Dumb asses, would have avoided the problem by adding 2 power ports tot he board instead of 1.

OR  maybe this was their strategy all along to delay the rest of the production line.

New email from KNC to all it's Neptune's clients:

From: Customer Service [customerservice@kncminer.com]
Sent: September 22, 2014 9:04 AM
To: me
Subject: Neptune - Y splitter cables.

Hi All,

Over the last few weeks we have received many comments from our community that due to some specific PSU limitations, users could not fully utilise the full potential of their Neptune miner.

Over the next few weeks, for every Neptune cube that you own, we will be delivering 1 PCI-e custom made 16 AWG Y-cables straight to your door at no additional cost (5 x Y splitter cables per Neptune)

This will open up the possibility to use a wider range of PSU’s that previously struggled to run the miner at its full potential (475Mhz-500MHz) i.e. the Corsair AX1200i and other commonly purchase PSU’s.

If you would like any further information regarding this cable solution, please contact support@kncminer.com

Regards,

The KnC Team.

----

I bitched in their forums like everyone else I am sure about them offering these 16AWG cables to people. To be hones though I didn't have any problems with my 1500W PSU's running at 475W until the stock cables starting melting at the PSU end. LOL - So I am not sure what if any the purpose will be for the Y-Cables.

it shows their "generosity", and gives them another excuse to keep delay shipping the orders (neptune, titan and bonus miner).

Maybe soon we will expect some news from kfc like "we are busy shipping the Y cables to our loyal customers, and we have to postpone your neptune/titan shipment"....

Besides, times goes much slower in KfC. they say "soon", it means "never"; they say "weeks", it is actually "months"...

I still haven't figured out the purpose of the Y cables?

The Corsair AX1200i won't power a Neptune module without 2-to-1 PCIe Y power cables. This is because the Neptune modules draw too much power across a single PCIe cable and trip the Over-Current Protection in the AX1200i. The Y cables split that power draw across two PCIe ports on the PSU and hence avoid tripping the OCP.

I was thinking later the other reason might be because the draw from two PCI-E connectors would be balanced so the molex connector on the PSU shouldn't melt. So I may have to buy a few more 16AWG wires, we'll see.

I do wonder whether this is my "fault".
I sent them a pretty clear letter >1 week ago (arrival last Wed/Thu) saying that I demand a refund if the Titan comes with 1 x PCIe 6pin. I've also made it clear that a fire hazard is completely unacceptable.
And I've reported them to an consumer authority regarding sale of dangerous product (see Neptune) and attached a few pictures of molten connectors.

It could be that KnC was scared and thought it's safer/cheaper to include Y cables now.

Shute, I should have waited for delivery and THEN screw them! At least it should have cost them as much as my Titan has cost. I'm not going to stop here. I want to be a pain in the ass for KnC - they deserve some love, just how they showed us, their customers, all the love they could.

KnC should have put two PCIe power connectors on each module, but I assume they miscalculated the power requirements and that's why they only included one.

That mistake made, they should have included PCIe Y cables with every Neptune. It's a cheap solution to the problem. Finally they see that now, and are sending out Y cables to every customer.

I purchased Y cables (from Cablez) back in July, so KnC are too late to the party as far as I'm concerned. They should have just shipped them with the original product. On the same note, they should have also included an extra ribbon cable (for the controller), as I had two duds sent to me. Also the ribbon cables should have been twice the length, at least. Or they should have just used a standard connector like USB so we could easily buy our own cables.

These cost-cutting measures are ridiculous considering the rig cost $10k, especially since the solutions (e.g. Y cables, longer ribbon cables) don't sound particularly expensive.

So, what about the new offer?

400 GH/s for six months for 249$

https://www.kncminer.com/products/400ghs-btc-cloud-mining

If Knc can deliver, that seems like a fantastic price for 400 GH/s hosted for 6 months. A S3 is around $249 right now, and the Knc deal also includes hosting for 6 months.

I would jump all over this deal, but I don't particularly trust Knc to deliver on their promises.

The price seems too good to be true, so I'm skeptical.

Please READ their T&C before handing over your money. Just flip through "Liability" and it'll set you straight again. They can basically non-deliver without compensation - at least to the maximum extent permitted by law. Rest assured you'll need to find a lawyer before KnC pays you any compensation.

...but thinking again... please order... someone's got to pay for my Titan refund if it gets through. Wink

Nope, incompetence - and they didn't care.
It was clear that each cube would draw >>200W, so why spec a 75W plug?!? Greed and negligence!

That mistake made, they should have included PCIe Y cables with every Neptune. It's a cheap solution to the problem. Finally they see that now, and are sending out Y cables to every customer.

