1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear on: July 19, 2021, 01:58:20 PM
That series is quite funny, indeed!

The youtube video you found matches the S05E08 episode I mentioned, but not the S06E04. If I find something I will post it here.

Thanks, I added both to the list in the opening post. Please post here if you find more scenes.

In the film "Integrity," a large amount of stolen money needs to be laundered, and they operate through such channels as antiques, real estate, luxury goods, Bitcoin, etc.

Can you give some more infos or can you provide a Youtube link where the mentioning is shown?

The Rookie:  Season 3, Episode 4.  Literally the opening first 20 seconds of the episode.

Added it to the list, too. Thanks!
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Polkadot Price Down – Time To Buy DOT? on: July 19, 2021, 01:24:06 PM
I can't say anything directly about Polka, but generally about the current altcoin market. I think you've also noticed that we've been in a bear market for a few weeks. Initially, prices fell abruptly and for several weeks they continue to fall but much slower. Slowly but steadily. So far there is no bottom visible. It reminds a little of the phases after the highs in 2013 and 2017. The bear market can still go further, so buying is currently still not recommended.
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear on: July 18, 2021, 11:05:21 PM
In Brooklyn Nine-Nine S05E08 one character, DC Parlov, mentions Bitcoin at 12:55 and then it's mentioned again at 20:09 by Terry.

Brooklyn 99 again, S06E04, beginning of the episode : Gina says that she could get rich with cryptocurrency by creating the "GinaCoin" Tongue

Interesting and thanks for reporting! This is a series I will definitely watch in the future. On Youtube I found a montage of scenes of Brookyln 99 where Bitcoin is mentioned. Can you match them to the episodes you mentioned or are these other spots in Brooklyn 99 where Bitcoin is mentioned?

1244  Economy / Economics / Re: ECB starts 24 month digital euro project. on: July 18, 2021, 10:54:04 PM
Haven't they been "exploring" this for like the past 5 years already?

Yes, they have been looking at it for quite a while and now seem to have come to a solution, but no idea what to make of it.

The Euro itself is a failed project. Everyone who is not ideologically blinded can see that. It won't get any better if they now introduce an e-Euro on a centralized blockchain and thus shift even more power away from the banks to the central bank. The Euro has failed, with or without blockchain.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: July 18, 2021, 10:45:54 PM
Despite being 32 years old, Lewandowski is still one of the best center forward in the world right now, but I don't think anytime in their right mind would be willing to splash 100m on him being fully aware they'll probably be able to grind 2-3 season more at his peak.]

The European Championship showed that Lewandowski only works when he has a good team around him. Without the passes that serve his teammates at Bayern perfectly, he never had such a punch before the goal. In the Polish national team, he does not have this, so he performs much worse there. Bayern would certainly let Lewandowski go for 100 million, but the question is, who pays this sum for a 32-year-old in Corona time where all teams have financial struggles?

Is there any news about whether Symbol trading is supported on Binance? Binance had supported the snapshot, that should also mean that Symbol is listed and traded on Binance. Coinmarketcap does not display any data from Symbol on Binance. Almost three months after the snapshot, I find that strange.
1247  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the popularity of cryptocurrency continue? on: July 17, 2021, 02:15:06 PM
Yes, people are already noticing that their fiat currencies are losing massive value. Inflation is rising all over the world, in some cases massively. This is also noticeable in countries like Turkey, which have an inflation of almost 20% due to their dictator and many are starting to starve. The demand for cryptocurrencies has risen sharply in recent months there. There is a similar development in other countries as well. Cryptocurrencies are a kind of insurance for the little people against a broken financial system.
1248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 17, 2021, 02:07:12 PM
I'm not so sure that the European teams were so individual-based strategies. For sure some weaker teams expect more from their star players but in general, I saw more team cohesion from previous competitions, especially in the defensive part. I was disappointed with France in this part, but IMO all the other teams were "teams".
As for Copa America, I saw a lot more aggressive style of play with hard tackles and tight defensive strategies. It seems that all of the teams put some more gravity into their defences from previous years. I guess that they understand a bit that attacking without defending accordingly, won't give them wins like it use to.
Copa America and EURO are two different competition with different styles of play.

