1561  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to BTC price if the US defaults? on: February 17, 2023, 09:31:34 AM
They are not going to default, they will do what they have been doing all this time when the nation debt sets a new record, they just increase the debt ceiling and continue printing more dollars.

The only thing that is concerning is the world dumping US dollar which means all the trillions and trillions of dollars they have been printing without it being backed by anything is coming back to America and will become a tsunami hitting US economy.
In which case US will experience Venezuela like hyper inflation but on steroids and it would the time for every American to buy as much bitcoin as they can to flee the sinking ship. That means there is this possibility that bitcoin price could reach levels that we can not imagine now.

This is how I understand the US economy and US$  progressing or regressing!

The only safe haven for anyone's wealth is Bitcoin. We have been told many times
particularly by Michael Saylor that there is no other comparable store of wealth.

In the scenario above the demand for Bitcoin would explode.

Hmmm interesting in a way, whats the point of this preseason competition other
than a money spinner for the NRL itself I guess? why not just go straight into the premiership
itself?

Obviously the $100,000 is something to play for!

And it will all end this weekend after the 2 round competition. Hmmm.
I know its not new but I actually missed it last year.

I might throw a bet or two on, See The Saints will have a baptism of fire tomorrow when
they play the Panthers!

Any tips on a WTA tournament in Doha? Some interesting matches today: Koudermetova defeated Gauff (I was sure Coco was to win this one), Bencic withdrew against Swiatek, Pegula won against Haddad Maia which was totally expected. Garcia - Sakkari is still under way and Maria won the first set I guess?

Any tips for the semis?  Cool

Unfortunately, the WTA is very unpredictable, I rarely make bets on it anymore. Only
thing I can say is watch Swiatek, simply because she is #1.

Tsitsipas v Sinner - really looking forward to this, would live to back Sinner but
I'm not sure, I havent seen him playing yet, maybe a dollar bet for a bit of fun??
My money is on Tsitsipas in this one. He just feels like a player with higher ceiling. I don't see Sinner ever winning against Tsitsi in top form while I can invasion Tsitsi squeezing a win even if he isn't on 100%. That being said, Sinner is a complete package and I am sure he can do some damage on Tsitsi backhand. That is the way to play against Tsitsi, make him hit hard backhands and hope this is the day when it is a bit off and not firing winners.

This is going to be an interesting one. I personally also think that Tsitsipas could be the one who will be able to win the match. But of course, it is going to be a very close one. This is still a round of 16 match. Don't get me wrong, I also think that Sinner has the potential to be a competent player. But right now, I believe that Tsitsipas is likely on track to perform better.

And one thing I have also noticed is that a lot of elite players are actually not very strong on their backhand. Tsitsipas is likewise one of them. So it is not surprising if Sinner focuses on that. However, even after that, Sinner won't be able to win. Anyway, that's my prediction.

Great win by Jannik, I watched this one and he was super focussed and played electric
tennis. From the stats he was twice as good as Tsitsipas particularly on serve.
1564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 16, 2023, 01:04:14 PM
The last match of the day has just started. Griekspoor against Zverev. Griekspoor is serving better than Zverev. It looks like Griekspoor is more likely to make the first break.
Zverev took the first set convincingly but Griekspoor took the next two sets and the match ended in victory for Griekspoor.

Today's match, Tsitsipas' will play against Sinner, their last meeting was a tight match and won by Tsitsipas and my prediction this will be a 3 set match, Sinner can take a set but the match will be win by Tsitsipas.
Medvedev vs B. van de Zandschulp, will be a 2 set match and Medvedev will still go to next round.

@Strongkored I’m kinda disappointed in Zverev because the way he won the first set I thought that he would go on to win the match, but it seems that he has yet to learn how to capitalise when he’s ahead. Also Tsitsipas is definitely everyone’s favourite for this match, and personally I don’t think that Sinner can extract revenge by defeating Tsitsipas.

I watched that match last night, Zverev had good moments in the match but
Griekspoor did really well to get through with the win. I also thought Zverev would
go on to win after the first set, but yea looks like he isnt fully fit or possibly a bit
anxious of getting those torn tissues in his ankle...

