I usually only get a couple stales per day Today I've had 10 in less than 8 hrs Sometimes network conditions can be worse than usual, sometimes you or we have bad luck. No serious changes were performed today. I'll check this issue.

My stales have been going down today. Doesn't seem like a total network issue. More isolated. Perhaps there was an ISP issue today?

Just did a speed test and the connection is better than normal but I'm seeing sporadic connection problems to deepbit and a drop in what hash rate deepbit shows these are not all machines that use a single ip address or are they speed deamons they old & slow and have been working fine for months I restarted the miners just for luck but no difference Guess it's just bad luck on my birth day

My miners are still uploading shares, but I just tried visiting the website and it appears to be loading extremely slowly. That fact combined with the extremely small number of blocks found today makes me think there might be DDos or connection issues. But I'm in no position to state anything definitive.

Site doesn't looks slow to me at all and I don't see any pool's hashrate decline, so it may be caused by connection problems with some specific part of the internet, may be. Checking this.

Dunno if it is relevant, but some of our services were unavailable to certain customers after Nlayer's Chicago POP went offline yesterday. Took a few hours before the internet routed around the problem, but it still could be causing strange issues.

What is going on today? Worst luck I think I have seen since I left Slush... We are currently at 25% over difficulty for 24 hours
Edit: my bad, it is actually 45% over difficulty at ~2500000

Well you only need to go back almost 4 months for 50% (200% shares per block) https://deepbit.net/stats/1330819200I think that might be the record worst day

The longer the blocks, the greater the effect on daily luck.
If you want to compare pool luck between different periods, you need to compare round length for a set number of rounds, not per day. Compare one sequence of 50 rounds with another.
Taking a daily average will make daily luck seem, on average, bad.

Eh? No it wont. The only problem with looking at a daily average is ... it's a daily average (again Sample vs Population ) One day it may be low, the next day it may be high. Compared to the long term it means nothing, but it will certainly not always be bad, it will, on average, be bad half the time and good half the time and aside: my post was simply pointing out the worst day I know of here at deepbit, nothing about what to expect Deepbit also has an 825% share block back around then (not the last one on that page either) and that 8x factor seems to show up in BTC mining when looking at somewhat more extreme results, so I take that as a point to note when people complain about 400% to 700% share blocks and say that 800% blocks are certainly not unexpected ...
