have you tried the press in firmly with a click trick that phoenix mentioned earlier?
This is not a panacea. I have done this on my bad board and it is still bad. YMMV.

oh this difficulty level is going to be fun.... good luck everyone!
30% or 40% next round? It just went up 45% less than an hour ago.... Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Yes that we know However will it be less next round? Or will Bitfury, Avalon, BFL, KnC and Other Bitfury/BFL/Avalon/KnC Asic Clones keep the network increase growing at 40% and above. Until KNC has said they have completely finished shipping, I bet we will continue to see above 30%. Hashfast has been delayed so that won't change in the next 10 days... Is KNC going to wait on the next batch of stuff being shipped at the lower price till after NOV 15th as they previously stated...the www.kncminer.com site says all units shipped in NOV now...was wondering if they we're just gonna shoot it all out w/o a stop between batches..to salvage ROI on the new priced 2nd batch units because of difficulty rise? again no idea ...just wondering Searing

Is it worth risking killing them for a few extra Gh ? You won't know they're done until they die and jesus won't bring them back then never mind firmware.

But since you mentioned it.. Ill have to point out that a few gh/s now is indeed worth it, yes, even if it cuts the life expectancy in half...especially since the bulk of your BTC are made at the beginning of the life of the miner, not the middle, or end.... also, while we've been chatting... now 273,274,281...

Comparing graphics cards to these would be nice, but it's not logical. No graphics card ever hits the market without being tested to extremes, they are robust and well cooled apart from extra cooling we all add. These cards have no history or testing, and many aren't working fully as it is. I did ignore your experiment as my experience is the opposite and mine runs lovely at 37 degrees, it seems folly to me to take any further risk with something to valuable that is an unknown quantity...but some people might give it a go and regret it. If they know the risks that their perogative, but quite a few here are dipping their toes in the water and may just regret it. It might be nice if KNC had some ideal temps for us, or ORSOC more likely....but I'm not holding my breath for that even of they do because they seem to have become mute of late lol The diff doesn't bother me one bit. We all knew it was going to soar when we all hooked up these rigs, but imagine how the people waiting for pre-ordered machines elsewhere will feel now watching this? Quite a few cancelled KNC rigs due to this, at the last minute. It's possible that with evidence they now have that these other large batches from hashfast etc.may just see large cancellations too especially if they ship late. Whatever happens, we're in the best spot now for a change..mining and not waiting or guessing like all the rest have to.

Because the ASICs are built on similar technology to CPUs and GPUs, it's reasonable to assume the range of permissible temperatures is about the same. The leaves two unknowns:
1) What temperature is the miner reporting exactly? Is it die temperature? Heat spreader temperature? Board temperature?
2) Should we worry about the VRMs overheating even if the temperature reported by the miner is in the safe range?

An update on my Saturn: My average has settled around 142GH/s at the pool. I've also noticed, possibly, why I am getting such shitty rates; 1. I have one bad VRM on the first board, and some really shitty cores. 2. On the second board, I have a bad VRM, and a non-functioning VRM So out of two boards for a Saturn, I've gotten the shitty luck of receiving two shitty boards. So wonderful... KnC's quality control people should be fired, that is, if they even have any. So this grounds my theory that they are no longer bothering to test units. They are just churning them out and sending them as they are, probably just to clear their back log, as they have already F**ked so many people over. I'm going to stop rambling now; I'm just too pissed off.

If the output voltage is correct and the current is low, it's not the VRM's fault. Check your VRM's for any physical damage. Check to make sure the plastic cover was removed from your heat sinks before they were mounted to the ASIC. What baffles me about your numbers is that your output voltages are so high, and evenly so across the board. They should be around 0.75V or so.
