1061  Economy / Economics / Re: The unfortunate event that is Quarantine. on: May 15, 2020, 11:38:02 AM
What more for those who are jobless and homeless? They are more struggling than anyone else. And I think in this situation, the government needs to step up and do its job. This COVID really shows the difference between the upper and lower classes. Rich people can easily say that we should stay at home but for those who are less fortunate, they can't stay at home because they need to think about tomorrow.

However, quarantine may not be the solution but it's the best we can do right now while there is still no solution yet. Yes, everyone is struggling but if we just cooperate and follow the protocols given by the authorities, we can prevent getting affected. This virus has affected a lot of people, and even the economy. What I think is that the government's way of handling the pandemic is really important. We can look at other countries, they can handle the virus very well while others are struggling. Sadly, our country is not that good at handling the cases. And now, we also have another problem we are facing. We are being affected by a typhoon and it's harder for those poor people. Let's just hope that this pandemic will end already and that we can rise again.
1062  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Pilipinas Coronavirus/COVID-19 Thread on: May 15, 2020, 08:54:06 AM

1063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel this pressure on physical gambling? on: May 15, 2020, 06:32:22 AM
In physical gambling (whether it's a big casino or just small gambling), do pressure on your opponents or playmates actually happen? Like for example, you only set a limited capital but since your friends still want to play, you will end up using all of your money.

It does happen and I have experience it personally, the capital example was a perfect one because from my findings that's the most trick they use to convince you. They make you think that by not continue paying, you're chickening out. But in online gambling there's no one to presume you into gambling if you exceeded your gambling limit for that particular game or day.

Just like what others say, maybe it's best not to let what other people would say, pressure you. I think it's also like a psychological game when you let them dictate whether you will continue playing or not, it means they're winning over you since they are manipulating you. It's good for you if can handle this kind of pressure very well. But since I haven't experienced it yet, maybe it would be nerve-wracking.

Of course, online gambling is different. You're familiar with the environment and no one would judge you if you want to stop gambling for that day.

For me yes especially when im an introverted type of person, playing with no crowd and interaction with playmates make me calm my mind. I guess for some it's a boost for them and improve their skill. But not for me, this is why i prefer playing online than going to physical casino's.

I'm kinda an introvert type of person as well. I have never been nor tried playing in a big casino since I don't think you can fit and get used to that environment. I would rather play lowkey online. But it would also be a great experience to play in a real casino.

1064  Local / Pamilihan / Re: FREE PREMIUM GAMES and FREE Training this ECQ on: May 15, 2020, 04:17:08 AM
1065  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did Covid-19 affect crypto gambling? on: May 14, 2020, 03:11:33 PM
Gambling may be expensive leisure but we have different financial statuses. Obviously, for those who struggle and have lesser income, there would be a negative effect of COVID on their gambling. But for those who are fortunate, they are still capable of gambling even with COVID so they don't have to worry financially.

Personally, I can still afford to buy my needs and still have a little budget for extra entertainment but thinking wisely, I will prefer not to gamble.  I want to use this extra money practically or save this in case of an extended lockdown or emergency. I'm thinking of only going back to gambling if everything started going back to normal. So to answer your question, yes, it made me stop gambling for a while since I have my priorities I need to think first than gambling.
1066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Treasure Hunting in an Album on: May 14, 2020, 11:36:48 AM
Logic Beach, an instrumental, non-verbal techie sounding music group release a new album with a little treasure hunting game as they hid bitcoin in the album.
Herman Felker, the person behind Logic Beach posted on Reddit that he had hidden the seed to a wallet inside his latest album. The amount of bitcoin hidden was 0.03 (+0.02) BTC. He also added that,
Quote
"'Bifurcations' by Logic Beach is a Lo-Fi, Synth-Glitch, experimental project I've put together to celebrate the halving and to have a bit of fun. You will need the Lossless versions of the songs to solve this thing. (download the .wav files)."

He also noted that the sales of his album will be added to the prize, although users can still access the album for free on a site called Bandcamp. According to Felker, the puzzle isn't that difficult, and he's not expecting that this treasure hunting will last that long. He also wanted the winner can share his method on Reddit but if he chooses to be anonymous, that's also fine for him.

Quote
At press time, the album's wallet address, bc1qj7467e7r5pdfpypm03wyvguupdrld0ul2gcutg, still holds the BTC prize. "If no one solves it by May 21, I'll take it down and explain the solution," Felker said in the Reddit post.

Is not this exciting especially for people who love treasure hunting and deciphering codes? In love the idea of how he puts his 12 seed phrase secretly in his latest album and asking people to solve it. What can you say about this?

I may not be a fan and good at this challenge, but it's interesting and this can be also a good pass time while we are on quarantine. I checked his YouTube account, and you can check his album there. And to be honest, I'm not the type of person who likes that kind of music (but I'm not saying it's not good). And what I think, musically inclined people can find the answer to his wallet. If you're interested, you can also check his album

1068  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel this pressure on physical gambling? on: May 14, 2020, 04:03:21 AM
~snip
I haven't experienced it yet in online gambling. Maybe that's the reason why I prefer and contented with gambling online than interacting with people on physical casinos.

The feeling is natural especially when you are losing, and your competitor has their friends close to laugh at you when you quit.
I think that's more difficult to handle when there's people who would laugh when you decided to quit whether you are winning or losing.

~snip
But that's one of the purposes why we gamble right? To earn money. And I think it's better than quitting because you have lost all of your money. At least, you can go home with more money.

~snip
I guess you are good at handling pressure. Sometimes I like being pressured but not with gambling I guess. I feel like I won't be able to think properly. Especially when you are playing with people you don't really know.

