141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you rely on the odds when placing bets? on: December 18, 2020, 05:10:20 PM
For me the research should come first and I only research my favorite game where I think I can see the value at the same time, odds that are displayed are nothing if you are not studying the game because you won't see which odds has the best value.
Indeed, I prefer to research first before everything else, for me to be sure if I can win in that certain game or not, if I am new to a game and not familiar in all of its environment I need to see others review first, and after that, that is the time that I will see the odds, but I am not saying that odds are not helpful, it is really helpful for us, it is just that we are different in the way we play and the way we think.
I don't think research would be the biggest factor to consider in gambling. Things do happen more often thru luck and factual basis won't really do that much especially if you are not lucky that day. I do get it, one should have an insight about something to know the odds as well as advantages and disadvantages, aiming to get the win. But we are all familiar with how this luck occurs in gambling. Perhaps you have a favorite team in sportsbetting but for some reason, the opposing team managed to get the win. Despite of the odds, there are just times wherein these things are not becoming a factor, and most of the time, since we are talking about gambling, luck is the main player on every outcome. Super teams do lost sometimes and that I think is an enough reason. When it comes to other gambling games, strategies would work but will only cover the majority of percentage in order to win, not totally the game itself.
Luck is a big factor in casino and/or sports betting but I would agree that it would be better to have research first before taking a bet. Yes, there are instances that unexpected results happen despite the odds but for me, it won't hurt to do a little research. Although doing research does not guarantee you to win in sports betting, it's still good to have one just like what he said, especially if you are new to the game.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about DeFi? on: December 18, 2020, 04:29:41 PM
DeFi investment is another opportunity to make fast ROI just like ICO in 2017,
It may propose a lucrative investment opportunity, but it comprises a substantial risk. It definitely recalls the past incidents with ICO’s. The similarities can be abundantly observed with the current situation of Defi projects.

most investors don't care if they lose their money or not, even some scam projects like YFI clones still receives many funds from investors till date, people just like taking risks
It is a typical mistake of investors, recklessly investing their funds with a thought of good market performance from a project that is developed by an anonymous and fake team. A project that imitates the whitepaper and website content of other projects. And eventually, complaining and blaming it when they don’t really search about it at first. They just follow the trend without analyzing the current market condition. Investors should be careful in taking risks, not all anything risky will result in a high benefit. They should learn the difference between taking risks to earn and directly offering their money to scammers.

~snip~
There are cases like that but I think the majority of the crimes are not related to gambling so even if the government focuses on gambling addiction, there would still be a lot of crimes that are actually bigger than gambling-related crimes happening around them. Also, not all who commits crime uses their money for gambling or any other vices. But for those who do such terrible things for gambling, that's already a result of addiction.
Indeed. But still, perhaps, the government needs to focus on gambling addiction and build a rehabilitation center for the addicted person to gambling. At the same time, the government needs to focus and to try to handle the crimes too. Some people use the money from committing crimes for gambling, but we don't know how many of them. It really needs hard work from the government to control the crime of growth rate.
I feel like this is a hard task for the government since they cannot control every action of gamblers. Once a gambler becomes addicted to it, they can commit a crime to satisfy their addiction. Also, gamblers would not admit they are already addicted to it and would not want to be rehabilitated. I don't know if this kind of thing really works but maybe, they can start by organizing something that would educate people of different ages about gambling and addiction.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Gamblers! What is your excuse to avoid a game with 0% House Edge? on: December 18, 2020, 01:41:58 PM
With all the comments here on this thread, and checking again the site. The owner haven't managed to improve their site yet. So I don't think they can attract players here even if their house edge offering is legit. Sometimes people are not after for the low house edge of the casino but the entertainment they can get from the game. And with their game, don't think that it is enjoyable in the long run.

Building these kinds of sites would be really hard.

Having a 0% house-edge is amazing and all but it is just there standing at one foot and can't do anything. It is better if they could maybe make the games more entertaining and inviting and as you've said, maybe develop and improve more their site. Maybe they could add more games and not just the game that they have right now.
Nowadays, there are already a lot of gambling sites and it would really be hard to attract customers unless you are good at advertising your business. Even if they have a 0% house edge, most online gamblers would still probably choose to play on the sites they know. I would agree with you that improving the games, or adding more games would be nice to attract more players but if you don't know how to promote your site well, you would still get less to no customers.
145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Groups in Telegram on: December 18, 2020, 10:26:09 AM
It is a hard to find a legit channel/group on telegram at the moment without having someone mostly a beautiful girl sending you a message to invest in their company. Are there still legit channels in telegram? This drove me to seek other sources and I found you Bitcointalk forum. I love the measures put in place to ensure order in the community. I stand for a safer and healthy bitcoin community!
It is obvious they purposely display an image of a woman to attract and encourage you to invest. However, mostly with such photographs, they just stole and used it to present as a member of their company. Thus, it is certainly better to stay in the forum because there’s plenty of discussion of a variety of issues. Besides that, you can interact and share any perception. As they pointed out, you should ignore messages, especially those associated with high-return investments, and report them.

