Well, the negatives were amusing. I suspect that what happened is the numbers got bigger than could be represented with the number type in the code. when that happens the sign bit gets changed and the number wraps around becoming negative. basically the biggest number + 1 = the most negative number.

I wonder how many of people on here who complain bitterly about under-scoring, keep quiet whenever it pays out over the odds on a block?
Human nature and all that....

I already PM'd Slush about my datatype overflow suggestion. He hasn't been only since. But it's nice to see others have the same idea as to what may be biting the pool. Hopefully it can be identified soon, as that could lead to a real solution and less work for the operator repeatedly having to recalculate certain blocks.

You must be a saint then and never complained bitterly in your life. I think you're confusing fact-finding or legitimate inquiry for complaining bitterly. If you have no issues, then good for you...mine on and move on. Leave the rest of us to take care of our own business. Slush won't give extra rewards for brown-nosing; he's too smart for that.

Hit a nerve did I? I have pointed out an error once or twice myself, but when my score is lower, I comment and move on, which is more than some people on here have done in the past. I'm no saint, tbh, but I have perspective. It's obvious that Slush won't give rewards for brown-nosing, and I'm not asking for any - but it appears my little test of human nature was a success

What does it matter it someone else knows I got bigger reward than deserved? It's not like bitcoin transactions could be reversed, and I don't have any obligations to give it back, no?
But jokes aside, it is interesting how pool total speed has grown. Maybe that is the issue? Server hardware cannot keep up?

Thanks PrintMule - that's a more civilised answer, and what I was getting at.
If it averages out at roughly what someone should get, then I see no problems in them keeping quiet, but it saddens me when some people complain over and over about a tiny fraction of a Bitcoin down, and threatening to leave the pool - as if Slush hasn't got enough on his plate, with the errors being thrown up by the system, and geneeral system management.
Also, Visdude - I wasn't targeting any one person, just generalising, f.y.i.
On the whole, I don't complain about being short, because I know it will normally be corrected, whether it's Slush doing it or the system automatically error correcting, I have no idea.

I would have told in thread or pm'd slush if i ever got paided more...but i didn't...the only thing happened to me has been bad...and hell i might not have complained about that if i've been over rewarded...cause that would mean it probably would have evened itself out but it hasn't...so there to yer point I wonder how many of people on here who complain bitterly about under-scoring, keep quiet whenever it pays out over the odds on a block?

Self-aggrandizing or self-righteousness perhaps? Are you happy now that you "hit a nerve"? It's amazing what some people do to boost their self-esteem. It appears my test on human pettiness and the low self-esteem that goes along with it was a success.

Did you even look at the blocks I posted? There are some who think they do... And call you a idiot if you say there is a problem and fell need to say why are you complaining it will fix itself... Well some blocks did fix itself in the last system crash but not all. The one that were just "little"(from what I can see is at lest 20% error system doesn't fix automatic) off are as they were. But writing on forum will not help. Slush is gone again(look profile for last login or post) so he will not fix them manual and some will get confirm any second now. And you can forget about confirmed blocks. Since Slush pool doesn't work unattended and Slush is not looking for it that means use it at your own risk. My test-run was over in 24 hours seeing all old errors that were the reason why I left in a first place. The only difference was that they can up about 5 times more frequently... But in a case of block that you posted. From what I can see you did have some connection issues or you stop mining. Number of shares is off if you look at blocks. Alternatively I did see shares logging errors so that could also be the case. Did you mine the whole block? If you did stop before the end 0.00000000 could be normal...

my pings to stratum at running around 100ms today, shares seem to be slightly lower even as i added another 400mh to my rigs.
would i see any benefit to running stratum proxy as apposed to just connecting to stratum with cgminer.

Not relay unless you have a lot of rigs and some are blocked(Slush has a limit on how many connection you can have from one IP). If you don't you will see even slower connection since you added another operation between you and stratum... And when you are talking about the shares. What do you mean by that? You can look at estimated speed to see if it is OK. Or are you talking about share of the reword?

a small example of the reward differences i get, 25-30% difference, i see no reason to stress or leave the pool. just hoping to help other newbies make an informed decision about this pool, with all the arguments going on in the last month or so, all of which have valid points but only confuse people like me.

At your speed 25 to 30% is normal. See Slush method to understand how speed affect differenced. I get 140 shares in less then 5 minutes. And was the newbie part meant for me?

There's been so many posts contradicting each other that as a newbie i find it overwhelming trying to figure out what to expect, a visual representation of similar length rounds may at least help someone to choose if this pool is right for them. I am too much of a noob to call anyone a newbie, i did notice your sr member status earlier, apologies if i offended.

Ok, sorry. I have to bite again. Anyone can get sr member status. All you have to do is make 250 posts (or is it 300 - something like that). And then that's it. Doesn't actually matter if your posts all say 'hello' - just the quantity that counts...

Doesn't actually matter if your posts all say 'hello' - just the quantity that counts... Same goes for any kind of member... Even Hero member like... And after today crash of the reword system even you can't say that everything is good since some blocks are still off and confirmed. Or can you? valladex no offence. I was just wondering to who are you referring to...
