In the 2nd ODI match New Zealand vs India the game between two teams has started. But the game is stopped now due to rain. Maybe this game will resume when the rain stops. India batted first and scored 22 runs in 4.5 overs but no wicket has been lost so far. India is good.  The batting was going to run, but due to the rain, the game is not going on anymore.

The rain has spoiled this match and there was no result in the match today at Hamilton.

Shubman Gill and Yadav were playing well when the rain hits the ground. Although we cannot predict what could have happened if we had the full match. One thing was sure that India would have scored 320+ runs as they were playing at a very good rate.

Now we have the final match left in the series which will be played at Christchurch on 30 Nov. India cannot win this series and New Zealand cannot lose this series. However, the series can be drawn if India wins this last match.

What you're saying makes sense logically, but he was disappointing during critical moments which is why I feel that he is a bad bowler. Siraj, Umran etc are better in comparison during these critical moments.

Sri Lanka had a chance to win today's match. They were batting against a target of only 229 runs. The target was not big. Sri Lanka was badly defeated in the first match. So they could have equalized the series by winning today's match. The last match of the series will be held on the 30th of November. Hopefully, Sri Lanka will win the match and be able to draw the series.

I also thought that Sri Lanka will win today's match and tie the series. But the match is getting delayed due to rain. Sri Lanka collected 10 runs without losing any wicket in 2.4 overs. There is no guarantee when the match will resume. Sri Lanka were defeated in the last match due to the stupidity of their batsmen. It looks like rain all around. Two matches on two different locations ending up with no result is really bad. If this is a T20 match, somehow result could've been reached. The rain is an advantage for New Zealand and Afghanistan. Winning the upcoming match will win them the trophy. In today's match, this could've been a win for Sri Lanka. Just out of curiosity i want to ask you guys what do you think about covered criket stadiums? Is there a possibility that these could be the future? I understand that permanently covered stadiums are obviously not practical as pitches need a lot of sunlight for preparation. But some sort of infrastructure where the sheds can be opened and closed. This obviously will be pretty costly but would be worth the cost for sure.

Covered stadiums do solve this problem but it also presents different challenges as well.

These stadiums are costly. Australia built one back in 2000s and the cost was around $300 Million. You can imagine how much it would cost now, a conservative estimate should be around Billion dollars. Not every board can afford it, even BCCI.

Having said that if these stadiums host multiple sports throughout the year then there is a chance this idea could work because you don't want billion dollar stadium only hosting 5 matches every year (15-20 events should cover the cost)

For sunlight issue, drop in pitches looks okay.

Likes of Bumrah, Shaheen, Rauf etc are also choked during critical moments so it's not just Arshdeep but overall he did a satisfactory job. In T-20 format he's a good bet for India (still new in ODI so not sure).

Umran is just 4 international matches old (3 T-20 and 1 ODI) so he has a long road ahead of him. Well, Siraj won't make it into T-20 squad tbh.

Rain has been playing a spoil sport in bilateral ODI series. I am not sure whether it is the fault of organizers or climate change. If it's a weather issue then the rich boards need to work on covered stadiums so that in the future a tournament can go on smoothly.

Srilanka were in total control yesterday. It was a win win situation for them as they were only chasing 229 runs. If the match had not been abandoned then Srilankan would have drawn the series. Now they need to win the last game of this series in order to draw it.

I meant that in the area where the rain is more likely to be buried, you must think before the series management. Although we all know that such thing is not possible in advance. However, if a new series is determined, it can be planned according to time and Meteorological situation. By the way Sri Lanka did great performance in the last Asia Cup but since then they are not been seen in a very good form. But hopefully they will be able to return to ODI with the Afghan series.

You are right in your point of view but ICC have to manage all the series and events and if they start looking at the weather conditions, sometime it may not be feasible to schedule the series and some tournaments may have become overlap and things may be complicated. Also these days we have IPL, PSL, BBL, and other leagues and players also need time to play those series along with the commitment with their national team.
It is easy for us to say that ICC should schedule tournaments when there is no rain but the ground realty is that it is not an easy task.

Another point here is that bowlers like Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi are particularly amazing in the powerplay while I never saw that sort of spark in Arshdeep.

I just feel that Umran has a lot more potential than Arshdeep and can be deadly if groomed properly.

It is easy for us to say that ICC should schedule tournaments when there is no rain but the ground realty is that it is not an easy task.

It would have been an easy task if they built more closed roof stadiums and they have the budget to make it happen, but they don't primarily because they are corrupt and focus on stealing as much money as they can for themselves.

I am not sure about the exact reason but budget is not an issue for the ICC or any other Local Board in Cricket as far i know cricket is one of the most watched sports in Asia for an example IND vs PAK T20I match 90k audience and rumors were not even a single seat was empty and all were sold in 15 mins imagine the money they made just by selling Tickets from the single Match.

Too many rains these days. The last T20 World cup was affected by rain, India and New Zealand ODI series affected by rain and now this. Srilanka bowling was superb in second ODI as they bowled out Afghanistan on 228 runs. Rahmat Shah was top scorer but he was too slow in scoring runs like rest of Afghanistan batsmen.
Rain has given an Edge to Afghanistan that they wont lose this series.

And another thing is there are a lot of cricket boards that cannot even afford the DRS system. So building a stadium like that is going to be very hard for them.

But it can be good for cricket in the long run. The bad system of Duckworth Lewis is not going to have any kind of affect if stadiums like that are made. But honestly, I think we are a long way away from getting stadiums like that.

In this regard i would say not only T20 also ODIs and Tests are the most desirable if India and Pakistan play. I don't know is there any situation can be happen with any other team. But a sad thing is that despite having such a huge market, there is no series between these two teams. I think it is lose of cricket and it is loss of ICC. These two countries should have to work together to make Asian cricket stronger by forgetting all the enmity.

Arshdeep's powerplay bowling numbers are more impressive when compared with his death bowling and he already proved this in T-20 WC.

So I don't know bhai what kind of spark you are looking for. Umran does have potential if he can control his line n length, which he'll learn for sure.

One is a left-arm bowler and the other clocks 150s so IMO both are very important for the future.

Covered stadiums are often on everyone's mind lately. It is currently only in Australia but we may see more stadiums like this in the future. Maybe in Pakistan Bangladesh or Sri Lanka it will be a big problem due to budget but i think India is capable to made it in their country.