Thank you!
1070  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Project Covid-19 Signature Campaign (Pilipinas Local Version) on: May 13, 2020, 02:58:37 PM

I will now wear the personal text of this project! and salute to you kabayan sa simpleng pagtulong mo may blessing na babalik sayo!
1071  Economy / Gambling discussion / Do you feel this pressure on physical gambling? on: May 13, 2020, 02:01:57 PM
In physical gambling (whether it's a big casino or just small gambling), do pressure on your opponents or playmates actually happen? Like for example, you only set a limited capital but since your friends still want to play, you will end up using all of your money. Or let's say in a casino, you have used all of your allotted money on gambling but since your opponent is winning and he wants to play more, do you exceed on your limit? Just because you don't want to look like you are afraid, that you don't have enough money already, and that you are losing?

Since I do online gambling, I don't feel this kind of pressure. I can stop whenever I want or when I have used all of my money. I don't feel embarrassed or what.

1072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Betting this June? on: May 13, 2020, 12:18:54 PM
There's nothing wrong and it's good that sports events are slowly resuming again. But of course, strict regulations would be implemented in this event since we are not sure how long this virus will take. Probably even in June, there's still no vaccine yet. So it's better to not allow fans to watch the boxing game live to prevent creating a crowd.

Before doing the event, I bet they have already made a plan to protect everyone and secure their safety. Just like us, they also need to make a living (although they already have so much money). Personally, I see nothing wrong about making this event, as long as they can implement restrictions. Hoping that they won't allow live fans, they could just make it available online or on TV. I believe it's not only them who wants to play again, even other athletes as well.
1073  Economy / Economics / Re: The Coronavirus as A Means of Financial Reset on: May 13, 2020, 07:40:13 AM
There's really a possibility that the virus started at a lab. I have read somewhere before that it actually started at Wuhan lab, not at the market where they sell bats and other animals. And that they don't want to investigate further the origin of the virus. But unlike you, I don't think this would also benefit Western. Cause what I can see is that, it's China who will benefit from it. The epicenter of the virus, changed and that China is flattening the curve. You see, while almost all countries are busy battling with the virus, China can make their own movement.

I just don't see that Western will benefit from it since they are greatly affected by the virus. This is affecting its economy badly. And I don't see it's their way to remove all the debts. The more cases will occur in the Western, the harder for them to get back what the economy has lost during the lockdown. It's much harder to believe that China was able to stabilize the spread of the virus in their country only after spreading it across the world.

Well, I don't really know much. And I don't have enough proof to support this, but if this speculation is real, then it's China who's benefitting the most.
1074  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: May 13, 2020, 07:06:22 AM

1075  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: May 12, 2020, 05:00:39 PM

Update:

1076  Economy / Economics / Re: How can a small shop survive in Manhattan,NY with a rent of 5k per month ? on: May 12, 2020, 02:56:13 PM
Starting a business requires a good location. A place with expensive rent means that the location is good enough for a business. Do you think shop owners would agree to pay expensive rent if they are not earning enough?

I may not be familiar with the place and the shops in that place, but maybe there's quite a lot of various shops there where people love to go shopping.  They won't stay there if they are not earning there. It only means that their revenues can handle all of their expenses (rent, utilities, and salaries). And that's how business works. The more people go to that place, the higher its demand for business renting. So, of course, the owner can increase the price of renting there.

I don't think I need to do math or any computations but that's how it works. Even in malls, rent expense there is expensive because it's a good place where people go to spend their money. Same thing for this place.
1077  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Be a professional gambler on your own way. on: May 12, 2020, 08:56:29 AM
I have no plan of becoming a professional gambler since I only gamble for entertainment. But for me in gambling, you also need acceptance. Yes, you got the skills, plan, and luck, but if you don't know how to accept losses, your emotions will be a big hindrance to it. Acceptance that not every time you can win. Even professional gamblers experience losing. And that's part of gambling, so if you don't accept losing, you can't be successful in gambling.

I think to be a professional gambler, it requires a good and smart mindset especially when they are in the game. And not everyone can achieve that since there's a lot of gamblers who can't separate and control their emotions. That's why I don't want to be addicted to gambling because I don't think I can handle my own emotion very well.

1079  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Strategies to Face the Next Crisis on: May 12, 2020, 06:19:04 AM
Well not everyone is capable of investing since in the very first place, they don't have enough capital to make an investment. Poor people are more vulnerable to be greatly affected by this sudden crisis because they are not prepared. Although it's still hard for them to save money for emergencies, I think saving is still more possible for them than investing.

But for those who are capable, I think this situation is a great lesson for everyone. Saving money is very important. It's having something to withdraw or to get in your pocket in times of crisis. I think some people finally realized this thing. We can't always depend on others' help.

What you have mentioned are for middle and upper classes but for those who are unfortunate, they don't even have enough money to budget everything for their daily expenses.
1080  Economy / Economics / Re: Epidemic to Pandemic to Diaster-Cycle on: May 11, 2020, 01:15:47 PM
In my country, we just reached 11 thousand confirmed cases as of this day. We have been in the lockdown for almost 2 months already and there's still a possibility that this lockdown will be extended again. We are also a developing country and businesses and workers had to stop functioning for two months already, yet I can still see that our cases are still increasing day by day. And it might take a little longer before we can stabilize the spread of the virus.

This situation is worsening because people don't have enough money to feed their own families during this lockdown. They have no work, no sources of income, and they are only depending on the government's help. I hope this situation will make the government realize that they should also give attention to research and development, as well as the health care system. Because pandemic does not give warning before affecting millions of people.

Actually, it's not only the third world countries that are suffering because of this pandemic, even developed country such as the U.S. is also struggling to battle with the virus. Let's just hope that this pandemic will cease and everything will be back to normal again.
