I really hope they do something good for themselves and make something like a 1k$ free that can be spent only on trading fees to lure people and as an apology for those who are in. this exchange could be really nice w/o the errors, more liquidity and a bunch of coins added.

Good morning bitcoin land, I wait like everybody else here so that Kraken will re-open and be better from what was. It's very clear that a system that was designed to serve some thousands or some hundred thousands was not possible to serve millions.. I hope everything goes well with your update! Please keep us informed and do fast

Considering how shit the user experience was with Kraken the past months no wonder it's taking so long.

But i am indeed wondering why it's takeing so long. I am working as an it specialist and if we are doing bigger updates/upgrades on our costumers we ALWAYS use a backup system. If the system is very sensible we clone the complete machine and run the updates on the clone first. Might sound like wasted time as you have to do the complete update twice BUT: We always spot all the problems on the cloned machine, can get proactive before influencing the life system. For me it might sound as if someone has made a mistake and the result of this is 24h no kraken. I understand, and please people understand too, that the devs do also need some rest and sleep. The point is: I don't get it why there are no different shifts on the IT guys. If we would fuck up a system of a costumer like that, we would be working in different shifts, allowing most efficient time management. Still i understand that devs also have to sleep

This totally unacceptable. How can they be so unprofessional with so much money at stake is beyond me. I was there during MtGox debacle and I can tell you I don't like this at all. Worst part is I intended to withdraw everything before their "update" but couldn't due to their buggy system.

Scheduled - We are performing a system upgrade on Thursday, January 11 at approximately 5:00 UTC (Wednesday January 10 at 9 pm PT). Kraken services will be offline for about 2 hours during the upgrade, possibly longer. 30 fucking hours and counting. Unbelievable...

I feel really lucky that few days ago I moved all from kraken in my ledger nano. Soon we'll know if who manage kraken is just an idiot or is also a scammer

Is it only me that gets so worried that kraken maintenance is taking forever?

I think perhaps one of the question is :
How a compagny making $711 862 090 USD by 24h (just before the update) [https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/kraken/] , so who win about 700 000 usd by day with at less 0.1% fees can make this possible ?
What do we pay for ?
At less 1 profit day offert to all customer in fees free in our account seem the less thing they can offert ... 700 000 usd free fees / all customers to apologize ....
But if the support seem really great ....
their commercials and devs seem to not be the best ones ...

Update We are still working to resolve the issues that we have identified and our team is working around the clock to ensure a smooth upgrade.
This means it may still take several hours before we can relaunch the site. Posted 10 minutes ago. Jan 12, 2018 - 12:05 UTC

Relax! At least, there are still some status messages. In my opinion it's better to get a working platform even if it's down for 2 days. The world keeps spinning without permanent access to Kraken. And if you guys used Kraken as your main trading platform in the last months you had to get used to live with struggeling to place any orders or even to manage the login.

@testbug I am not an IT guy but I think when you clone the machine and use it as a test environment to install an update, you can't simulate the users activities so you maybe can't be sure how it goes when it's in live..
What I am worried about is the maintenance page. The page is so ugly and unprofessional, why as a supposed serious company don't you install at least a more friendly maintenance page.... And then come to my mind: why do you want a more friendly page when everyone left the office and are not planning on coming back

What if they are just buying time for their exit? Shouldn't we do something?

Most common scenarios you can easily reproduce. But if you lazy even for that - just invite some people for a test. What I am worried about is the maintenance page. The page is so ugly and unprofessional, why as a supposed serious company don't you install at least a more friendly maintenance page.... And then come to my mind: why do you want a more friendly page when everyone left the office and are not planning on coming back
I think shitty maintenance page is just to save time. Expected downtime was only a couple of hours, so no special page prepared. But when it all turned to shit - they just did not have any time to do it properly. If they want to jump ship - in my opinion, it would be easier with the typical mode of operation and constant lagging.

What can you do? The only thing goes in mind - that you should monitor exchange wallets for unexpected activity. But even if you see something - what really can be done?

Lesson learned again. Everybody will probably be withdrawing all their funds when they resume lol I have a couple of gran there in my account but If they really will suddenly close like gox, its all theirs. No matter how reputable, how long they have been in the business its still not safe storing tokens on exchanges.

Does it make any sense that the maintenance takes so long? Their "system upgrade" should be as simple as getting more connectivity from their host, right? This shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Unless I am missing something.
