My rental ran out. I haven't seen a block take longer than 24hrs in a long time. I'm done with mining btc for now.
Tell me about it .... 26hrs+ and counting ... what a day! that and the bitcoin price .... I don't blame you man, at least on slush, but if the block were ticking over, I'd keep mining up until the entire system imploded or I went broke, whichever first.

WHAT THE FLAMING FUCK ! THIS IS GOING TO BE A 36 Hour Block!

something smells like horse shit here there is no way a block could take this long with 10/THs of mining power
FUCKING "A" 36 hr block -- if it looks like shit - its probably shit !

This question, my friends, is a need to know type question.

Is there a discernible slowdown in the number of blocks being solved on the network in the past week or so, and could that explain the barren patch that the evergreen slush seems to have hit?

The blue line is the 7 day window estimate, so the estimate has gone down. That could be a response to the price decline, or a return to closer to the true value from the earlier spike.

Network hashrate has nothing to do with slush on the short term though. It's only our hashrate and the current difficulty. As eleuthria said, the current CDF is 99.75, so a block this long should come along once in 400 blocks. At 3.4% of the network, you'd expect a block this bad about every 75 days.

Welcome to day 75.

I believe in a pool being unlucky SOMETIME,  but I do not believe in a pool being unlucky ALL THE TIME!  SOMETHING IS FISHY HERE!
This requires a mention.
You are either too new to slush or you have a very short memory. Just over a week ago, slush was finding 8+ blocks a day, I think the last big harvest was 10 blocks in one day, and that just over a week ago!

Still not at 1 in 1,000 levels of bad luck yet.  Given slush's stats imply the pool has had ~23,000 rounds (stats say 23414, but I think there's been a few gaps due to db sync issues/bugs/tweaks over the years), it's unlikely this is a record breaker in terms of CDF (hasn't slush had a 99.99, AKA 1 in 10,000, once in the past?).

EDIT:  Now at 1 in 1,000 (or worse) levels.

blocks mined cut in half here over the last week, BTC half the price they where a month ago, whats next ?

People will stop mining

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that as mining moves forward and if large mining operations (cloud miners), fall off due to inability to afford to pay to mine that the difficulty level would actually drop instead of continue to go up since a substantial amount less of hashing power will be attempting to solve each block within the pool?

I am curious to know, I hope that slush or another pool operator could share their thoughts on this.

Hi everyone.

Tough times at the moment  Cry

I have been mining with slush since the very beginning of my mining journey, we started back in February of 2014 and never left.

We currently have around 18TH and we are struggling to keep the mining operation going, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on other pools i could try.

Im looking at either trying eligius or antpool, could anyone give me any advice or point me in the right direction i would appreciate it, as i don't want to jump ship, but it looks like i may have too as with how low the BTC value is at the moment, i cant afford to ride out these really bad luck days.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also happy new year all you slushers been doing the rain dance that long im all danced out.

Wow 40 hours without a block. This is the longest I have seen. Anyone one ever remember a block taking more than 40 hours at Slush before? I think this might be a record.
Time to find my dancing shoes and get the rain dance started.

If you are looking for a more consistent payout then you might want to look into one of the PPS pools in the mining subgroup. You might make a little less overall but you will receive a more consistent payout that you can count on.
