Good news to those PBA lovers and Esports lovers as well, Marc Pingris and Junemar Fajardo are going to play DOTA for a cause, for those who can relate to this game it's your time help and support the frontliners of our battle with this disease. I'm not an enthusiast of this game  Grin and don't have any idea of the mechanics on how we can support this endeavor.

https://www.pba.ph/news/pingris-fajardo-play-dota-for-worthwhile-cause

Oh, really, this is my first time I heard that those PBA Stars like Pingris and Fajardo have been joining in the E-sports playing. Well it was a good idea, because we are now in our homes because of the coronavirus outbreak and I think it is the best moment to try E-sports to prevent of getting bored in our homes. Me too I don’t know on how to support this famous PBA players, I think I will support them by watching this match at April 6. Thank you for sharing the good news to us.

Arwind Santos is also at 38 and will turn 39 this June. Still, lots of works to be included in the 10,000 point mark as we know the SMB team has lots of scorers.

I agree with that, Santos although a good shooter but most of his shots now are just in 3 point range, he is not really the main scorer of the team so it will be hard for him to catch up. Anyway, to be included in top 20 is already a good achievement, that means he is better than the other players that is not included in the list, I'm even surprise I have not seen castro on the list.

He will struggle to reach that far since the ball is shared on smb and also the age factor is a huge burden plus there's current disease occuring which really affect his milestone, so for this I don't think he can reach that not unless if he still play balls at the age of 40.

And castro's game is seasonal age factor hits them up that's why he's little been slow down compare on the  past years of his career.

That's affect them much, both players are aging and in terms of skills they are not that focus, they just happy to work with the team
and provide whatever contributions that they can give to the team.
Winning is the focus and not and individual stats.

Castro would not retire soon, he is just 33 years old so he can still play.

I made some research, of the sites I read, it says that castro has not reach 3,000 points yet in his career, which is very far compared to Santos points.
I also think that he will not reach the top 20 level since he like you said, he doesn't score much, maybe he is focusing on building on his assist stats compared to his points, that kind of play would fit on his age now.

The weird fact is that he needs 666 points to reach that 10,000 points club. The good thing with Arwind Santos is that he is not a battered player since the arrival of Fajardo so i think he can still play ball even at the age of 42, he's very disciplined with his body also. The question that lingers on my mind is that "can he reach that 10,000 points before the age of 40?".

If the target is prior to age 40, we have 3 factors to look at:

1) PBA games is currently suspended. As also stated above, Santos will turn 39 this June. We aren't sure when will PBA season commence.

2) SMB is currently on a test lineup for either 2-3 games to cover the hole for Fajardo's absence. Since Fajardo is now out of the season, Santos will surely have great playing time. However, there's also a possibility that Fajardo will now be cleared of the injury once PBA came back and it will now lead to SMBs rotation back to usual. The estimated period of recovery, as of the first report is about a whole conference. PBA conference lasted at around 3 months if I'm not mistaken. Although we can expect that maybe Fajardo will have limited playing time once he came back or Austria will just use him in an important situation as they did a few years ago in the Finals, Santos might be used more compare to The Kraken.

3) PBA conference has 11 games each for a total of 33 games in a season (3 conferences exclude quarterfinals, semis, and finals). Santos needs to score 21 PPG perfectly the whole season to reach the 10,000 points which are not his usual average although he can add more points by performing well in the post-elimination which has a total of 15 games (if all game reached the sudden death until Finals).

In other words, this is tough for him Cheesy Once he turned 40, he must show no signs of slowing down as it might give way to their future gunners to step up more. I believed he will reach the 10,000 points club at the age of 42 or on his retirement season. However, we need to consider the Number 1.

Feel free to correct my Math lol.

~snip~

With your post above i'm intrigued and dig up the points made by Santos last season, here's what i've found.

