Deepbit is experiencing problems. Hashrate is down 2/3rds and the website is intermittent. My workers keep giving error messages that support. Any official update to what the situation is?
Dalkore
They are getting hit by a DDoS Attack. Way to SandBag Deepbits post of "Go fucking look you lazy fool" by placing the info right under the post. Pool members should not have to wade through 250+ pages of replies to figure what is going on. I assumed I would see post below that just had this information.

Yes, I know there is a ddos.
I have 3 machines mining at deepbit. 2 of them with 5830x2 are currently connected and submitting work. The other is not. Yet they are all in the same colo facility, using the same host to mine at deepbit, same DNS servers... etc..
The only difference is that two that are submitting work use guiminer while the other uses cgminer.
I am just sitting here wondering why 2 work somewhat and the other cannot submit a single thing.
Any ideas? A load balancer on your end failing to submit work to a back end server? No idea myself when it comes to my end which I control.
thanks

It's more likely that only one backend from the load balanced setup is being attacked.

Do they see pit.deepbit.net as the same IP address ? Have you tried to restart your cgminer ?

If that was the case wouldn't the admin just remove that back end server from the load balancing pool? Or do they think the next would get attacked and so on? Just speculating here.

Yet they are all in the same colo facility, using the same host to mine at deepbit, same DNS servers... etc.. Are those machines being behind the same IP address ? Do they see pit.deepbit.net as the same IP address ? Have you tried to restart your cgminer ? Each machine has a public IP address on it. The one that is not working currently is in a different subnet then the other 2. The reason for this is that I setup the first as a small subnet back in the day and then added 2 more machines on a new subnet. I work for the ISP these are colo'd at. Using the cmd prompt and attempting to ping pit.deepbit.net, after using ipconfig /flushdns, they see it resolve to the same IP. I even queried your DNS servers directly from a unix box using the host command. They match up fine. I did stop a cgminer process and started it up in a fresh cmd window. It just hangs trying to probe for the pool. In other words connect. yet from a unix box on my lan with a pub IP on the interface I can easily do this: telnet pit.deepbit.net 8332 Trying 91.223.77.253... Connected to pit.deepbit.net. Escape character is '^]'. which shows the port as open. Odd. It is like my IP is banned?

It is like my IP is banned? Looks like it may be a false positive of our ddos-protection system. You can try changing your IP or waiting. Sorry about that.

Sorry about that. changed IP to the other subnet and cgminer is working again. when the dos is over do you flush the ip table it is using? otherwise you will have a ton of users sitting in this table and unable to connect. plus the support issues to deal with.

This sucks we were on such a good winning streak. I wonder who you pissed off this time Nobody pissed someone off. It's summer, it's a bunch of script kiddies home from school and back at their parents' house with nothing to do. I got hit briefly yesterday, and I've been continuing to get threatening emails demanding money (via LibertyReserve, lol) or else BTC Guild will go down again just like Deepbit. Same shit as last year, except this time it's not as bad (last time they were able to take down all the major pools at once). There's nothing any pool op can do but wait it out. I'm hoping by now everybody at least learned to set MULTIPLE backup pools. And hopefully they're not all pointed at the 4 largest pools because a larger threat could easily take down most of the Top 10 at once. EDIT: Looks like I pissed them off with my comment. Yah! keep talking shit its working The zombie horde is leaving!

yea i got ddos'ed a few times on deepbit yesteday. God hackers out to stop people from making a decent bitcoin in a day? wtf.. anyways is the website down? i can't access it. Also noticed we are going pps like btcguild? cuz my shares don't make sense.
f. e. 1 share = .000024xxxxxpie! etc.. so 300 shares is .0072 is round up to 8. Well I'm getting 1/2 of it. Say if pps is 90%, u guys get 10%. and shared is 83? Well jsut wanted to tell u guys i'm getting something like .00001x per share or something so yea it's off big time. Unless i'm getting bitcoin hijacked by my guiminer.

DeepBit is already a PPS Pool, its been a merged Prop and PPS pool for a long time. If your mining Prop your shares aren't going to be the exact rate, depending on the luck of the round it will be worth more or less then it. Plus you will be effected by Hoppers.

In last 2 days our luck is 10 to 20% better than expected, so you should get even more than PPS. Effect of poolhoppers is negligible, I'm trying to scare them off :)

Its not the first time it has happened but my daily payout still isn't confirmed 9 hours after broadcasting. Are you not including your own transactions in found blocks? I would imagine being a miner here should mean my payments are included in the blocks I am helping to mine.

I would imagine being a miner here should mean my payments are included in the blocks I am helping to mine. Recently the TX queue got much longer because of that SatoshiDice flood. I'm making necessary adjustments to my priority policy, so it should get better soon. Sorry for this delay.
