What a surprise? Shardul Thakur and Ajinkya Rahane has so far piled up 77 runs for the 7th wicket. And more importantly, they have piled up all these runs in just above 16 overs. India can't expect the remaining tailenders to add a lot many runs, but if these two stays there for another hour or so, then the follow on can be avoided. And if the Shami and Siraj can lead a fightback sometime today (with the ball obviously), then there are still chances for India. BTW, where is Boland? Other bowlers are looking pretty much ineffective for Australia.

India has saved the follow-on however the set batsmen Rahane is out on 89 runs and all of a sudden India are again in trouble. Let's suppose Australia take the 150 runs lead in the 1st innings, the match will still be in their favor. Shardul Thakur is playing on 41 and he deserves a 50 today.

Let's see if at any point India can come back and dominate this match, Right now it is all Aussie's show but India trying to chip in, trying to resist but the Aussies are too strong.

Because if Australia is 150 runs ahead of India at the end of the first innings then they will start with 151 runs in the second innings and if they can score 400 runs in the second innings then the target for India will be 550 runs which is very difficult to achieve against a team like Australia. 
At a cricket ground like The Oval, it is very difficult to win against fast bowling like Australia ignoring such a target. But I am enjoying Shardul Thakur's batting in today's match which should be done by the batsmen Shardul Thakur is doing.

But the positive aspect to focus on is Shardul Thakur's exception batting performance where he scored a well-deserved fifty 51 runs. Australia bowlers particularly Pat Cummins displayed their skill by taking three crucial wickets. Despite the uphill battle India resilience and determination can still lead to a competitive second innings and with the unpredictable nature of cricket i think anything is possible at The Oval.

Aussie bowlers managed to wrap up India's innings, and taking a massive lead. Three crucial chances that were put down by Aussie fielders, which helped India reach their final total of 296. Otherwise, India would have been forced to follow on, potentially leading to an innings defeat. Although the match is not over yet, it would indeed require a miracle for India to turn the match for their favor.

If Australian batsmen can make a partnership of 60 to 70 runs, the match will remain in favor of Australia. This is a game of nerves but Australia having scored 469 runs in the first innings is still on the upper hand.

David Warner was out on 1 and the other opener Usman Khawaja only made 13 runs and it gave a bit of hope to the Indian team. Steven Smith  is still looking good even though.

I never expected that a Shali team with such power as India would perform so badly. I thought if India could do well in the bowling line then Australia would be all out for 250 runs. But India bowled well in the beginning but then bowled badly.  India team batsman Rohit got out with 15 runs from 26 balls. Virat Kohli got out with 14 runs from 31 balls. India team batsmen batted very badly.

India have already lost eight wickets so it is not possible for them to survive for three days as they have only two wickets left.  And meanwhile they need 189 more runs to meet the target. India is a good team but cannot compete with Australia.  Australia put India under a lot of pressure on the first day. And they haven't overcome that pressure yet and it doesn't seem like they will be able to in this Test match.

Thanks to Rahane and Shardul Thakur's excellent partnership, India managed to collect 296 runs. It was quite a good collection. The top-order players' performances have been terrible, but Shardul, Rahane and Jadeja have batted well. As usual, the Australian team did not start their second innings well. After India got all out for 296 runs, Australia came to bat again where Australia managed to score 123 runs for four wickets in their own second innings. Australia is still 296 runs ahead of India. Australia will come out to bat again tomorrow. If australia can score another 200 runs by batting tomorrow then it will be a big target for India. Hope the batsmen who are unbeaten on the wicket till now can form a good partnership tomorrow.

It is stumps on day 3 and Australia seems to be taking things a little easy and that’s really worrying. Australia has already lost four wickets for 123. I know that Australia already has a lead of  296. That is also the same score which was collected by India in the first innings before they got all out.

But I don’t think if Australia gives India, a target of anything less than 400 it is actually going to be good. I think if India has enough time that will actually be able to score anything around 350. So maybe Australia should be a little more careful and at least give a target of 400 or at least 380. That is the safest option for Australia in my opinion.

I feel India is still better today from what they were Yesterday, i am expecting the target to be around 350-400 as well looking at how Aussies are batting right now. But to be honest couple of wickets can expose the tail and can lead to fury of wickets. But yes Ashwin is that one person that India must be missing so bad right now after seeing how well is Jadeja turning the ball on a few patches on the pitch. I feel even tomorrow Jaddu can be the key bowler, other than him only Siraj and Shami look dangerous, Umesh's and Sharadul's overs look more like fillers.

Maybe it’s time to break the history? With the score 123/4, I think Australia will be easily able to mange 180+ runs more. So yeah the target will be atleast 500 runs to be honest. And India will have hardly a day and one session to chase the score. The chase seems very hard, but in cricket anything and everything is possible. If India’s mindset is not about winning the match, then they will try really hard to atleast draw the match and share the trophy with Australia. Today the result will become more clear.

Anything below 400 would make the match interesting. Australia has a lead of 296 now, and they still need another 104 runs to reach that point. And it is not going to be easy. The pitch is behaving a bit differently in the past two days, when compared to the first day. But this lead would have been much bigger if not for the lack of discipline from the Australian bowlers. Pat Cummins got his wickets annulled a total of 3 times, after he overstepped the line. And then a lot of easy catches were dropped. Anyway, Australia is firmly in command here and they should be able to win this match.

Day 3 looked good for India as Australia lost 4 main wickets in quick succession. Marnus Labuschagne looks angry as he was not able to get his full nap. Shiraj and the new ball always work as on day 3 he took the first wicket. Rahane after being dropped for 1.5 years came back with a confident 89. I have no words about Lord Thakur. I would say a good comeback for India on day 3. They would need a far better performance on day 4. They would need to restrict Australia to from scoring another 100 runs as it will be very hard again to chase a target of 400+ runs.