Tsitsipas v Sinner - really looking forward to this, would live to back Sinner but
I'm not sure, I havent seen him playing yet, maybe a dollar bet for a bit of fun??

This headline yesterday evening caught my attention>
English team could join WRU, merge with Welsh region and play in London under radical proposal

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/english-team-could-join-wru-26249690

Interesting article which points out how Welsh Rugby is in a bit of a financial crisis and
that players salaries which could be capped lower is not good.

No Six Nations this weekend, the URC is back on with Round 14.

If you haven't gotten any results from teaching someone, then let it go. We have tried to guide them in a good direction, but they cannot accept it and are even afraid of the fluctuations that occur. But, when the bull market has started to arrive, believe me they will start looking for you.

Thats a good point, surely when the next bull run hits hard and the Bitcoin market crosses
the $100,000 range the media will be on it big time.

So you could treat our small endeavours at teaching people as "sowing seeds" that
will hopefully germinate and become healthy shoots in the future!
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else getting deflated with the bitcoin naysayers? on: February 15, 2023, 07:18:56 AM
There's no point trying to explain Bitcoin to someone, who doesn't understand finance and economics. The people are used to fiat money, because this is what they have been using on a daily basis for their entire lives. There are several things that scare them away from Bitcoin:
1.The price volatility.
2.The "opportunity" to forget their passwords/private keys and lose all the BTC in their wallets forever(or sending BTC to the wrong address).
3.The amount of crypto scams, that are offering something that is too good to be true.
4.The centralized crypto exchanges blocking their funds for some BS reason or they are simply getting hacked(or turning into exit scams).
There are plenty of reasons for the people to be scared of Bitcoin/crypto. That's why mass global adoption of BTC hasn't become a reality.
I'm a Bitcoiner, but I still believe that the crypto industry is far from perfect.

Thats it, its familiarity, everyone is familiar with the FIAT system and they are tied into it
with salaries, loans and mortgages.

Its about education both financially and Blockchain/Bitcoin but most of the time people want
proof. The best proof is when Bitcoin
crosses the ATH, more people will flock to Bitcoin for the wrong reasons and will still
be uneducated.

This also is related to the media and how they portray Bitcoin, and everyone likes to
believe the media, generally speaking.

I think we have all at some stage tried to teach friends and colleagues about Bitcoin and
have not had successful results, there comes a time when you just have to look after #1.

Well Tsitsipas won in 2 sets, Ruusovouri went ahead in the first set and Tsitsipas' odds
went out to 1.57 - that was decent, I put a $1 bet on, it is Tsitsipas afterall, anything
was liable to happen...

Just watching Medvedev v Davidovich Fokina, Medvedev is not having it easy, a lot of broken
serves in this first set. Medvedev's odds went out to 1.33 so I put 0.1mBTC on him.
1569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 14, 2023, 06:51:40 PM
Well Zverev got the job done against Kwon. All the usual suspects won their matches,
Felix AA, Hurkacz who had a tough one against Bautista Agut.

Tsitsipas is playing ATM against Ruusuvuori, I certainly wont be betting on that!

Medvedev up later, odds are too low to bet on this one.

Good to see Wawrinka plays more frequently again. Similar to Murray there was a relatively short phase in his career where he played outstanding tennis. Most of the other time it was a more of an up and down for him. In some games his fighting spirit was out of this world and he didn't give up a single ball. Now he is also injured more often and I guess he is trying to improve his cash balance a bit before he retires. He is going to turn 38 in March this year. It seems that after his retirement there is no other active tennis player from Switzerland in the higher ATP rankings.

Wawrinka got a couple of good years, mainly between 2014 and 2016 where he won 3 grandslams and played really great tennis. I think he more has a love for the game than that he wants to improve his cash balance as he won more than 32 million $ in prize money.

Yes he had his moments to be on top. He will be looking to win some tournaments
this year I would say, both for the prize money and his Tennis. I think he is will
struggle TBH, I'm a big fan of his but there is just some serious competition now,
Djokovic, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Rune, Ruud, Alcaraz, He could if he gets
his game going, stays fit and injury free, be a serious challenge to Nadal I think.

