Wait, so this was actually announced?

Wow... Didn't know that so many religions were heading back to the dark ages.

I thought this was a hoax or propaganda or something, and it may very well be, but that's still REALLY messed up.

Has the whole world gone mad?

Not a hoax or propaganda, just to many retards in this world. It is a common practice in the middle east.
962  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Israel has already won, the Palestinians must surrender to avert a disaster on: July 26, 2014, 03:48:49 PM
Don't the Palestinians have the support of the Arab countries though?

(I admit I don't know much about this situation.)

yes, both sides have foreign support, for a long time. No matter how small a country is, there always seems to be foreign involvement, I mean even in korea.
963  Other / MultiBit / Re: Have bitcoin in wallet but they dont exist? Please help! on: July 26, 2014, 01:35:51 PM
I checked that there is 0.3btc at this address:
https://blockchain.info/address/1GHF65BCuu4oTyi5h2JAA14ihBAVeRh3jQ

Where is this address? In the blockchain.info wallet or in your multibit wallet? Are you trying to send that 0.3btc to another address in your multibit wallet?

It looks like the transaction is sent to 1B2QphxAmYsotuteSCEPEfbR1BkweM2EeH yesterday. Maybe op succeeded and forgot to reply here;
964  Other / MultiBit / Re: Sended X btc but it didn't get any confirms on: July 26, 2014, 01:33:00 PM
But in my wallet it says that I don't got those btc that I sensed. But I dint have any sended transaction (this after I rescan blockchain). So should I use an backup and rescan it with that to get it back to my wallet?

or is the only option now to get it to blockchain wallet?

Is the client synchronzied? You could paste your bitcoin address in blockchain.info to see if the transaction is sent on the blockchain.
Usually it should take about 4-10 minutes.
965  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sanctions against Russia spark AK-47 buying frenzy in US - Sanctions be good on: July 26, 2014, 01:15:51 PM
Is AK-47 intellectually protected?

Who is gaining the most? Russian IP or American weapon manufacturer?

It's not intellecually protected as far as I know, the gun originates from communistic times, 1948,

966  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please tell me if my computer will be ok for mining or not on: July 26, 2014, 01:13:20 PM

A bit of a description below:

2.7 GHz Dual Core AMD Athalon 5200+ Processor (comparable to Intel Core 2 Duo) - 4 GB DDR2 Ram - 140GB Hard Drive - DVD-RW Drive (Pioneer brand) - ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card with dual VGA cable (dual display capable) - Asus Case with 2 front USB 2.0 ports - ASROCK GLAN motherboard Note: running Linux Mint, a modern, elegant, open source, and intuitive operating system

So, is this computer ok for mining coins?

Maybe one of the altcoins, but BTC or LTC is not possible with this set up. You can get BTC trough other ways, see this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=525183.0 or simply buy them.

This is the kind of set up you need for mining these days http://www.sikharchives.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/bitcoin_mining_a.jpg
967  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 5th Mass extintion on: July 26, 2014, 12:19:27 PM
Of course, blame capitalism, despite the fact that we don't actually live in a capitalist society right now you also can't ignore the fact that we're rapidly running out of resources to build things and sustain ourselves, this is about survival, not ideology.

Capitalism gave a lot of wealth to the people, which allowed them to buy all kinds of products, and demands for a higher production. This in turn, takes more resources.   For example, in 1960s maybe 1 in a 1.000.000 Chinese had an opportunity to get a car, now much more would be able.
968  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.N. Says ISIS Fatwa Orders ALL Women In Mosul For Female Genital Mutilation on: July 26, 2014, 11:12:44 AM
Okay Michelle Obama, show what your worth! Will you stand up and fight for millions of women who are being ravaged by misogyny? Or will you be petulant and weak, just like your husband?
Every time you talk about ISIS, I ask the same thing -  what do you think we should be doing about them that we are not? Do you want us to go to war again?  I find ISIS to be deplorable in the things they do. But we created this problem in Iraq when we invaded under false pretenses and deposed the stable - albeit tyrannical - government there.  Under Saddam Hussein's government, women had a hell of a lot more rights than they have under the radical Islamic faction called ISIS. Stop blaming liberals for the mess your President created.

