These are the games taking place on 20th May 2023:
Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford Bournemouth vs Manchester United Fulham vs Crystal Palace Liverpool vs Aston Villa Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal
If the mathematics are correct, Manchester City will be crowned champions unless Arsenal win at Nottingham Forest. Even though Liverpool find themselves in a mini-revival it would not be impossible for Aston Villa to spoil the party therefore Manchester United and Newcastle United may not have to do too much to ensure they finish 3rd and 4th at the end of the season and with that play Champions League football in the 2023/24 season.
Manchester City is like an impenetrable wall, considering the significant points gap from other teams, their chances of winning the league seem almost certain unless Arsenal wins the upcoming match and earns a substantial number of points to close the gap with Manchester City. Arsenal must perform at their best and make significant improvements to secure a victory. However, it will undoubtedly be difficult for Arsenal as Newcastle, who has a similar points tally, has been performing well and consistently winning their matches. So, it remains challenging to catch up with Manchester City. This club has already secured the certainty of becoming the champions of this league.

West Ham hit Leeds' hopes about staying in the Premier League really hard today. Honestly my expectation from this game was a draw by both teams scoring. While it was 2-1 I was thinking that Leeds would score the equalizer and get an important point. But instead they conceded a shocking goal in the last moments which sealed the deal for West Ham.
The last week of the season is going to be really interesting in terms of the relegation area. Leeds and Leicester are both maintaining their chances of staying here mathematically. I can't say anything about Leicester yet as they haven't played their game this week. But for Leeds I can say that they have to win.
However there is a Leeds - Tottenham game then. You know Tottenham have lost their Europa League chance also and they have to win next time if they want to have a chance for the Europa Conference League. Therefore we might watch a quite competitive game between Leeds and them next time.

All the 'mathematically stuff' the football journos like to throw out there is just an attempt to keep our attention and get us still interested in the season. It's pretty clear that City has it in the bag. The books prolly have City to win the league lined at 1.10 or something... Maybe less.
The more exciting question is if Guardiola could win City a treble. In the EPL era, only Man United has ever done it. I would say it had to be less that 1.10 at the stage before they won the Premier League title and it is difficult to argue with the way you raised the point, Manchester City did have the title in the bag so to speak Manchester City is like an impenetrable wall, considering the significant points gap from other teams, their chances of winning the league seem almost certain unless Arsenal wins the upcoming match and earns a substantial number of points to close the gap with Manchester City. Arsenal must perform at their best and make significant improvements to secure a victory. So, it remains challenging to catch up with Manchester City. This club has already secured the certainty of becoming the champions of this league. I disagree, Newcastle United and Arsenal do not have a similar points tally. It is Manchester United and Newcastle United that have a similar points tally. Having said that Manchester City were excellent throughout the season and had only a few bumps here and there.

RESULT:
Newcastle United 0-0 Leicester City
In an amazing turn of events Newcastle United have secured Champions League football for next season by guaranteeing a place in the top four this season. It seems as though Manchester United will finish the season in 3rd place and Newcastle United will finish in 4th place. As for Leicester City they received a point today but they are in a struggle with Leeds United and Everton because two those three teams will face relegation.
In one of the future posts I will upload the Premier League table soon to provide a visual because goal difference will play a role at the top and bottom of the table.

After Mane's leaving the team at the beginning of the season I was thinking Liverpool would lose power. However I never predicted them to finish the league out of top 4. The actual surprise for me is Leicester's entering the final week in 18th place. While they have names who can play directly for many Premier League teams like Madison and Vardy, it isn't acceptable that they are at this point.

I was going to post an updated Premier League table but you got there first The updated table will be posted after the next set of games, I will leave it for until then but I think you have just highlighted the single most important reason why Liverpool saw their season collapse in an unacceptable manner for a team that was supposed to be regenerated under Klopp and were supposed to have been a permanent fixture in the title race season upon season. The reason without a doubt was Sadio Mane. After the way Mane was treated in comparison to Salah, it was obvious he was unhappy and made the decision to leave. How was it possible that Mane was on £90,000-£100,000 per week and Salah penned a new deal at somewhere between £350,000-£400,000 per week? Mane was not offered anywhere near that and when Liverpool tried one last time to get him to sign a new deal he refused. The great thing about Mane was that he always played with 100% conviction for the club, whenever he put that jersey on he played with pride and passion. What Liverpool lost when Mane was sold was someone who played football like a powerhouse. Bringing in all those new signings did not help and none were able to replicate the work rate of Mane and Liverpool buckled under intense pressure. As for Leicester City, it is clear they should not have found themselves in this predicament at all but in the end if the players are not performing then it will always be the case you find yourself in the league table where you deserve to be. Leeds United, Leicester City and Everton. Two of these teams will be relegated alongside already relegated Southampton. Everton vs Bournemouth Leeds United vs Tottenham Hotspur Leicester City vs West Ham United On Sunday if Everton manage just one point courtesy of a draw the other two teams will be relegated, it is as simple as that. I would have to conclude Everton will stay up and even if Leeds United and Leicester City win their respective games, they will be relegated. After Mane's leaving the team at the beginning of the season I was thinking Liverpool would lose power. However I never predicted them to finish the league out of top 4. Furthermore Leicester status is hard to digest but if they’re relegated many top team’s will come calling for their top player’s and post that I feel they may find it difficult to return to the premier league soon.

