1601  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Distribution Slowing? on: June 22, 2018, 01:14:19 PM
This is the result so far

Those numbers are forum-wide? Taking all users into account, or is this a particular testing group? Those numbers are suggesting to me that merit is slowing, but the rate at which it is slowing is also slowing; this tells me that we're approaching some sort of equilibrium, and we are most likely going to continue to drop for months to come. If a surge of merit sources are implemented, then maybe this would "combat" the decrease in merit distribution. Again, I'm not sure what pace we are attempting to achieve, and this is originally one of the things I was aiming to get a better understanding on.

I can't really complain though, it seems to have a positive effect on the community. My biggest concern is the restrictive nature this might impose on someone planning on becoming a serious member of the community down the road, but I suppose it's a work in progress.

I keep wondering if newbies will ever get some merits for upgrade. i see a lot of old account with activities of over 200 without a single merit while some accounts with 10 activities and 10 merits.

All you do is post in spam mega-threads with one-liners that contribute nothing to the conversation. More often than not your posts are deleted and removed by moderators. Newbies will not be receiving merit if they have posting habits such as yours, maybe a big part of the merit distribution dropping is the removal of abusers and users that are meriting newbie one-liners.

Merits are working as intended, so don't think about merits and keep contributing to the community and someday you will see that merits are flooding in your account.

How low was the rate of merit distribution intended to drop? I wasn't privy to this public announcement. A flood is less likely each day, it would seem.
1602  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Distribution Slowing? on: June 22, 2018, 01:05:36 PM
Merit used to be new! and exciting!  Now it is common place.

Not as common place as would seem necessary for it to continue as a "viable" implementation. Ranking up is still meant to be attainable, isn't it?

Can't expect merit sources to continue with their enthusiasm indefinitely..

They got me all infatuated during the honeymoon phase, and now I get to see the real person. Tsk Tsk.

Merit distribution will still happen, but it is expected to slow down.  The list of sources should be updated regularly, but I don't think Theymos has the time.

This is mostly what I'm wondering. I expected it to slow down, but it would seem that now it is overcompensating for the fervor that came with it originally. I'm wondering if now we are expecting it to pick back up again, or if this trend is likely to continue until merit is at a halt.

Delegation of authority is something he needs to prioritize.  This forum is now a lucrative business, and should have appropriate resources, like any other business.  Smiley

Easy boy! You'll get your piece of the pie when theymos believes you're ready.  Wink Realistically though, I do agree that some delegation would do the forum some good. It's felt like forum resources are always strained, and there is seemingly no reason for that to be the case (outside of security concerns?).
1603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Exchanging BTC > ETH & ETH > BTC on: June 22, 2018, 12:55:44 PM
You clearly don't understand the purpose of cryptocurrency or what is going to move it forward. If you believe that centralization is the key to your security, then there is no reason for you to be using Bitcoin. If you would rather go to an exchange, then do that, and do not waste your time posting in my thread. When I head to the marketplace on the forum, I don't just pop into random threads saying "Hey, I'm not going to buy this", because this is unproductive and unhelpful.

I would be perfectly happy to use an escrow, and in this regard there are people to be held accountable and security for both parties. This is for the users that realize centralized exchanges get hacked and lose all of their BTC or ETH more often than an escrow goes south around here. You need to use to correct words when you are typing, because it is near impossible to read your posts.
1604  Other / Meta / Merit Distribution Slowing? on: June 22, 2018, 12:43:34 PM
I haven't been doing any crazy investigation, or even looked at many numbers, but it would seem to me that the rate of merit distribution is slowing down. I might be incorrect, and it might just be going to places that are unaccounted for, by my lazy eyes, but it seems like it is slowing down noticeably. I am wondering if this is the intended pace, and if I am wrong about the pace changing, any input would be appreciated. I'm not particularly concerned about receiving merit, but it seems strange that the "Top-Merited Users" list remains stagnate when the users on the list are certainly not receiving merit at their original pace.

Help me understand the state of the merit system, in this regard.
1605  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [DAILY FREE RAFFLE]JUST BECAUSE I AM STILL IN A GOOD MOOD 46.0 PURE SILVER COIN on: June 22, 2018, 12:16:26 PM
Oh! I actually was in time for this one, let me get

e - billgator

Thank you very much! Looking forward to winning some silver. Wink

Do you create the thread in Games and rounds now, or do they still move them each day?  Grin
1606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Exchanging BTC > ETH & ETH > BTC on: June 22, 2018, 06:39:44 AM
What does any of that mean?

