I wouldn't exactly call it a utopia, because then I definitely wouldn't be able to get my hands on one. I'm already counting my pennies and hoping for a BTC price drop for an easy snag. There are almost certainly dozens of people with multiple coins that wouldn't part with their them. I was being quite facetious with that plan. Watch out, mr. bill is lurking. Please, mr. bill was my father. Call me gator.

Bcash will likely be ~nothing, too. There have been airdrops, which have given >5% of BTC value and even went to ~nothing due to network problems etc.. So if you're not going to peel now, bcash etc. don't add much value. For the seller, seller could just peel and sell airdrops to get at least X amount of BTC. So no point to sell for less than X. Of course peeling and airdrop dumping is extra work and carries risks, too.
It's not likely that the seller or the buyer is going to peel this coin. If you believe that Bcash will likely be nothing to, then this coin is already fetching a decent premium. If peeling value is over paid value, it "makes sense" to peel for instant profit. That ruins the coin, though... Obviously, but as said that is not likely the case. There are more people that would rather bid on it and not peel it than vice versa. Why would someone in their right mind ruin it for 0.0x profit? Cause it makes their other Casascius coins more valuable, and they already have an impressive collection. Buy them all, and start destroying them. Then auction the last 2 in existence. Insane that these coins can sell for below actual value... I have never witnessed such an irrational market.
These guys are just lucky I don't have the spare coin at the moment.

People win all the time because the chance to win is equal to the number of tickets sold. It's not rare that someone wins, it's rare that you win.
Then I misunderstand the Powerball, because I'm talking about matching the numbers randomly pulled. Your chances of matching random numbers would be unaffected by the random numbers that others have chosen. Their "guesses" do not make your guess any more or less likely to be correct. Again, I might not understand how lotteries work I guess, but this is how I understand it. How are the chances equal to the tickets in a lottery of random numbers? More tickets makes it more likely that someone wins, but it wouldn't make your chances vary. When comparing Bitcoin to the Powerball lottery, I think it's safe to say you're more likely to win that lottery without buying a ticket, than finding a collision on a private key.
You're over exaggerating, unless we're operating on the assumption that you can win with a stolen ticket, or something? I do see your point though. Humans are very bad at creating random keystrokes.
Bee Boop. It's easy to confuse a theoretical chance with a real chance.
Apparently, because I do not know the difference. I've thought on this for hours and I cannot figure out the riddle. Help me understand theoretical chance Vs. real chance, genuinely, I am interested. Example: You can randomly generate my phone number, call me, and tell me my creditcard number. Although this sounds far fetched, it's still 1461501637330902918203 times more likely than finding a private key collision.
Show your work for this math problem. What are the odds of me randomly generating your phone number, credit card and catching you at a good time for a phone call? Since I'm illiterate on vocabulary and semantics, collision = randomly generating a previously randomly generated Private Key, right? That's why it's very important to generate your private keys at random. If your random isn't random, someone else can reproduce it.
Humans are almost as bad at programming random number generators as they are typing random numbers.

You still haven't posted any pictures of your rigs. I doubt anybody will be interested in paying $400+ for shipping. There are much better ways of acquiring mining gear than buying them used, from a user without proof and paying over half of the cost of the miners in shipping.

You're claiming that it is obvious the account has changed hands, yet your only evidence is that they've recently changed their e-mail. That is not an indication that the account has changed hands on it's own. Has their posting behaviors changed since their email has changed? Are they using any new addresses, or have they changed their tune? What is suggesting to you that the account has changed hands other than the e-mail being changed? Many users change their email all of the time, how is this proof of anything except that they changed their email?