2019 Philippine Cup (10 games) - 146 points.
2019 Commissioner's Cup (10 games) 70 points.
2019 Governor's Cup (10 games) 105 points

He got a total of 321 points in the eliminations alone and we can see that Philippine Cup is his strongest. Let's just presumed that he got 500 points because they also played in the championship and play-off games. So he need at least 2 seasons to cover that 666 points needed. With things happening now, i think the PBA can't complete a season this year. He will be 40 next year in June so my guess that he will be in that elite club of 10,000 point when he is 40 years old lol.

Both of you have lots of time to do mathematical computation. Cheesy

2 seasons is equivalent to 6 conferences which will take 2 years including the break. If he needs 2 seasons to cover the 666 points needed then he will pass his 40-year-old mark since PBA is suspended. There's also a possibility that he is already 39 when PBA will come back.

But whatever the scenario, it doesn't matter if he will reach the 10,000 points before 40. He is a great player even at his age so safe to say before he retires he will reach that.

Wow, it looks like Calvin Abueva will be back soon.

here's the latest news about our Idol, lol..

Willie Marcial on Abueva: 'Malaki ang pinagbago ni Calvin'

Quote
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial has taken notice of the charity works Calvin Abueva has done of late especially when he distributed packed foods in the San Juan area at this time of the coronavirus pandemic.

And Marcial is the first to acknowledge the big character change in the man they called ‘The Beast.’

Hopefully this will help Calvin to soften the heart of the commissioner and finally put him back his career.

Glad to hear this. Even what Calvin Abueva did in the past, I know he is still good and tough player on PBA, he got the balls! One of the best local player for me, he is really tough guy.
I hope to see Calvin Abueva on PBA again. Since I also watched him playing on some local league on some city in the Philippines which he was able to play as import on some team (this was after his suspension on PBA). I just watched it on Facebook before.

Nice one! It could really help Abueva to get back on the hard court earlier as we expected. Since the PBA commissioner noticed a big improvement on his attitude, let's hope they will now disregard the second stage of the suspension and just let Abueva make his comeback. I am starving for action packed games already, I like how he taunt players and do his mind games (but he must do it milder this time Grin).

Yeah, he's such a good player and he deserve a second chance to be back in the PBA, after all he is also human that could made mistakes in life but we do hope that this time he learned the lessons well.

One of the winner of this PBA break is NorthPort because Abueva's missed game in the Philippine Cup could be less than expected or nothing at all. We all know that Phoenix with Abueva in it is a power house specially on the defensive end of the floor.

I'll be interested in watching the Phoenix again as Abueva always brings the energy in the floor, but hopefully he can still play like what we are expecting since he has been lay off for quite awhile already,  I know he has been playing outside the league too but PBA is different, it's more competitive.

Does the PBA commissioner or Abueva itself tell the public already about the last thing that the latter need to do in order to get back in PBA? I haven't heard it yet.

I doubt the suspension of PBA will change the timeline for Abueva's return since Marcial surely froze the terms too.

Since Abueva is just staying at their home right now, the task can't be done as a pre-requisite for him to come back.

He might not come back right away but the message from Marcial simply tells that abueva has a chance to come back soon.
Everyone of his fans are hoping for him to come back soon, NBA is so boring without him, he is one of the stars in the PBA gives full energy to his team and to the game itself, believe me once he is back Phoenix would be fun to watch and they might have more success in the all Filipino cup once they resume it.

I wonder why you mentioned the NBA here while we are talking about PBA in this discussion. But I agree with PBA is different without abueva and they are became more boring since there judgement is so soft that's why we rarely see an exciting  physical fight there. But I don't also think he's return will be a good success with Phoenix since  imagine how long he's been away in the court and for sure the ambience is different and he will struggle for his first game on the court.

It's nice gesture for the SMB president for helping the people who got affected by the crisis but I think the others are helping already but not publicize by media or the other is waiting for a push.

And by this humanitarian act by him for sure the other president, governor or team owners will follow to donate.

I wonder also if there's a player donates some goods already since there's no noise about it on medias.
