As I heard before, I think  the PBA have allocated funds for this which they get from their revenue of this league, so maybe aside from personal donation from the PBA players, the PBA organization has money allocated for their retired players, especially players that made names in their career.

Sad hearing this one i am once a Fan of Nelson Asaytono together with Patrimonio,Lastimosa and Capacio.
this is a Good initiative of the Association to Help those former Basketball players.
Hope Nelson may recover though he is in the right age now of having that attack.

I haven't heard that before, but it is a good one, if so that is legitimate.

They should consider this factors, COVID 19 is not a simple but a virus where can take a life in a short period of time, the PBA management should focus on how to avoid anyone being infected of this virus, instead of rushing things out, if it's possible to know all the details first even Corona is already been contained. The health is very important stuff best to think about it first before anything else.

The PBA is doing it's share in fighting this virus and I don't think they are rushing in resuming the games. They are closely monitoring the situation and making a plan out of it. The two-conference season will be implemented if things won't worsen, that's their plan and if this virus won't be contain still the soonest then we may see a one conference season this year.

PBA players and the organisation itself is helping the government on containing this COVID. We could see players donating their salaries for a good cause.

My question is, which conference will be suspended if it will be implemented that the two conference only will played in this season?

The Philippine cup has just started, so it means this conference will implemented? do they have a final words already about this?

Things are not yet definite as how many conferences the PBA will play this season. The PBA commissioner said that they are open to all possibilities including the cancellation of the 45th season if things will not get better. I hope not because this season is somewhat special as it is the 45th and the PBA is planning to award the 45 greatest players.

The help from the PBA is what matters as basketball player, he put his passion in the PBA and helping this organization to be more successful, I'm sure although these players received good salary during their time but their contribution to the revenue of the PBA is bigger that is why they deserved to help by the organization.

As for the PBA's management final decision, there is no official announcement yet.

But if I will answer that based on my own view, the All-Filipino Conference can be canceled for good since it just started and continue to the next conference instead (Commissioners Cup - around June). But knowing the current Philippine medical status, it's impossible to fully control the pandemic virus within just a 2-3 month period. We might see a decline in the numbers of confirmed cases and an increase to recovery in the following weeks but to fully execute the PBA comeback, it needs at least 100% assurance that it's now safe to social gather.

Now, if we add another 3 months and let's say the virus was totally controlled (I hope so here in PH), PBA can now proceed to the last conference which is the Governor's Cup instead (officially commences at around the month of September), canceling totally the first 2 conferences.

Bottom line:

Honestly, canceling the whole season may not actually harm the current standing since All-Filipino, the first conference of the season has just started (only a single game played). Not difficult to implement it unlike in NBA where they are now in 3/4 of the season and just around 20 games left before the playoffs. As for the contract, they can adjust it instead as players organization should already aware of that.

I don't think that would be easy. Currently, were the no.1 most covid-19 cases in the Southeast Asia and there is still no further announcement or cure to the virus. Furthermore, the number of cases in our country are continuesly increasing and it's not so easy to say the time that we'll go back to normal and "hoping" is the only option for the upcoming better days to happen.

I just actually gave a scenario on my whole post that leads to my bottom point of view.

The timeline of commencing PBA again really depends on how far PH will handle the pandemic virus.

Yes, you are right. The possibility of cancelling the 45th PBA season is so high but be just optimistic that this crisis would be over the soonest possible time so things will be back to normal again. Romeo was doing great on that game and off the court he was doing MVP moves which is helping the government in this battle. Lot of PBA players are helping but Romeo's name just stood out for me.

He will be miss, the stellar of his career was when he was playing wit the TNT.
RDO is just a great player, he is a clutch one and he has a great contribution in international games also.

Hopefully he save and invested a lot so he can fully enjoy his retirement.
He is one of the big man who are great in 3 point shooting.

Good time for him to finally step out and give this space for new players who are  aspiring to play inside PBA, as you mentioned, being prone to injury and he also aging with heavy competition now inside the league. Though  personally is not good since there's pandemic virus which still spreading, If there's nothing like this, he should have given good recognition for his contribution to this league.

Yeah, I miss this one, when these 3 plays together in the floor, they are very effective.
RDO is not a kind of a strong and a fast player but his intelligence in the court is very impressive.