At $22 each for a single, not too bad of a deal.. plus the selection of cryptos is nice Only $21 if you grab 20 of them. Do you have any pictures or know where I can find some of them in their "original mint tubes"? I'm really liking how close they are to spot price, and the idea of having a sealed tube of them has me very interested. You're making my search incredibly easy, so with these out in the world I imagine there will be some individuals willing to part with their pieces at spot as well. I have 1 Keep Calm And Slave on Freedom girl coin Small dot above the chrown. Maybe it can be removed - have not tried. I can send it for ticket to some draw or airdrop coin.
I have absolutely no idea what that is. Are you able to send me some more information or potentially a picture? Might be interested, but what do you mean by a ticket to a draw or airdrop coin?

Are you able to provide pictures of the units with your username and date to prove that you have these in-hand? I might be interested in purchasing all 3-miners, but I'm not so sure you will be pleased with the offer. What is the lowest you would be willing to accept for these? Especially considering shipping and escrow charges on going to be on my behalf, I am looking for a solid deal. If you don't have the time to break them down into separate shipments, nor do you have time to mine with them, then it would seem that you should accept an extraordinary bundle price.
Let me know what is the lowest price that will make you box all of them up. Just to be clear, you are sending 3 PSUs as well and none of these units are defective, is that right? I could take these off your hands, but I'm not interested in a long-term ROI or overpaying for a few miners.

I'm not in any rush, but I figure if there is anybody out there willing to part with something that fits the criteria then they will have an easy offer waiting here for them. I haven't been attempting to acquire collectibles for nearly as long as I should have been; I remember considering grabbing some collectibles years ago that would've been able to buy me quite the vacation these days. Now I'm just slowly trying to build a collection, even if it is going to be a challenge, that doesn't break the bank or make me feel extorted.
I appreciate the good luck, we'll see if anything comes of it.

I'm looking to buy Gold and Silver (preferably at or below spot price). If you have any cryptocurrency collectibles that are .999 silver or gold, please let me know what you have either below or in a PM. I'll probably want to see pictures, unless it is something I can easily reference online. I will be using escrow, unless you are somebody extremely reputable and have a history doing this sort of thing. I'm not looking to go overboard, but something like a 1OZ Gold coin/bar is probably the most gold I'd be interested in buying at the moment. I could grab probably 50OZ of silver without feeling guilty about it, but will certainly be interested in more in the future if everything goes well. Liquidate those items that are just taking up space, make some room for your nice new coins.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto holds 980,000 Bitcoins.. does anyone know their addresses?

Those Bitcoins are a "Security Bounty", at least in my mind. They are an incentive to target weaknesses in the protocol and will certainly cause enough panic to get those holes patched. I doubt Satoshi will ever come back and grab those old addresses. It will almost certainly be an attacker; it will certainly be a historical event in terms of security and fear within the community. Might just be a conspiracy theory of mine, but it's a fun story if it plays out the way it is in my head.

I'm having an existential crisis right now. Maybe it's because I have a poor understanding of math, but the chances of winning the Powerball lottery are something like 1 in 300 million and it happens all of the time. Statistical improbability does not equal impossibility, in fact it's tangibly the opposite. I could type random keys on my keyboard and potentially end up with an old Satoshi address at my disposal. The chances that someone pops a Private Key increases each time more people are attempting to do so, and increases exponentially when any of these attackers is using a method more effective than simple random generation or brute-force. Sophisticated hacks have a better chance than these figures would suggest.

Perhaps another idea is for some sort of list of deleted posts at the bottom of self moderated threads so that if people want to read what has been deleted, they have the option.
My only qualm with this suggestion is that it still limits the visibility of any evidence or accusations that this suggestion was originally meant to protect the visibility of. I really like the idea, for general-purposes, but in the context of "the lazy newbie that falls for these things" it would be rare that they read through the "deleted posts" section of a thread.

Nobody is using my service yet.
Do you think that 6-pages of discussion and a month of operation without a single client is indicative of a successful service? Any service that has followed this pattern in the past will tell you that it is time to close up shop, digaran.

Might as well have a copy of my own merit history for my "records", and give you another test-case to work with. I was going to give you a merit for making this thread/"service", but then I realized that I do not have any; It's the thought that counts though, eh?
EDIT: I did have 1 merit left! Nice.
