I'm glad I waiting out Primedice for DiceBitco.in.  Finally something that was close to FXO.

What do you mean? I'm really surprised people are actually jumping ship just for that little bit extra. I'd rather stick with a time and tested deal at least for a month before moving over. I know the guy has put some money in escrow but 5 bitcoins wont last long and there could still be problems with payments etc.

I and others had the same concern, but as bitcoininformation explained just a few posts back, they will evaluate how much more might be needed in a week's time, and increase the amount in escrow if necessary. Provided some care is given to updating it whenever needed, I see little reason to worry about it - and it's a 20% increase in rates (give or take), which is a nice incentive. Smiley

How many months I will have to wait before becoming "member"?

You will be a Member when you reach 60 activity points, and you get 14 points every 2 weeks, if you're active (post regularly); so, you're about 8 weeks away from that at the moment. You can check how it works in more detail in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.0.

EDIT: Actually, the OP in this thread also has a link that answers that question.
2363  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you guys play on your own? on: July 31, 2014, 07:54:14 AM
Played Endless Space some months ago, but recently went back to Space Empires V - worse graphics and the AI is weak, but I think it's probably the best space strategy game out there, especially if you have someone to play with/against. Smiley

Just looked at Sapce Empires V on Steam - OMG the graphics look like something out of 1997 and Win 95.  Might be a good game and I'm not all for eye candy but come on  Cheesy

Grin Well yes, the game does not shine for its graphics, that's for sure. And the AI isn't much of a challenge, even if you allow it to cheat unfortunately, so ideally you should really have someone to play with... and a lot of free time.

But what I really like about the game is the sheer amount of options you have available in everything, from the types of units you can build (ships of all sizes, bases, drones, fighters, satellites, weapon emplacements, ground troops, mines, etc), what components you can build them with (far too many to post here, and with many different functions), where you place them on your ship, and formations used in combat, to a large amount of espionage/sabotage related options, and an even larger amount of diplomatic options, treaty arrangements and alliances.

Anyway, grab a demo of the game somewhere and try it out. Wink

Hmm, not one person playing strategy games like Civ, XCom, Endless Space/Legend?

2365  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK to decriminalize file sharing on: July 31, 2014, 06:14:57 AM
Just move to another country. No reason to stay in UK as it is easy to move within the zone.

The only problem there being that not everyone has the conditions to do so (money, family, friends, language), and the place you might end up going to, may not necessarily be a whole of a lot different.
2366  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Games on: July 31, 2014, 04:04:58 AM
Be creative dude, sell some in-game currency for btc, search for btc casinos, or try this game looks like you can change that currency fot btc http://bit.ly/1pnHpKL

Yep, GoldenTowns allows you to withdraw in-game currency to btc/$/€, though don't expect to get much out of it. In fact, I'm probably going to stop playing soon, due to the infrequent updates and my lack of patience for the game - I'm just waiting for my last transaction to be processed (PM me if you want to buy my game account! I'll make it cheap. Grin).
2367  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you guys play on your own? on: July 31, 2014, 03:32:30 AM
I play counter strike.

league of legends  Cool

Do you guys play these alone - that is, in single player mode? Because I think that is what the OP is asking here; not exactly, what games you usually play. Tongue
League don't have a single player mode. And no the OP isn't asking about single player mode games. He is asking what games you play alone without your friends. Please learn to read.

Oh I see, that's what "playing on your own" means - thanks. My engrish keeps improving everyday. Tongue

And last I checked, you can play League of Legends in "single player", just against bots; you're not going to get a lot out of it though.

How can you say that Russia and China are as worse as the USA?

Here is the list of nations which the Americans have invaded in the past few decades. Give me the corresponding list of the countries invaded by China and Russia.

(...)
1964 Brazil

I have lived in Brazil for most of my life and I can assure you the US has never invaded the country, as they haven't invaded many others on your delusional list. In 1964 in Brazil there was a military coup under the pretense of "protecting the country from communists", and the US was most certainly favorable to this (as was a significant part of the Brazilian society at the time), but there never was any material support of any kind at all. You're a pathetic no-life Putin worshipping troll who keeps making up facts and figures just like you did on the Nintendo game thread a while ago.

I don't know about the Nintendo thread, but I'd say he is mostly right here. So, take Brazil as you mentioned; the only reason there wasn't a greater US involvement in the coup was because Castello Branco's forces were more successful than anticipated - the US had readied a few ships with ammo and oil to help out, and I think they even sent a carrier there just to make sure, but it proved unnecessary. Still, there was certainly diplomatic support (not least of which in recognizing the coup), financial support of members of the opposition, and involvement of the CIA.

