It isn't really matter of public what they think, even if he would be guilty in one of the 37 felony counts Trump got would technically get jail time. I am not certain if he would do the time in reality, but if he is, he is going to have to campaign from prison. These are federal charges and seriousness of these charges are totally on a different level then other charges trump has faced.

No lawyer even wants to represent him as they know it's not a winning case, but total nightmare. I would say that it would be easy money to bet on democrats if republicans can't get their act together.

It is possible. The SCOTUS has a conservative majority as of now. Trump managed to get three of his nominees to the SCOTUS - Neil M. Gorsuch, Brett M. Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, while Biden has so far managed just one (Ketanji Brown Jackson). And now it is going to be even more difficult for Biden, given the fact that he doesn't have a majority in United States House of Representatives. So finally if the lawsuit against Trump ends up in the SCOTUS, then there is a chance that it will not have an impact on his candidacy.

Whatever the most dumb thing to do, he will do that. If you ever wonder "what would Trump do in this situation", always ask yourself "what would be the most stupid thing to do" and whatever the answer is to that one, is the answer to the first one. I think it's quite important to realize that there is nothing wrong with having any type of trouble in the end, it is not going to be a big deal because in the end Trump will be eligible to run.

It would be very very tough to make him not run, there are very specific crimes that would make him not run, and he is not getting that. And the second he gets elected, he will pardon himself and all the people around him and make himself look clean. Obviously even if he wins a second term, after that he will be in jail, if he loses, he will be in jail directly.

Interesting thing though: Nixons Vice President, Spirrow Agnew, was even more corrupt than Nixon and was indicted on a bunch of charges for taking bribes while in office (he had a very loyal base, called it a witch hunt, vowed to save the country from the corrupt DOJ prosecutors, etc...) .  But the DOJ knew Nixon was likely going down soon and were worried about what would happen if a corrupt politician became president while in jail/on trial or awaiting sentencing, so they offered him a deal: Resign as Vice President and all charges dropped.  He took it.

The best is for him to nominate someone in his place and that will give him say over the leadership if his candidate emerge the winner at large, another option he have is to join and team up with one of his opponents, just to ensure that they secure the presidential seat for themselves.

Civil unrest (in a bad sense) is characteristic of the other side of the confrontation  I'm sure they will happen if Trump runs and wins. But judging by how Trump is accused of all mortal sins, the "system" will do everything to prevent the voter from even being able to vote for his favorite. Unfortunately, the Republicans do not have a figure comparable to Trump in terms of scale, and without him they are likely to lose.

I think that with such precedent, then there is a small chance the Department of Justice could offer Trump a deal to drop most of the charges in exchange of him quitting all his political ambitions, though, I am not sure how that would work because it could end up being counter-productive for their country. The Trump base has that narrative that this prosecution is mostly because political reasons: election interference; and offering such a deal could fit perfectly into that narrative, further eroding the trust people have on American democracy.

It would also take the state of New York and the State or Georgia to fully accept to drop their investigations, which could not happen, because as far as I understand the States are supposed to have certain degree on autonomous governance, independent from the federal justice.

The follow on from that was Gerald Ford became Vice President (appointed) through the line of succession.  Then, when Nixon resigned became President thus becoming the only President of the United States to be elevated to that position unelected.

politics is a place where what speaks louder are the interests of the majority of the party members, so far a great battle is being waged within the party, but as time goes by and the elections approach and the members of the party realize that Trump is the most popular guy in the party to the point of being the candidate who can compete with biden then the party will already have the majority of members defending Trump on all fronts, whether on a legal level or on the senate level even if they realized that trump lied

they will still support trump in everything as long as he is someone more popular, because the party is not interested in someone with good morals, someone honest, or someone psychologically stable, what matters to the party is having power, and to reach to power they need to have the most popular candidate capable of competing with biden, by that I mean that trump will only be ineligible and discarded the moment he is not popular, as long as he is not a person who does not have many supporters and trump knows Furthermore, he takes advantage of these accusations to draw more attention

It is possible. If Trump is not allowed to run, many of his supporters will just stay at home and boycott the elections even if he ask them to vote for someone else. It will get complicated as well. Because Trump's support alone will not work. That particular candidate need to participate in the GOP primaries and then win the nomination as well. Else he/she needs to run as an independent, which will drain votes from the right-wing and make it relatively easy for Joe Biden (or any other Democrat nominee) to win the elections.

Actually, both Mike Pence and Joe Biden discovered they had classified documents in their homes which they alleged did not know about. The difference between them and the case of Trump was the way Mike and Joe reacted to the discovery of those documents in their homes.

Joe and Mike quickly informed their lawyers and allow authorities to search their properties for more classified information, on the other hand, Trump seems to have tried to avoid giving them back and even got one if his lawyers to lie to the FBI and the national archaics about his having them.

The most surreal thing about that specific situation is the fact it seems one of his lawyers actually signed a document for the FBI declaring under perjury and all the documents in the property had been returned, which was false.

I'm surprised with the news you watched for it's very much different from what the usual people had seen today. But I doubt Trump will nominate Ivanka or Erik, if he becomes ineligible, it stops there. They'd already seen how dirty politics is compared to business where the Trumps are more familiar with such stage. I think only Donald has the grit t pursue it.