Yeah and not just because they are gaining revenue but also what is the effect for those gamblers that has no self control.
When many people get addicted to gambling, that will become a serious matter to the government because it can trigger another problem. The level of crime can also increase, so the government should think much about that.
There are cases like that but I think the majority of the crimes are not related to gambling so even if the government focuses on gambling addiction, there would still be a lot of crimes that are actually bigger than gambling-related crimes happening around them. 147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of fake Telegram groups on: December 17, 2020, 03:21:09 PM
I saw many giving testimonies of having received the claimed giveaway offers which I am sure it's a game from their co-scammers. An innocent individual might fall for it.
It is a conventional tactic that was implemented in fraudulent applications and websites to entice the interest of people to participate. They disseminate falsity of the information, hoping that they could make-believe and fleece people with the use of such bait. Anyone could be the potential victim; thus, it should be reported immediately. With the Christmas season approaching, there could be any other fraudulent activities that may exist not only in telegram but on different platforms. Hence, we should learn to analyze the difference between a real testimony and white lies. Usually, in such circumstances, they share insufficient details, yet you will see those testimonies as if they are the creator of the giveaway.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hello in which coins are you invested in and which ICO´s do you prefer ? on: December 17, 2020, 02:09:23 PM
Actually, most of my funds are allocated in Bitcoin and Ethereum then the rest are in other cryptocurrencies. TBH, I always prioritize Bitcoin for my investment and I already sold some of it. Investing in any new projects right now is totally risky since, after the emerging of the Defi, the number of scam projects also increase. And speaking of good coins for 2021, I guess I'm gonna stick with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance or might invest in other potential projects. Also, if you're still going to invest in the ICO project that you have mentioned, don't forget to do prior research about them so you can determine if that is worth it to invest.
149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blocked funds in a poker room on: December 17, 2020, 01:11:07 PM
What platform or website do you use, at least just to make sure you are using a trusted platform here. Besides, it doesn't make sense if they are only willing to refund you that much, because it's not even half of your bankroll. I am sure if you use the exact and trusted crypto gambling website here, maybe the problem will be resolved without such deductions, there is no good reason for them to cut your money.
The gambling site was Bodog and the money they're offering was based on his overall deposit which is what most casinos would do including the crypto casinos when they caught gamblers breaking their rules. He mentioned that he did withdraw some of his money before this all happened and that explains why they're only giving back $9k instead of the whole $14k.

At least they are returning all his deposits. However, he will lose a huge amount of winning. OP must have missed something on their TOS, but the gambling site's support/admin is somehow off by not explaining details why his account is frozen and or what rule or what are they referring to by the term "inconsistencies".
I agree with you. OP might have done something wrong or violated the casino's TOS that's why this happened to his account. However, I think it would be better for the site to answer complaints and inquiries of their customers, like what op has. They should make it clear about the problem or the issue so that it won't take so much time or almost a month to settle the problem.
150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin BREAKS $20,000! - Binance on: December 16, 2020, 05:03:22 PM
I was not really expecting that it would reach $20k before the year ends, but this is definitely great news to end the year with a lot of negativity. This is another achievement to be recorded in the history of bitcoin. But as for reaching $30k next year, it's still hard to say that, but let's hope that 2021 will be a good year for us as well, and I'm looking forward to it.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Black - Legit or not ? on: December 16, 2020, 03:16:46 PM
Take time to process the decision, find any further details, and check the particular aspect of the project. The doubt is understandable as the official website of Bitcoin Black contains inadequate information. Therefore, you should assess the reviews and opinions of other people. Also, you can check these threads as it can possibly help you decide a better decision.

152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mainstream news media's new portrayal on bitcoin hehehe on: December 16, 2020, 02:36:04 PM
Well that was misleading, Was about to talk trash about how these peoples minds are full of air if they ever did start talking about Bitcoin as racist and discriminatory. This is an issue about Coinbase and their management itself, not Bitcoin.

