1401  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buying Property With Crypto (Bitcoin) on: April 19, 2022, 01:21:27 PM
Im mainly looking to buy in Asia, Thailand, and Vietnam region.
It looks like you have to cross them both off your list:

Can I buy directly with a Bitcoin transaction or would this need to be converted into FIAT at some point?
If you also include the intermediaries and government agencies, then I don't think you can "directly" pay everything with BTCitcoin, but if you ever decide to do such a thing, make sure to have a lawyer who knows the rules for both sides!
1402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Amazingly Moronic Bitsneaks on: April 18, 2022, 07:02:36 PM
outdated phone 3G to sync the data on to the display,
Not sure if all of the blog posts that I've just read were inaccurate or not, but on their "website", they've labeled it with a signal strength of LTE.

a full node and an "extremely slow mining rig" (a screen shot displays 2.769MH/s, being the dot a decimal separator). This latter comes in the shoebox (it didn't fit on the trainer I guess).
The only thing that's missing from this ridiculous product or rather huge shoebox is a mini lightning ATM Cheesy

The important question is, in 5, 10 or 20 years when you consider selling them will you
at least get your money back?
Unlike other collectible items in the community, I don't think this one is going to remain a rare product for a very long time [unfortunately]!

Btw, found a "similar[ish] product [since 2019 but not yet released]" without the BTCitcoin-related stuff.
1403  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Isa kaba sa my mga bitcoin or any crypto noon? on: April 18, 2022, 12:39:58 PM
"Isa kaba sa my mga bitcoin or any crypto noon? "
I mined a few noong 2011 pero pagka lipas ng ilang months, nasira yung GPU ko at since estudyante pa ako nun, kaunti lang ang pera ko kaya imbis na bumili ako ng panibagong GPU, binenta ko nalang ang desktop ko kapalit ang isang laptop without backing up my wallet [kaunti lang ang knowledge ko noon at ginamit ko lang ito sa mga gaming-related stuff]!
1404  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tonik Digital Bank planning to integrate crypto services sa app nila! on: April 17, 2022, 02:27:55 PM
At yes, meron sa ibang bansa specifically Singapore, Kyiv, at sa Chennai. So basically, sa iilang countries pa lang siya available.
Sigurado ka ba? AFAIK, they're being "operated out of hubs" doon sa nabangit mong bansa at mga cities [check this fun fact]... AFAICS, "iisa lang ang app nila" at based on the following link, Filipino users lang ang pwedeng mag register: Who can register as a Tonik user?
1405  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Alibaba's fake ico website alicoin.. on: April 17, 2022, 11:59:47 AM
And finally, scammers have created fake websites using Alibaba's name. Alibaba Group has no connection with this Alicoin, it is a completely fake website. This website is designed to easily scam people using the name of a very popular group.
In addition to their fake "$ALI Pre-Sale", they've also released a fake "$BABA Pre-Sale on stoken.store [archived]"!
- Even though the "end date has already passed", their fake counter is showing there's still "13 days left"!

1406  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor mailing list breached on: April 17, 2022, 10:14:51 AM
This "other data" is the worrying part. That could also mean addresses or phone numbers.
Exactly and I just found out because of the shipping companies that they're using, they "can't deliver to P.O. boxes"!

Trezor stated they won't be using MailChimp any longer. However, not much will change. Read this:
Quote
We will begin migrating to a new mailing platform once we have thoroughly assessed other options for compliance and data security.
As a Trezor user, I'm quite disappointed by the fact that they're still trying to do the same thing [SMH]... Am I the only one who thinks they're quickly becoming Ledger 2.0?
1407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to locate a nearby Bitcoin ATM (A step-by-step guide) on: April 16, 2022, 01:46:42 PM
3. Get your Bitcoin wallet ready:

This is the third step because for you to be able to buy Bitcoin successfully, you need a wallet where your Bitcoin will be stored.
AFAIK, most BTMs come with a feature to generate and print out a paper wallet for you, so in most cases, you don't even need to have/bring your BTCitcoin wallet with you Wink

4. Enter your wallet address:
In addition to manually typing the alphanumeric characters and the generated paper wallet, usually, there's also a way to scan QR codes.

Step 1:   Go to the website coinatmradar.com
It's worth noting that at the bottom of this page, they've also listed the links to their apps.

Step 2:  Type in the name of your country of residence,
You can narrow it down by city, an address, or just simply click the location/GPS icon.
1408  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Any vulnerabilities in changing OLED screen of Ledger Nano S? on: April 16, 2022, 08:40:48 AM
That is a new twist, but how did he ordered his device in the first place?
As @m2017 mentioned previously, this was not always the case and the same thing applies to "Trezor products" as well, but having said that, none of their official resellers [in PH] seem to be affected by these changes [there must be a way to ship to the PH, but perhaps they don't want to go through the trouble of dealing with certain issues, for just individual orders]!
1409  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Don't panicked if bitcoin illegal in your country. on: April 16, 2022, 07:43:51 AM
A crypto owner which lives in a country with a crypto ban, has to convert his coins which he want to sell into something which is legal to sell, like gold.
The conversion part is actually one of the main problems... How can you be sure that you're not going to walk straight into a trap when you're about to sell it in exchange for gold or something else?
- In other words, it's easier said than done, and I didn't even include the other issues [e.g. tracking possibilities and etc...]!
1410  Other / Archival / Re: MetaMask makes friends with Bitcoin on: April 15, 2022, 07:40:00 PM
I will definitely use it to store my spare Bitcoin as I’m using metamask for all my altcoins for a long time without any problem encountered.  Wink
It's worth noting that it's still not available in the main MetaMask app, so you have to use MetaMask Flask instead [in other words, it could have some bugs]!

