What could be better than getting up @ 3am to see how much you made during the night?
I love this shizzle!
Gox @ 227, XBT @ 212....
Just reached 50% return, day 19
But according to Croppo, they aren't worth a dime.....
I better just give up then....
Hahahahahaha

Congrats Phoenix! I am at USD break even in one more day!  I've made 32 BTC with my jup.  One more month(ish) to break even in BTC terms using the exponential difficulty estimates I have been using.

Edit - Looks like I am USD break even today based on coinbase price.
chrono, when did you receive your miner?

if i've helped you, donations welcome: 1BwGnrqSjbfJ39mTNrvb257eUSuUP7Pfxh

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

hmm..I'm at 14 btc set my miner up on oct 18th 8pm cst

I'm on slush? am I missing something like setting up difficulty different or some such hook I don't know about....using stratum..thought that did the difficulty on the fly....maybe i'm just plain noob wrong?

so anyway that comes out for me at about 3K so far of with Jupiter cost of 7130.10 comes out to 42% paid for I guess

anyway running around 560 but on .95 and around 6% error assuming knc stats are correct that far back

anyhoo better then I should expect with the increase in difficulty

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

Not to poke a lion... but I personally Mine for fun, in hopes of a profit... Smiley

That is great, I think this is quite reasonable expectation.

er I have to admit when BFL said it was gonna ship on time it was for "PROFIT" when the stuff just basically never arrived..(ie did the force convert to monarch out of desperation...brick now or brick later prob don't matter $$ gone)

well..because KNC took cc order with PayPal (which dummy that I am I did not do with bfl) I took a chance...and they came thru ..or at least close enough for my NEW in DENIAL viewpoint

er ..its just a  HOBBY

(denial...just another way to get thru the day)

Searing

OK, there is no problem to look for alternative ways for income and being duped  by a business like BFL. It happens with everyone at some point in life. There is nothing wrong with "mine" for profit or for fun.

What is wrong is people like feedbackloop trying to advocate that the Bitcoin network is some sort of "promising sound currency" which should not be trade for "exponentially-printed-to-oblivion/give-inflation-to-bankers-enslave-everyone-else/no-control-over-your-money corrupt currency". This kind of people seen to ignore the fact that Bitcoin is not a currency and never was mean to be. It is just a network protocol which allows people to transfer monetary value without the need of a central authority to validate the transactions. It is not like dollar notes or gold coins which can be kept by a collector, it is just some digits heavily encrypted. If it is not used to send or receive monetary value, have no value whatsoever.
Bitcoin is called cryptocurrency for a reason... it IS currency, digital or not.
its intrinsic value fluctuates with demand, like any other currency or commodity.

Where did I said that BTC did not worth a dime?

he meant the miner, dingus.

Where did I said that people efforts to obtain profit from a Bitcoin "miner" did not worth the investment?

I am start to realize there is a cognitive dissonance going on here...

Okay... update...

After two hours of messing about... I got the board that needs to be hot at a stable 73c, but it now shows 'FAULT' on one of the VRMs.
Even with the fault, the miner is showing 260GH/s average on CGMINER and 244GH/s on the pools side, both of which are slowly climbing. My 5s averages at around 271gh/s - 302gh/s.
I'm much happier with the speed now, but worried about that 'FAULT' on one of the VRMs.

What do you guys think?

Also, my Device Rejected rate and Pool Rejected rate has shot up from around 0.27% to now over 5%.

EDIT: Thanks Searing for the suggestion, but that is the first thing I did when I got my Miner. Keeping the temp cool isn't my problem. My problem was to actually heat it up. My miner normally ran at around 45c on one board, ad 48c on the other board. Now I have them at 65.5c on one board, and 73.5c on the other board. Never seen it run better then now. Just hoping to keep that stable.

Same here with "Fault 4" with a VRM. Tha asic went very well up to 0 Cores OFF and about 75°C....but since 3 days...this vrm pulls more and more amps as much more i have more temps. now the asic can run only about 65 °C because the vrm at max 50.2 AMP...over that temps tha VRM pushes more and it get the message in red "fault 4"

P.S. i had VRMS in a Saturn that worked with 58,8 AMPS very well.

What does the "Fault 4" state exactly mean?

Hi,

Fault 4 means "overtemperature".

Try adding some small RAM heatsinks on the top of the DC/DCs.

Also check the front fans and ambiant temperature.

PS: This fault code activates when then DC/DC converter exceeds 130'C. It will shut down at 145'C. It is not OK to continue running your miner that hot !

73'C for the board temperature is a lot too. You are stressing the components.

uski

Hi Uski,

i have allready heatsinks on it since the first mining day. But i don't belive that there are 130°C at this VRM. I think it is faulty.

Do anyone know how to use an other of the 4 unsed VRMS instead? i have boards with 8 vrms but as we know only 4 are used of them.

Just reached 50% return, day 19

And with tomorrow's 40% difficulty increase, the next 50% is going to take more than 47 days assuming no more difficulty increases (which isn't realistic). Your break even point is many months from now, if ever.

Bitcoin is called cryptocurrency for a reason... it IS currency, digital or not.

Just because people use misnomers like "miner" or "cyrptocurrency" it NOT means it work like a real miner or a real currency. BTC is not used by the primary or secondary economic sector of any country. BTC do not have intrinsic value and cannot exist outside the bounds of the Internet. The value of each BTC arise from the fact that people is transferring monetary value from one point to another. If BTC are not used to transfer fiat money from here to there, it will serve to NOTHING and thus it will have NO VALUE whatsoever.

Now, this is completely different to say that a "miner" do not worth a dime. Care to explain what the value of a "miner" has anything to do with the fact that BTC is not a currency?

Please don't get offended... Discussion is all. I did mean BTC BTW

I am not offended and you are entitled to disagree with my opinion. I am just surprised with the confusion that is going on about what exactly Bitcoin and BTC means for some people here.

Nice! Bitminter by any chance? A high entry like that so early in their race would be funny. Also good chance of bonus jupiter for you  Cool (personally not there).
