Oh and Happy Christmas! The block that determines the winner will be Block #609701.
Wow the giveaway raffles you are running right now are unbelievably generous. I particularly like the idea behind this one, the sentiment is just right. I hope things are going well and that you find yourself surrounded by friends and family this time of year.

Good luck everyone
942  Economy / Goods / Re: Spazzer's Electronics - Headphones on: December 25, 2019, 06:34:11 AM
The reserved post means that they have just taken that spot up for future use. They can edit the information and or post sold or new items there. It's a common placeholder used by OP's on the forum.

The brand should give some indication to the quality of the product. I'm only speculating here but I imagine this is a lot of returned items to a store like Best buy or something. They sell these returned items in as-is condition ina bulk lot with a semi-accurate bill of goods. Decent risk to reward if you score a good lot or are close enough to pick up in person to avoid shipping.

I could be wrong about the products, but I would trust spazzer when they say everything is working.
943  Other / Meta / Re: What if Theymos added new Rank after Legendary? on: December 25, 2019, 06:24:29 AM
That would be a great privilege but of course theymos would probably thinking not cause no more would donate  if this can be achieved by merits. But thinking of it, this will be probably a high steep merit such as 3000 or more cause if you would compare the privilege to those Donators whose giving huge btc.
I don't see that being a deterrent, the Donator level is 10 BTC and the VIP is 50 BTC. The VIP rank is the one that can have a custom title - just checked. I would be amazed if the forum ever receives another 50 BTC donation, or if anyone who could reasonably part with that amount cared if a solid contributor to the forum earned that privilege.

Either way was just a musing as I was responding to the topic. Would be cool but not something needed.

If we add Mythical, I am worried that it will cause noise and jealousy. Finally, it will lead to another drama among high-rank members.
From what I can tell most high ranking members enjoy seeing others achieve these feats. I can't think of anyone [who doesn't already] who would cause drama or be jealous of others achieving this.
944  Other / Meta / Re: Merry Christmas to the Forum on: December 25, 2019, 06:08:08 AM
Merry Christmas all, and if that's not your thing hope you are still having a good time. The clock just struck 12 here, and as usual if I'm on the Forum this late I'm working a nightshift. So I 'll keep a look out and try and snap a pic of the big guy... already promised the kids so I guess I can share this it with you guys to if I catch him.  Wink

In more seriousness, this is probably the longest run I've had with any certain community... definitely anything online including gaming. It's been a year of ups and downs but I wouldn't change it for anything, even the trolls. Well not entirely true I would hope that moving forward certain individuals in this community would just drop their personal vendetta shit, that's been the most disheartening thing I've witnessed over and over again.

So while it is just another random spot along our path around the sun, let's use the season and the new year as a marker. Try and forgive, try and move on or at least just try co-exist. There is nothing gained overall by holding on to hate or dislike or prejudice.

I wish everyone here the best in 2020
945  Other / Meta / Re: What if Theymos added new Rank after Legendary? on: December 25, 2019, 05:40:25 AM
There was some talk of it when the new system first rolled out. I think it was more to set apart old school time based Legendary accounts apart from New rules Merit based Legendary accounts. I'm guessing the idea fizzled as it's a low priority implementation for the forum. I have no idea how hard something like this is to implement, but I also don't see it as necessary. Really the merit score speaks for itself.

What would be cool is the option to give yourself a custom rank title for some large amount of merit earned. I think that's currently something Donators or VIP's can do. Can't recall maybe only staff can play with that.

946  Other / Meta / Re: Session timed out while posting? on: December 25, 2019, 03:34:29 AM
I'm guessing when you log in you don't change the "time to stay logged in" it's defualt is 60 minutes. So if you plan to sit down for longer than you should change it, for example I generally set it for 720, as I can come and go as I please during that 12 hour period.
I cover it in this newbie welcome video at the 40 second mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT5HPhO2MA8&t=&app=desktop

I get this from time to time when I forget, the best thing to do is actually hit "back" in your browser and then go back and copy the post. Log in again then go paste the post and voila you are done. I've had it in the past say you've submitted this already and it was true and I've had it say the same and be false. So I just always double check.