I wish I could like comments on this. +1

Iraq had a stable and relax government under Hussein but we had to intervene and ruin it.

The cause here is not the US invasion prior, but the amount of retards on this planet with a lot of power - who chose to do this to innocent girls.
969  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 5th Mass extintion on: July 26, 2014, 11:04:17 AM
According to a recent study (http://www.sciencemag.org/content/345/6195/401) scientists warn we are approaching the next mass extinction.
What are your thoughts on this topic, and how do you think that will affect us.
The most interesting part for me, is that the other 4 mass extinctions were probably caused by natural events such as super-volcano eruptions or asteroids strikes, but this next is will be our fault... We are as destructive as a super-volcano eruption lol that can't be good :/

Scientists need to publish articles, otherwise they lose their job. Often the quality is rubbish, but it's easy to understand - so that it gets published.  It is certain we will go extinct if we will not live on other planets. but on the more short term (5000 - 100.000 years), we may be well on this planet. Humans have spread all across the planet, so even in case of natural disaster some of them may survive.

http://metro.co.uk/2013/04/13/stephen-hawking-humans-have-less-than-1000-years-left-on-earth-3614602/

This isn't fake or rubbish in the slightest, it's backed by Stephen Hawkings, as I've stated tons of times on this forum the problem with our planet is our population is growing too fast and it can't accommodate us anymore, in order to survive we need to spread out and colonise other planets or live in space itself.

The population is quite spread. Most of the population lives in China and India  https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4e/World_population.svg/1280px-World_population.svg.png

I think the problem is that capitalism is not sustainable on such a large scale, with another system the world would be fine.

971  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin was tangled in the spider web of own lie, - The Economist on: July 26, 2014, 10:39:26 AM
Mr Putin has blamed the tragedy of MH17 on Ukraine, yet he is the author of its destruction. A high-court’s worth of circumstantial evidence points to the conclusion that pro-Russian separatists fired a surface-to-air missile out of their territory at what they probably thought was a Ukrainian military aircraft. Separatist leaders boasted about it on social media and lamented their error in messages intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence and authenticated by America (see article).

Russia’s president is implicated in their crime twice over. First, it looks as if the missile was supplied by Russia, its crew was trained by Russia, and after the strike the launcher was spirited back to Russia. Second, Mr Putin is implicated in a broader sense because this is his war. The linchpins of the self-styled Donetsk People’s Republic are not Ukrainian separatists but Russian citizens who are, or were, members of the intelligence services. Their former colleague, Mr Putin, has paid for the war and armed them with tanks, personnel carriers, artillery—and batteries of surface-to-air missiles. The separatists pulled the trigger, but Mr Putin pulled the strings............

http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21608645-vladimir-putins-epic-deceits-have-grave-consequences-his-people-and-outside-world-web

Yes, this is all true. And what west are doing to prevent it from happening again? Putin reign supreme, he can do whatever he wants, I am still waiting for some embargo for Russian, without much hope. It is like before second world war when Hitler did whatever he want with no problems.

Where do you get all these 'facts' ?
As for supplying the pro-russian separatists with weapons.. the US/EU is doing the same with the pro-eu separatists  Grin

973  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia is offering big bucks to de-anonymize Tor on: July 26, 2014, 12:30:36 AM

Two weeks ago the Russia Interior Ministry put out a call for a service that will allow Russian police officers to identify people who use the anonymity tool Tor to browse the Internet. And it’s promising 3.9 million rubles (equivalent to roughly $111,000) to whoever completes the job, reports RT.
..
The U.S. National Security Agency is also working to decrypt Tor, and so are others. Researchers from Carnegie Mellon were set to give a talk at the upcoming Black Hat Conference on how to de-anonymize Tor on a shoestring budget, though it was cancelled.

