1941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: November 28, 2020, 11:43:43 PM

interesting - so much developing and it goes down since x years

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/lisk/

is there any real chance to recover?

I do not see any partnerships and projects which could bring something up that could recover and push the price. The question is how long their financial backups are enough to maintain the development and operations. Based on their financial reports of the last months [1][2], they burn 275 Bitcoins every months and you can see their financial reserves melting like ice in the sun. I have made a rough estimate: If it continues like this, then the reserves should last for another 12-14 months.

1942  Economy / Economics / Re: Still confused why bitcoin is so bullish? on: November 28, 2020, 09:14:57 PM
Why should anyone get confused?

Perhaps because he is consuming mainstream media regularly which have told him all the time that Bitcoin is a scam that will be worthless anytime soon. Now he notices that Bitcoin is not dropping to 0 but is heading to 20k again. Of course, he must be confused.
1943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: November 28, 2020, 08:28:18 PM
What a surprise from Cologne against Dortmund wow , lost my bet there and at the beginn on the match Bayern Munich i thought Stuttgart maybe make it also .

This is the reason why Dortmund is currently not able to win the Bundesliga, even though they have one of the most promising and talented teams in Europe. In some matches they play like they can win the Champions League this year, another game they play like a team that should not belong into the first league. I am not sure why, but I think one of the main reasons is coach Favre.
1944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your Portfolio before and after the pandemic on: November 27, 2020, 12:49:52 PM
... But since i have many free time, i check portfolio more frequently and its a bit frustating, lol.

In my country there is a saying when it comes to equity investments (and which can also be transferred to crypto) if you have invested in good projects: Invest and take a (long lasting) sleeping pill*. When you wake up you will be richer Smiley Which means, buy and do not care. After a long time you will be richer.

* caution, this is a literally meaning, don't do this!
1945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Argentina raises Gambling tax on: November 27, 2020, 12:44:54 PM
Somehow I am curious what the demise of maradona will have on this subject.
I think this does affect the tax anyway.

Honestly, what does Maradona's death have to do with the Argentine government's plans to tax casino sites? I don't see any connection at all. The only thing I can imagine is that the tax might come a little later, as official mourning is announced.
1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 27, 2020, 12:42:13 PM
Hello ! Did anyone take advantage of this offer? The essence itself is not quite clear, given the market price? Does someone trade deliberately at a loss?
https://twitter.com/NEMofficial/status/1331617411485888523

Didn't know the service so far. But in principle it seems to be a kind of copy of changelly.com, at least at first glance I can't see much difference. Since I've been using Changelly for a long time and am satisfied, I would not use this short-term offer to use a provider I don't know. Also since it is only worthwhile if you buy really large amout, otherwise you tend to save peanuts.
1947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was 2017 the "Golden Year of Crypto"? on: November 27, 2020, 12:36:05 PM
Until now the records achieved in 2017 have not been broken, cryptocurrency took 3 years to pump up the price. Now the bullrun is back, and the majority of crypto holders expect 2021 to be the golden year of crypto.
For me 2017 was a bounty golden year, because almost all bounties that were born at that time provided satisfactory results for bounty hunters.
Unbroken record but can't quite keep its persistence. If 2020 or 2021 the crypto market more specifically bitcoin could reach ATH then it might persist longer than it was in 2017 or maybe go up even more.
It's such unfortunate though in 2017 the market was purely driven by hype and inflated assesment towards most of crypto not because its real value.

I am convinced that the price of Bitcoin will continue to rise and that the price on 01/01/2022 will be higher than 01/01/2021. This slump yesterday was to be expected as the price has risen extremely sharply over the past few weeks. A perfectly normal pattern and a healthy decline if we want to see higher prices in the future.
1948  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos Withdrawal Fees Rise (!?)|| November 2020 on: November 27, 2020, 12:32:15 PM
Most casinos offer a fixed amount I never used other platforms due to their high withdrawal fee.

Good casinos do not charge any withdrawal fee. I have never gambled on a site long term if they charge any fees for payout. I mean, it is well known that online casinos are highly lucrative and if they also ask for money for the payout (admittedly, the fewest users pay out because the fewest win), then that is already an arrogance towards their customers. But it's also up to the users. Avoid such gambling providers and sooner or later they will change your fee policy.

Check the date format ...

Bitcoin.org snapshot 3rd March 2009.

Source: https://web.archive.org/web/20090303195936/http://bitcoin.org/

Roll Eyes

Is it possible Hal Finney coded that client?

In your 2nd bitcoin.org link, Satoshi writes the word "synchronising" in the entry from "01 Nov 2008". Americans never spell synchronizing as "synchronising" unless they are being cheeky (my browser spellcheck even underlines the British version as a spelling error). And then he uses the european date format.

