2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin really really cheap right now? Or is it dying? on: February 26, 2013, 11:31:08 PM
OK I'm kinda out there/tripping tonight but here's my musings for what they may be worth.

Everything in (physical) existence is a duality (this includes virtual stuff), best known are things like like day/night, energy/matter, male/female, yang/yin, hot/cold, Coke/Pepsi, PC/mac, Etc/Etc - a piece of paper has to have two sides & anything that comes in to existence brings it's other side in to existence also, they can compete/cooperate & everything in between but there will always be an Alt, whether it is Litecoin or another alt to Bitcoin I couldn't be sure but atm it is by far the most likely candidate imo & so therefor well worth keeping an eye upon at the very least, there are niche markets where it may prove very successful & dedicated talented people working on applications for it  - I am actively building a stake in it atm - which you can find it somewhere on http://forum.litecoin.net/index.php/topic,608.0.html hopefully, if you like.
2022  Economy / Lending / Re: looking for a 40 bitcoin loan on: February 26, 2013, 10:35:52 PM
hello,

I'm a 22years old student from Belgium. I will graduate from university this summer (Master in social work). As a way to reward myself i had planned a 3 week long roadtrip to the united states together with my girlfriend and some friends. in normal circumstances i would have had no problems paying for all of it ...

but as i said  i have ran into a little trouble... 80% of the money i have had saved up from my last summer job got lost in pirates scheme( about 100 bitcoins back then wich was around 650$) after that i tried to recover my losses lending on bitcoin jam with the +-20 bitcoin i had left. wich resulted in..... more scams.  of my 130 bitcoins i now ended up with 9 bitcents.

all of my time here i've been the one investing in people and due to a string of bad luck i'm down to this:/

Um, poor judgement rather than a string of bad luck & rather than learning from this you are trying to compound it at other's expense, though no one will be quite so foolish as to entertain you in this.
2023  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CASASCIUS PHYSICAL BITCOIN - In Stock Now! (pic) on: February 26, 2013, 05:01:51 PM
Bitcoin's increasing value/price is making these too expensive to buy as cheap gifts. I think you may have to come out with a smaller denomination version.

How about some Casascius coins denominated in satoshis, like a 100,000 satoshi coin (0.01 btc ~ 30 cents) good for hand outs/tips etc & most of it's value would be the manufacture costs - for now at least, or even a 1 satoshi coin might be interesting for collectors/the future value etc, it could compete with these.

I've now had my claim accepted & was very promptly paid the back interest from Gigamining, I've now invested that plus enough more to upgrade all my shares to Teramining so will be watching the shipping forecast from BFL with much interest now, anyway I'm glad to be supporting bitcoin mining & the network going forward in to the ASIC age & thank Giga for getting this all sorted out.

2026  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mystical Speculation: Bitcoin Tarot Card Reading on: February 26, 2013, 11:32:53 AM
i like this, it would be cool if you gave us the "meaning" of each card, as well as your interpretation

This resource I find good for a general guide to standard card meanings http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/

I'm enjoying seeing a Tarot thread & if you included the suit cards as well as the major arcana that may work well for day to day readings.
2027  Economy / Gambling / Re: Peerbet.org - Play without house edge! on: February 26, 2013, 11:08:55 AM
Someone created 30 BTC raffle and bought 10% of the tickets. Try your luck and let's to hit Peerbet absolute record!
https://peerbet.org/raffle.php?id=696802

That was me, just discovered your site & like it a lot! Tongue

I just bought another 3.33% worth of the 30 BTC raffle & also have made 3 games for 1BTC @ 50% (I bought 0.5 BTC on each) one of which has completed, all in the provably fair section.
2028  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitcorp Mining Company - BTCMC 60+ GH/s, clear ASIC upgrade path. on: February 26, 2013, 11:02:09 AM
There are no exchange anymore, only a list of the last glbse shareholders, my initial.investment was 80 btc, and later I spent some dividends, right now I get with my shares about 2btc mo. If you make a good offer I might sell... A flood destroyed my stuff and I need new workstation...

BTCMC shares have paid nothing out since Oct 2012's earnings, so there is a backlog of 3 - soon to be 4 month's dividends that you might like to take in to account, but also some of the share holder's funds were trusted to the margin gambling site Bitcoinica which no mining op should have risked & was only admitted to months later so something else to bare in mind when valuing them.