Now, we don't know to what extent the CIA was used, as the records haven't been declassified so far, but here's what is known:

Quote
Gordon's cables also confirm CIA covert measures "to help strengthen resistance forces" in Brazil. These included "covert support for pro-democracy street rallies…and encouragement [of] democratic and anti-communist sentiment in Congress, armed forces, friendly labor and student groups, church, and business." Four days before the coup, Gordon informed Washington that "we may be requesting modest supplementary funds for other covert action programs in the near future."

Taken from http://www2.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB118/index.htm.

So yes, there was no US invasion to be sure, but that's not the only way to get things done.

Instead of comparing Dicebitco.in to all of the campaigns that ended in scams, compare it to PD. They are both dice sites, both legit, and both have trustworthy admins (Dicebitco.in's is trustworthy imo). Just because the pay is higher, you can't assume it is a scam. It isn't hard to tell a scam from an admin who is really trying to get their casino's name out there.

Well, bitcoininformation has funds in escrow to pay the campaign members, if things go wrong; so unless bitcoininformation is in on the scam, I think we're safe with Dicebitco.in. Wink

But you shouldn't assume it's that easy to spot scams - that's one of the easier ways to get scammed, guaranteed. Tongue
2370  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 30, 2014, 11:27:13 PM
Get me out of the list, I went with dicebitco.in

I think if your on the list, and switch to another campaign, the only thing you have to do is not claim payment. You should be fine.

Stunna really needs to update all of this, which is one of the reasons I left. In my new campaign I get paid more for a site I love, and the admin is always online and ready to answer questions about the site or campaign.

It's probably a bit too early to say he's always online and answering questions - Updown was also fairly active in the beginning of his campaign, though that changed quickly thereafter. But I have to admit, a 20% raise in pay rate does seem attractive. Smiley
2371  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lawyers on: July 30, 2014, 10:21:44 PM

Right, because lawyers wouldn't take simple cases to finish a bunch of cases really quickly.

Lawyers exist for a reason just like laws exist. There's a lot of laws, and they're confusing. There's a reason they're confusing.

You honestly can't tell me the world wouldn't be a better place today if there were no lawyers.  People are constantly getting in lawsuits because they are trying to get rich.  Lawyers gladly take the case and sometimes they win.

Just some of the cases that make you sick

Lady spills coffee on self, gets 5 million dollars

Judge gets angry at a mom and pop dry cleaning store, sues them for 67 million because their sign said "Satisfaction guaranteed"  Mom and Pop lose 2 of there stores in order to pay for the defense-this shouldn't have ever gone to court, but lawyers do crazy things

A guy named Mark Guthrie gets sued by the company he works for because they made a salary error in his favor, and he didn't want to pay taxes on their error.

Boys trespass on private property, get burned by a wire, win 24 million dollars

These are just some of the crazy cases that should never have happened, but.....Lawyers!

Not to address your larger point, but if the "coffee case" you mentioned was the following, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants, the lady actually got third degree burns from that, and had to be hospitalized for a week. And the final amount she was awarded ended up being less than $600000. Tongue
2372  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: July 30, 2014, 09:59:10 PM
That's true, but xbtec's escrow was only for 1 week.  So I see what you mean about multiplying by 4.  I think you're right, it should probably be enough.

About the rates, it looks like only the full member rate is higher than PD, looks like senior and hero members, the rate is equivalent, right?
PrimeDice pays:
0.0012BTC for Hero.
0.0010BTC for Sr.
0.0006BTC for Full.
0.0004BTC for Member.

DiceBitco.in pays:
0.0014BTC for Hero.
0.0012BTC for Sr.
0.0007BTC for Full.
0.0004BTC for Member.

So DiceBitco.in pays more then PrimeDice if you look at Hero/Sr and Full member rates.

Actually, they also pay more for Members: 0.0005 btc per post. You should probably change the overview in the OP as well. Tongue

Regarding the escrow, you're right, I hadn't noticed just about everyone else had asked the same thing (just recently got here). Smiley
2373  Economy / Services / Re: [DiceBitco.in] [Make the most out of your sig!] Make coins by simply posting! on: July 30, 2014, 09:48:23 PM
Can I reserve a spot to begin on 17th when PD finishes?  I like the better rates here but I don't want to lose half-a-month's payment.

Sorry, but OP has already said reserves aren't allowed.

Escrow just made Smiley Sent an extra 0.05 BTC as tip for the service Smiley

Regarding reserves: We wont reserve slots. When/if 100 slots are taken, they are taken.

Regarding payment: Its stated clearly, they will happen on the 30th(allow up to 48h to clear all 100 payments!). Doing the payment weekly would be a major PITA and time consuming times 4!