Hope that was your issue.

~snip~
Yikes, good thing you guys got that cooling sorted and decided to drop back down to 13.5. Those S9's are just butter now for you so definitely not worth burning out a couple for the extra 30 TH. Hopefully you get that M20S back up and running soon. Is Pangolin on holiday right now? Makes sense to try and see if they can get you one quick, but building a relationship with a new local repair is definitely worth it... if they're good.
One very serious 'oh sshieet' moment for me was when my BW-L21 miner 6-pin power connectors were badly burned because of a crappy power supply.
The burned plastic smell really startled me bad time.
Man I'm so glad I've never had that moment. My wife would have the gear back in the garage immediately... not that I'd blame her. I have always worried about creating a flamethrower in the basement, but that's why I opted for the mineral wool, and cut back anything flammable from the flooring all around the miner setup. I'm glad it didn't turn out worse and you managed to sleep soundly while it hashed away in the future.
948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: can't move btc for 17 days? on: December 25, 2019, 02:29:11 AM
I hate to ask but are you sure you were on the proper coinbase site? I don't use them, but please double check it's not uncommon for an exchange or similar service to be spoofed. Definitely contact support to work through the issue or ask for an explanation. In the meantime don't send any more cash to buy BTC or any other coin there until this is sorted out, just to be safe.
949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: December 24, 2019, 09:41:01 PM
What can be done when a DT abuses their trust?
First you make an appeal to the individual involved either via PM, or by creating a reputation thread. If that goes nowhere the thread can serve as a discussion in the open about whether the offence deserves a negative. Following this you can appeal to individuals that have included them in their trust lists, to request they be removed. If that all fails there really isn't much to be done, people can tag freely as they see fit, it's up to the community whether they make DT or not.
Quote
And what about trust ratings that are being given for spamming?
These aren't Negative tag offences. People should if they feel it necessary tag neutral in this instance. theymos has stated spamming and such should be handled by moderators and admins.
Quote
Isn't the trust system solely for risked money purposes where we give a rating to someone when either of us risked money or got some money from the other party as loan or through any trade? Why are other things included in trust feedbacks?
Not entirely, it has to do with feedback about the individuals, or if you perceive them to be a risk to scam. Neutrals, probably my favorite admission is great for "personal" preference notations. Positives are handed out similar to negatives, more inline with I this user is a great resource or helpful to the community - though I would rather just see people include them in their trust list as opposed to just positive feedback for those cases.

Hope that helps.
950  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling site Match365 evading forum rules by multiple accounts. on: December 24, 2019, 02:23:42 PM
lol, no one is going to trash their ANN for that. I looked through a couple of the posts at the end and yeah the odd one is within the 24 hour post to bump if you look at both accounts as 1. Now I don't know how the forum handles it with 2 separate accounts under 1 banner potentially, but I doubt it will be the severe punishment you are looking for.

Best case for you would be to "report to moderator" when you see them break the 24 hour threshold and link to the post tying them together. Enough reports might get them a temp ban for starters.
951  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / When was your last "Oh, shit!" moment - How did it turn out? on: December 24, 2019, 01:24:23 PM
So first off mine had a happy ending but it came with a massive sweat. I couldn't confirm or check anything for 10 hours.

So running behind the other day I headed off to work without a quick check of the forum or my hashrate with a morning coffee, somewhat a routine as I get ready for work. Sit down in the office and to my dismay I notice that I have no miners hashing. It's at this moment I recall my M20S sounding as if it was ramping up from the garage as I headed to my car. Chalked it up to a colder day and the fans possibly cycling - either way it wasn't enough to cause me to pop in and check.

So I'm left with knowing my miners were at least powered up in the AM, as I heard the house miners as well and no hashrate - Instantly I'm thinking network is down. So when my wife calls saying she can't connect for work, I have a mini eureka. Navigate her past my loud, cable needing miners to the source of all that is connectivity. She does the power cycle for me, while explaining I may need to arrange things better for when others have to do this stuff - I kindly remind her I've probable done this 20 or so times without her knowledge and that she did just fine lol.