You leave a question mark after saying your name is Maxim, are you asking me if your name is Maxim? How am I supposed to know?

I'm not interested in your strange project, that holds no significance. That has nothing to do with currency exchange, or what I'm offering in the thread. You're just promoting your terrible project.

I really would like for people to not come into my thread an advertise any website or exchange they can think of that offers something similar. We understand that there are many ways for users to exchange their coins, but I am simply offering an alternative for users that do not feel they have been sufficiently serviced by their current options. I've received many PMs  from users wishing to keep things anonymous, private, secure, etc.

There has been at least half a dozen people recommending different services, so at this point there need not be anymore input in that area. If you're interested in a 1:1 exchange at ether.price rates then hit me up today only. Today I'll be doing 0% fee, 1:1 exchanges until I've gotten rid of my 1 ETH or until I've gotten rid of .1 BTC. Got rid of the 1 ETH Wink
1607  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Blind Raffle] Four (4) 1oz .999 Silver Rounds. Who is feeling lucky? on: June 22, 2018, 01:19:40 AM
I'll bite, give me "4", "7", "b" and "d", please! That's assuming you're still offering that 4 tickets for the price of 3.

Honestly, you broke my heart by closing down the raffleception, but now this should fill up faster. That was going to be my first run at a raffleception, Not sure I'll recover from the trauma. If, for whatever reason this isn't filling up towards the end of your 72 hours mark, maybe you should remove the ticket limit per person for 24-hours. I have a feeling it'll fill up if you do that.
1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prone to hacking: Should all exchanges be decentralized? on: June 21, 2018, 11:29:24 PM
Decentralization is one of the main foundational principals of Bitcoin. It would seem imperative that any company, project or specifically exchange that plans to survive long-term would need to adopt a decentralized game-plan. I can't see any way around decentralization and being able to provide equally as much security. There is a reason why Bitcoin has survived so many large "hacks"; they were against individuals, exchanges and addresses being centralized in one way or another. If Bitcoin were centralized, a single hack would have killed it years ago, any exchange needs to acknowledge and adapt to this idea.

They get touchy about being able to control, manipulate, move and invest your funds as has been done traditionally in the financial sector. It's a power-play that is falling out of style.
1609  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: June 21, 2018, 11:23:43 PM
I just took a peek through your recent merit history, and it seems like a majority of your (recent) merit has been sent to legendaries, reputable hero members and the more "famous" lower ranking members. While this isn't a bad thing, it might be something that will count against you when being considered as a merit-source. This is just my own thoughts, but if I was looking for new merit-sources, it would be people that are distributing merit in a unique and useful way, rather than piling onto the same legendaries and the lower members that are already on path to ranking up. You know, a "find a couple diamonds in the rough" mentality might go a long way in the regard.

I requested your full merit history in Loyce's thread, so maybe we'll have something redeeming going back a little further.  Kiss
1610  Other / Meta / Re: Full merit transaction history for any user on: June 21, 2018, 11:21:19 PM
Since our pal pugman is applying to be a merit-source, it would be appropriate that we put their merit history on public display for scrutiny of anybody and everybody interested. I'm hoping to find that a heap of their merit has went to those struggling to receive any, or rank up that are deserving and maybe a little more under the radar.

BitcoinTalkUserID : 325061

EDIT: Didn't read your above post, let me see if that works for me.

Nice, that does seem to work perfectly, very impressive Loyce! If it doesn't take that much storage or resources, it makes me wonder why theymos isn't doing that "officially".
1611  Other / Meta / Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search on: June 21, 2018, 11:17:54 PM
If I could leave you another tip, I might suggest that you do not need to quote the entire post,

You can either just reply, or simply quote the section of the post that you are directly replying to. Also, this thread has had over 3-months since it has last been bumped. I'm going to assume that you search function lead you to this thread, so you couldn't have been having too much trouble  Wink. Normally, people dislike posts that are "This helped me" kind of posts, because there are endless newbies spamming similar posts for malicious reasons; it hits a nerve around here. I would suggest shooting OP a PM, unless you have more to add to the discussion. A friendly "thank you, this helped" PM is much more pleasing than a "Thank you" post-reply, if that makes sense.