Anyway he beat Bublik in 2 sets yesterday and plays Gasquet next, these two
would know each other well from playing over the years, they have played 4 times
and Gasquet leads 3 - 1
1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners with Alzheimer's. How do you work it out? on: February 13, 2023, 10:23:34 PM
Unfortunately, I can't think of a solution to your problem. Of course, you could try to keep your brain in shape, but Alzheimer's is a serious illness and there's no way to cure yourself completely. You could write everything down on paper, but eventually you will forget about the paper notes.
At some point, you will have to give out your crypto savings to your airs and/or you will have to invest them in serious medical treatment.
People with Alzheimer's aren't capable of running their own finances. This sucks, but there's no way around. Really sad story, man.

AFAIK there is no solution or cure unfortunately and yes while its such a serious illness,
its more of an insidious one, a truly hateful one.

@PrivacyG - I'm sorry to hear about your illness, this and its cousin Dementia are two of
the only things that truly frighten me. I dont know anyone personally but know of friends
of friends who have been affected.

It seems that a common effect of the disease is for the patient to slowly regress back
to "childhood" - something you have eluded to yourself.

franky1 - fair play to him has been the first responder and hit on everything really.

Just to add something else, I think its important not to isolate yourself and get completely
wrapped up with exercising your brain, community has to play a part also, plenty of
interaction with others is important, get them playing games with you also.

I really wish you all the very best for the future.

possibly not, but the Murray, Nadal, Djokovic and Federer has been debated to death already.

Rotterdam has started today, ATP500 so there are lits of big names at it. I'm watching Wawrinka
v Bublik ATM and have a bet in Wawrinka @ 1.74, which is nice, He is up one set now.

Earlier Gasquet beat the no.7 seed Carreno Busta.

Tomorrow is a big name packed day, Zverev, Tsitsipas, FAA, Medvedev, Rune and Hurkacz,
ML odds are not great though.

1574  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC Silver and Gold on: February 13, 2023, 01:27:42 PM
I do not stack any precious metal, actually it was kind of a plan I had before knowing Bitcoin, to buy some Silver for the long term.
However, I finally decided to go full Bitcoin because decentralization and how easy is to conceal from bad people.

There is also a small chance some crook around here could be selling counterfeit bullion, I rather not to take those chances.

Yup me too, I am all in on Bitcoin.
And I was also looking at Gold bullion a few years ago but after doing some research
found out that there are very convincing counterfeits of reputable manufacturers like
PAMP. If I can find that info I will edit this post.

Anyway, Bitcoin is real, my Bitcoin cant be copied, its easily transported and transferred,
its the top performing "asset", I cant see an alternative.
1575  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 2023, Bullish or Bearish? on: February 12, 2023, 06:09:51 PM
This year I am still bullish on bitcoin, even though the price is currently at the lowest level. But if it's time for bitcoin to start rising again, the price will surely gain a rally and start increasing like before.

Traditionally the market has shown some bullish sighs on the lead up to the halving.
See the chart from this article from >
https://dailyhodl.com/2022/10/31/crypto-analyst-says-bitcoin-could-triple-in-price-to-63000-before-next-btc-halving/

we can see the market rises overall in the year before the 1st and 2nd halving. The
last halving shows overall sideways movement of the market with some volatility, I recon this year
will be the same but overal Bullish.

Every cycle brings a new set of market challenges, this year its War and Inflation which will play their
part in the lead up to the halving of next year.

Me? I'm always Bullish.
1576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: February 12, 2023, 02:12:13 PM
Sounds like it was an exciting game.  I'm sorry I wasn't able to catch it.

This week-end there were some preseason games in the Australian NRL which is due to kick off in three or four weeks time.  Already, we've had the usual drunkan brawls and training injuries to keep the journalists in print ink - soon enough it'll be down to the never-ending analysis in the meal rooms and water coolers on this side of the planet.

I'll get the results posted tomorrow.

(later tonight it's England Vs Italy)

In fairness both games were very interesting, obviously if you were cheering for Wales
it wasnt happy viewing. Scotland had some really great play in the second half.

Highlights for ya >

Ireland v France - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iGKGzycR9k

Scotland v Wales - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEgXzqkVpAw

Looking forward to the NRL season this year.
Cant believe the drunken brawls at this stage in the "professional era" of sport in general
wnere there is a lot of money involved and players looking to take the place of anyone
not performing. . . or maybe thats not a thing?

