If China attacks Taiwan, or if North Korea attack the South there will be a war in which the US will take part, despite of whoever they choose to be the president. IMO Biden has no chance for reelection. He's too old and is proving to be weak. A weak president makes the country look weak.

If China cannot take control of Taiwan, then most likely a war is going to happen, and US should be prepared for it. But if Biden will still win, I doubt he can stop a war with China. It makes zero sense to provoke China now, especially at a point when the Russo-Ukrainian war has polarized the globe. And this time, the US administration is solely to blame. There was no provocation from China. It was the US which started all this drama by sending Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. China is in a situation similar to Russia. Gradually they are being surrounded by American bases in RoK, Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines. And when they tried to establish a naval base in the Solomon Islands, the Americans went ballistic and sabotaged that plan by threatening the Solomon Islands regime.

I don't know whether Trump would have done any better. But his term (2017-2020) was devoid of American involvement to major global conflicts. Biden came to power in 2021 and all the drama started once again.

Just a short question: how does sending Nancy Pelosi to democratic Taiwan represent a provocation? Where do we democracies end up when dictatorships can tell us where to go and where not?

Let's see how many faces there will be on the pictures from China and Russia for a time span of 30 or 40 years. The US citizens can vote. Taiwan citizens can vote.

In terms of mental capacity, I would rate both of them at the same level. One is suffering from dementia while the other is mentally unstable. I would prefer someone fresh from both the camps, although it is not solely due to the age of these two.

Well Trump has a very high financial education, that is obvious, it has been clearly demonstrated in his books, I have read them and they are really good, they are at the level of Warren Buffet, even at the level of the big investors and epseculators of the market, the only advantage that I see for Trump is that he is not a politician by training, he is a politician who has made himself thanks to his own experience, and that can be very good, but it can be a double-edged sword, so maybe American citizens want to have a president other than Trump because of how radical he is.

trump is the type of person who wants to make america great in economic terms, he prefers sanctioning a country than invading the country, but also because he always makes those threatening statements that many countries feared him, that's because you never really knew if he gave I wouldn't press a button overnight and send a missile to another country, but in this situation with the war in Ukraine, the USA, which already hates the Russians, cannot lose in this war, so electing Trump would be a defeat for the USA, that's why I highly doubt that trump will be able to win the elections, of course if he condemns russia for the invasion in his speeches and declares support for ukraine, not persecuting immigrants he may have a chance of winning if he runs against biden

Things continue to heat up politically as we approach 2024, people.
Today was the last day of the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). And it seems some of the potential Republican politicians who could run for the presidency have opted not to attend to this important event.

DeSantis continues with with evasion tactic and so does Mike Pence, it seems.  I was watching some political polls and news on this matter and Mr.Trump continues to grow stronger as a potential Republican nominee. This may continue to get messy this year, specially if DeSantis announces his running for the charge.

DeSantis will get out the game if continues this way and only evades confrontation, I have got the impression the Republican base does not want a coward but rather a strong candidate to go against Joe.

   Im not a fan of any of these guys but I think any prosecution against Trump would only be biased and appear malicious and interfering with democracy which makes it a completely ironic and self defeating attempt at justice.  They tried him twice as President and it didn't pass just like the attempt on Clinton in the 90's was mostly fuss with no real gain possible.
  People and the mainstream are almost completely separate to the undercurrents of politics which is probably a good thing, I'll wait for the crowd to weigh in but at present the precedent is with any serving president to continue.

There is no doubts Trump will beat everyone on the republican party who attempts to run for presidency. He has money, influence and the largest base of followers among every potential candidates, including the called conservative politicians from another nations.

Right, I had forgot for a moment about that 30% DeSantis somehow managed to accumulate on the Republican base. So I stand corrected, it seems he is already visiting other states, like California, so he can make his personal base grow. Let us see how that works.

I am not sure how the election of the speaker could influence the choice of DeSantis not to go straight against Trump, beyond some fear of the Floridian governor to spark a civil war within the party. He may try first to appear more appealing, before formally announce his run, which seems to be his current plan...

I watched a documentary on Kamala Harris and I truly think that she would make a better president than Biden, but I do not think the US are ready for a female president.  

I would like to see a clash between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence for the next presidential election.... and Trump should go back to celebrity TV shows, where he is better equip to blow his own horn.

Kamala is too far to the left, to attract the votes from moderates. It is rare for someone from either of the extreme fringes of the political spectrum to get elected as the POTUS. Trump was an exception, and his chances in 2016 were boosted when Sanders supporters stayed at home. Hilary was also considered as someone on extreme-left. But that didn't worked out in 2020, when a "moderate" Biden defeated Trump by a handsome margin. If Kamala is up against DeSantis, then she has less than 10% chance of winning the election. And regarding Pence, I don't think that he is in the picture.

People said the same thing when Obama was elected.

You never know what can happen at election time, some people don't say what they're thinking, and they just talk by voting. Hard to predict those people, but with deep learning tools and social media, it's getting easier to estimate those things, and even push people to whatever side the person paying money to the tech wants.

At this point, both the major parties don't have a female candidate who is qualified enough to run for the POTUS elections in 2024. Those on the Democrat side such as Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar are too far to the left to be elected. And Republicans don't have anyone from their side. I can think about Ivanka Trump and Nikki Haley, but these two would struggle to garner support from their own party. In all probability, both the Republican and Democrat nominee for the 2024 elections would be male (and in case of Democrats, it is 99% confirmed that Biden will be re-running).