On the 9th of Feb, 16 days ago, I sent to Quintin & James my apostilled affidavit claim plus a apostille of my passport (as an extra - in all it ended up costing me well over $150) & asked for it's receipt to be acknowledged to me so that I could know it was being processed because I have never once had one single reply from Quintin as yet to any of my emails & questions, when this didn't happen I wrote to James a few times to chase this up & he has been very prompt at replying & agreed to include me in the early ASIC mining group as I have my claim pending since before that was announced & have stated my desire to make the paid upgrade from the beginning, I don't know why James can't just process this himself but anyway I really hope that it may finally get to be done this Tuesday, the 26th, so it can be wrapped up before BFL hopefully start shipping ASICs in early March.

Hi Otoh,

I have asked Quentin to double check with his office regarding your claim and a few others. I will be getting in touch with Quentin this morning to review what happened with the check on Friday.

If you would like to scan your documents and send them to me directly, I will be happy to review and process the claim today.

Best,
James

Hi, my claim with all the requested documents attached as PDFs was cc-ed to your email, please let me know if you would like it re-sent to you again - otherwise you will find it received by both you & Quentin on the 9th of Feb as stated in my post here & my original claim (without apostile affidavit docs) also sent to you both on the 27th November 2012 - now nearly 3 months that Quentin has been ignoring my claim.

Thank you for agreeing to process my claim yourself, it really should have been one of the easiest as I have been open about my holdings all along & have very positive reputation.

Hey everybody,
Does anyone store their coins in round, hardshell airtites? If so, what is the right size and where did you order them? PM me.
Thanks!

anyone?  Huh

24 h seems to be too short  Cry

Sadly you bought at well over the current 'chicken out' price, the only (risky) option then is to keep re-buying in the hope that someone else will stumble in & make the same mistake as you did, or re-buy a few times fast so that it looks like there is still some interest in the game at that price, I feel your pain & have been there - though never ended up as the bag holder, this game has a nasty sting in it's tail for those who over anticipate when the music will stop - just write it down to experience (learning the hard way wise) & at least it looks like you are earning a decent living with your meister skills otherwise so will make it back soon enough.
2035  Economy / Speculation / Re: wow, bitcoin's astro birth chart is full on! on: February 17, 2013, 04:17:07 PM
Many thanks for the interest & my apologies for the recent lack of updates, I'd started to prepare one on Bitcoin's Chinese rat astro sign in this just started new year of the snake but got side tracked by going off to the woods in the middle of nowhere to house/animals sit, will try & post more soon.
2036  Economy / Gambling / Re: This is the magnificent bitcoin gem on: February 17, 2013, 11:41:12 AM
I would suggest that you recommend the buyers of the gem pay a 0.001 btc (under 3 cents) miner's fee when sending their payment as some of the transactions hang for hours when ppl send with no fee at all (player BitBears recently for over 5 hours I believe) or too low for what is needed to get the confirmations. Better still insist upon this or the tx is cancelled, funds returned & game open again for new buyers.

Anyway I'm enjoying playing 'pass the gem' these last couple of days ~ thanks for making it, a Litecoin version would be sweet with it's faster confirms.

Edit: Bitbears is running a version of this game so that's prob why he jammed up this one that he just ripped off the idea from = pathetic really to see how low ppl will stoop to try & grab a few cents from other's creativity & work.
I didn't even realize my purchase went without a miner's fee.  I normally add a .0005 fee with all transactions.  But, looking back through the transaction history, it appears the game was idle for 1.5 hours.  It also appears that I'm not the only one that forgot his fee...  I'm sorry for that, I did not intend it.  I will make sure that doesn't happen again.

I have no competition with the Gem.  I like that site, I often play it, and I've reset it a time or 2, as well.  I've only ever wished the best for Max and his site.

While BitBears was inspired by the Gem, it wasn't a total ripoff.  One of the things I see with the Gem is that there is a lot of downtime, pretty much every day, as the price maxes out.  That was the idea behind BitBears, to create a game with little to no waiting, there is always a Bear to buy, it moves faster, and the game keeps going.  And while we've had a healthy amount of playing on BitBears, it doesn't have the following of the Gem, and I'm fine with that.  When the Gem maxes out for the day, people come play my game.  I think everyone is happy with that.

"BitBears - better odds, lower price..." = no competition? A lot of your reply was more a thread jacking advert for your derived copy cat site than an apology, anyway as you've now promised at least pay a miner's fee in the future so as not to sabotage & spoil this game for others, thanks.

that's what she said

Long time no update.  How's the sky look for your vantage point?  I'm seeing deep conflict in general but not sure how bitcoin fits in.

I'll answer tomorrow in the Astro thread, just moving to house sit atm

I think that they complement each other very well, not rivals, I wouldn't be surprised to see LTC ending up as having a value about 10% of BTC's long term
