The mining industry is still young enough and its hardware rare enough that regulators still don't fully understand them.

I don't believe anyone thinks that you are wrong. It's just that people don't care enough to not purchase. You hit the nail on the head with the mining industry being young and crypto in general very unregulated. I believe you have made your point (many times now), but you have to accept people are not imbeciles and have spent good money based on the limited/minimal information they have available to them. It was a gamble that has paid off for some people.

I do not think that many people would buy a car, no matter what promises are made or how cheap it is, from a manufacturer that has none of the accountability details you have repeatedly says. But Crypto is not the automotive industry.

I think you have made your point now, and let people draw their own conclusions

Made you look!

[...]

Competing in this space is incredibly difficult for many reasons. Firstly it's incredibly costly to tape out your own ASICs, especially for new process node (we're using 10nm), the NRE is already ludicrous - not to mention all the cascade of expenses that follow, and yield loss at every stage of the process. Then you have to deal with highly questionable,  anti competitive practices perpetrated by monopolies - like buying out all the components needed to make the miner or making arrangements that they be unavailable to competitors; and of course price wars where they can afford to sell at cost or below cost for long enough to kill competition. It would seem many of the posters in this thread still think of mining back in the days when you only needed a million or two at most from start to finish and there wasn't any strong monopoly.

[...]

It's simple enough.

10nm

which fab?

how many masks  for that 10nm?

Answers to those two will explain a lot

What would answers to these questions explain?
Do you doubt, that it is a 10nm?

I guess the fab is Samsung. Mask count depends on used devices and the selected metal stack, should be larger than 60.

It could be 1nm for all I care.  so far no one has shown  it to do 16000gh  at 1480 watts  other then the short demo.

the pcb board  holding the hashing chips looks exactly like an s-9
the pcb board for the controller like a lot like an innosilicon

so how about  this t-9 is just that a modded s-9 + innosilicon  in an s-9 case with a pair of side panels attach to it.

truth be told I would be fine with that  if it did 16000gh at 1480 watts.

I get a t1 in tomorrow it is not the promised demo  it came from a forum member that got a moq of 5 sent to him.

I will tear it down and test it out once I get it.

Well  I guess bitching and moaning and complaining enough does help

I have a DHL tracking number  and it appears to be a pair of miners the T1 and the Blake 2b  with power supplies for both units.

So I will soon have two t1's and the blake which is the b52 or b29

I am thrilled to say the least.

No so sure if  the blake model will have a lot of custom issues.

The single T1 btc miner should be okay.

I setup notifications on the cell phone and email.

Just in case I need to prepay  the 3%  USA charges us for over $2500 items.

I get the other T1  from a forum member this tuesday.

This means I will have 2 t1's to test against each other.

@dimaze  did you get stuck  with a custom duty bill from dhl on the blake miner or the sha 256 miner?

Because I paid for them all, yeah - was exactly 3% of the value. It's all based on what is on the invoice. If they're sending you the free unit and the invoice shows likewise, I don't think you'll end up paying a penny. Or they may put a base value that is minimal compared to their selling value, which should be below the 2500 threshold anyways.

I think we'll end up getting them wednesday/thursday if they shipped out today based on my experience with the blakes. Exciting!

I am really interested in hearing the answer to this question.  10nm with the ASICBoost?  I don't see the benefit.  If you had to guess, which fab did they use or do you think the whole 10nm is fabrication?

In reference to the Innosilicon T1 16TH/s SHA256 miner...

Sorry guys...not trying to offend anyone here...but a prius doesn't look like a dump truck because they both have rubber in their tires.  The PCB does not "look" like an Innosilicon board, they are boards from the same design.  There is not one doubt in my mind!  I tried to find a picture of a prius dump truck, but I guess that hasn't been invented yet.  Cheesy

These are the only possibilities:

-Inno doesn't make their own PCBs, they farmed it out to a contractor.  Halong used the same contractor and that contractor made extremely insignificant changes to the PCB down to the fab!!! markings.  If this is the case, Innosilicon is incompetent with their contract writing or got ripped off.  ...And halong asked for their name to not be written on the PCB?  Smiley

-Inno is Halong

-Halong is Inno

-Theft on an IP source level, which unlikely since why not lift a finger to hide the theft?  In a day or two I could make the boards look pretty different!  People say that they don't care if they are in possession of stolen designs, but we should care!

Some of the people here who seem the most "annoying" are on point and have made great points which should be answered.

Will the real Innosilicon please stand up, please stand up!  Wink

My guess here is that industry people know what is going on and are asking leading questions on purpose.  A good take down involves an accusation, denial, tiny bit more proof, another denial, and then the smack down which forever removes all creditability.  The drama with Innosilicon is far from over.  The first line in this post wasn't a joke, btw...

Hmmm u dont find it too coincidental that all halong algos do not coincide with inno algos? There are 4 algos now on halong as it is. Halong has similar designs with inno and all their products do not compete with inno. I dont think there will ever be concrete evidence to confirm or deny this though. We can only speculate.

Just my 2 cents speculation

Here's a funny detail.

I sent Innosilicon an e-mail and said that I would like to order the T1 16Th/s Bitcoin miner.

It has over a week now and it is a total silence, no replies.

Not even an e-mail reply saying that "such product doesn't exist in our product catalog".

There are plenty of ways to find out.

First dead hashboard that someone has, lets decap one of the ASICs.  There could be a name in there.  They have to be proud of their work somewhere...

The PCB is good enough for me.  If it was stolen or whatever they would likely have made a stink about it already...

Another good place to look would be when/where/who compiled the kernels between the products, similarities in config files, file system arrangement, etc.

Like I said, zero effort to make the boards look different.  They can't really care that much if people figure it out...

I can't remember who it was, but I've seen "Stolen from xxxx" on the perimeter.  Smiley  Just for anyone who looked!

For the people who's orders from batch 1 shipped - did you get an email of shipment from Halong?

I'm in Batch 2 (or maybe 3, it's hard to see on their site) and wondering if I have to check the site now and then or if they'll proactively notify me when the order status changes?

If halong ordered 10,000  s-9's  in Jan 2017   then reversed engineered  them to unlock asic boost and had innosilicon controllers
modified with the same contractor that built them for innosilicon, thus Achieving  16000th and 1480 watts at 2 pools I am fine with that.

If they kept it secret and don't want to tell us  it is a mix of bitmain + innosilicon I am fine with that.
As to bitmain and or innosilicon  being fine with that  I guess they are as  neither one of them are  complaining publicly.
No one has evidence of lawsuits against them.

My hope is to see just what  the gear does do.

My first T1  comes today  from a forum member It is from his moq of 5 units.

He gave sent  me 1 T1 and 1 halong psu.

He said it was his middle preforming one.

He got about 15.2th and 1520 watts with it.

vs 16.0  and 1480 watts.

The two items are on the truck. Due to my home today.

MY  demo gear from MyRig/Yoshi  is due Fri the 13th Not sure if that is good or bad luck.