After a long journey Arsenal gave up on the league title earlier than I hoped for. But considering that I had no such expectation from them at the beginning of the season, this is still a great success for Arsenal. They are a very young team now and there isn't a big squad depth also. They still stayed in the title race for a long time which is admirable.
However they will need to start to prepare for next season as soon as possible after the end of this one. Because the current players won't be good enough to do something noteworthy in the Champions League or even maybe to be consistent in the Premier League. They should have a huge budget to use in the coming transfer window and they had beter use it efficiently.

I agree that Liverpool had played very well in the run up to them trying to get in to the Champions League for next season but eventually they failed. They could yet still be finishing the season 6th if Brighton manage to win their games. I do not share your optimism about Liverpool finding their form next season because teams such as Newcastle United (again), Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford will be pushing for a top 7 finish next season while the regular big teams will also be staking their claim to a top four finish. Leicester City should never have been where they are now but many mediocre teams by Premier League standards have been relegated and have simply bounced straight back after one season in the Championship. If they were to be relegated but their key players stayed they would be favourites to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. @JollyGood while Mane’s exit was a huge loss for Liverpool but in the last few games they have shown that they yet have the desire to compete at the highest level and once Klopp finishes restructuring his squad I expect that Liverpool will once again compete for the title once the new season starts. I do not share your optimism about Liverpool finding their form next season because teams such as Newcastle United (again), Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford will be pushing for a top 7 finish next season while the regular big teams will also be staking their claim to a top four finish. liverpool this season just dropped in performance because they had a lot of good players injured and they were prolonged injuries, if we look at the dates when their good players got better and started playing we will see that, for example in february liverpool was very low in the table, but when diogo jota healed from the injury and returned to play liverpool started to play well and as soon as luiz diaz also returned liverpool started to climb a lot in the table, i think that liverpool next season is much better than this season, they just need improve in some small things, they are not very serious things, while the other teams like newcastle and manchester united and arsenal are worse if we compare with the opponents that they will find in the champions league manchester united 4 - 1 chelseawithout a doubt the biggest disappointment this season was chelsea, honestly it's inexplicable how a team that has so much money can be so bad, how a team spends so much money on signing players for such a high price but they were players that didn't justify the price and his performance at Chelsea was a disaster, at least joao felix scored a goal today, but Kai Havertz he's not being a useful player for chelsea like 90% of the players that are in chelsea's attack and it's strange that I don't see news about him being sold, I wouldn't be surprised if next season all of them are still in chelsea

RESULT: Manchester United 4-1 ChelseaThis was yet another terrible night for Chelsea and Lampard. I sometimes wonder what Lampard would be going through as he watches Chelsea stoop lower and lower in both efforts levels and performances. He must be wondering why the players cannot perform to the level he did when he played for Chelsea. The consolation goal did not mask the fact Chelsea are a shambles and they are not ready for next season. On this form, I think it is clear Chelsea will finish outside the top seven next season because they simply are not good enough. Maybe a new manager will be able to bring out the best from this set of players. As for Manchester United, if they win their last game and Arsenal lose theirs, it will mean they finish the season just six points behind Arsenal and that is an unbelievable achievement considering they were in the relegation zone at the beginning of the season. They have already won the Carabao Cup and have qualified for the Champions League next season therefore it is already a successful campaign for them. If they win the first ever all-Manchester FA Cup final they will stop their rivals winning another trophy.

I expect Lampard to follow in the footsteps of Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, who failed as managers and went on to become pundits for the sake of their mental health. I've never seen a manager so clueless and sentimental at the same time, and I doubt any serious club would take him seriously after what he did with Everton and Chelsea with all the resources and players. He is undoubtedly the league's worst manager. He nearly sank us to the ground in the same condition in which he left Everton. Now that Poch has been chosen as the new manager, not official yet I am not overly optimistic, but at least he is someone who does not tolerate idleness and always expects the most from his players; he is worth the wait.