The closest I could find in the article that has any connection with Crypto, other than Coinbase being an exchange was the line made by Mr. Armstrong, about leaving the issues of company management and instead focus on the goal of Coinbase, profit, and advancement of cryptocurrencies. Heck, this shouldn't even be on the crypto news since the article itself started with racism and discrimination being active on the technology world, now I don't really know if it's true or not but that should really be the focus and coinbase.
The title is pretty overstated as the news emphasis the inappropriate system of Coinbase. It is clearly unassociated with cryptocurrency, particularly with bitcoin. Nonetheless, it is an issue a month ago, which Coinbase has foreseen. They informed their employees of the upcoming news linked to their company, which was published the day after. It implies that those words can’t be attached to a cryptocurrency. Besides being a digital currency, it does not oppose itself from any racial groups.

154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cambodia enacts new laws related to gambling. on: December 15, 2020, 04:00:24 PM
What are your thoughts on this ?
Should such actions be taken by other countries too ? What's stopping them though?

A big applause for the Cambodian Government giving a fair gambling site to its people. If the probably "fair" is really a fair one, then it is a good step on solving gambling addiction that leads to poverty of certain individuals. They don't also ask for too big tax on the casino to balance it, it's a give and take for both parties.

Other countries (especially the third world ones) should also implement such thing to solve poverty slowly as well. But I think they are torn on making decisions, since asking big taxes to casinos would benefit the whole country than favoring to those gambling addicts that don't have anything to do than gambling.
I don't know to relate gambling addiction to poverty since there are also cases where those who are struggling financially are the ones who get more addicted to gambling. So giving a fairer regulation towards gamblers in the gambling industry does not necessarily mean solving poverty especially in third world countries.

But even if the government lowers the tax rate, they will still benefit since it will attract more gamblers where they can still collect more. So it's still a win-win situation for them.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increasing Bitcoin Ads : Mass adoption ongoing on: December 15, 2020, 02:47:30 PM
This is great because it will allow other people or passersby to be aware of bitcoin through ads like this in public places. Of course, companies have an advantage with this but this is a good one for overall mass adoption. The more we saw bitcoin-related ads in different places, it means that more people are adopting it and the public can also recognize bitcoin. But I do wish to personally see something like this in my country as well.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adult companies and bitcoin? on: December 15, 2020, 02:10:29 PM
With that issue with VISA and MasterCard, Bitcoin can also be a good alternative payment method in pornhub. And since we are seeing news about giant companies adopting bitcoin, then there is a higher possibility that other porn sites and companies in this industry will also adopt bitcoin. The good thing that will happen once we saw more companies accepting bitcoin payments is that it will help bitcoin to get more recognized for mass adoption.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is investing in crypto a good idea? on: December 15, 2020, 09:08:34 AM
Investing in modern hot defi projects is good idea. Investing in old ghost chains like LTC, XRP, ETC - probably not
Take a look at https://peanut.trade/ it is gonna disrupt the whole DeFi industry soon
When large buy/sell orders are placed, the Peanut pool automatically and simultaneously makes a corresponding trade on two levels i.e. on other DEXs and CEXs. After trading operations are completed, Peanut performs clearing for earned income. Cool is not it?? Shocked
In fact, not all Defi projects are worth it to invest and we all know that there are already scam Defi projects popping around. And, it seems like you are promoting the peanut trade and I also wonder if this project really has a good effect on the Defi industry. TBH, I would prefer to risk my money on the altcoins that you mentioned than putting it in the peanut trade that you think will bring a good income.
158  Economy / Economics / Re: which will u choose to buy on: December 15, 2020, 06:50:52 AM
If I were to choose, I will diversify my portfolio for great potential for profit. The value of high-branded and luxury cars decreases eventually. Besides, you can have a good quality for a cheaper price. Also, don’t you think that if a certain part of a car has been destroyed, the cost for it is also higher? So, I rather choose to invest than buying a car that has a similar feature to any other car. Moreover, you can buy it whenever you finally earned enough from your investment.
159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be very careful with every steps you take on: December 14, 2020, 05:45:45 PM
As Google continuously acquire financial gain for every advertisement, they will maintain the implementation of search engine marketing. Apparently, it generates an innovative idea for defrauders to commit fraudulent conduct. With Google being an accessible website, there is a greater chance that a large number of individuals will be fooled by these phishing websites. Thus, we can’t trust and believe anything we see on the internet. The top result on the page does not mean it is the particular site that you are looking for. Regardless, good work OP. Let's hope that people will take note of it.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will never replace fiat cash. on: December 14, 2020, 03:29:58 PM
I have already seen similar threads and you will see similar responses that bitcoin was not made to replace fiat in the first place. Bitcoin is still not widely accepted or known by the majority so it's far from reaching that point. And we all know that people will still choose fiat so I never really see bitcoin as something that will replace fiat. Bitcoin is a good alternative for us that solves our problems with fiat and centralized authorities.
