1221  Economy / Economics / Re: Amazon will accept Bitcoin payment this year on: July 26, 2021, 08:10:05 AM
This is another good news as Bitcoin adoption is increasing year after year, there has never been a direct means to use Bitcoin as payment on Amazon, but there will be changes even before the end of the year. Amazon is already planning to add Bitcoin to its payment method, it was said that the directive is coming from the Amazon president, Jeff Bazos.

“This isn’t just going through the motions to set up cryptocurrency payment solutions at some point in the future – this is a full-on, well-discussed, integral part of the future mechanism of how Amazon will work,” she told City AM.

“It begins with Bitcoin – this is the key first stage of this crypto project, and the directive is coming from the very top… Jeff Bezos himself.”

The insider also explained that directors of the world’s fourth largest company were keen to move towards ticking off other big cryptocurrencies once it had established a fast and secure method of Bitcoin payment.

Great news indeed. But there is still some time until the end of the year. Who knows if there won't be another rollback as regulators target the new payment option. I recently started a thread here after Twitch (a company owned by Amazon) ended Bitcoin and crypto payments overnight without notice. So far there has been no official reason given.
Also, until now you could already indirectly purchase from Amazon with Bitcoin, just by buying Amazon vouchers with Bitcoin.
1222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Passive income on: July 26, 2021, 08:04:43 AM
Could you say this applies to revenue-sharing projects like the exchanges such as KCS?

I have been trying to look for passive income projects including those casino mining which holders are actually just required to hold/stake the native casino token to receive dividends. Passive income I guess but there hasn't been a casino yet that could be trusted, mostly are just a year or two-year-old.

Personally, I have not had a good experience with casino token staking. The whole process is too non-transparent because you don't know how big the casino's profit really is and what percentage they actually pay out in dividends. I rather go for DeFi platform staking such as Tezos or Waves. There are others. There the whole process of distribution is much more transparent and you have a minimum income of 5-6%, with a daily payout.

Pointing out that percentage of the casino's profit that we may never know from them helps us to decide.
So many users got into Defi too late because a lot of users here had said Defi to be just hype and it will be gone just like all the previous hypes. Today, even the big banks are looking into it. 5-6% daily payout seems very high and sounds worrisome already.
Which is worth Staking or Lending?

Sorry for misconception, the percentage rate is not daily, but anually. DeFi is just a term. The platforms I mentioned have been around since up to six years. So, they are very stable and not really hyped as the recent released ones, where nobody knows how long they will be on the market. For example, Waves, it was created 2015 and you have been able to stake your coins there for 6% anually since a couple of years, long before DeFi was hyped. Payout is daily. The platform also offers more risky staking forms (e.g. decentralized algorithmic trading) which offers much higher return rates.

Barcelona is very lucky to have such an unmatched player, Messi an example of loyalty. As long as you honor your club, your club will honor you. No matter what the circumstances, respect and love for your club must always prevail. Mbappe would like to show his talent elsewhere. Here, the difference is clear, that's his own business. The truth is that not every player will commit to his club until his retirement.

I would not compare the cases if only because the clubs are very different. Barcelona is an institution for decades, the pride of a large region and also a political dimension (read about the role of FC Barcelona in the Franco dictatorship). Therefore, it is understandable that not only Messi remains loyal to the club until the end, but also some players before, such as Pep Guardiola. On the other hand, PSG, a second-rate club that has become big in recent years because sheikhs have invested billions in it to boost their egos. The club is an art project. How can a player commit himself to such a club permanently?
1225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Passive income on: July 26, 2021, 06:35:49 AM
Apparently almost all DeFi yield passive income. Now, although we have bearish market, is the time to learn how liquidity mining and yield farming work to our advantages. So many DeFis are into it but be careful .

This is actually the best way to make big profits in the future if you believe that there will be a bull rally again after the bear market. Because now that the tokens are worth less, you get all the more tokens through the passive income. As soon as the market recovers and starts a bear rally, these tokens received through passive income will push your overall profit enormously. The biggest mistake most investors make is that they don't think long term and then they always look at the current $ value of the tokens.
1226  Economy / Economics / Re: ECB starts 24 month digital euro project. on: July 25, 2021, 12:47:54 PM
Their plans to create a CBDC have been around for a long time, even my developing country is already preparing for the realization of the CBDC, I read on the official Instagram of my country's central bank that they are in the research stage and it will take quite a long time.  Implicitly they did create CBDC as a form of their awareness of the development of BTC so that this will be a comparison asset for BTC that already existed before.

But if the Central Banks believe that a CBDC will stop/discourage people from buying, and using Bitcoin, then they cannot be more WRONG. I believe people HODL, and use Bitcoin because of two things, idealism, and greed. Bitcoin is censorship-resistant, and something that can still surge 10x more. CBDC can’t give you that.

Well EU plans to start blocking anonymous wallet transaction which they could literally make it a hunt for criminals not just for launderer that they usually say.

