I woke up yesterday to find there was a problem with slush's pool ... went to bed yesterday with that problem on its way to being solved, and I wake today to find that problem solved. Slush's response to this attack has been (at least in my personal experience) light years faster than the responses of major corporations with their web site problems. So, without further adieu, GLASSES UP FOR SLUSH (I will wait however until I get back from today's town run as it may affect my driving). Many thanks to Slush.

I just finished an 18-part video tutorial on Amazon AWS -- makes me appreciate what slush did to move everything from OVH to EC2 and get things running again in such a short time.  He could do consulting!

To better explain, that average hashrate at the top is an average of all workers over the last 10 rounds.  So if you went down for any period of time during the last 10 rounds your average will be affected.

You will see it climb back up to normal as new blocks are found. At least as long as you continue mining at the same rate...

And I would recommend others do the same!!! Anyone who has had questions answered, anyone who mined throughout the entire website outage, etc.  SLUSH HAS BUSTED HIS BUT FOR ALL OF US.  As far as I'm concerned that's the best way for us to return the favor and help him out.

In alot of ways you are right! And I have a huge amount of respect for the guy!
But this is also I expect a job for him.
Ignoring the GetWork users and presuming everyone pays 2% thats $1000 dollars a day. And its 365 days a year.
Even if the server fees are half that he's still doing alright for himself! Invest the money in a new miner then you and him benefit!

Yeah, running this pool is his business, right?  He is being compensated.

But how about you?  In your job, have you ever put out way more than your customers (or your boss) expected?  Did you get a little something extra in your pay, or a good tip, for the effort, or did you just get a "Thanks, great effort -- now get back to work" for your reward?  Which situation would motivate you more?

No one will force you to leave a tip on the table, but take a surf through the forums and compare slush with the peeps running 50BTC and BTC Guild.  They are much better compensated at 3%-5% in fees, but my non-scientific assessment is that they give poorer service.

5120-01-518-6126: Mining is optional, but Slush's pool pays off best of all pools I've ever mined for. Not to mention the dedication and great attitude of it's owner.

I like to think of a mining pool as a cooperative, a win-win thing. That also means we all share the bad days.

Something happened with the pool between 17701 and 17702 which was unfortunately at the end of a block.  I know it was the pool it was current shares CDF stuck for about 5 minutes.

I think Slush mentioned earlier that it takes some time for all the calculations to finish.. I see the same as you so, but 17702 has been found as well, so I'll give it some time (and i'll try not to press F5 every 2 seconds, because that doesn't help ;-))

I was lurking on the forum for a while, without any registration, but i have registered to congratulate Slish for the great work done in (not the first one) situation like this. Well done Slush and respect!
Yes, it's his business, but the reaction in critical situations makes the difference between A and B ... A hides (and denies) the brakein until it's too late, while B is clear and do it's best to minimize impact - i'll trust B more than A, because he gives me more info and chance to protect myself too.

As a side note, the hosting except being (hopefully) more secure is much better with regards to delay/routing accessibility - i am using load balancing between several pools and was mining with 80-120MH/s before, but it's stable at 145MH/s now