Now the panic, my M20S comes online but the house miners are still down. Instantly I'm thinking fuck... they overheated or something F'd up in the controller. Damn ~90TH might have just pooched itself. Turns out, when power cycling the router, she wiggled the power cable loose for the secondary router that was feeding the 3 home miners - still looked plugged in but was doing nothing. I couldn't have been happier at that moment as I had already gone to worst case scenarios. Best break even I've had in a long time  Wink
952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New poker site... for me anyways. Funded my bankroll with BTC on: December 24, 2019, 10:20:58 AM
An eye-catching headline for sure, but you will only see a tiny fraction of it once you read the small print.
Yeah like I said if I make 1$ in bonus I'll be amazed. I was also dissapointed to see that I was right about the 200% crypto bonus it just doubles the total you can win not the earned amount for each 27.5 points. So in short I am glad that I already knew rake based bonuses for deposits are not usually something I am going to get a big chunk of.

What I did forget to mention as I had to look into it was this 20 days card thing they are doing. You have to log in every day and get a chance to "spin" a card it gives you between .50 and 6$ for a total of 50$ after 20 days. This is all part of the new account sign up bonus, with a minimum 25$ deposit, so far it appears to be working for me and goes right into my balance.

^  Play 6+ Holdem at Stars.  It's veery addicting.  Been playing at nano stakes.  Cheesy
Anyway...  What sucks at sites like ACR is the site converts your BTC to USD.  That's fine if BTC price is trending down.  If it's trending up, you're losing value.
I know this wasn't directed at me but I've been dabbling between the cash and tourneys. I'm not exactly laser focused on any style, or particular game (turbo, deep stack, 6 or 9 max) might be an explanation for times when I get completely owned. That or it's just not my day lol. I had a great streak on th ego for a while before moving over playing micro 6 max cash - not really sure why I stopped, lol.

I have to say I'm the opposite, the BTC conversion to Fiat is a big reason I chose ACR over a crypto only casino. I don't want to be thinking about +/- value of my bankroll on top of losses and gains in playing. I say this because I'm no BTC whale who can live their life in Satoshis. So my deposit was simply what I would have done in Fiat anyways, and taken out of what I would have sold from my BTC. I did try the other route of playing with BTC and it just wasn't for me at this point in my life.
953  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Possible red tag offences on: December 24, 2019, 10:02:08 AM
If a DT member tags you for something stupid involving merit (ie. probably anything less than selling merit), then they're not going to be a DT member for much longer.
Is sort of my go to when it comes to merit and tags. This is a little out of context as it was regarding a merit source  wondering about people negging them for meriting posts. I still believe the intent is there to deter people from negging people for anything less than selling merit, that's why I believe the neutral works best here. Some people have tagged members for merit begging, but I believe most have now moved to neutrals - I really don't keep track of others unless I roll into a situation and take stock of it myself.

I do agree they shouldn't do it, but I just don't want people to get the idea that negative feedback is the norm in this situation.
954  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Possible red tag offences on: December 24, 2019, 09:23:13 AM
Definitely a good subject to warn users about. I think it's important to point out you can actually be tagged for anything, there is nothing stopping someone from tagging you because they don't like your name. People need to understand how trust and feedback work, and know that there is an intended use to the system. You might want to consider pointing users to the thread created by LoyceV - LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system

It would also be a benefit to quote theymos's intent about how tags and flags should be used. This would help back up your explanations on why people may be tagged.

The last point though I disagree with. People shouldn't be negged for merit begging. Ignored sure, neutral feedback why not I'm not the boss. Spamming Pm's the same thing unless the content requires a tag. If it is a forum rule being violated then the forum should dole out the punishment - there have been reputable users who have received bans for Pm's.

Again can't be stated enough there is no hard and fast rule for what will get you negged, and that some Negs mean more than others. Learn the whole trust/feedback system.