Imagine the people of north korea could communicate anonymously online, and say anything they want.. It would be revolutionairy.. but of course the NK government wouldn't allow it. The same for US and Russian government.

Quote
It is very easy to identify people who use TOR, you only need to check with ISPs to see who is connecting to a gatekeeper.

Agreed, TOR is not the best tool for anonymity..
974  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine's prospects for future on: July 25, 2014, 04:20:30 PM
Need bailout from the IMF or EU

They will get the bailout from EU / IMF. But at a huge cost. The IMF will ask them to reduce pensions by 80%, to fire 50% of the government employees and to make a haircut from all the savings bank accounts (just like what happened in Cyprus).

I think this will happen, they will go like the path of Cyprus. In the end, the Ukrainian people are worse of - no matter what side they support - than before this war.
975  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK to decriminalize file sharing on: July 25, 2014, 03:39:15 PM
Knowledge should be free in my opinion. Not everybody can afford things, does it mean he shouldn't have it?

Information doesn't obey any rules, it can be copied, redistributed, seen etc.. there's no way that that can be prevented.

Quote
The media companies have their hands in everybody's pockets.  You can't even show a Blu-Ray disc if you legally purchased it to a patient sitting in a doctor's office (i'm not even talking about the waiting room, I'm talking about a private area like an exam room or dentist's chair) because it's considered public display.  For that you need to buy a $667 (guess they didn't want $666) license from MPLS when they send you a cease & desist letter.

Exactly, this protects only a very tiny group and screw over the rest of civilization, including artists.

for anonymity even in the process of payment you can pay with bitcoins on request, but for the average internet user this is way too complicated.

My experience with bitcoin has been, it's easier to use than banks and paypal. I had never used such an easy payment system before.
Clearly the writer at Zeit never even used bitcoin and did copy+paste from other stories.
977  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin is an enemy of people ¹1: Newsweek on a cover on: July 25, 2014, 01:45:02 PM
The usual propaganda on both sides. So weird that people are falling for the same shit over and over through many generations.

I think, because of the internet, people in general have become more criticial. Information used to come only from the government trough tv/radio. Still many people simply believe this propaganda, as you indicated.

maybe stunna is doing the fix price also to reduce the amount of spammer here i hope the pay per activity rate is much better than the rate today

I prefer low rates than pay per activity. Pay per post is very clear.. if a post is not constructive simply don't pay that post  Smiley
979  Other / Meta / Re: About the watchlist on: July 25, 2014, 01:29:10 PM
I am new to the forum and there's still a lot for me to digest.

I am interested in a few topics and intuitively add it to the watchlist. However, when I go into my watchlist I found nothing.

Later, I figure out that I can have a view of all my interested topic in the edit watchlist window. But I wonder if this is the right way to review them, I mean, I can accidentally delete them...

In my experience, when you open a post once it dissapears from the watchlist.
What I always do is to go to  Profile -> Show posts, and find the post I'm interested in. This works out better for me than the watchlist.
Sometimes I also bookmark a post in my browser.

.... extremism is not related to a religion per say but to the people that are ready to use anything that can serve their cause. And btw the practive mentioned above has nothing to with Islam it's more of a rite in certain regions ...

I think when we are talking about a FATWA, well, you know what?

It might just have something to do with ISLAM.

Despite popular claims, there is not one Islam, but different versions of it. Depending on which version has the most power in the area, it is either obligatory, preferred or forbidden. So yes, the practice has a lot to do with Islam.

More info:
Quote
There are dichotomous differences of opinion among Sunni scholars in regards to female genital cutting. These differences of opinion range from forbidden to obligatory. The Shafi'i and Hanbali schools of Islamic jurisprudence consider circumcision to be obligatory for both males and females, while the Hanafi and Maliki schools of Islamic jurisprudence consider circumcision to be Sunnah (preferred) for both males and females
