1701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Has Bitcoin Failed as Money? on: February 16, 2021, 11:35:15 AM
As a long-time Bitcoin hodler, I welcome the current development of Bitcoin and find the increasing acceptance great. But the question arises as to whether Bitcoin can still be considered as money for everyday transactions or whether the idea is outdated and Bitcoin is more of a store of value option like gold than a means of payment.

Why? I try to pay with Bitcoin wherever possible. Fortunately, more and more merchants and services are accepting Bitcoin. Whether directly or through third-party providers. Here are my experiences over the past few weeks.

I wanted to take out a subscription to my favorite streamer. $4.99 payable with Bitcoin. Timely Confirmation Fees, $ 6.71. 134% of the purchase price. Even with an annual subscription, the fees would still be around 20-23%.

Paying my web hosting costs of around $30, Bitcon fees also around $5, which would be 16-17% fees.

The fees may be acceptable for buying a Tesla for $ 40-50k, but certainly not for daily payments.

1702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 16, 2021, 10:21:37 AM
The funny thing about the match day is that seven of the nine matches ended in a draw. Since the start of the Bundesliga in 1963, there has not been so many draws on a matchday.
1703  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome on: February 14, 2021, 04:15:03 PM
But dealing with custom ones is a bit tricky so I'm not even trying.

Oh okay. I guess you programmed the extension in Javascript. Isn't there a lib or something that converts any kind of date format into a timestamp? From time to time I code in Python and there is such a lib you can use.
1704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally, privacy coins are moving on: February 14, 2021, 11:13:19 AM
With the news from regulators, privacy coins were not pumping at all for a long time. XMR was stable around $140 for a long time, so does DASH and other privacy coins too but today it is totally the privacy coins time. Dash was pumped more than 80%, XMR 30% and ZEC close to that.
Is there any good news for privacy coin? Why suddenly it’s getting increased?

Why do most think Dash is a privacy coin? It is not. Dash is not that different from Bitcoin and is completely tracable. Dash recently officially confirmed[1] this. If you really want to be untracable, you have to rely on other options. I can recommend ARRR (PirateCoin), for example, in addition to the ones you have already mentioned (except DASH).

From a technical standpoint, Dash’s privacy functionality is no greater than Bitcoin’s, making the label of “privacy coin” a misnomer for Dash. We have reached out to @BittrexExchange
to request a meeting with their compliance team. Hopefully this will be rectified soon.

-snip-

It seems the first hash is your public key and the second one your private key. If so, you are good. To get access to your Bitcoins you need to import the private key into a wallet. I recommend Electrum wallet. Download and install it and follow the step-by-step tutorial[1] to import your private key.

I got the following message after awarding merits to a user.

Not sure, if it is a bug. I use the following date format: DD.MM.YYYY, HH:MM:SS

It's the first time I've noticed this and haven't made any changes to my board settings recently.

1709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 14, 2021, 10:34:23 AM
Tottenham 0 - 3 City

Mourinho, if  want to save his reputation it would be better to abandon the boat, he will not win anything with tottenham, at least not with these players
The major problem of Tottenham is that majority of first team players  haven't a Won anything in their career, they don't have that cup winning mentality, they are comfortable going every season with the mindset of finishing top 4 and winning London derbies against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Exactly that should be an incentive to get more performance out of yourself as a player than, for example, the ManCity players who have already won almost everything. I think it's more because the Tottenham squad isn't good enough for the top.
1710  Economy / Economics / Re: Waiters/Waitresses/bellboys etc just lost their jobs on: February 14, 2021, 10:04:14 AM
Yes, the world is changing, technology does not stand still. Robots will soon appear in many spheres of human activity. The use of robots is very beneficial for the employer; Robots do not need to pay wages, monitor the performance of their work, transfer to remote work.

But robots won't replace waiters and bellboys. Human contact is too important for that. Even in tech-savvy Japan, robots were abolished as service personnel in a hotel and replaced by humans because they couldn't offer what humans offer. Robots are increasingly used in production, but this also creates new jobs.

1712  Economy / Economics / Re: Mastercard Bitcoin Global Adoption? on: February 12, 2021, 12:03:15 PM
Mastercard did not announce Bitcoin acceptance in that press release. They wrote about stable coins they want to integrate. But they did not mention which stable coins. Of course, this will also mean a push for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but that Mastercard will accept Bitcoin payments is not correct at this point in time.
1713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 12, 2021, 11:57:40 AM
Liverpool won’t win the title now. They are 10 points behind City & City have one game less.
There are still 14 matches remaining, too early saying this. I know the chance for Liverpool to win the title isn't quite big, but we can't judge it too early. Now, we are better to focus on how the chance of Liverpool to get the crucial point in the upcoming match (against Leicester City). If they can win the match, they may keep the chance to compete for the title until the latest match.

It is true that there are still many matches to be played. But if we think realistic, I give Liverpool a very little chance to be the champions this season after I've seen their poor performance against City in Anfield. I expect the championship challenge to be more between Manchester City and Manchester Utd.

Yes, you may be right. However, remember back how Liverpool started this season. At times they were clearly in the lead, so it was believed it would be an easy Premier League win for Liverpool this year. And suddenly the break came, pretty much at the same time with the irritations around Salah. Just as something could happen again that Liverpool suddenly find their old form again and still finish the season successfully.
1714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does knowing your sport and teams really make you better at betting on them? on: February 12, 2021, 11:53:49 AM
Not really, because knowing the sports and the teams are the basics of the game, it's necessary in order to understand what you are doing, winning is a different thing, it's more complicated than what we think because of the betting odds set by the bookmakers.

The bettings odds are initially set by the bookmarkers. Then the odds change based on the number of bettors who bet on the respective outcome of the game and, above all, which amount they bet. For example: If the bettor puts team A on 1.5, team B on 3.5 and a draw on 2.0, and now the first bettor comes and bets 1 million on team B's victory, then the odds change significantly. Team B should then have lower odds than team A. This is an extreme example, but this is how it works.

Cheesy

Now it says there is 10-40€ more if you deposit a minimum of 10€.

So if you manage to make the 8€ in to 10€ than make a widrawal and redeposit it.

But don't know if it's available in your region.Leave a comment if it is or isn't.

I'm in Italy, if it's only available here I'll delete the topic, if it's available in your region leave a comment on how it turned out.

888poker.com

So you sold all your sensitive personal information for 4 Euros? Even though 888 is a large established betting company, I would never sell my personal information for a few pennies.
1717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: My etherwallet problem on: February 11, 2021, 04:43:01 PM
Can you describe in more detail what you are trying to do? All I can see from the screenshot is, that it's a contract issue.

I suggest to read this information:
https://support.mycrypto.com/troubleshooting/sending/gas-required-exceeds-allowance-or-always-failing-transaction

Quote
This error can be caused by a few reasons, including:

- The gas limit required for your transaction is higher than the block gas limit. You can see the current block gas limit for the Ethereum mainnet here.
- Contract execution for your transaction will fail, so the gas limit cannot be estimated.

In the case that the gas limit for the transaction is too high, you can send multiple transactions with the contract interactions you want to do, rather than to do a single transaction with a large execution cost. If you're not sure how to do this, you can reach out to us through the contact form, or reach out to the developers of the contract you are interacting with.
1718  Economy / Economics / Re: Still confused why bitcoin is so bullish? on: February 11, 2021, 04:34:46 PM
The fact is that the popularity of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin and Ethereum, goes beyond the community of cryptocurrency users. Cryptocurrency is spreading around the world and investment capital comes to the cryptocurrency market, where large companies invest huge amounts of money in cryptocurrencies. I personally am of the opinion that large companies, such as Tesla, which has invested 1.5 billion in Bitcoin, will not sell all Bitcoin volumes upon reaching a certain maximum, but, on the contrary, will protect their asset so that the value of Bitcoin is preserved, possibly forever.

Corporate America is slowly turning to Bitcoin and crypto currencies. Last week Tesla announced their Bitcoin investment. Today Mastercard announced to accept stable coins, what is a first step ahead crypto currencies. If they do, Visa and AM will follow soon. Also, Bank of New York Mellon' wealth management today announced that they will recommend their customers to invest a part of their money into crypto currencies.

And of course the most bullish factor is Lindsay Lohan's tweet yesterday Grin
1719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunters are getting axed harder on: February 11, 2021, 04:28:45 PM
Many good campaign manager before have retired from their job because they found many bounty campaign scam, delay payment and not have escrow for ICO and bounty campaign manager, so they try keep out reputation without manage with scam bounty campaign project, look now how many bounties campaign manager not trusted and we have not choose without joining with their rule exactly payment distribution, they try how to delay distribution and never give chance for us sell all coin and now sent payment few phase.

If that's true, then you haven't done their job right. A bounty manager should ensure that there is an escrow for the bounties. And if the tokens to spread have not yet been generated at the time of the campaign, other coins such as BTC and ETH must be made available as collateral.

I am considering  to invest in a token AME (amepay) i think that it will be successfull with the lunch of their ieo soon on bkex exchange, they have a great team taking a lot of precautions to ensure the project and token lunch success.
Here is a link to their website
https://amepay.io/
If you have other good altcoins  to invest in please share it with us.

Great team? I give you an advice, if you don't want to lose money, don't invest in it. What qualifies this team to create, develop and manage such a project? I have clicked through their Linkedin profiles and I would not entrust them a single penny. It's a typical marketing project again.
