Can anyone confirm DAG file limitations using 1060 3gb under windows 10 vs windows server?

I am unable to generate the DAG (epoch 176). I fresh installed windows 10 without any windows updates as well without a fix.

Anyone having similar problems or lack of problems running windows server 2016?

if you have a GTX 1060, you should mine other coins. you are wasting your hashpower

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Is anyone of you guys has a radeon driver recommendation for this 11.5 version of claymore? O experience crash very 2hrs, need someone's help. Thanks

Adrenalin 18.3.1 (putting the cards compute mode of course) working fine for me with Claymore 11.4.
Didn't go to the 11.5 because i finetuned my OCsettings for 11.4...

Thanks, i will going to try the latest driver, I still using 17.2.2 of radeon relive, so the stable version is 11.4 is that right?

these latest drivers break fan and temperature control.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2574589.40

In nutshell, when you install these new driver for the first time, controls appear fine. In my case, the problem started after a rig crash (blue screen) and then after logging in got message that "wattman settings restored to default". Lost fan and temperature controls.

this is fixable by completely removing drivers and reinstalling everytime the issue happens but this is a lot of work so I moved back to blockchain drivers which are working fine for me.

Can someone please help or advise

Claymore doesn't show does not GPU temperature and fan status so I can't use fan and temrature related controls. Commands like -tt, -ttdcr, -ttli, -tstop, -tstart, -fanmax, -fanmin

RX 580 pulse 8 GB GPUs
Driver version 23.20.782.0
Driver date 20/10/2017
Radeon-Software-Crimson-Relive-Edition-17.10.2
MotherBoard B250 MINING EXPERT
Windows 10 ent edition x64

I am able to control fan and temprature via MSI afterburner

UPDATE

Updated to radeon version 18.2.1, using Compute mode now. Good thing that hashrate gone up by 2 Mh/s each card.

temperature and fan stats started showing fine until rig crashed.

and now after the reboot same issue - can't see fan and temperature stats. seems like some sort of bug in claymore.

Can someone advise if they have seen the problem?

Has someone seen the issue? Is there some setting in driver?

Update 2

Issue: temperatures and fan settings break with latest amd drivers once rig crashes for some reason (example power outage)

Finally found the issue listed here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2574589.40

it's AMD drivers causing the issue, claymore needs to update the code to get over the issue. It's pain in nack that claymore can't control fan, temp or OC settings

Update 3 - final one for now Smiley

the problem is with the latest amd drivers where in case your rig crashes for some reason, you can't control temp and fan via claymore. For me, it was also causing blue screen on windows 10.

Reverted back to blockchain drivers came in Aug 2017. Fixed the issue.

@Claymore - can you please test the compatibility with latest AMD drivers and fix this in future updates.

is your reported(mining rate in claymore not effective) hashrate fluctuating at all? Are you using oldkernels?

Try uninstalling all of the AMD bloat especially Wattman.

I like to have the BIOS flashed with good fam and temp settings.  Then that becomes the default.

Hi Claymore

Please note that 3gb cards have now reached there dag limit on ethereum.

problem now is that even if we start mining coins that have much smaller dags, when DEVFEE mining starts it tries to find eth which the cards can no longer handle so the miner crashes.

Please create more alternate DEVFEE mining pools for DEVFEE mining .
Thanks

The problem is only for Windows 10 1709. Switch to Windows Server 2016 or any Linux distro and you'll be fine.
ETH is still unaffected by this, though - only ETC, because it is few epochs ahead. But ETH should hit the 3GB Windows limit within a month or so. If you still got a problem - try using the iGPU as primary or get another card with more memory as the main one.

How to uninstall wattman only? If I look at add\remove programs, AMD software is listed there not the watt. Do you have steps?

This is not true. GTX 1060 with Samsung memory hashes a bit over 25 MH/s at 75 watts power limit? Wasting hashpower?

18.3.1 (or some 18.x.x ) with 11.5 ( or 11.4 ) AND fully updated W10 (Pro) is ONE way to go, especially for unmoded and light-moded bios cards.
all same but ver 11.5 with "old Kernels" command for "heavy" moded cards is another way.
Blockchain drivers with 10.x and under AND W10 ver 1609 is yet another, almost same result, especially for "heavy" moded cards.

Hi Claymore,

Have observed the phenomenon happening twice, once after upgrading to v11.3 and the second which is today, 4 days after upgrading to v11.4. I am only mining Ethereum.
The problem is, the Ethermine Dashboard shows miner goes down to 0Mh/s. It show miner has no activity for about 6 hours and then it start to come alive again by itself.
I was not there when the Dashboard displayed miner hashrate activity goes down to 0Mh/s. I also do not have any script file to restart miner if there is a failover or computer reset.
Windows 10 update is disabled. When I came back, I check the logfile for activities on the miner. The logfile does show that miner is alive, receiving new jobs from ethermine pool and mining. Good shares is increasing by the minutes. Another thing I am not sure now is whether the good shares mined are stolen, lost or have they been credited back to my ethereum wallet.

I have tried to post the Dashboard graph here but I cannot and don't know how.

Please check if it is a software bug cos it never happens on the older version before v11.3. My miner are very stable and do not crash. The only time I stop mining is to upgrade AMD drivers or Claymore software.
Hope to hear your reply.

How can this be?

The only thing you can do is just installing the drivers (but then you will have to enable compute mode in registry and/or disable crossfire in registry). Or use DDU to remove everything, make a fresh install and NEVER EVER go in Wattman for any of your cards. I mean don't open it at all or you will be busted again!

I know right? An 8x1060 3gb does 195-200 mh/s and drawing 550 watts measured at the wall.

i give up with the new versions.

new kernels keep giving me incorrect shares no matter how i downclock, it comes the point that its giving me lower hashrate already than the old kernels/old versions.

however, using oldkernels 1 with 11.5 also fluctuates my hashrate so much by 30-40mh/s less.

so my last option is use old versions.

for more info, im dual mining keccak with dcri 6.

This is exactly what I have found with my bios modded rx580s. I am glad I am not the only one. What version did you downgrade to 11.0?  Keep in mind what we are talking about is the fluctuation is in the miner or reported hashrate NOT effective hashrate which normally fluctuates due to luck.

So my options:
- try stock bios with new kernels
- wait for a fix
- use 11.0
- accept the fluctuation