Regarding placing more funds in escrow: This is why for first month we limit it to 100 people. 5 BTC should be enough to calm people down, but if we see that we get alot of hero members/jr members with higher rates, we could place additional funds in escrow Smiley

thank you for all participating!

==========Message to sign==========
Hello everyone,

I am currently holding 5BTC in escrow for this campaign. These coins will be used to reimburse people if the OP disappears or defaults. Otherwise they will be send back as soon as everybody got paid.

Just to clarify, the extra 0.05BTC is a tip that the OP send me.

Kind Regards,
BitcoinInformation

As you can see, I am currently holding 5BTC for the DiceBitco.in Signature Campign.

Will those 5 btc be enough though, considering this is a large campaign, and with higher rates than PD? Sure, there aren't that many users enrolled at the moment, but it should just be a matter of time until it gets full. Smiley
2375  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who is More Evil? on: July 30, 2014, 12:56:18 PM
All in all, the US isn't really the disease either. Sure, it's the current bully on the block, but every empire that preceded it did pretty much the same. And as others mentioned, Russia, China, etc. are the same - just on a more limited area, on account of not being as powerful as the US. If you want to go after the disease, I'd say you'd have to look at the way society is structured.
How can you say that Russia and China are as worse as the USA?

Here is the list of nations which the Americans have invaded in the past few decades. Give me the corresponding list of the countries invaded by China and Russia. [...]

I think you might have misunderstood me; I didn't mean to say they effectively invaded/instigated coups/whatever as much as the US did, only that their actions are of the same nature; they don't act all that differently to how the US does - but given their much smaller spheres of influence, these actions are mostly limited to a few regions. The US on the other hand has a much larger sphere of influence; hence the long list you presented. But trying to portrait the US as being something completely different to all the empires that existed so far, as the root of evil, is silly; they're just more of the same, on a larger scale.
2376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who is More Evil? on: July 30, 2014, 11:22:35 AM
The US will win the poll, without a shadow of a doubt. Tongue

[...] I voted USA for the sheer amount of destructive interfering in the affairs of other states, most of which are located on the other side of the globe from the US, deposing legitimate governments, murdering state leaders, starting bloody wars.

The US did a lot on its side of the globe too, unfortunately - just look at South and Central America. By the way, is the embargo on Cuba still in effect? Why? Smiley

I'd pick the US. Islamic militants may be killing thousands of people. But we should remember that it was the CIA which created them. The treatment should be done for the disease, and not for the symptoms. USA is the cancer which is destroying the earth.

All in all, the US isn't really the disease either. Sure, it's the current bully on the block, but every empire that preceded it did pretty much the same. And as others mentioned, Russia, China, etc. are the same - just on a more limited area, on account of not being as powerful as the US. 2377  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lawyers on: July 30, 2014, 10:55:37 AM
dude i seriously hate every lawyer and law maker.

Normal rate for a lawyer = $500 per hr.
dude i seriously hate every surgeon and doctor.

Normal rate for a surgeon  = $10,000 per hr.

Are those US Dollars?  Is so, where the hell is this?

I do internal medicine and I'm probably quitting this year because I can make more money doing photography or IT support than I currently get with medicine - more than 1/2 my patients don't even pay their bills.

No surgeon is making $10K/hr - the hospital is charging you $10K an hour.  A wealthy neurosurgeon might make $2 mil a year busting his ass off for 80-90hrs/wk plus call - that doesn't translate into $10k/hr

I don't think that was his point - he could have said they made $1000 or $1000000 per hour. He was criticizing dumbdragon for judging lawyers merely based on their pay rate, without any further considerations. Besides, nobody really hates doctors/surgeons (I think Smiley).

i just want people to pay attention and realize whats going on before the leash we are already on tightens to the point of strangulation.

i haven't seen those yet, will check them out.

Those two sites are pretty good, though they have been covering the Israeli invasion of Gaza these last few weeks, so you won't get as much coverage of US only news.

Then there is also The Young Turks (http://www.youtube.com/user/theyoungturks); they cover a little of everything, but what I particularly like about them is that they started Wolf-PAC (http://www.wolf-pac.com), which basically has the objective of reversing Citizens United, and taking money out of politics. Now, I don't know if they will actually manage to get anywhere with it, but if they do, it seems to me it would be a great step towards solving the problems you mentioned.

yes and no. not all the videos are about the new world order. some are about the growing corruption in the US, the erosion of civil liberties, and the rise of a police state.

it makes sense, some people just don't see it.

Fair enough; all those things are true, no doubt - but I just don't see much sense in the fear mongering, and wrapping it up in the conspiracy theory / Illuminati talk. Anyway, personally I would recommend something more like Democracy Now, or The Real News Network: they're far more clear, and "to the point".
