Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Probably, because you have stopped mining at the end of the round ... compare the number of shares for similar round (or two) duration - for example 21402 and 21403 together are exactly the same time as 21355, so if you have less shares in 21355 that is the reason for your 0 reward.
This is the most common (and probably the only) cause with Slush pool. Some people do not read or understand the way it works, but then complain about nonexistent pool problems

However, I was comaring indeed. I saw by my self when the round was over. Which means, that statistics about the round show wrong information.

I have received a few of the none rewards like everyone else, I know for a fact that my equipment is working 24/7. As far as I can tell these issues have always been sorted by Slush within a day or two.

Even when that is true, i still have calculated 700k shares in that round, so i still have the right for my share.

Not true because your reward drops much faster if you stop mining. This is to prevent pool-hoping but I think it's working real good in operator's favor. I don't think the missing reward go to other miners, it goes to the owner.

Which also makes Slush useless for backup pool because if my pool goes down and my equipment switches to Slush for a bit, I will likely not finish a round before my main pool comes back online and miners switch back. So essentially mining for pool owner's new sports car.

The more I read this thread and lack of responsibility from Slush the more I hate Slush. Outright theft and most people are ok with that. I want that kind of blind loyalty.

Not true, because 'the block reward + fees - poll fee' is divided based on each miners score compared to the total score. The only reward that Slush gets is the pool fee.

This is true. Slush aims at full time miners using other pools as backups, not the opposite.

Theft - No.
Loyalty - Yes
Blind - No. Slush have proved to be scrupulous in the last 2+ years (since I am mining here). A bit slower in fixing things lately, but always fixing them right.

Everything you wrote other than the first sentence is wrong. The entire payout (minus fees) is distributed to miners. The score for each miner is calculated, and then the reward is split.

The expected value of hashing on Slush's pool for 5 minutes twice a day for two weeks is exactly the same as hashing there for 140 minutes consecutively. The variance will be higher, but it's just as possible to catch the end of a block and earn way more than PPS for that 5 minutes of work as it is to not hit any and have low rewards.

Are some blocks still not being counted? I had one that was 6-7 rounds ago listed as "NONE" for the reward. It now has a reward but my total hasn't gone up.

It's easy to tell who the veteran miners are vs. the newcomers.  I've never posted in this thread, but I've been mining with Slush for about a year now-- long enough to understand that there are sometimes glitches and that they rarely go unfixed.  It's so obvious that many of the users crying foul lately have never taken the time to study the mechanics of Slush pool (reward system, payout etc) nor do they have any idea who Slush is or what he has contributed to the bitcoin ecosystem.  Those accusing Slush of being a thief or pocketing your rewards need to stop and realize he is essentially the pioneer of cooperative mining as we know it.  People need to stop and think:  Maybe the pool just has issues as of late.... Maybe there isn't someone just trying to rip me off.  Is a glitchy pool grounds to leave?  Absolutely.  Grounds to accuse someone of thievery and malice?  Hardly.

Just my 2 cents.  In other news, pool luck is recovering.  That is nice.

some of the errors are also down to poor internet connections and ISP servers wobbling.  There are a lot of connections between workrooms and the pool servers.
For a text file like an email, the system can correct the missing data.   For a string of encrypted bitcoin hash arriving late, there is no recovery.

I see, I too am also here for about a year now mining since the pool was only 2.5 TH/s.... now at 600 TH/s things has changed a lot with ASICs kicking GPUs miners off the network, and increasing the difficulty.

I remember when the difficulty was below 3 million. As for glitches they fix on their own, and as expect from the last glitch, if fixed itself. I am happy to have been mining on this pool for over a year now.

-Cheers

Hate slush? If it weren't for him you'd be solo mining. Long live king slush. The fact is simple; he's kind of a bitcoin saint and doesn't have time to deal with this 710 page forum.

Do you even mine?
