You are right, I forgot to do the conversion of power from 12 volts to 5 volts. No conversion is perfect 100% most DC to DC converters run around 86-92% efficiency. This is reflected in there 5 volt 2.1 amp per port spec. So instead of 120 watts (12X10), you will only get 105 watts total (2.1X10X5), maximum power. You never want to run at maximum power for extended amounts of time as you do with miners so the 105 watts should be derated by about 10% or so. So this would give you about 1.9 amps per port continually. When really you should have 2.3-2.5 amps per port to run these things full out. One thing I noticed about the Sipolar A-400 Powered Hub is one of the ads on Amazon had a picture of the board inside. That clearly shows five DC to DC converters inside. Each Converter current should be capable of putting out 4.2 amps each. It looks like each converter is hooked up to two ports. So if you only use 5 of the ten ports you can get 4.2 amps out of each set which is way more then enough to run 5 MoonLands at full bore. Here is how they are internally connected inside to each of the 5 DC to DC converters. 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 10, 9 and 8, and 7 and 6. So if you want to run full bore only use one port of each set.

I have not seen it opened up yet, any chance you remember the site?

I also have a 2nd power supply, rated 150watts. Couldn't i just use that? (In other words, do you perhaps know if the used converters can handle more than 4.2 Wink)

What am i missing here?
zpool has too high worker diff for these to work.. they just time out.

Thanks for your answer. So do i understand this right, even if i throw 12 (like i do) or 1200 MLDs at zpool, they won't get any work?

they'll get work but I'd imagine they'd be highly unlikely to find a share in time

use a pool with a lower difficulty or one where you can set a static difficulty there's a few about

The way i got mine running now is using ports 5+10 and port 9. So they are already connected to 1 converter with ports 5+10 and run great.

In regards to the maximum output of the power supply, i already was planning to plug in 8 MLD's maximum so i won't push the supply to far. (8x12=96 watts)

Once i have the extra MLD's in (shipping takes quite long from Bitshopper unfortunately.. they said 2-4 days but all together it's nearly 2 weeks before i'll have them) i can put the hub to the test and i'll let you guys know. I'm considering getting 1 or even 2 extra USB voltmeters just to see difference in amp drawn on a converter with a single MLD on it vs 2 MLD's on it Smiley
I just order 2 extra USB voltmeters... What can i say, i like tinkering and patience is not my strong side Tongue

Got 3 units plugged into a 7 port 60w and 2 plugged into the 10 port 36w, so they should all have enough power. It's a bit messy, I'll need to order a hub that can run all 5 maybe 10 soon.

You're running them at 600mhz now? The HW/errors usually go down a little bit over time

Which pool are you using and what coin are you mining? Which hubs are you using now?

I've still yet to figure out how to set a "failover" pool  . .I did a bit of googling and found a thread talking about setting up the BAT file a certain way?

yea just at 600mhz they've been running fine all night at an average of 3.3mh with around 1% hardware errors.
I'm over at miningdutch atm I was on there multiport but switched to netcoin (low diff pos) it was bouncing around too much on the multipool port but looking at my script I didn't set a difficulty so i'll try there again later.
Probably a dumb question but with difficulty is it best to combine the hashrates of the sticks(15mh+) and set a higher difficulty or use the individual hashrate(3.3mh+)?

I'm using an Orico 10 port 36w for 2 of them, this one I'll definitely replace due to size, vibration and low power but it'll do for a while after that I can use it on my desktop

I should really get one or 2 of those

managed to get 3 going at 768 but the 2 in the 36w wont go past 700 without just producing hardware errors or failing to start

I've ordered your recommended hub at ali express but chose a faster delivery option, watch me get import tax  Undecided probably order a few more of these in a few days and make better use of it

Yes sir! The 2 that point sidewards should share 1 converter according to the picture from the amazon site you send me:

And the one that sticks out upwards has it's own converter.

I just took another pic, on which they've had the chance to run for a while:

The one sticking upwards just had a spike on this pic, up to 2.55amp. Besides that, it runs on 2.20-2.35 amp just like the other two, which also every now and then have a quick spike in amp draw but then immediately turn back down to 2.20-2.35. It seems to happen more when they run warm/hot. (one of the fans still is not functioning properly, and it's the one that was supposed to cool the one MLD thats sticking out upwards.)

not yet I need to get a battery for my multimeter, lent it to a mate and he left it on.. typical.
I'm British Cheesy they had them in Maplin a little while ago and as they're having a closing down sale I'll check there

That's good to see. At least we know they can do more than the 2.1 amps per port they are rated for. I just hope it lasts.

Hi Bob,

I just measured them:
2 run at 0.8vcore, 1 on 0.82. Not bad for eyeballing it with such sensitive pot's! This close up is of the one running at 0.82 and this one draws the highest amps of the 3 i have now. This should give everybody an idea/starting point on how to set vcore and memclock.

They've been running basically for 4 days straight now with low error rates as you can see in my previous posts.

Yeah, so far that has not been an issue. I'm just... Reluctant to stop mining to open up the HUB to see if i can find any serial # or something to identify those converters to check the specs...


Thanks for the link, i'm gonna stick with the fans i have currently for now, they seem to be doing a good job so far with temps staying under the 50 degrees celsius on the small heatsink.
