What kind of 24 Hour Earnings are you guys getting on BTCGuild?  Mining calculators say I should be getting ~1.3 btc/day with my 2 Jupiters, ~1Th.  BTCGuild is posting around 1.18.  What's the deal with that?  Using PPLNS.

Recent bad luck... seems to be network wide the past 24 hours or so.

Yup, slush was awful yesterday and Eligus worse today. Slush seems much better now though. Annoying after all this waiting and messing about lol

I got a good Jupiter from 23XX which arrived with 0.96 on and hashed out of the box at 535 GH/s (according to BTC guild, not the KNC gui)

I read all the reports on here about 0.98 increasing power consumption (slight overclock) so i decided to give it a try.

After the Jup got going again (it takes 60mins+ to 'settle in') i was hashing at a higher speed on the device - around 575 GH/s but according to the pool i have dropped down to 500 Gh/s

I gave it a few more hours but no improvement.

I downgraded back to 0.96, with a hell of a lot of reboots and reset factory settings, but i couldnt get it back into its sweet spot - i was bouncing around 375-425 GH/s after three hours

So now i have gone back up to 0.98 and i am getting 510GH/s at the pool after an hour. Hope it creeps back up to where it was before or higher.

I should have stayed with 0.96 preloaded and optimised at the factory. Of course all these boxes are different so your millage may vary. proceed with caution and perhaps ask yourself "does the risk of upgrading the firmware and potentially having problems - does it outweigh the potential gains in GH/s?"

EDIT: it crept up to 565 GH/s on 0.98 and seems to be very stable there.

I'm a happy bunny Smiley

I'm glad you guys are having good luck with the new firmware, but the increased power consumption is kind of a pain, hardly worth the 2% extra hashrate I got out of it Tongue

My guess is that the cost in electricity for the new firmware is less then the money you'll make from it Tongue

Hmmm.... at least for me (after >12h) it looks like the .98 firmware gives me:

+20W (@230V)
+11Gh/s
(correct avg. from cgminer - yes, I did use the new cgminer manually installed on 0.97)
less HW errors (included in the better performance)
higher temperatures (+3C but with my cooling still less than 40C)

This earns me 0.0139BTC per day (at high $0.35 European power costs).
That's better than a 7G BFL Jalapeno.

Will work for BTC and DEM (eMark)   No joke!   Network, WiFi, IPv6

@Phoenix

It's a bit overdue but thanks for the EUREKA moment.  I always noticed my miners dropping over night but never could figure out why.  I spent a lot of brain power trying to get the temps down, never even dreamed of going the other way.  After reading your post i reverted back to closed case, window closed and set it to run for 12 hours.  All 3 jupiters improved 20-40 Gh/s.  I've repeated this enough times to believe it's not a coincidence.  For anyone receiving new miners, it's definitely worth a try to run them in the 60s.

hmmm....in regards to slush..I'm supposedly (when I left home at work) running 555gh on .95 from my ssh window  ...but on slush ...here at work I'm seeing slush at 536.8 consistent..I'm still running .95 so I'm sure some of that diff is just some slop in .95 from what I can tell from the people with upgrades and such..I think I read that .95 may show gh a bit high how much not sure?

so is this a normal variance between a pool (admittedly I'm running .95 so my hash may show a bit higher then it actually is) and what miner says?

I would like to upgrade to .98 ....but from what I see on here ....555gh from the miner/ssh page....5.6% error (using correct formula) adn a 7690wu? (if I remember right)....on .95....I probably should just leave it alone ....bout as good as I can get....

sorry if you've heard this song from me before...unless I'm missing something like .95 is way too high and I'm really probably getting 535gh or some such and/or there should not be that big a gap (even with diff on gh of running .95) and what i'm getting on slush?

anyway I appreciate your input/comments (we who sit on our hands from .95 stock systems salute you!.....time to repaint yellow stripe down back!)

Tried out 0.98 a few hours. I had a decrease of performance 281GH/s to 260GH/s.
Back to 0.97.

It seems that miners that are working well with previous firmware don't work well with 0.98.
And miners that are not working with previous firmware work well with 0.98.

(i'm always a*ss backwards from everyone else and last to get the memo.so it .figures)

by the by got an email that my 1 item I did keep and not upgrade to the monarchs (I know I know monarchs are pipe dream but considering I only had jallys and a 30g.... well punted....with bfl's refund policy and them being bricks and all)...anyway....I ordered it in April BEFORE KNC EXISTED AS A COMPANY and it will arrive 2 weeks later then my Jupiter did....

see how now  my above comment on everything backwards in my life makes sense don't it?

Variance. Just because a calculator says you should be getting say 2 bitcoins a day (in theory), doesn't mean you will be able to actually earn 2 bitcoins a day in reality. It all depends on luck of the pool, your hashing speed (stable, unstable, stale, dupes), size of the pool, number of miners in the pool, fees, payment type.... a whole lot of other factors.

Tongue
I'm back up to 1.3/day now.  cool

So I applied .98 about an hour ago. Took my machine a little to warm up to it, but now my Mercury is hashing just over 100 at 110, highest of 126. Time to see if it stays in this range. Seems to jump up and down quite a bit, I'm guessing this is normal? How stable are these machines suppose to be?

This whole afternoon before applying the patch, it was going up and down from 80g to 100g every two hours it seemed. Seemed to peak, then drop, peak, then drop slowly over that time period, odd.

Comments?

Extremely happy with 0.98 on all 3 Jupiters, no variance between them at all and the pool rate has rocketed up to same as CGminer.

Tried out 0.98 a few hours. I had a decrease of performance 281GH/s to 260GH/s.
Back to 0.97.

It seems that miners that are working well with previous firmware don't work well with 0.98.
And miners that are not working with previous firmware work well with 0.98.

Same experience here, my very best jupiter was averaging about 540GH/s on factory installed 0.95
On upgrade to 0.98 the hashrate dropped by over 100GH/s and WU by 2000
I then ran enablecores and restarted

Apologies if it's been asked before. But any method to fix the error below? Everything seems to be running fine but I don't see stats.

CGMiner Status   Running (Connect to CGMiner API failed)

On the mining page in the webui of your miner, make sure the 'CGMiner API Enabled' checkbox is checked.
