Several of us are wondering about why the payouts on block 17605 went down so low.  Many of us are down 25x. :/

(...)

Yes, that seems really strange to me as well. It might just be the side effect of the scoring algorithm, but this one block seems so much out of normal there might some other reason.
In my case, the reward from block is 3% of my earning from the previous block, although all 3 of my miners were constantly hashing.

Seems I am not the only one wondering...  Does anybody have any idea/theory?

Cheers,
   T

The score resets at certain intervals. It reset just before the block was found meaning slower miners would be on a very low score.

K.

I have read the details of the reward calculation. Even without a periodic reset, the exponential nature of the calculation would be effective against pool hopping, correct?
Do you know for a fact, that scores were reset just immediately before the end of the block?
My fastest miner is around 800MHash/s, I know there are beefier rigs out there but 3% is really out of normal, isn't it?

Cheers,
   T

I'm maybe wrong but before the ddos the pool rate was around 8-8.5TH/s now is nearly 10

pool rate up 12%, my reward down 30%, my hash rate up 2%

Was 8.5 when i was getting my normal reward, now 9.7 and im down ~30%

Pool luck is down to 51%, Just stick with it and probability dictates it will even out.

It was up to 160% right after DDoS, I was raking it in Smiley

Yeah, I happened to be watching - I was gutted.

They're not lost, the score determines how much you get a share, when it resets, faster miners who get a few shares quickly will take the lions share.

In the ' Theory ' catagory.... shear hash rate vs miners for the last 2 days cpu mining not one share ( which is odd as i am getting used to short blocks with 4 shares and 0.00 payout ).
the shear volume of hashes vs shares lately means it won't drop below the 9 mill shares/round that makes it so I get something CPU mining.  This is not me being all cry babyish over only affording CPU mining, this is me at the bottom of the perspective saying hey look how much is wayyyy above me keeping me from getting another 0.00000001 BTC and happy for the shear volume in this pool.

Good for all of ya that get the GHash/sec to keep any one pool under the 51% and to keep BTC a reliable currency.

Always looking for donations even as low as 1uBTC

So your saying my 3Ghash are slow and thats why im getting nothing?

And all the people mining <1Ghash are the same.

Is there anybody here who got a real reward on this block

joolzg,

here are the details of how the score based rewarding works: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg50002#msg50002
This is to prevent pool hopping / protect "honest miners".

Additionally, the scores are reset periodically, as Kruncha said - this reset has bitten us right now based on his observations.

Block 17605 me also

But my other question is that before the ddos and now i seem to have a reward of 30% less. My cards are the same and my hash rate has gone up by 2%.

Would it be possible to get a maintenance mode? Yesterday I had to wait for more then 4 hours for block to end so I could shout down miners for some maintenance. I'm not asking for much but to be able to use this option 1 per mount and rewords would be calculated not with slash method but with some other more linear one for block when it was started... Or maybe with slash but it would use the time of the start of maintenance mode as a end of a block... If this is too difficult I understand and I have a work around. When I plan to do that and I don't forget I switch to BTC Guild and PPS at earlier time so I can turn down miners whenever I like. But I would like to see a way to do it without waiting for the end of a block.

Perhaps a better way to ask would be "Slush can we have PPS here to and I don't mind paying a little extra. Please?"

However on average it doesn't matter when you shut your miners down for maintenance if it's often enough. Over time, your earnings will be than better than on a PPS pool with a greater fee.

Good idea. Switch to PPS at the end of the block option...
b
Well, no. Because payout is proportional, you'd have to have PPS from the start of a block.

And if you look from statistical point solo would be the best way to go. Did any of that in near past?

No. Why?
OK we tough the same thing... So yes when the block finish it switches automatic to PPS... And I wouldn't care if it is limited to lets say 1 day per mount.

Why solo. It is best long turn solution. Best payout... Since you told me that if I'm doing enough maintenance it doesn't mater...