And then this CBDC although it will take a long time before they could come up perfectly, stablecoins might also be screened or banned because they think that stablecoins are going to be widely used than the CBDC.

Well the question is how they will implement this without creating a bureaucratic monster. The idea is that everyone has to know each other's identity when sending a cryptocurrency. That means you would have to know my identity if you want to send me Bitcoin. This is complete nonsense. When I make a cash payment, I don't ask the person across the street if I can see their ID before I make a payment.
1227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: July 25, 2021, 12:42:11 PM
According to a source, Bayer Leverkusen have rejected a £30m offer from Aston Villa for Leon Bailey (23). I really enjoyed watching him in the last season. He got 9 goals and 9 assists in 30 Bundesliga games. I think he is a player who has a good potential and he is still young. If he has another productive season, maybe we can see him at a big club in the next season.

His talent is without question great and he is still young. But he's been at Bayer Leverkusen for several years and he hasn't made the big breakthrough yet. I think he will not make this breakthrough, because he always draws attention to himself with escapades. And with the Jamaican national team, he doesn't have the best team to draw attention to himself in international competitions. For me, the best sign of whether a Bundesliaga player is world class (or has the potential to become word class) is when Bayern Munich is interested. And they haven't had that so far.
1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When sell holding alt coin in profit? on: July 25, 2021, 12:38:15 PM
I am thinking about selling coins after the correction, waiting for the the pump

This is actually the wrong approach or the wrong strategy. You don't know how long the bear market will last. Of course, even in a bear market there will always be smaller pumps, but these are usually lower than the last highs. You have to sell your coins when the bear market starts, at the latest when there is a strong setback after the high. After that it can be too late for years and many do not have the time to wait 2-3 years until the next big bull rally starts.

1230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: signs of gambling addiction on: July 23, 2021, 01:16:06 PM
~~
But if it only happened once I don't think it would be a problem, because some people will also stop immediately when they find themselves losing from gambling by spending all the funds they have. But if they come back the next day with the same misfortune and think of taking back what they have lost then of course, that is a sign of addiction which will definitely be hard to notice in the future.
If people are very strict with their own rules it is possible to happen once and of course it would not be a problem at all. The question is whether in general most people are able to do that? I guess no, to be honest I'm not really strict with my own rules, sometimes I also couldn't fully control my emotions while gambling and repeat that mistake again in the end Grin

You need to that most people are not that strong of character, so they often throw their set rules overboard when the body generates enough dopamine from gambling that they want more and more of it. That's actually the basis of an addiction, when you're addicted to the kick that's produced by hormones. Self-made rules bring this only with very few what, actually an external instance (e.g., the casino itself) should be obligated to it if X $ were lost that then the entrance for some time is closed.
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Passive income on: July 23, 2021, 01:12:12 PM
I don't have "have big useless sum of money laying around", but I keep some altcoins on Binance that worth couple of hundred bucks. I did not earn a lot, but still my money works and I get something. There is a good quote "A penny saved is of more value than a penny paid out.
Martin Luther". That is totally correct about passive income with any amount. Think about it at your leisure.

That means you're stacking on Binance? I hope you also know that you are entrusting your savings there to an unregulated company. It would make more sense to do the staking on a project that is decentralized. There are some good projects here, e.g. Tezos, Waves, Komodo etc, where you can get 5-6% for sure without entrusting this to a central company.
1232  Economy / Economics / Re: knowledge and Capital which is Very important in Business or Investment? on: July 23, 2021, 01:08:40 PM
Is it KNOWLEDGE or CAPITAL, or even BOTH?

Both! You can't be successful if you only have one but not the other. If you have capital, then you must either have the knowledge yourself to invest it successfully (there are a lot of ways to invest wrongly and lose your capital) or buy this knowledge, for example by hiring external consultants who bring this knowledge with them. Having only knowledge without capital is basically only possible if someone with capital trusts you and provides it to you.
1233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: July 23, 2021, 01:05:09 PM
Real Madrid do not have the financial capacity to bring in players like Mbappe and Haaland. Lewandowski is a good choice at the moment. But he will not be able to maintain his good performance for too long. On the other hand, Real Madrid's main striker Benzema is 33 years old. He has done well this season, but it doesn't look like he will be able to play next season without injury.

Lewandowski is too old to move to a big European club. He will either finish his European football career with Bayern or play another two years with a club in the USA or Asia (Arabia). If he still wanted to move to a big European club, he should have done it two or three years ago. Now that time is up. Also, it should be added that Bayern will not let him go at all because they simply do not have a suitable replacement.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Twitch secretly end payments with Bitcoin? on: July 21, 2021, 10:33:44 AM
Since we all agree that Bitcoin will not be used for payments of everyday transactions what is the reason to discuss about it?
Maybe some of you haven't realized it yet that Bitcoin shoots for digital gold, not for digital payments. Some of you are in this for 5-6 years, haven't you figured this out already?

