2222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: August 24, 2020, 02:59:13 PM
According to a recent CNN poll (as we know not really a Trump friendly news channel), Trump is catching up fast. The number of voters who would vote for him and Pence rose from 41% to 46%. For Biden and Harris would vote 50%. And the television duels have not even started yet. Trump could play out his strength in direct duels and gain further ground. It remains exciting.

Quote
Overall, 50% of registered voters back the Biden-Harris ticket, while 46% say they support Trump and Pence, right at the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

yesterday due to work I missed the final, I saw that Bayern won with just one goal. a shame for PSG I was hoping so much they would win their first champions! what to say finally this champions ended after so many difficulties, and we start immediately with the new edition! football never stops

It was a boring game for me I didn't like it.
PSG didn't play well, they have 2 good chances to score but Mbappe missed and he lost the chance to bright at this final.
They were so close but he didn't played well in the game that they had to do so.

Exactly... PSG played terrible and the shots they do had they missed by miles...
Bayern won and it was an overhyped Finale which was pretty boring to be honest.

They played as terrible as against Bergamo and other teams. They just made it to the final with much luck. I am glad that PSG did not win. Bayern played the perfect season. 11 wins in 11 Champions League games, that has never happened before and shows that it is currently the best team in the world. PSG as a team is overrated. If Paris had won, it would have been undeserved.

You wouldn't donate money to me so I could build a house if you knew that I will be charging you full rent if you needed a place to stay, would you?  It just kills me to think that those who donate will be charged full price in the future, for funding they paid for, in a University paid for with tax dollars.  This project is certainly a change in the right direction.

The projects "OpenPandemics - COVID-19" and "Mapping Cancer Markers" on WorldCommunityGrid also support crunching with Android devices, that means, anyone who has an Android smartphone or tablet can also participate and earn Bytes.

You can find the BOINC app in the Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.berkeley.boinc&hl=en_US

So, how can I start this whole thing on android. Laptop will be available probably next month but I just want to kickstart now. Hope it's not too late

There is not much difference to the desktop version. You just need to install the Boinc app from Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.berkeley.boinc&hl=en_US
All other steps remain the same as if you would use a laptop.
I crunch myself on my laptop and Android tablet.

It's a pretty good idea, but I just didn't get one thing. Can Byte be sold, or does the reward come only when an investor invests a certain amount in the service? Smiley

No, you don't need to invest to participate and to get Bytes. All you need is the Obyte wallet and a laptop. If you want you can sell your Bytes of course. Bytes can be traded among other things on Bittrex.
2226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting website on: August 23, 2020, 10:46:08 AM
The sport is one of the best way for earning money, I usually bet on 1xbet sport betting website, and earn a good money, now I want to be a partner to increase my income. Have you any information about that?

I would first check at the exact affiliate conditions and how they participate you on the earnings. There are two models that are very different: 1) you get a share of the stakes, no matter if the bet wins or loses, or 2) you only get a share if the bets are lost, if the bets are won you get a credit deduction, which can lead to a negative balance. I recently opened a thread on this topic where I described my experiences with the model of negative balance/carryover (but it is a different betting provider than yours).
2227  Economy / Gambling / Re: New online casino: Leo Monaco on: August 23, 2020, 10:41:01 AM
From my experience with casinos, I would stay away from this one. I took a rough look at the site and there a some factors that indicate that it is a scam site. There is no official address of the location, usually such casinos have at least a address in Malta, Gibraltar or the Bermuda Islands where they also got their license from to operate legally. Also as @dec2020mcl already wrote, they are operating under the 1668/JAZ licence what is the next indicator. So better stay away!
2228  Economy / Economics / Re: Second COVID-19 wave is coming...Infinite loop? on: August 23, 2020, 10:35:41 AM
Afaik in math you cannot decide a repeating thing is infinite only from 2 "loops".
Iirc from shool (loong ago) you need "reduction to absurdity" for this.

You got that right. The question was also whether we will get an infinite loop (not that we are already in an infinite loop), which is similar to the annual flu. The flu comes every year to cold season in a slightly different variant, so that every year the vaccination pot has to be adjusted. The same could happen with Covid-19, so that the virus becomes part of our permanent life. Or will it be (largely) eradicated at some point, like the plague.
2229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 23, 2020, 10:29:56 AM
I am having problems accessing old ETH address created with Ledger Nano S and MEW a few years ago. I assume it is because of an exotic derivation path I used back then. Is there any way (or tool) to determine the derivation path from a provided ETH address?

Unfortunately, the problem still exists. Is there anyone here who can answer that question for me? Is it possible to deduce from a given Ethereum address which Derivation Path it was created with? Thanks a lot!

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's possible to determine a derivation path based on a given ETH address alone.
There is nothing encoded in the public key to indicate how it was generated or whether the derivation path was used at all.

Thanks, but do you know it for sure? From my technical understanding (it's basic), the address is derived from an algorithm. So if I take a different derivation path, the parameters of the algorithm change so that a different address comes out. This should also be possible the other way round. The question is if there is a tool to do the reverse calculation.
2230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 23, 2020, 10:26:30 AM
what happens if XEM and XYM keep going

eg some people keep on the XEM chain, whats to stop them

Doyou have to burn the XEM to get the XYM

or is it like BTC / BCH you get coins on both chains?

XEM will still exist. It is not a burn, but a snapshot. Like BTC<->BCH or ETH<->ETC.