Interesting find. As I wrote a little bit earlier in this thread, there was a research project some time ago which examined all posts Satoshi has made on Bitcointalk.org (could not find the link quickly). In some posts he typically used British phrases a non-British wouldn't usually use. However, in other posts he used typical American English phrases and words. On the other hand, the timestamps of his posts suggest that he probably comes from the American continent, if one were to use the typical working hours as a basis. Nevertheless, many indicators also point to a European origin. In summary, I believe Satoshi were several people from (at least) the US and Europe.
1950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: November 25, 2020, 08:31:15 PM
Real Madrid leads 1-0. If they win against Inter Milano, Real and Mönchengladbach are very likely in the next round. Didn't expect that, especially Inter disappointed me a lot after last season.
1951  Other / Off-topic / Re: RIP Diego Maradona on: November 25, 2020, 06:07:22 PM
Sad news indeed  Cry
RIP Diego Armando Maradona
He was one of the greatest football players of my time.

Was this related to the brain surgery he had this month?!

OP, can you please be so kind and write his name properly, with one n?

Apologies.
He had brain surgery recently but his death is attributed to cardiac arrest.

That can still mean that there is a connection. He must have taken medication in the aftermath of the operation, which often causes side effects such as high blood pressure. His health had been damaged by years of drug use and unhealthy lifestyle.
1952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto Lived In London While Working On Bitcoin + proof on: November 25, 2020, 06:02:35 PM
Satoshi Nakamoto Lived In London While Working On Bitcoin + proof

That would make sense in that regard, as previous research has shown that some Bitcointalk posts from Satoshi contain typical British formulations. Which of course doesn't have to mean that he was really British or only lived there. My personal theory is still that several people are or have stood behind the psyeudonym of Satoshi.
1953  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Crypto live forever or die? on: November 25, 2020, 05:55:38 PM
Crypto is the next logical step in the evolution of means of payment. At the same time, this also means that it is only an intermediate step, just as it used to be stones, shells, precious metals like silver and gold, and fiat money today. Another development will follow on Crypto. So crypto as we know it won't be forever.
1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2020... Altseason? on: November 24, 2020, 05:39:08 PM
Yeah, the market looks as healthy as it ever has, including 2017. There's money going into projects with an actual premise and not just hype. Which ironically is making me hyped!  Grin

I agree with you for the present situation. But sooner or later there will be the next hype, especially when the prices continue to rise as they have done over the last months. The media is slowly going to cover Bitcoin and Crypto price surge again. So the fishes are slowly coming back into the shark tank. So much remembers to the situation in late 2016 and early 2017. However the situation is slightly different, we now have a lot of companies (for instance Paypal) and much more institutional investors then three years ago.
1955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino workers forced into unpaid leave on: November 24, 2020, 05:33:49 PM
Now we can see a perfect example that demonstrates huuuge privileges of online gambling and casinos in particular. I bet not only they aren't facing a crisis, while everyone else is, but are actually gaining more revenue now, because the gamblers never stopped playing, right? They switched to online  Lips sealed

Yes and no! Casinos in South East Asia are heavily dependent on tourists. If no one travels, there are no customers. The local population doesn't gamble a lot, firstly because they can't afford it (especially not at the present time) and also such casinos are specially designed for western or Chinese customers.
1956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 24, 2020, 04:54:16 PM
Um scroll up 4 or 5 posts. January now. Do you think XYM will command the same price as NEM pre-snapshot ?

Thanks!

Yes, anything else would be a disappointment! Symbol includes all of the technology that we have been waiting for years to be implemented in XEM and which also was the reason why XEM has been ranked pretty stable on CMC (always somewhere between rank 15-30) for years. In my opinion, they have also done a lot more right in marketing with Symbol than with XEM. But we have to wait and see.
1957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: November 24, 2020, 04:47:18 PM
Do you see any chance for an surprising underdog-win tonight? I doubt that we'll see anything surprising today. Neither Basaksehir nor Leipzig will be able to repeat their success from the last matchday in my opinion. Maybe Lazio vs Zenit is the match that can be the closest tonight, but usually Lazio should be the favourite here.

If you see Leipzig as an underdog then I would say yes. Leipzig surprisingly won the first leg 2-1 and since then PSG has not really showed good performance while Leipzig has been pretty stable. I see a good chance to go for double chance Leipzig.

Hello!  What price do you expect closer to the events?

I expect that the price will rise a little bit by the beginning of December. I think those who want Symbol tokens have already bought enough XEM. With the snapshot coming closer, there will still be speculators that will still get in, but I no longer expect a larger increase. After the snapshot, I expect the XEM price to implode.

This postponed airdrop of XYM makes maybe one more time bad PR for NEM, but i hope still that waiting will pay off,

Postponed airdrop? Did I miss something? Do you mean the snapshot?

Now 8% of them are thinking of switching to new jobs.

The only question is where to go? Tourism is down and almost all casinos in the world have a problem due to less turnover. And it doesn't look any better in other industries in countries in South-East Asia. Casinos are known to pay relatively well, so it would be foolish to change jobs now.