They should support hardware wallets though, because they do with Ethereum and other EVM chains.
Ledger at least I know.
And a few more:

Still having doubts about the decentralization issue over Metamask & Infura concerning the recent blocking of wallets among Venezuelan and Iranian users.
If the issue with MM is the fact that they're using "Infura nodes by default", then there's still a way for affected users to use MM by "connecting it to their own node".
1411  Other / New forum software / Re: 2FA - authentication on: April 15, 2022, 03:48:13 PM
there should be added support for any U2F keys like yubikey… or Trezor.
Only if it allows us to register multiple U2F keys or devices... I know a few platforms that have a limit of 1 and if you somehow lose both your device and the backup codes [or the recovery seed for Trezor], then you'd probably lose access "from your side [in other words, more work for the recovery team]"!
- I do know that the recovery options differ slightly based on the type of U2F device that's being used, but still...
1412  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tonik Digital Bank planning to integrate crypto services sa app nila! on: April 15, 2022, 12:47:44 PM

1413  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Any vulnerabilities in changing OLED screen of Ledger Nano S? on: April 15, 2022, 09:44:28 AM
I was expecting Ledger would require me to send back the faulty device in return for a brand new product, but they have instead written me an email stating that they will send me a new one without requiring me to return the faulty one! To be honest, I'm quite surprised!

https://i.imgur.com/wR7ZV59l.png
I'm glad they're no longer requiring their users to return faulty devices [e.g. this case], but the main issue is how are they going to ship it to your location: UNAVAILABLE COUNTRIES
- IIRC, since Q2 of last year, they haven't shipped anything to the PH.
1414  Local / Pilipinas / Re: GCash offering crypto services soon on: April 14, 2022, 07:33:48 PM
Ano pala latest update tungkol dito?
1415  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: April 14, 2022, 06:34:59 PM
but I fail to see how a 2-of-3 multi-sig reliant on Block's servers and requiring some form of account, identification, passwords, etc., is "more complex" than just writing down 12 words on a piece of paper.
There were a couple of parts where she talked about: "What if you die? How do you pass it on to your family?" + they "absolutely have inheritance in mind"...
- This may sound like I'm defending their product design, but the issue with the latter part is if one of my family members, somehow manages to get their hands on my seed phrases, there's still no "easy" way for them to use it and I can easily think of various ways that they could lose it.

Although I will concede that the prototypes look sexy as hell: https://nitter.net/JesseDorogusker/status/1511714178326695939
I have mixed feelings about it [they look nice, but I think it can easily slip through our fingers]!
1416  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S Plus + Shifted Screen on: April 13, 2022, 04:21:00 PM
AFAICS, you're the first one that's reporting that issue on Nano S Plus, but here's a similar issue on the Nano X: part of screen cut off and showing at the top
- The above link "clearly" it's not going to help you, but have you tried to reset it to its factory settings?

Wait until Ledger support service wake up? I have already contact them a week ago and no one is really willing to help.
It appears that one of their representatives has "already responded".

They are telling me that they have no choice othat than shipping it back to ledger for repair!! Which is not really good...
Please don't refer to yourself in the third person!

Do you think that I can simply open it and try to repair it myself???
Judging by all of your previous accounts on Reddit and this forum, I think you're capable of repairing it by yourself but IMO, you should still consider shipping it back to Ledger.
- It could be just a defective screen, but I still don't think it's worth doing something that voids the warranty "at this stage"!
1417  Economy / Services / Re: [WANTED] 📣 Meme creators and YouTube influencers wanted! 🚨 on: April 13, 2022, 01:36:32 PM
We are looking for creative meme creators and YouTube influencers to promote a new project in the crypto world!
🔥 bump 🔥
You can find some of the meme creators from "this thread", but when it comes to hiring YouTubers, most of them aren't active in this forum, so you have to rely on the following lists:

1418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2022 Conference on: April 13, 2022, 12:10:35 PM
~Snipped~
Hope you like those, as they often serve as hints for discovering new resources, speeches, and generally digging deeper into the Butcoin rabbit hole.
Please, give me some feedback on this!
It's way better than the previous interview [IMO, that one was quite short or maybe I just prefer listening to mining-related discussions more than the other fields]... Everything that Jimmy mentioned in the "decentralized peer-to-peer lightning-based apps" part was new information for me [Sphinx seems great, but I'm looking more forward to what Zion can bring to the table].
- Thank you for sharing this interview Smiley
1419  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Paxausdt.com $1,149,390.52 scam alert! on: April 13, 2022, 11:09:48 AM
What is a throwaway number and how does a number come to be a throwaway number?
Basically, it's just free numbers that you can find on the internet, to use for verification purposes without revealing your real number.
Note: Don't use such services for important stuff!

Is there any remedy for this throwaway number thingy?
Yes, just ignore the services that offer such things Smiley

Why would scammers target this sort of numbers?
Because anybody can easily "see/read" those messages; hence it could benefit the scammers [unfortunately]!

Another one that's still active: paxful0 [archived - Creation Date: 2022-04-04]

- receiving Virtual Currency for transmission or transmitting Virtual Currency;

- storing, holding, or maintaining custody or control of Virtual Currency on behalf of others;
So that means any NYC-based escrow provider that wants to legally offer its services, has to pay a "ridiculous fee [apart from other issues]" to obtain that license [SMH]!
