OT: an Altcoin rant...

Some poop, called Filecoin, is trading (FIL, first day) at $70, which with 2bil max coins means a projected market cap of 140bil.
Color me skeptical. Decentralized storage? Who gives a flying f-k?
Wall street went heavily 'inside" on that ICO (only accredited investors were allowed to participate, which is against the overall psyche of the "crypto" space anyway), various Winkelevi, Consensus, etc etc.

I will wait until it trades on Coinbase, then maybe even short it (if I can find where).
same story as COMP, they jerk it up, then 60-80% decline, me thinks
the market cap that is showing on coinmarketcap is BS as there were 200mil tokens released even at ICO, not to mention 2bil total.

Bitcoin is largely unaffected, but considering that some s-t got 14-140bil valuation for "nothing" make me sad for the market.
A scam for now.

Outside of them having any merit at all (which I highly doubt), this story is the same story as all the IPOs: There is no immaculate conception. The wealthy insiders get millions of units first at pennies per share, while the average Joe public has to wait to participate after the price has 10,000X skyrocketed pre-launch.

If you buy these shitcoins at all, even just to trade, you are only making the rich even richer.

Don't. do. it.

Schnorr and Taproot Upgrade Proposal Merged Into Bitcoin Core.

Quote
The implementation of the Schnorr/Taproot consensus rules has been merged into Bitcoin Core. However, the upgrade's activation method has yet to be determined.

The pull request was originally created by Bitcoin Core contributor Pieter Wuille on September 13th and has gone through extensive review and testing over the past month. Over 150 developers also participated in a 7-week review club for the proposal which was led by Anthony Towns back in November of 2019.

This upgrade has been highly anticipated due to its potential to increase Bitcoin’s smart contract capabilities while simultaneously benefiting its transactional privacy.

God save us from any upgrade's activation method debate! Grin I am not ready for a segwit, no2x, big block kind of drama now. We have other things to do.  Wink

Like what?

Sit around twittling our thumbs?

There are only two options: better one  for you is simply you are an idiot.

Worst - you are just paid shill.

DaRude is right though... sort of.

I also work for a hospital system.  Part of my job is specifically analyzing admission data, and for the last several months I have been particularly involved with analyzing the COVID admissions.

FACT: It is killing people
FACT: It is extraordinarily contagious
FACT: We now know that it has a very high survival rate in almost all populations.

The trick with Covid is it is so contagious that just about all of us are going to get it.  And that means that <1% who it kills?  There are a lot of them.

Couldn't you say exactly the same about any specific flu virus from past? [By {past} I mean anything happened before 2010 in let say 30 years scope]

Any RELIABLE data about it?  Grin

...

Mate, we all know it's not pandemia  but just clear politics. Left or Right / Biden or Trump...  Nobody (clever than monkey/donkey) buys this shit. Smiley

It appears to be 2x-3x the death rate of the h1n1 in 2009-2010

It appears to be  1/140 to 1/350 the death rate of the  spanish flu of  2018-2019

To think it is politics  Biden Vs Trump simply is to  ignore the entire world.

My gut is when it finishes in April- June 2021 it will have killed about 2 million world wide and 350,000 in the USA.

Do I think the USA did well with it under Trump no. Do I think Hillary Clinton would have done better nope.

Excited to be supporting more Bitcoin protocol development. This is a great start, but hopefully we can expand this program over time.

Thank you to @PeterMcCormack for the push on his podcast to get this over the line 🙏

Michael Saylor mentioned in his recent long podcast with Peter that he is going to fund a yet to be determined Bitcoin developer as well and will likely extend over time.

Fun fact: The current block subsidy (6.25 btc) is the same number as the percentage of total coins (6.25%) that will be issued over the course of this current emission era. This is true for all emission eras.

Bitcoin bla bla, schnorr bla bla.

Here's a cat picture

I took out a transport cage to clean it up this summer, went back in to get some water and paper and when I came back out five feral cats had decided to take a nap in it, I postponed the cleaning and took a picture instead.

could be the reason for the small drop...     buy the dip

https://cointelegraph.com/news/btc-and-okb-plunge-after-okex-suspends-withdrawals

"Major exchange OKEx suddenly suspended crypto withdrawals while one its key custodians cooperates with an investigation, shaking the crypto markets

Major crypto asset exchange OKEx has suspended cryptocurrency withdrawals, announcing that one of the holders of its private keys is “currently cooperating with a public security bureau” concerning ongoing “investigations.”

The exchange noted that it has been “out of touch” with the key-holder, preventing the "associated authorization" from being completed. OKEx plans to resume digital asset withdrawals “immediately” once the key-holder “is able to authorize the transaction.”"

if I was a member of a banking cartel/consortium and I would want to fight bitcoin since it threatens my 500 year monopoly on handling peoples money I would form a major bitcoin exchange. best way of manipulating the price, do rug pulls, etc.
funny thing is that my competing exchanges wouldn't even mind my business since it would create volatility which is how my competing exchanges make money.