I still believe it's not that KnC "see's that now", but that they were under pressure. I have notified one consumer agency regarding the fire risk and also threatened to return the Titan straight away. I'm pretty sure "burning cables" would be interesting to many health and safety authorities.

It's damage control of KnC, nothing else.

KNC Cloud is about 100% markup:

Lets assume their machines are:       .7 watts efficient.      Electricity cost .10      Diff jumps 15%        BTC price $400-405

For customers:

This  isnt too bad considering ROI is only 20% under even, which no asic machine on the market can even come close to claim.  Basically customers are paying $250 for .5 btc

Should make customers (payout from KNC) .5 btc in those 6 months with no electricity cost which is about $200-205 now.

For KNC:

Eating the electricity they only mine about .2 btc ($80) but they also pocket your $250.  SO its about plus $130 after paying customer .5 btc ($200 value)

   400GH/s BTC cloud mining
C400
400 GH/s for six (6) months at 249 USD ≈ 0.6 USD/GHs
(≈ 41USD if calculated as a monthly expense).
This is powerful Bitcoin mining made easy.
Our 24/7 polar night, midnight sun location features:
* No fiddly maintenance - set it and forget it.
* Up-to-the-minute stats with graphs on mining history.
* Individual payout threshold settings.
* One-click calculation of sharing balance among addresses.
* Split payouts onto multiple addresses automagically.
* Statistically stable output with KnC:s 10+PH/s Clear Sky Pool (PPS).
* No hidden fees (no setup costs, no maintenance fee, no pool fee, no electricity fee). The price we market is the price you pay.
* No ”+-5% fluctuation” (we absorb fluctuations with our margin mining on top of the pool) - the gigahash you pay for is the gigahash you get.
* 2-factor authentication & SSL-protection.
All applicable costs are included in the packaged contracts. The price we market is the price you pay.
These online mining contracts are payable in bitcoin and litecoin and sold as full 6-months packages. Activation immediately upon full payment is confirmed by our staff. This offer is only available in select territories (we're working to expand that list) and for a limited time. When ordering our web shop will alert you if you're ordering from a territory to which we can not yet deliver.

OK I posted on the KNC Forums and sent KNC emails to info@kncminer.com and sales@kncminer.com

asking the following (Not a frigging chance in hell..but had to ask don't ya know)

I asked to convert my KNC TITAN (NO ROI & NO REFUND) 300mh 1st batch (has not shipped yet) $10,131.80
unit to the ARCTIC CLOUD HASHING AT ...as they state below

400 GH/s for six (6) months at 249 USD ≈ 0.6 USD/GHs

IF (again frigging no chance in hell but had to ask)

$10,131.80 at the above ..they ALLOWED SUCH A TRANSFER (I know unicorn land) that would be

16275.98393574297 or 16.276TH rather then my puny batch 1 Titan (again I know pigs will fly before they do this)

and it activates IMMEDIATELY  the arctic cloud that is

well hell....a nice day dream but unfortunately my Titan 1st batch NO ROI 300mh unit is what likely PAID FOR

the arctic cloud hashing and in KNC's deluded view..they probably assume after no longer making equipment anymore

except for their arctic cloud hosting operations we will run off and buy from them again so they can get both the

Titan no roi out of us and the cloud hashing later

actually this is sad..this would be a way to show GAWMINERS up and get some respect back for KNC but again

it is not gonna happen I had to ask don't ya know and post it here for others to bug them with

this idea..but I'm afraid they are too far down the rabbit hole to the dark side to consider this

nice daydream though

20btc back with the cloud conversion is better than 90% loss on Titan.  But i doublt knc would allow, because they have the cards in their hands.

They might consider on a month or 2 after they mine some more, or when their mining farms become more obsolete as diff jumps

still daydreams are nice

news:

well kurt came back at KNC and said NO....here is the link at end of the thread (at least I'm making them sweat a bit..knc that is)

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/resellers-affilicates/general-questions/58823-coverting-my-titan-1st-batch-before-it-ships-to-arctic-cloud-possible

here is the direct reply for those who don't want to hit the link

Hi,

I am afraid that this is not possible. Since the Titan miners are due for imminent shipping, we are not offering conversions to our cloud service.
Please be aware, the cloud hashing service is only available for customers who are situated outside of the EU.