Now that Poch has been chosen as the new manager, not official yet I am not overly optimistic, but at least he is someone who does not tolerate idleness and always expects the most from his players; he is worth the wait. Pochettino has unbelievable man management skills. He takes a player under his wing and then makes them believe they have an extra 5-10% to offer the team and the players buy in to that mindset and give everything on the field for him. Pochettino worked wonders at Southampton and then the same at Tottenham on an almost shoestring budget. If all goes as expected and an official announcement is made about his appointment, I would expect Chelsea to take it easy in pre-season when they go on tour but expect them to start next season like they have a point to prove. I am looking forward to welcoming Pochettino back to the Premier League and look forward to the challenge they will mount in search of a top four finish because they will have to go up against Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Brighton and Aston Villa. ----------------- Finally here it is, these are the final games of the Premier League taking place this season. The games will be played at 4.30pm on Sunday 28th May 2023: Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Aston Villa vs Brighton and Hove Albion Brentford vs Manchester City Chelsea vs Newcastle United Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Everton vs Bournemouth On Sky Leeds United vs Tottenham Hotspur Leicester City vs West Ham United Manchester United vs Fulham Southampton vs LiverpoolHere is what has been confirmed: - Manchester City are confirmed as champions - Arsenal are confirmed as runners-up - Manchester United and Newcastle United will join the champions and runners-up in the Champions League next season - Liverpool will finish 5th therefore will play in the Europa League next season - Southampton are relegated Here is what has not been confirmed: - Which of the following two from three will be relegated alongside Southampton: Leicester City, Leeds United and Everton - Which teams will finish the season in 3rd and 4th place between Manchester United and Newcastle United

Poch is the closest thing to Conte in terms of demanding a lot from his players and pushing them to their limits; he plays wonderful attacking tactics, but I still think he lacks the winning instincts. The Chelsea position is one of the most demanding, and the fans are impatient; he may take some time to settle in, so we must be patient with him and allow him to get things done. Newcastle United, Brighton, and Aston Villa are not a threat; they are simply having a good season like any other club, but what distinguishes an elite club is consistency. I want to see them do it next season. - Which of the following two from three will be relegated alongside Southampton: Leicester City, Leeds United and Everton
Everton will survive- Leicester City and Leeds United will fall bottom.

I was thinking that after having the Arab capital, the team on the edge of relegation would use the money and go to the top of the premier league in couple of years. But strangely enough, they made it to the champions league the very next year with very good transfers and the right coach. Of course, big teams such as Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea had a bad year. But the team generally prefers young and mature players and had a successful result. Frankly, my sympathy is increasing day by day. If they continue the same policy this year instead of pouring millions on ridiculous players, we might see a new big team with real success.

I had Brenford and Everton to win on my slip after receiving early Manchester City leak line up news from some of my FPL colleagues, it would have been foolish of Pep to field his best players when the FA Cup and CL finals are coming up next month, the match was not important to them, it was an opportunity for the Academy players in the team to have some minutes, and that is exactly what he did. I feel bad for Leicester because they gave everything until the very end, but a second-half goal from Doucoure and a great last-minute save from Pickford were enough to keep Everton for another season. Southampton, Leeds and Leicester City have been relegated.
I told you so Everton will survive- Leicester City and Leeds United will fall bottom.

Guardiola had no choice but to save his best players for the final two games of a very long season. If Manchester City win the FA Cup final they will go in to the Champions League final with an immense belief they will win the treble. Personally I think it will end up being a case of them losing the FA Cup final in a close game and they will lose the Champions League badly final because Inter Milan might not control the bulk of the possession but they will be more effective in front of goal. They are most certainly going to one, I don't think they will lose both, but it is up to them to select which one to sacrifice for the other, but I can't lie, they have the squad depth to compete for both titles. I'll be rooting for Inter Milan since I don't want City to win the league and the CL in the same season.

There is going to be a break of one week between the FA Cup and Champions League final matches. This means a lot to Manchester City because they won't have to deal with serious level of fatigue. They can add these titles to their collection as well and finish the season with 3 titles which would be epic for them. They have a quite high chance to make this happen as well. I don't think there will be any underestimation issue with Manchester City on one hand. People want to see them winning the remaining titles for themselves.
They had better be careful against Manchester United and Inter both. Manchester United are the winner of the EFL Cup this season. Inter can try to catch them by surprise with some counter-attacks.
