while Ethereum only has "touring complete" talk and fantasies and a failed IPO attempt. It's turing and we had to delay the IPO because we were offered too much money. If that's failure, then I like to fail We are still waiting to see Ethereum working. Until now it is indeed fantasy.

When will ethereum be fundraising? How to get ether? For example, I have some BTCs in a BTC address, do I need to use a special way to send to ethereum fundraising BTC address? Or just like a general send Bitcoins? After I send my BTCs to ethereum fundraising BTC address, how to check my ether balance? Will I get the ether as soon as I send BTC to the ethereum fundraising address? Any idea about this? If ethereum could do something like Counterparty/XCP did, it would be better, like investors can get and check their XCP balance as soon as they burned their BTCs. If not, this should be a centralized IPO. Also posted this on ethereum forum: http://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/271/when-and-how-ethereum-will-be-fundraising?new=1

If that's failure, then I like to fail Yes, I would say that is failure. When you are offered too much money you become Ripple 2.0 You lose all credibility with core user base when their small investments are overshadowed by large investors who are throwing money at you because of a list of names associated with Ethereum. You succeed when you launch a working product. Agree with me or not, the next big thing in crypto is launched with little fanfare. Nxt

lol they were offered so much money? I thought the idea is fair distribution percentages! so what if you were offered more money why would you delay the IPO schedule? I thought the percentages of the coinbase was fixed?
too much bullshit so far..... literally fail IPO, can't say the same about the software I have to review it even more first, but no one here can deny, FAIL IPO so far.

Charles did his own marketing attempts trying to push this Vitalik as uber genius geek narrative (which he may or may not be. some said he's really clueless on financial side and that might impact way he sees the design of the system in a negative way). The Invictus guy seemed bit weasel like, but he is smart and creative. Their distribution model with angel shares and such was pretty creative, though I wouldn't bet on them. Keep in mind though Charles split from Invictus, so Charles did plenty of work to bring protoshares where it is now. He basically started fresh with Ethereum and needs to catch up a fucking LOT to both Mastercoin and Protoshares (invictus), but especially Mastercoin which now has functional decentralized exchange in beta stage, while Ethereum only has "touring complete" talk and fantasies and a failed IPO attempt.
Judging from utube, Invictus guy is definitely salesman, Charles sounds like one too. I have no problem giving money to hardworking devs, but I rather flip my coins in casino than giving them to salesmen.

to be honest I am just investing in etherium for the bubble, I don't believe in the idea, it just cannot be made in an efficient way, A developer sometimes must give up to the basic principles of the tradeoffs.
But now I am only seeing this bubble bursting on my face as a day 0 investor........

Thank you for being candid about this! Please don't invest in an idea you don't believe in. We're not building Ethereum for speculation purposes, period.

Yep, no more questions will be answered in an unmoderated thread, better to address questions in an "OP-moderated" thread. These thread was unmoderated and I've seen NO trolling nor abuse, just both critics and supporters. Why a moderated thread?

I don't quite see how the price to execute etherium code will be determined. there has to be some sort of clever system based on realtime or near realtime demand for, well what ever the limitation is to get things into the next block? I am also wondering if some sort of of chain processing can be done, and results are somehow integrated back into the etherium chain, that can be verified thus reduce bottle necks..... it could be an etheirum fork would set fee lower......

1.49.0.1
If you install 1.53, that should solve the issue. I also installed qtcreator as some people have had problems without it. Note that the latest Github code can fail to run, so download from code.ethereum.org. sudo apt-get install libboost1.53-all-dev that's the problem, thanks What about ubuntu 12.04? I have the same issue, but the latest libboost for 12.04 is 1.48
