761  Economy / Economics / Re: If it is only buying and selling on exchanges, how do you think they are profita on: August 11, 2014, 10:11:25 PM
Exchanges have fees for every transaction, they get 1% or so. Now 1% of 10.000 is 1000$, so they make money based on that.
Also, some have a withdraw fee
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most Annoying Shills / Altcoin Supporters on: August 11, 2014, 10:06:22 PM
I have only heard of Doge, NXT and Lite. I never heard any litecoin fans on the board... but there seems to be a lot of guys promoting NXT. Doge is just amusing to me, never thought of it as a serious coin. Smiley
763  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any Legit Sites To Earn Free Bitcoins on: August 11, 2014, 09:35:29 PM
Most faucets are too slow to get gains  Cry
yes they are very slow, maybe 0.01$ per day - or even less. faucets is not the best way to get btc, but better than nothing.
764  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Anonymous Ads v2 - earn ɃɃ with your site OR use ɃɃ to advertise! on: August 11, 2014, 09:07:29 PM
Thanks for your questions. I recently published a blog post that answers them: http://blog.anonymousads.com/2014/08/why-am-i-not-paid-for-clicks-what-is.html
What about rewards? how to get a reward?
765  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: August 11, 2014, 06:49:53 PM
I won't declare Litecoin dead until it clearly has deviated from its long-term pattern:

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/ltc/btc/btc-e/alltime

That would mean a BTC mania with no corresponding LTC/BTC mania.

It's going to die eventually, the only question is whether or not they get another pump out of it first.
I didn't know about this site, seems pretty good.
LTC price is still going down, I wouldn't say its death.. but it seems to be on a downward trend
766  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Would anyone like "bitcoinstats.org"? on: August 11, 2014, 05:15:50 PM
I own bitcoinstats.org but I no longer need it. I used it for a while to display transaction confirmation times and some other things. I would like it to go to use for some sort of public good. Is anyone working on anything that could use it, hopefully as a not-for-profit service? I'll give it to you on the condition that what you build has at least some sort of use to the bitcoin community (like the display of Bitcoin-related statistics perhaps) and is at least partially free.

-Atheros

I think it would be good to show the blockchain there, so you can lookup addresses or transactions. I have the bitprize.org it shows some stats, but not very popula. I think the site should have something valuable to the community, but not sure what
767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does anyone get 1 BTC every day? on: August 11, 2014, 05:04:18 PM
just want to know to get more spirit

yes, big business owners. If you run a very good business you can get it, same with fiat.
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we have too many alt coins? on: August 11, 2014, 04:54:36 PM
It's so easy to make one, does it make sense? But think about it, Bitcoin and Litecoin are the same thing.

I think it's good, quick experiments with new technologies. Most of them will fail, and are used for pump and dump... so get some of these coins and trade them for btc  Cheesy
769  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-08] The signs it's time to pull out of Bitcoin investment on: August 11, 2014, 12:42:52 PM
There we go another website writing complete nonsense. This is the worst time to pull out of BTC.
Anyone who does this will be crying soon.

Some guys want to get coins quickly before they get back to $1000, this is the reason for such articles I think
770  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Aircraft Strike ISIS Targets in Iraq on: August 11, 2014, 12:34:07 PM
Unsurprising, US military direct involvement was just a matter of time after the Iraqi Army turned tail and ran from a numerically inferior ISIS force. And given that we had a pretty large part in creating this mess, I can't say I take much issue with it vs. other military campaigns.

wise words...

although the people do not want to go back to Iraq.. this was a mess created by western governments and so we should clean it up.
I personally was deeply ashamed when my country went to war just because my prime minister had his head so firmly wedged up George w. bushes ass.

Saddam was a threat to the region but very little threat to the world... ISIS is much more of a threat both to the region and to the entire world.

I guess it was part of the purpose of the Iraq war. Without war, there wouldn't be a war industry
771  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poll: Who Should Be the First Woman On a Modern Dollar Bill? on: August 11, 2014, 12:32:03 PM
Pam Grier gets my vote:

This would be awesome on a modern dollar bill, something else than a dull painting like picture.
772  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-11] coinsman: Inside a Chinese Bitcoin Mine on: August 11, 2014, 12:17:13 PM
That's a lot of machines mining. I'm guessing there are about 5000 computers in the photo.
I wonder how it will look in 5 years
773  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you think about the actual world conflicts? on: August 11, 2014, 09:21:54 AM
Hey folks,

what do you think about the recent conflicts (russia, ukrain)
and espescially the middle east conflict??

regards,
bitsta

The middle east conflict will continue for many years, when we're dead they will still be fighting.
The US/EU-Russia conflict will continue in Ukraine and also on other territories. Politicians and bankers want wars.
774  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Celebrity Trend on: August 11, 2014, 09:10:38 AM
Is the notion of celebrity as we know it now different from 20+ years ago ?  (I remember a time when we didnt have nearly as many non "talented" famous people. )  Maybe the only thing that has changed is communication platforms ?

