monetary gain.
1267  Economy / Goods / Re: I sell 5 Apple itunes (50.-) and 3 Google Play Store (50.-) Codes for 30.- on: September 03, 2018, 06:06:30 PM
What do you mean it is "from myself?" I can't imagine that have simply purchased $400 worth of gift cards with the intention of selling them for $240; that would not make sense. I am only interested if the explanation for how these were acquired is legitimate, otherwise I will save myself the headache of them being revoked in the future. Spending $30 for a headache is way overpriced.

Potentially if you were willing to have a "hold time" where I contact customer support or apply the cards to an account and wait a period of time to verify the validity of the cards.
1268  Other / Meta / Re: Most entertaining person on bitcointalk ? on: September 03, 2018, 05:02:58 PM
What was that users name with all the conspiracy theories and accusations that tried to extort users and become a campaign manager? He was always complaining about the cartel and making up some interesting stories in terms of loose association.. Stand-by..

EDIT: Digaran! That was their name. I'd like to nominate them for the most entertaining person on bitcointalk. They've made me laugh harder than just about anybody on here. The sheer volume of nonsense that came out of that user was impressive. They would follow around everyone for awhile making claims that we were all a single person. Goood times.
1269  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Crypto Quilts / 100% Handmade on: September 03, 2018, 04:40:26 PM
No raffles yet as they've all sold in Auction.

You say that like raffles are a downgrade from auctions. Sad

Can I request a raffle for a quilt, even if it has to be down the line or will we just be waiting until an auction goes stale on one?
1270  Other / Meta / Re: Is having an alt account a crime ? Why red trust for having one ? on: September 03, 2018, 04:34:11 PM
In the screenshot preditor422 is wearing the signature for yahoo's signature, but nikjain422 is not. It would be understandable to have sent this on the wrong account, but I don't understand why/how you managed to send it on both accounts; that seems a bit odd to me. I would suggest you tread more carefully in the future and redemption will surely be possible in due time.

In nikjain422's post history I can't find anything about that campaign, and I don't see either of these accounts on the spreadsheets from the Eroiy campaign. I haven't gotten a chance to see if they both applied for the campaign, though. If it is true that both accounts were not enrolled nor applied, then that would seem excessive. Also, a single merit sent between alts is not something I would personally constitute as abuse; I can understand standing on principal, rather than on the quantity though, if that is the argument.
1271  Other / Meta / Re: 3 connected accounts (1 of them found plagiarism). How about ban all of them? on: September 03, 2018, 03:09:03 PM
I am in the same boat as Loyce, without further evidence linking the accounts I would have to assume that adiebitsler is in fact an innocent user getting caught up in nonsense. You cannot prove a negative, so there either needs to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt connecting the two identities or we cannot assume they are connected.
1272  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BTC hashrate changes on: September 03, 2018, 10:32:50 AM
someone

I think that is where you are driving yourself crazy. You're assuming that it's a someone, rather than a bunch of people. You have to think about the sheer volume of miners, farms and rigs that are set-up around the world. There is almost never a moment where someone is turning off their rig that someone else isn't doing the same and the opposite. It would be impossible to narrow it down to one person or one reason. As previously said, "It's just an estimate based on the block find rate." which has a luck factor to it and therefore cannot be entirely accurate.
1273  Economy / Goods / Re: Trade iPhone 7 32GB Unlocked For VeChain (VET) or ETH on: September 03, 2018, 08:38:34 AM
OP hasn't posted on this thread in days even though they have been active and there has been multiple replies daily to their thread. I doubt that this thread is going to go anywhere further and it would be safe to consider this deal dead in the water.

I'm also confused about the "Unlocked ATT", because it's either one or the other; is it ATT or is it unlocked? I don't want to keep the conversation going, but there was no picture with username/timestamp and there was next to no effort put into creating this thread. This would suggest that the offer is not genuine, at least from a functional perspective.

Account was registered a year ago and just started posting a week ago for a couple days before going silent. None of these are good signs.
1274  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Crypto Quilts / 100% Handmade on: September 03, 2018, 06:45:32 AM
I guess MJ didn't like my friendship quilt offer. That's okay, maybe someday I'll be able to commission a custom quilt to resemble what I'm talking about. Has quilt #4 gone up for sale/auction or is it still in production? I've been doing my best to follow along, but I can't tell if next weeks auction is meant to be for Quilt #4 or the Iota quilt.

Have you done a raffle for any of your quilts yet? I would really be into that, because the buy-in price is outside of what I'd be willing to spend, but a raffle might allow more people to get involved for a chance to get their hands on one of these beauties.
1275  Other / Meta / Re: 3 connected accounts (1 of them found plagiarism). How about ban all of them? on: September 03, 2018, 02:33:21 AM
So what you are saying is that the following is your information?
Code:
Ethereum adress: 0xf87e1f06097be4f5a426394b8bfd57d022d8e80a
Twitter username : @Suryadi_crypto
Telegram username: @adiebitsler
and that neither Idirben or hmarra is an account you have access to? Is that correct?