Agree with you there. You can't compare the two competitions, because the Copa-America is not as high in quality as the European Championship. You have Brazil and Argentina, two top teams, and next up is Uruguay, and then there's a bigger gap. In Europe you have five six top teams like Italy, France, Germany, England, Spain, Portugal and Croatia. That's why it's less of an achievement to win the Copa America than the European Championship.
1249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH and BSC on: July 17, 2021, 01:55:38 PM
Here's page #23 in this debate, there. It's time to lock this thread because everything that could've been said probably has.

Both projects are still ongoing and there are continues changes we could take about so basically this thread could be open forever, since there is always anything to discuss.

Ethereum fee is now normal and I also see nothing happened to binance(BSC) and I also see many projects that are still using the BSC platform, but even so a project with an ethereum network will be better than BSC

Fees have fallen, but have not yet returned to normal. During the next run or hype, fees will explode again, so this is only a temporary reassurance at the moment.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: The first rule of investing is saving on: July 16, 2021, 01:04:51 PM
at the age of 20 years, humans do not have many necessities of life, so they are free to work as they think. that way they will have various experiences and overcome the problems they get, so that with increasing age their psychologically matures and finally they will have financial freedom at their relatively young age.

That's actually true, but it's at this age stage that people spend the most money, relative to their incomes. In their 30s or early 40s, they realize that they have little in the way of savings or assets, and then they become jealous of others who have, those who saved money and invest it cleverly. Then they start to vote for socialist parties that make everything worse.
1251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 16, 2021, 12:28:07 PM
According to rumours, Messi accepted to get half of his old salary and sign a new 5-year contract with Barcelona. I hope this is not true. He played at Barcelona for so many years and I think that should be enough. And as long as he continues to stay here, it doesn't look like he will win the CL title. Barcelona are far away from their old performance. If Messi went to PSG or City, he would win many titles compared to Barcelona.

And there's been some rumours too about PSG that they gave up on Messi as his demands were too high.
PSG Initially wanted to sign Messi, but it seems like Messi never wanted to leave Barcelona, which results to him signing a new 5 years contract with Barcelona. He first joined Barcelona academy in the year 2000, and have been in Barcelona since then. Also have been a blessing to barcelona, he have won 10 La Liga trophy with Barcelona.

For PSG it would only be a PR coup but it wouldn't help them much sporting-wise, because Messi is already 34 and you can't build a team around him anymore. He might have one or two good years left. And Messi has also shown in recent years that he is no longer able to lead a team to win the Champions League and that is exactly what PSG wants.
1252  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: July 16, 2021, 12:25:10 PM
My country is a poverty line country.. most of the people here living from hands to mounth. But my country situations very much bad affecting corona pandemic. We worstly affected by COVID-19 and today we all passing days with lockdown and and shout down. ...

May you tell us from where you come from or what your country is? The corona crisis affected many countries very differently. Some industrialized nations have almost recovered and hardly had a slump, while many less developed countries are in a severe economic crisis and have seen some horrendous inflation rates.
That is why it would be interesting to know which country you are talking about.

Quote
a 6.6 percent decline in Dogecoin ($ 0.19).
Amazing that dogecoin actually makes the financial news.  I can see why it would be news on a site like cointelegraph, but it's crazy that a 6.6% drop in its price would catch Yahoo Finance's attention.  The real news was when doge actually got up past $0.01 or so.

Why not? Dogecoin is one of the top 10 coins according to the market cap and has received a lot of attention due to the Elon Musk affair, which has driven many inexperienced people into Dogecoin. Of course, they are extremely interested in the future of the coin and crave news like this, which in turn drives Yahoo's ad sales. You could also say it's a kind of clickbait of Yahoo.
1254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the implications of Hal being Satoshi? on: July 15, 2021, 05:45:52 PM
No, Hal Finey is not Satoshi, you can inspect his profile and all his posts on bitcointalk forum and you will see that he was actually talking with Satoshi.

This is not necessarily a sign to indicate that he is not Satoshi. It is known that Satoshi has tried everything to hide his identity and traces on the web. If Hal were really Satoshi, then it would make sense to create two accounts that write to each other.