The tendency will probably be that after the snapshot, XEM will crash in price because everyone sells it while Symbol will rise in price. At least this has been the pattern of similar snapshots so far, e.g. NXT<->ARDOR.
2231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 23, 2020, 10:21:56 AM
It's UEFA Champions League Final tonight in Lisbon. It's Final between debutantes vs five-time winners. For sure, PSG will be a nightmare for Bayern in Champions League Final. Bayern Munich 2-3 Paris Saint-Germain that's my prediction. I wish you all a very good game and I hope that Paris will win so plz don't disappoint us.

As a real football lover, you can't hope for Paris to win. The odds also show a slight advantage for Bayern.
So I hope that Bayern will not lose, as they have done so far for all the matches in this Champions League season and win the title.

The provided information is fine. If you want to make a short film, you should not overload people with technical knowledge and information otherwise they'll get bored real quick. Rather more general information about Bitcoin and general understandable basis is better. For example like in this trailer for the documentation "Bitcoin, the end of money as we know it" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUF6klWuB38
2235  Economy / Economics / Re: Second COVID-19 wave is coming...Infinite loop? on: August 21, 2020, 12:42:51 PM
I don't think anything can be said until the vaccine is available. If the second COVID-19 wave comes it is going to be much more deadly than the first. The second wave will actually exhaust everything at the rate at which the economy has been damaged in the first place. the second wave is more likely not to come. Russia is in the process of creating the virus and is moving forward. if successful, it will be possible to cure the virus.

The problem is that everyone is waiting for the vaccine. The question is whether it will work as well as hoped. You can see from the annual waves of influenza how quickly the viruses change and the vaccine then no longer works properly, so a slightly new one has to be developed. But what happens if the virus changes in different ways depending on the geographic location, so that a vaccacine working in Europe does not work in China. Also, previous studies have shown that only very few people who had Covid-19 produce anti-bodies for a short time. A vaccination stop strategy is dependent on the long-term formation of anti-bodies, otherwise it will have no effect.
2236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 21, 2020, 12:38:16 PM
Lyon have already surprised many football fans this season by eliminating Juventus and Manchester City out of the Uefa Champions League, but Bayern Munich are still too strong for Lyon to handle as Lyon did not managed to create many scoring opportunities against Bayern Munich.

Actually they had lots of opportunities but they only remained as opportunities and none of them was converted to goals. Lyon actually did pretty good breaking the Bayern defense but they were very unlucky that day. There was this Depay one-on-one, Ekambi chance. They didn't had much attempts on goals but they whatever they had should have find the net IMO, not 3 or more but atleast 1-2 should have gone past Neuer.

Lyon should have led 2-0 after 10 minutes. They had two big chances which were miserably missed. If they had scored the two goals, it would have been very, very difficult for Bayern. So they needed a good action from Gnabry and already Bayern was leading which destroyed the strategy of Lyon. Bayern is more easily the favourite against Paris in my eyes. Nevertheless, it is an open game. I am looking forward to the match, could be one of the best finals since years.
2237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 19, 2020, 05:53:15 PM
New day new betting luck, after my bet did not work yesterday. Bayern is the clear favorite. If they don't advance, it will be an embarrassment after the match against Barca. Odds are not good overall, so I'll go 3.5+ goals for 2.11.
2238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT TYPE OF CRYPTO INVESTOR ARE YOU? on: August 19, 2020, 10:43:23 AM
HODLER. My motto is buy cheap and sell high in a couple of years. This strategy has worked very well over the last eight years. The key is to know when to buy and not to being afraid of volatile markets. There are always phases of depression where nobody thinks that crypto has a future. This is the perfect sign to buy as it was in 2014, 2015 and 2019. Now having a good bag of cheap 2019 coins I have a good gain since then. The market can crush down 70% and I am still slightly in profit. Same to my coins from 2014 and 2015 which I partly sold in 2017. I hold the rest which has still a good profit.
2239  Economy / Economics / Second COVID-19 wave is coming...Infinite loop? on: August 19, 2020, 10:19:25 AM
The much discussed second wave is here! While many countries e.g. Brazil and USA are still suffering from the first wave, the second wave has already arrived in Europe, after it looked like the crisis was under control for some weeks.
Everywhere in Europa are strongly increasing numbers of infections like in Spain, France, Germany or Croatia. Many areas are once again being declared risk areas. Will this be the last wave and if not, will it bring the economy to its knees with unforeseeable consequences to the world?
2240  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy restart big Boom and prosperity Coming on: August 19, 2020, 10:14:24 AM
The big economy Boom and Prosperity Coming.
There will be a lot new Capital in world.
Right now in australia There is crisis... But soon it will be over coz australia will Give out huge loans like USA and uk did.
We will see all Around the World that Kind of economy booming that we never seen Before!!
The magic word is SOON. When will that SOON happen Cheesy.
Most of the countries right now are in debt because of what is happening globally.
Economy will prosper but  not now and not until next year for sure.

It will take 2-3 years for the economy to recover.

If you Don't get Rich now you will stay poor all your life!!
What the F?? Do you need to say this for real? Not rich = poor FFS.

And cryptocurrency boggest bull run will go Wild
Just like the Winklevoss Twins said that it will be crazy. Yours is just wild Cheesy.

I believe that only individual sectors will recover very quickly. Especially the tech industry. The tourism industry will suffer from the crisis for many years to come. People will change their behavior. The virus is here and it will stay here for a while. And we don't know when the next virus will come. Countries that have a lot of tech companies will recover faster than countries that live mainly from tourism. Look at Thailand, for example. The country is dependent on tourism but has a ban on entry from the outside, which makes the people there slowly slide into poverty.