It is more about the reason why they secretly ended the payment with Bitcoin and other crypto currencies. I agree with you that Bitcoin is not suitable to pay an amout of $5, as currently you have to pay 20-30% of it in fees if you want the transaction to arrive on time. Whereas the fees for an annual subscription of $60 would then be acceptable again for some.
But we are also talking about other cryptocurrencies that have been accepted, and where you have only paid a few cents in fees.
1235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can prediction results affect the actual market? on: July 21, 2021, 10:30:03 AM
I've been thinking that now there are many market prediction projects. I'm using X predict market for example.

People will be able to somehow know the market anticipation in advance. Like will the price of btc rise or decrease?

But this information might change participators' choices again, how should we adjust our strategy according to this kind of information?

I can tell you from almost 10 years of experience in crypto trading that price predictions, no matter for which cryptocurrencies, have almost no influence. Cryptocurrency trading is too diverse for that. And admittedly, most articles on price speculation and predictions are simply clickbait, partly without foundation, written by people who have little idea in the crypto field. If you relied on most bitcoin price prediction articles, you would have had to sell your bitcoin at $50.
1236  Economy / Economics / Re: Why devaluation of currency a big step toward economic growth. on: July 21, 2021, 10:26:37 AM
Very simple! When a currency is steadily devalued by inflation, most people save less. That means they spend the money and the economic cycle gets going. That means more demand for goods and services, which creates more jobs and more tax revenue for the state. In addition, the state can also borrow more money, because the old debts have lost value and so the politicians can make themselves popular with the electorate by additional money through benefits for the people. Therefore, a government never has the interest to keep a currency stable in value.
1237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: July 21, 2021, 10:22:40 AM
Dortmund know Haaland is being wanted by a lot of big clubs, so Dortmund would want a very high price. Sometimes Dortmund often bluffing,
by saying the star player is not for sale, but if the offer is big they will definitely agree. Moreover, Dortmund knows that selling Haaland next season
the price will fall. If Chelsea dared to bid Haaland at a higher price than the last bid, there is a possibility Dortmund accept the offer. But it looks
like Chelsea doesn't want to raise its offer anymore, and now starting to focus on signing Lewandowski. But Bayern aren't stupid either, won't just
let Lewandowski go. Moreover Lewandowski's contribution is very large for Bayern. It is likely that Chelsea will find it difficult to sign Lewandowski,
because Bayern will charge a high price if Chelsea are serious about signing Lewandowski.

Partly agree with you. If there really will be such a good offer for Haaland as currently speculated (€ 175 million), then Dortmund would be very stupid if they would not sell. Dortmund is in a good financial position, but has suffered losses the last two years due to Corona, and such an offer would massively improve the club's financial room for new transfers. Moreover, there is always a risk that the market price will fall sharply in the future. What if Haaland plays a bad season or if he will even be injured for a longer period of time? Then no club would be willing to pay 100+ million so easily. Therefore, Dortmund will think twice, also because it is foreseeable that Haaland will have to be sold sooner or later anyway and the market price will hardly rise more than what is currently offered.
1238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Qualifying Prelims on: July 21, 2021, 10:16:30 AM
Sure. By the way, yesterday Spartak won a small domestic tournament, and showed an excellent game, I think now it is becoming the favorite in this pair. Spartak is famous for its instability, but now it seems that there are no prerequisites for this, and depending on what the bookmakers offer, I will most likely place a bet in this confrontation.

Honestly, it has nothing to say. Winning a domestic tournament as the top team of Russia doesn't really show how strong the team is and what we can expect from the team this season. That would be like emphasizing that FC Barcelona is in a top condition because they won a small pre-season tournament of teams in Catalonia.
1239  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rothschilds have quadrupled their stake in BTC since April on: July 21, 2021, 10:13:17 AM
I have to add something to my post from yesterday. I did a little research and came across the fact that the Rothschild Investment Corporation bears the Rothschild name but has nothing to do with the family anymore.
The Rothschild Investment Corporation was founded in 1908 by Monroe Rothschild, but is no longer part of the family's banking and financial empire. You can find this out if you dig a little deeper but also Cointelegraph stress this in its article:
Quote
The institutional investment manager holds 30,454 shares of Grayscale’s GBTC, according to a new SEC filing. And no, the firm is not part of the Rothschild family dynasty.

1240  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rothschilds have quadrupled their stake in BTC since April on: July 20, 2021, 08:18:59 PM
The Rothschilds are likely the world's richest family.  They own castles galore in Europe.  Banks.  Vineyards.  Gold.  They think very long-term.  Apparently they don't care if BTC price has moved down.

I thought the Walton family (which owns Walmart) is the richest in the world?!
Long term thinking has been the main factor of Rotschild's success since centuries. They have always held or even increased their wealth, regardless of whether there were wars or world crises. That's why it's very interesting when they build up their Bitcoin stake little by little. On the other hand, I don't know how credible the article is. The family has always been very secretive.