His style of writing is totally different from Satoshi, but he sure did help in developing and improving of Bitcoin.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155054.0

This, on the other hand, is more evidence that Hal is not Satoshi. There has been some lexical analysis of all of Satoshi's posts on this forum, which has led to the identification of various phrases and words that are typical of British English and typical of American English, which rather suggests that Satoshi is more than one person.

1255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 15, 2021, 04:47:10 PM
The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar in less than a year ...

That's wrong! The next World Cup will be held in Qatar in the winter of 2022, in December 2022 to be precise, so there is still a good year and a half to go before the World Cup and no less than a year. That would then also not work out in terms of scheduling, since the qualifying matches for the World Cup have only recently begun in many continents.
1256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 15, 2021, 04:43:10 PM
Getting a good offer from Barcelona was Messi's priority. Barcelona couldn't make the offer Messi wanted but still Messi didn't see it as a problem and accepted it. This shows how much he loves Barcelona and how much he wants to stay here. He wasn't very content about the performance of the team in the last season though. Barcelona must be very happy to sign him again. And they should work hard to be better in the new season and get some titles. Messi is trying everything and definitely deserves many titles also.

If Messi wanted to leave Barcelona, he would have already accepted one of the many offers from North America or Asia, which also pay not bad and would not have had to pay a transfer fee, so that even more hand money would have been in it for Messi. I think both sides are playing poker but in the end Messi will stay in Barcelona.
1257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bankers staking ETH 2.0? on: July 14, 2021, 04:32:39 PM
It is no secret that more and more banks are indirectly forced to offer such services simply because customers want and demand them. You can see this not only in a small, rather unknown bank like the one you mentioned, but also in large Wall Street banks, which announced in the hype a few months ago that they would also invest in crypto in the future. The only problematic thing at the moment is the lack of regulation. Should this ever come, almost all banks will offer such services.

I am thinking of running this tool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vuf4T308tHQ

I want to run dozens of instances and can run for years on my servers.  Maybe I can find something.

What do you think about it?

Forget it! Do you think that someone with much greater resources than you, has not already come up with the idea? I would suggest you to deal with cryptography and the probability and the power you need to crack any of those hashes before you plan such projects. Youtube videos convey many things in the crypto area as if they were so totally easy and understandable. You can of course let it run for years, but even then the probability of finding something is very very very low.
1259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Qualifying Prelims on: July 13, 2021, 01:46:07 PM
CL comes back! Seven days ago, the first leg of the first round of the Champions' preliminaries was played. In the return leg, we will see the first effects of the new rule, introduced last May, that no longer takes into account goals scored away from home: in case of a tie, the match will go to extra time and then possibly to penalties. I did some research and will share my next betslip:
Borac Banja Luka-Cluj
Hibernians-Flora Tallinn
Prishtina-Ferencvaros
Valur Reykjavik-Dinamo Zagreb
Buducnost Podgorica-HJK

Always hard to bet on prelims because you never know where a team stands. So basically everything is possible and the makes betting hard on prelims. However, I would follow your bets on a win of Cluj, Ferencvaros, Dinamo Zagreb and HJK. On your second match I would rather for a win of Hibernians because they played a good last season in the Scottish Premier League.
1260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Brave browser on: July 13, 2021, 01:32:36 PM
Brave used to be called as private and ad free browser since it was launched but do they actually completely 100% secure and private, I am not sure because we can see that the brave browser is tracking the users just what the chrome does but comparatively less. I am using both browser and I am not going to trust them when it comes to anonymity, just use the TOR which is the best for such purpose.

Don't be blind when using TOR browser.  For a long time it were subjected to the scheme flooding that allowed to tear off  anonymity of those  who have used it and  according to study of  "the four browsers, the scheme flooding vulnerability takes the longest to successfully run in Tor." Among browser under investigation were Chrome, Firefox, Safari and TOR.

Among other things, this is also the reason why you should use Tor in connection with a VPN* service if you really want to be anonymous. Sure, Tor alone has a strong anonymity, but it is not 100% guaranteed and especially in countries with a dictatorial government this can be your undoing.

* And no, do not use free VPN services which you can freely download as Firefox or Chrome addon. There are mostly no real VPN services but simply proxy services.
