spent whole day trying to get rx480 run in win10.
tried 5 times with no luck.

finally download wqhl latest driver and whoosh..
it works.

now its time to try the bomb.

how can I know what catalyst driver version is running/use?
I open the driver properties.
but there is no information about the driver I installed.
I installed 15.12 and 16.9.1
I just found the date, not the version.

Follow these steps


1: (while everything is at stock, so stock rom, stock driver) i execute this command first (as admin)

bcdedit /set nointegritychecks on

2: I reboot to safe mode(Hold Shift while clicking reboot) and i replace that atikmdag.sys file.

3: I reboot back into windows with that replaced atikmdag file. Windows should load perfectly, same for your drivers.

4: I flash my rom (command line atiflash, also as admin)

5: I reboot with signature checks disabled (also holding left shift while hitting the reboot button), you can do this in the next screen after you clicked reboot while holding left shift. You'll get a menu and you just do this. (same applies for Safe mode)

Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click Restart

6: Everything should look perfectly fine when rebooted (i do not get the "test mode" message in the lower right corner. It just works  )

Word of caution when doing all of this.

When I first loaded my brand new xfx 480s into my PC, GPU-Z said BOTH card had a 97% ASIC quality value.

I have NEVER been able to get the flashing ROM to work on my win 7, countless flashes and reflashes and redoing drivers etc etc. Lots of crashes and resetting wattman and recovering drivers etc.

Low and behold, my ASIC quality on both cards is now 76%... So not saying this had anything to do with it.... but 97% ASIC brand new to 76% today with dicking with all this shit.

you can ceck the radeon system, at radeon system setting you will find more information about your driver and device.
are you using wattman to overclock your gpu ?

After getting unstable work with flashed card I flashed it back to original BIOS

The card is disappeared after rebooting

I still can see it in atiflash and I actually flashed it again with LowEnergy.rom

But - why I cannot flash it to original rom?

I am using the most current driver from AMD Website. I am aware that custom cards needs another one, I already created a few and wanted to test them now.
But since atiwinflash (and even atiflash) do not detect the GPUs I can not test it

Its because you are using a ROM designed for 8 GB cards on a 4 GB card.

If you look at the "SpeicherGrose" - Memory - it is 4096 MB not the 8000ish for the 8 GB card.

Please note that I did not change anything with the GPU (it still has original BIOS). My problem is, that I can not even start ATIflash, because it claims no GPU is detected.

According to everything I've read, ASIC quality cannot change.  GPU-Z does not calculate it, it reads it.  The ASIC quality is assigned at the factory.  Don't take my word for it, I don't know shit:
