1641  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BurtW [SCAMMER TAG] on: September 11, 2012, 10:34:31 PM
Up until a few weeks ago, I would have vouched for Pirate, I bought a few hundred BTC from him with MoneyPak on BTC-OTC in the last few years, does this make me eligible for a scammer tag too?

did you issue many bonds and promote his system to everyone that would listen?

BurtW bragged in my original giant Ponzi thread that he coined the term "Pirate Pass-through"  - he is one of the few that I believe knew all along what type of scam this was, and decided to profit by running his pass-through.

Easy scammer tag here.
1642  Economy / Scam Accusations / BurtW [SCAMMER TAG] on: September 11, 2012, 05:36:00 PM
BurtW totally deserves the scammer take.

multiple PPT bonds, put "Pirate is not a Ponzi" in his signature while knowing damn well it's a scam in the hopes of tricking the low-hanging fruit into shipping more BTC.

he continues to troll the scam-victims with this shameful shill thread created right before the Pirate collapse:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97094.msg1178786#msg1178786

profited small while helping the largest BTC scammer in history profit $5M+ and doing so while knowing what he was doing the whole time.  Extremely deserved scammer tag.

Hashking is a scammer +1
1644  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: ♔ RUSTYRYAN's 3.0% Weekly Term Deposits ♔ on: September 11, 2012, 05:26:24 PM
So funny this, and Dank, are among the few still alive  Cheesy Although I didn't believe 3%/w to be sustainable when the lending market was flourishing, and certainly won't start now that offers at 1% from the most reputable members are winding off mainly with no hope of ever repaying... but well, this probably means this is a young Ponzi, independent from Pirate! Time to jump in and profit for a while!  Grin (kidding)

unfortunately that was totally the mentality throughout the mods here, even up to the top mod Theymos:  this looks a scam, I'll just jump in / jump out and profit.  Fuck the hundreds of users that will support this scam so I can make small coin.
1645  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits on: September 11, 2012, 05:20:28 PM
I have 100% faith in Mr. Starr

I have 100% faith that OP is a scammer and is running yet another Ponzi, borrowing an ever increasing about of BTC at extremely high interest rates.

I also wonder what strings Patrick is trying to pull behind the scenes with his wife and other shill-type accounts like this one with 77 posts.  These may even be real people, maybe even real investors in his scam - just blindly throwing support to him, just like BurtW or Payb.tc did for Pirate.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat the Pirate scam.

Luckily it seems like through the hard work of users like Joel Katz we are slowly but surely killing the culture of HYIP scams on these boards.  A net positive for the entire community in many ways.

Go back to being a horrible poker player.

You just ran + defaulted on your own Ponzi scam:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=66802.0

angrily posting about poker won't change this.
1646  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why I trust Patrick Harnett on: September 11, 2012, 05:13:54 PM
You missed my point.  I simply said (per Joel) that it is more profitable for me to use my own money than to borrow money in order to lend it out.  The lending side works just fine - we have that figured out and do not need help from a noob in that regard.  People are willing to pay what they are willing to pay.  I am willing to risk what I am willing to risk.  Free market.  I am no longer willing to be on the paying side of the interest equation.  This is a personal decision.  Patrick and others will do what they will do.

you are a complete and utter scumbag.

Remember when you put "Pirate is not a Ponzi" in your signature to make newish users think the Pirate scam was a legitimate investment so you could perpetuate it a bit longer?

do you feel bad about doing that?

edit: see BurtW still rubbing salt in the wounds of his Pirate victims to this day:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97094.msg1178786#msg1178786
1647  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Tags- Pirate Pass Through operators ? on: September 11, 2012, 05:10:37 PM
As you can tell throughout some of my posts before the BCST bust, I was always trying to determine which category the various PPT operators fell into:

A) Stupid, young and/or naive, totally believing Pirate's bullshit:  I agree again with something Joel Katz said:  give them 1 time pass in this scenario.  I believe PPT operator Goat falls into this category.

B) Suspects foul play, but continues to help scammer make large money while making small money:  Now we cross into "criminally negligent" --> there must be accountability for Payb.tc as I believe he falls in this category.  He was instrumental in helping Pirate steal ~$1.5M in BTC.  he did so continuously for months and months.  Hard to believe he didn't suspect scammery and continued to promote his product so he could make a small % each week while sending the bulk to Pirate, likely knowing he was helping the scam get much bigger.

C) Totally knows what's going on, fucks over everyone to make small money while knowingly shipping huge monies to a scammer:  Under this scenario the passthrough operator is a high level scumbag.  I believe BurtW falls into this category.  Constantly shilling for Pirate, putting in his signature "Pirate is not a Ponzi" making these horribly transparent shill-threads ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97094.0 ) --> Dox him at the stake.

I'm happy to see that much interest on our project, even if the interest seems to have a negative touch.

To clear it out at this point, we haven't scammed anyone in the past and we are not going to do this in the future.
If you think/guess/assume that we're a big russian scam/ponzi/stock generation or whatever kind of bad buisness, I'm totally fine with that and I won't invest more time than I already did to convince anybody from the opposite/truth (and you should simply not invest any coins to our service.)
We're still investigating on a way to prove the investments without revealing too much information (any suggestions, please pm or forum).

It seems like the trend since pirate ran away is to be more careful with the investments, I like this trend, but i don't like to read 'scammer' or anything similar in this thread (but as long you feel you're telling the truth and got the urgent need to tell it to the world/forum, don't stop posting. i just don't like it Wink )
If you feel like, report us to anybody you know as scam or whatever title/word you find for us, but please report your negative experience with our service here in the forum, or tell it to me via skype/pn, i'm sure i can clear things out for you (if you're not completely prejudiced)
Of course if you feel like reporting a positive experience with our service you're also welcome to report it in the forum (you can also tell it to me via skype, i'll listen as soon i have time Smiley )

Have a nice day all
Simon

P.S.: Running buisness for over one year now, without ONE negative report so long. Just fyi Smiley

You stopped trying, so now I stop trying:

In Russia, Ponzi scams you!

Made a request to pull out a few hundred BTC several days ago. Happy to say that I just received a partial payment amounting to about a third of that. I think that this is a fair way to deal with the situation - in a possible bad case scenario the effects of any loans that could later turn out to be slow/toxic will be distributed pro rata amongst the depositors.

the fact that Patrick is slow to honor withdraw requests should be alarming to anyone involved in this scam.  He (and his wife) seem to breed a culture of ultimate, blind trust in what Patrick says.

The users that are caught up in the scam and don't understand it frequently lash out at me with hatred.  "Go away Micon, you are wrong this time"  So far I'm batting 1000%, and it's not hard to do because these are such blatant scams.

Anyone invested in this go ask a CPA to look at this thread.  Ask a lawyer, doctor, or accountant to look at this.  Ask a bank teller or anyone over 60 that is solvent.  Please, don't take my word for it - ask someone financially smart that you trust and they will tell you as I did.

On the side note, although Matthew scammed many people with his "bet", he didn't receive one satoshi out of it, so the damages are limited. But discussing this would be clearly off-topic here.
I didn't receive one Satoshi from Pirate's scam, does it follow that the damages are limited? Yes, Matthew made no profit from the damage he did. How does that show the damages are limited?

deliberately mis-managing another human's expectations about money makes a negative emotional impact on the victims.  This is what Matt did, this is what Pirate did, this is what Vescudero is doing.   Mis-managing expectations of many others in order for himself to profit greatly.

Reminder:

Cutoff time to send new deposits for this coming week's interest is in a couple hours.

Payouts will be made shortly as well.

Ryan

Yes, keep sending those coins to me.  Please never stop.  Doesn't matter that I'm paying 3%/wk and taking on as much new debt as I can.  Don't think about the Pirate Ponzi, or the other ponzi's that still affect this community, just ship the fucking coin toute suite.   Don't ask too many questions either.  I'm arbitraging, remember?

oh boy.

don't like the sound of that.   It's about time for this one to end too, and if there are multiple people waiting for withdraws, it's just super likely it's a scam.  If you have been waiting for more than a few days for a Patrick Harnett withdraw, please post so here.

If anyone ever deserved a punch in the mouth, it'd be you.

sounds about right.   the culture of stupidity that has infected this forum is mind boggling.  This guy wants to punch me in the mouth, when I have screamed to the hilltops to save naive BTC investors coin and to help mitigate the damage done to bitcoin itself on this one - why not direct your rage AT THE GUY WHO STOLE $5M FROM THIS COMMUNITY.

or just punch the messenger / whistle-blower, whatever.

1657  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: NCKRAZZE's Deposits - Low Risk Deposits with Guaranteed Payback Weekly @ 2.5% /w on: September 10, 2012, 04:34:36 AM
Mostly due to bad planning on my part as well as a large flow of coins at once and the rising difficulty rate, I was unable to continue my mining project and ended up liquidating most of it. Around July 18th, I had completely liquidated all of the mining hardware that belonged to the Deposits Service. I kept a bit over 2000$ worth of hardware for myself (which were my personal assets), to continue generating coins with. My funds remained dormant until August 6th, when I decided that the magnitude of the payouts was too great for the coins to be sitting around for. For this reason, I chose to place all the funds with pirate and continue to payout weekly interest until terms were over. As terms ended, I would not offer term renewals, and would return all of the coins to the depositors. However, in a sequence of unfortunate events, I was unable to withdraw coins from pirate, but continued to payout using the reserve fund, as mentioned (35%). I am at a personal loss now of over 2000 coins, but have liquidated my assets and will begin paying out respectively. I need everyone to understand that this will not be a matter of a few weeks or months, but rather, will be closer to a few years. At this point I cannot give a definite date that I will have returned all principals back by. However, my priority will be to return the principals. Once everyone has their principal amount deposited, I will attempt to pay the remaining interest.

I will return coins proportionately as they become available, but expect payouts on the last Sunday of each month.

standard Ponzi-stall, wash, rinse, repeat the Pirate debacle.

At this time I would like to sincerely thank PatrickHarnett. He seems to be the only honest person left on these forums. I requested a withdrawal last night and received it in approximately 12 hours.

In light of the slew of scams recently, I've learned a few things:
  • Don't do anything with BTC that you wouldn't do with cash
  • Just because BTC is designed with the possibility of anonymity doesn't mean that all tx's should be anonymous
  • Leave most of your money in cold storage

Again, thanks to PatrickHarnett for being trustworthy.

Did you contact him ahead of time?  This is not typical (12 hr withdrawal time), as I and others have been waiting for the withdrawals to go through and it is expected to take about a week.

oh boy.

Matt is invited to come on DonkDown radio on Wed. to discuss this matter.

I feel a follow-up interview to his first one is needed at this point.

I hope you play him some clips of the other show.

yes of course I will.  I believe I asked him directly "are you going to make up some weak reason at the end..." or something very close to that when he was on the show a few weeks ago.