I am wondering if there is any evidence of hmarra using this address, or Idirben signing this address. Is there any evidence of Idirben receiving payment to this address? I did a quick search personally and didn't come up with anything. I am also terrible at using forum search, though.
Could it just be more plagiarism or do we have something to suggest more?
1276  Economy / Goods / Re: [Feedback] Selling New Cell Phones on: September 03, 2018, 02:26:41 AM
I am actually currently in the market for an Unlocked Android that's reasonably "Modern". Nothing in particular and I'm open to suggestions, but I would personally be interested in buying Unlocked and New Phones from a seller as you describe. So, at least from my point of view there is interest and demand on an individual level. Of course price is going to be a big consideration, and if you are able to provide these phones at below retail then this would be optimal. I can't say I would be interested in overpaying.

I'm often interested in the offers that these newbies put forward, but regularly when I contact them or reply to their threads they go silent and inactive. They don't like negotiation, escrow terms or providing security to their customers. I imagine that it would be different, coming from you or a seller as you describe. I don't buy phones incredibly often, but 2-5 phones per year is generally the rate I currently purchase phones. I normally buy manufacturer refurbished and a few generations old. Hope the feedback helps, and hope to do business in the near future.

If that is the case adiebitsler, then can you help me understand why this person would put your address as the address where they would like to receive payment?

Why ban all three?

Ban-Evasion is against the rules. If you are banned on an account and continue to use the forum on another account, this is precisely the definition of Ban-Evasion.
1278  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BTC hashrate changes on: September 03, 2018, 01:55:25 AM
There are many people with very large farms and there are more factors that we could hope to account for in a single thread, post or explanation that would even touch the tip of the iceberg for why the hashrate is constantly changing. I mean, there could be an earthquake, a flood, a thunderstorm, a power outage, a fire or other natural disaster that would take a big farm offline (or multiple large farms). Equipment needs maintenance, replacement, updating and more often it just simply crashes. The explanations go on and on, but the short answer is that people are joining and leaving the network. Potentially switching algorithms, benchmarking, testing different parameters and effects.
1279  Economy / Goods / Re: I sell 5 Apple itunes (50.-) and 3 Google Play Store (50.-) Codes for 30.- on: September 03, 2018, 01:45:27 AM
Are you saying that you are selling all of these for $30? x5 Apple iTunes ($50) for $250 total, and x3 Google Play Store ($50) for a $150 total.
I'm just trying to understand if you are selling them for $30 each, or $30 total and what guarantees you are offering your buyer? How were these codes acquired? If they were fraudulently acquired then it is entirely possible that they will be revoked, and given your trust rating we cannot give you the benefit of the doubt. Would you be willing to accept escrow with the terms that funds will be released after a waiting period to verify that there was no foul-play?

Preferably, contact will be done through the forum so that there is a verifiable record of our conversation rather than some outside chat-logs.
1280  Other / Meta / Re: How can we stimulate Bitcoin Talk? on: September 03, 2018, 01:25:37 AM
I notice that the only times I have been bored on this forum are the moments where my forum use becomes habituated to some degree. Whether it be checking the same 2 boards, only operating within a handful of threads or refusing to learn new concepts, innovations and information.  I break the slump by checking out a board that I haven't visited in awhile, like the Politics board has been much more palatable since FH became the moderator and merit has been implemented. There are certainly boards, such as economics, bitcoin discussion and a few others that will make you seriously depressed about anything and everything Bitcoin if you spend enough time there. The best way to stimulate the forum at this point would be to separate the chaff from the grain. I don't find it particular hard to find quality discussions, but it's just as likely that the discussion goes over my head; this gives me an opportunity to learn and constantly keeps me interested. Just the other day I learned a bit piece of the technical puzzle and my understanding of Bitcoin expanded, after years of research and interaction I am still learning new things.

There are people here for the wrong reasons and they are flooding the forum with nonsense. This is a double-edged sword in that it boosts the advertising numbers that enable the site to pull in an extra buck, while it dampens the experience of anybody that cares.

This forum is the opposite of boring, because the other forums that I have spent time on are abhorrent. It may seem like the grass is always greener, but I assure you that it is not. There is plenty to do, boundless economic opportunities and some very interesting connections to be made. The problem is we have too many spammers, which are encouraged by bounty earnings through signature campaigns or social media campaigns. We can increase moderation staff, change something that enables these users (signatures enabled, rules, etc.) or an alternative I haven't considered.

It has been getting better in the past several months, though, certainly not worse. We are making progress.