Notice the fact that it is only OUTSIDE THE EU that ARCTIC CLOUD IS OFFERED...the strong consumer protection of the EU don't ya know have to avoid
that at all costs

man these KNC folks really in the last year took a complete 180 degree turn down BFL highway imho..sheesh

and this whole argument is gonna look kinda moot/weak ..in NOV say when KNC annouces  its giant KNC Titan scrypt cloud mining farm

again imho if GAWMINERS can do such stuff as this to woo home miners KNC could too..KNC is thinking pretty short term imho...

places like GAWMINERS will now offer equiv hash offer home miners options..and play the long game .....if KNC expects its former customers

to go use the ARCTIC CLOUD HOSTING services after both their last miners made (equip) neptune/titan DID NOT even make ROI

well in knc's dreams....

well folks will  remember how they were treated on the last products

...so they ...especially if (i think likely) they offer scrypt miner farm with Titans nov/dec say.....well......all of what

I say will be correct I'm sad to say

live an learn..got burnt by knc got refunds from bfl/alpha tech and spondoolies .(100%  for those 3) ..a person can only dodge the rubber bullets so long w/o getting tagged

this 4th time got tagged...sigh

To me this whole episode with other factors like BTC price drop diff rises etc...means essentially Home Mining is dead...but if the asic makers and

now cloud miners think we are all gonna rush to their cloud services in mass..I'm afraid they are gonna be in for a hell of a shock....I just don't see

it....... even...if bitcoin and alt prices recover...it is imho just too transparent how the game and we as customers have been played (pre-orders) and seems to be (cloud mining)

with the game rigged in a similar manner....all just making difficulty rise...looks to me like diff will rise the same or MORE in this coming year

what was it 90x last year? or some such.....all in the large companies involved in either/both activities...are too into themselves and own profit won't last long term..

people can just make their own bets and buy coin at www.coinbase.com and skip the stress and drama ..will flock to companies making at least an ATTEMPT to be fair imho

I guess it now is like most industries the ones that really do live up to customer service will survive the rest will be squeezed out equip or cloud

mining wise...intent matters for the customer

anyway live and learn at only 3% of my entire wealth (incl house paid off) I can play with this bitcoin experiment to it success or to its failure

(lose only what you can afford) ...will get as much coin as I can but home mining will likely NOT be an option except as an occasional toy baby cheap miner

(like them lcd and whirly noises)

yep seems that home mining is getting deader and cloud mining is getting more slimy ......what a frigging soap opera....

as usual I don't know WTF I'm talking about..but then again it is compelling stuff this soap opera Smiley

well back to figuring out what games I can play in the Titanic (heh made a pun) if futileness and hopless gesture of getting my $$$ back ROI wise on my Titan 1st batch

well it was a sad attempt to see if KNC would xfer titan and pending neptune orders also to their new arctic cloud hosting service (hey it  had to be asked)

and as in animal house ....the below applied

damn I hate this optimistic windmill fighting I never win and always end up pulling splinters out of my ass Smiley

Got a further reply from knc sales

 Hello,

In future please send all requests from the email address that was used to place your order on KnCMiner.com.
Since the Titan miners are due for imminent shipping, we are not offering conversions to our cloud service.

Thanks

take from it what you will but it looks like KNC has a policy of people who are 1st batch or either Titan or Neptune
really take a hit ...from the above my guess is as soon as Titan is done shipping they WILL offer conversions of
the 3rd batch Neptunes to their arctic cloud service (at least to those countries not protected by EU consumer protection
arctic cloud is not offered in EU from what I understand)

best of both worlds convert 3rd batch and free compensation equipment neptunes to the cloud...and keep the equip
to hash that equiv hash for 6 months and keep the equipment

win/win

just keeps getting better and better don't it 1st batch neptune and titan folks

sheesh

as an example of if what I say is correct you would bet instead of your 3TH Neptune you'd get instead
for 6 months a 5995 instead of 3TH you'd get 9.63 TH

well if it is so good for you guys getting the extra miners and or 3rd batch for less price

as to us 1st batch 2nd batch neptune or titan folk ....well ouch!

again this is all speculation on the email but still ...can't see them not offering conversion in that they
can keep the equip after 6 months and can move their wagon faster to cloud hosting

anyway my speculation .....likely wrong

...

Been offering my service as a jurist to 2 users in the thread, but after i´ve sent my hourly rate they have vanished.
Seems like the Titan customers is willing to take the risk instead of their cold hard cash back.  Grin

How about 10-15% in case of success ?!
..instead of asking  for money up front....as non-trusted user in a forum where too much scams take place...

I charge 100 Euro / hour and no retainer fee. If you can find legal service cheaper in Scandinavia then go for it.  Roll Eyes
I´m not asking for money up front, you can use a escrow service of any choice.

Perhaps people are already fed up with scams.  Do you come with a guarantee?

I can´t guarantee any outcome, that would be irresponsible and unethical of me.
The desired outcome heavily depends on if you´re European citizen or not. I´m confident KnC would rather process refunds than meet me in court thou  Grin

I would have considered it but that cheese-eatin' grin at the end of each of your posts gives me the willies.
Are European consumer protection laws applied differently based on country of origin?  Seems odd.