Rugby doesn't exist for for me anymore, after that result. I'm going to need at least five days of not talking about rugby Cheesy. I guess everyone else was right, I still feel the penalties are our undoing despite losing by quite a decent margin. Oh, and also our bloody line outs. I don't think I've ever seen a team that's so consistently poor at line ups. How many times do we lose our put ins on a weekly basis? Seriously, within the first half I think we lost two or three.

We were doing okay too, we had good territory, and in the first half it was being played with the Scottish under pressure. However, we just don't seem to have that attacking flair. We just sort of go through the phases, and it's very flat. Anyway, I expect Italy to give a good game, but ultimately England will walk away with the win.

I hear ya! as Ireland supporters we have had plenty of lean years, and font talk about
the massive expectations in the last 2 world cups where we just didnt do well at all,
especially when we have a massively talented squad, a golden era squad really.

Whats strange currently with Wales is that there is still massive talent in the squad,
and seriously experienced players there.

It was a SIX NATIONS RUGBY day for me yesterday and I only checked in with the Tennis
this morning. I'm shocked to see that Rune was beaten by Cressy, I really thought it was going
to be a Sinner v Rune final.

Sinner should win today, he is the clear favourite 1.29 v 3.5. I would love to see hom do it
and kickstart his 2023 season.
1578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union 🏉 League 🏆 Super 6/7s Pro14, Cups & Tours | Olympics | Touch.... on: February 12, 2023, 09:18:32 AM
Irish vs the French was one of the best games we've seen in a long time. Although, that yellow card offense; I thought it was a easy red. I didn't really see the mitigation factor of most of the contact hitting the chest, I saw clear direct to the had, and the Irishman actually failed the head assessment, so obviously was concussed from it. You could argue that was from whiplash alone, but there's clear evidence of shoulder to head contact. Quite substantial too.

I imagine the fact that up to that point it was a fast paced, and even game probably factored into the decision. No one wants to ruin a game like that, but ultimately there's was clearly shoulder to head contact. Anyhow, I'm optimistic for the Welsh game, despite being pretty much written off by almost every rugby fan, including the bookies.

Yea great game, plenty of action, line breaks, attack, scramble defense and scoring.

The yellow card offense should indeed have been Red, Wayne Barnes the referee has
historically not been fair to Ireland, not many people here like to see hime refereeing our games.

It was indeed a clear shoulder to head and Im not sure there was any mitigating factor,
that should have been voided by the fact that Herring failed the HIA.

Similar happened to George North of Wales yesterday too, he was hard hit on the head,
referee stopped play quickly when North showed signs of being seriously injured.

The mitigating factor there was that North had lowered into the tackle. I think if
the injured player fails the HIA any mitigating factor should be voided and the
Yellow changed to Red.

....and on to that match itself, Scotland v Wales, Wales kinda carried on from last week,
a lot of errors in the game, 11 visits to the Scottish 22 and only 7 points to show. The
accuracy just wasnt there eventhough they had some great phases of attacking play.

Scotland werent much better early on and I really thought it was at least going to be a
close result.
1579  Other / Meta / Re: Good Initiative by Royse777! on: February 11, 2023, 06:06:26 PM
This new initiative as per my knowledge has not be initiated by any other BM other than @Royse777.

I've seen in the past more than once notes in the bounties that those finding cheaters could get paid, in a way or another. This is the same logic, since posting AI crap in signature campaigns is cheating, not just spam.
Of course, it's harder to catch that with proper proof, hence the bigger the pay.

I think though that just reporting the spam - AI generated or not - can have the same effect on long term (if people do report at sight) because mods can still remove those posts (hence the bounty/campaign participants won't get paid). Of course, then the reporters won't get paid. But we can't just have them all  Wink

However, indeed, not a bad move for the campaign manager!

Yea its a great initiative by Royce777.
I think if the reporter of an offending post/poster doesnt get rewarded for an AI post
but the post is deemed spam the reward should still be awarded.

The idea by Royce777 not only activates all other campaign participants into
detective mode
it also acts as a deterrent to those who would consider using AI.
Maybe it will raise the question in potential offenders, Is it worth possibly losing a
weekly wage and seeing it awarded to someone else?