956  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Canadian Bitcoin Scammer to Face Two Years Jail for $140k Twitter Fraud on: December 24, 2019, 03:58:57 AM
The sentence seems inline with a judges weighted average. Canadian here lol. They will have looked into their past and possible future if rehabilitated, they will also see that it was a crime with 1 victim. The sentence would have been harsher if it was the same amount from numerous victims. I didn't look but the comments suggest they are landed immigrants or permanent citizens, there's a chance they will face deportation after their sentences - it varies based on the type of crime and has been changing the last few years.

Not going to lie I would have wanted to see a harsher sentence in terms of time maybe 1 or 2 more years added, but definitely a community service type aspect would help. WE do it with Drunk Drivers all the time they make a commercial or something about what they did... generally including who they killed. Here they could be making a PSA for the populous about how easy it is to trick you into giving them your crypto. I'm not sure about what the victim will recover, odds are that all their possessions will have been confiscated as proceeds of crime and their computers and internet presence searched for any coins that can be returned. She can also likely sue from the US, and in most cases Canada enforces that type of litigation.

Once a thief, always a thief
I must respectfully disagree. People constantly change, and for most people spending 10% of your like in bars at an age when you should still be having fun as a young adult can be seen as a life changing incident. Now would I outright trust them or release them early, not a chance. Serve the 2 years don't bitch or complain then be better is all I can hope.

Glad to see people do get rounded up every now and then. Especially considering my own little faux pas not to long ago.

958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Purposes to play gambling, except being rich on: December 24, 2019, 03:32:00 AM
I do it for the enjoyment, I like a challenging game and that's what I get from my gambling. Sure making some cash of it would be nice but I'm no where near the level that it's a probable outcome over a given time. I prefer to only gamble on table games if anything, mostly poker, some roulette and I used to enjoy Blackjack quite a bit. I really don't play much besides poker anymore as I enjoy having to think through a strategy and then the "gamble" when it comes to a flip or something early still brings that excitement with it.

I personally can't bring myself to play pure games of chance anymore I just don't get a good feeling from them. Shiny lights aren't enough for me, despite coming from a family of slots players lol. Best story was mom gave me a 20$ to play the slots with on my 18th - I put it in cashed out at 22.50$ then went and bought some drinks.

960  Economy / Reputation / Re: Yobit campaign participants and supporters on: December 24, 2019, 02:59:51 AM
What are you saying
"chipmixer-foxpop merit" here the most powerful group - doesn't others have a right to say something? - do you only have rights?
If so, they will ban everyone except you! - but I won't shut up until then
Are we extras here? Are we co-players?
Say anything you want, your role in DT will reflect that. You are far less likely to be removed for the things you say in posting or creating topics. People here really do hammer home the freedom of speech. I am no member of any group, I'm privileged enough to have earned a spot in the Chipmixer campaign, I receive merits from people who feel I contribute or have value, and I disperse them accordingly.
I could be banned just asa easily as the next person - should I commit a bannable offence, I won't because I try to ensure I comply with forum rules. What can I say some people are willing to think outside of themselves in situations, it's fairly helpful.
When it comes to the Trust/Feedback system, you can still say anything you want or do as you please. The other side of that is if you have a role in DT, there are expectations and guidelines on how this system is to be implemented. So that leaves you with a choice.
-Continue to throw a temper-tantrum lose your position within DT.
-Grow up, develop thicker skin, and use the system as it's designed and bring your complaints to threads or topics for discussion.

I repeat that it is a privilege that bears responsibility to be on DT, one that has had others just walk away from it completely. If you are not up to the task then leave it be. In this system we are all extras meant to give an impression to new users or newly met users to help guide transactions and interactions.

I will leave you with this. I have been in your situation a couple times now I think. Negatives no longer are the be all and end all of the world. So if you get tagged and there is even a remote reason it has some value you should try and engage in a dialogue - not an argument - with that individual to see if it can be resolved. If there is no resolution you can take the next steps, but I repeat you should never leave a Neg, just because they did.