I'm glad I was able to pull it off without bothering you for another escrow/favor. I know you don't provide escrow anymore, and I appreciate you doing that last favor for me. Shoutout to player514 for not pulling any funny business, and being extremely easy to work with. They're a cool person, would definitely recommend working with them in the future. If anybody wants to be notified when my next raffle pops up, just let me know and I'll keep in mind to notify you.

player514, feel free to confirm that you've received it in this thread I imagine that your feedback on my profile will be sufficient. Tongue
1613  Other / Meta / Re: Application for a merit source on: June 21, 2018, 11:08:33 PM
Now that Loyce has been accepted (I think?) as a merit source it would seem that the competition has loosened up a little bit. I'm not sure how badly merit sources are needed presently, in the boards that you frequent, but you probably have a better chance now that Loyce isn't dwarfing the rest of the applicants. Good luck pugman, I think you'd do a fine job as a merit source; I still feel weird about the idea of applying personally, but you got my support regardless.
1614  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [RAFFLE] MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti GAMING 6G [FULL] Block # 527163 on: June 21, 2018, 11:02:34 PM
Just wanted to post the outcome of this and lock the thread up, since everything has been finalized. Let the record reflect that player514 has received the card and confirms that everything is working as intended. Thanks for participating everyone, see you in the next raffle. Might be raffling off a new iPhone 6S, or a laptop that I'm working on fixing up; stay tuned.
1615  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Gold & Silver on: June 21, 2018, 10:29:47 PM
I had to coins. Sold the perfect one without a dot. Picture here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4368019.msg38997814#msg38997814

I don't know enough about those coins to be that interested, unless you're giving me spot price. Cheesy

Thank you MJ for the link and the pictures, that is a really solid option to have in my back pocket. Probably will order at least a tubes-worth.

This might be a tough find for you but, good luck to you.

Some of the only things worth doing are those that are challenging. Thank you for the luck; I am sure I will thoroughly enjoy my quest.

For now, I've got my fill. Bitcoin price is low, and I've got a flood of PMs, deals in progress and all sorts of things in the works. I'm going to lock the thread for now, but stay tuned, I'll re-open once it's time for more Gold & Silver purchasing!

Taking offers for Silver, not really looking for Gold right now.
1616  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Silver/Gold .999 Bullion & coins on: June 21, 2018, 10:24:16 PM
Looks like I was just a little bit too late to hop on this silver train. I've gotta stop sleeping on the good deals! Nice grab Tecshare, I was pretty interested in that 2 OZ Silver Coin.
1617  Other / Archival / Re: Cigarettes on: June 21, 2018, 08:57:49 PM
You didn't mention where you are shipping from or if shipping is included in the price. I would be interested in grabbing a "rim" of Marlboro Red and Camel Blue as a test. These are really good prices, and if you're legitimate I wouldn't mind having some cheap cigarettes. Would you accept escrow or ship first so that my funds are not at risk until I receive the rim?
1618  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Raffleception] Win tickets to the four (4) 1oz .999 silver rounds. on: June 21, 2018, 04:39:39 AM
It's funny that Hhampuz' template is catching on a bit, even I have been using their raffle templates and considering doing a raffleception of my own. I have sent you a PM about purchasing some tickets, a proposal to kick start this, since the other tickets are selling pretty quickly. Been really interested in silver lately, so after you answer my proposal and question about ticket-limits in the main thread, I might just be able to score some more.

Just paid for my ticket, going to be PMing you the TXID now. Good luck to everyone, but mostly myself. Wink
1620  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Blind Raffle] Four (4) 1oz .999 Silver Rounds. Who is feeling lucky? on: June 21, 2018, 04:22:56 AM
I'm not normally one for Raffleception, because a chance at a chance is something that hurts my soul to pay for. Though, I do enjoy a good mystery raffle, and I've never truly given a raffleception the fair shake it deserves. I was going to grab the four-for-three deal here, but now I have to ask, does the ticket limit include raffleception tickets that have been won or are those independent from the ticket limit? I would assume they are separate, since you allow 1 person to purchase all raffleception tickets, and there are 5-tickets to be won in that thread.