Is the celebrity trend growing, plateau or sinking?

What year approx will non "talented" people no longer have huge fan bases?
I think the trend is growing, as people put more and more personal information in the web. - it makes them easier to track and follow. Even a random person can become a celebrity these days.

A key aspect of the concept is that it must be understandable for the masses. If you have say, an exceptional talent for mathematics,  70% won't understand what you are doing at all.
775  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 17000 sign up to lawsuit against Facebook for supporting NSA spying on: August 11, 2014, 09:06:35 AM
Sadly the law suit won't have much ground to stand on and will just be brushed aside.
I doubt it will be brushed aside, but I don't think the plaintiffs will win. This looks like a way for class-action trial lawyers attempting to bully their way to get a settlement from facebook so they can get paid.

This was said above, but it should be said again that the best way to stop the spying is at the polls.

we must keep the independence and freedom of the digital world, i do not agreed to allow FB to track my digital wen i signed up
Facebook is always going to track you to some extent. This is just how FB is setup. Even if they were not to do it for advertising purposes, they would do it to be able to do it via whatever you post on your wall, status, other people's wall, ect.

'Targeted' advertising is the USP of internet companies like facebook and google. But sharing of information, especially of users all over the world, with the US government? I am not sure whether that is acceptable.
Indeed, targeted advertising is different than all data you ever put in facebook. People always have some trust with a company - for example, if you order a pizza you don't expect it will be poisoned. In the same way, if you use a social network - you don't expect all of  your data to be copied. Sadly, the government doesn't protect the customers and instead abuses.

776  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Anonymous Ads v2 - earn ɃɃ with your site OR use ɃɃ to advertise! on: August 11, 2014, 09:01:39 AM
Hi,

could you explain me what different between "Impressions" and "Unique impressions"?

On your statistic, 9 aug, my page had 50 000 impressions a day and 6 unique impressions. Sad

Google analytics says me that i had about 4 964 unique users from 117 countries.

Impressions is page loads, unique impressions is unique visitors counted and used to increase your balance. In general the unique visitors is lower, only unique visitors are counted. If a visitor is using a webproxy or TOR/VPN it is not counted. Also it depends on the country of residence of the visitor.  If you have a page with 200 visitors, it may count only say 70-80.  I guess a lot of traffic on your site is using proxy
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Anonymity so important to you? on: August 10, 2014, 05:59:43 PM
Since people have a right to privacy and an expected right to it without interference from another party
Although in a court case that gets overruled by a warrant or interacting with others  Wink
Still in general freedom to access information and to form opinions independently is why anonymity is important.

Also to purchase some goods that might seem embarrassing if others knew about it ^^.
Or medication etc in the future those type of private use cases where you wouldn't want others to know.
We do have a right to those privacies. We also need them. But the NSA and the government just want everything. Ugh. >.>

The worst thing is, if they try to convince people that they need to do that because of TERRORISM, and righteous people who do nothing wrong have nothing to fear. lol
I am not so sure about this. I think there are a lot of people who value their privacy a lot. I think the reason many people were so willing to give up privacy after 9/11 was because a major act of terrorism had just occurred and people saw the threat as being very real. I think a 9/11 type of event is really a very rare type of event, and the damage that occurred really could not happen again due to change in policies (not allowing even small knives on planes, not assuming that a hijacking is intended to get a ransom) and there have been a couple of failed hijackings over the years.

Isn't this generally called brainwashing? People were told that they are in immediate threat (they weren't statistically) and thus would have to do this to save their lives.

How many 9/11 were there in the last 10 years? How many traffic accidents?
9/11 is being used as reason to remove freedom, its brainwashing indeed. Statistically you have a much higher risk of being killed in a traffic accident than in a terror attack. Despite capturing 80% of the internet traffic worldwide it didn't help to prevent the Boston killings, none of these surveillance tools actually make us more secure - it makes us more vulnerable.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to stay away from scam coins (?) on: August 10, 2014, 03:00:04 PM
You could go with the more popular coins, this forum you can sort by "Replies" and "Views". As here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0;sort=replies;desc
The idea behind this is: if there is no community behind the coin, why would you invest in it?
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin deflationary? If yes..Good or Bad? on: August 10, 2014, 01:39:03 PM
Deflation is good, because the assets will be worth more money, but at the moment there is still a high number of new bitcoins getting in the market.
780  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia is getting ready to bomb the USA :( on: August 10, 2014, 10:24:19 AM
Just glanced to the right at all those other bullshit articles that the wired has posted up, you guys need to bring better sources along, as other people have already claimed, Russia has been putting stuff close to the U.S/Canadian airspace for years, the media are trying to spread panic and force people to make stupid decisions like with Iraq.
The politicians make the decisions, people have not much say in it - unless they do a mass demonstration like it happened in Vietnam. If the politicians never mentioned Iraq in the media, I doubt there would have been an invasion at all.
